It was a long time that we spoke of the meaning and utility of PageRank. Indeed in many forum and community dedicated to the positioning, and the factors related to search engine optimization, is often heightened the tone and manner when dealing with the problem on the importance of PageRank for a website and its webmaster.

In fact, these days we got a confirmation that we many SEO were expecting, PageRank algorith isn't important anymore, if not to give a touch of green color to the toolbar that now is completely absent.

Goodbay PAgerank, Google said this. This was announced by the removal from the webmaster tools, and by its staff likewise.

I remember when I said that a backlink on a high pagerank and alexa website is really good, but the most important thing it has always been the visibility --> more traffic --> more clicks.

And, after this gem, some SEO already talk about some sort of substitution, like QualityRank or TrafficRank more accurate than those currently available.

Probably, links sellers that relied completely pagerank will suffer a lot for this, nevertheless, eliminating the pagerank will solve a multitude of other problems and scams associated with it.

Hi to everyone! September is already started and I haven’t posted anything yet, I have to take care of this. I must admit that during summer I was very lazy about blogging, I thought that if I left internet for more than three days I would have missed it and instead is was pretty good to stay disconnected from the virtual world, even if just for few days.

I already said that SEO and make money online business are tight connected, in this post are summarized the most important informations about search engines functioning.

Online there are thousands of search engines (often shortened in SE), but just focus on the major ones: we definitely know Google.com, Yahoo.com, Bing.com (ex MSN Live Search), Altavista.com, Lycos.com; and also SE a little less famous like Nerooo.com and Cuil.com. These search engines are all independent, that means the results showed by each one is restrict to its search engine’s algorithm.

Then, there are SE affiliate to Google.com (AOL, Ask.com, Libero, etcetera), and this means that the results showed by them are the same results listed by Google for a date keyword typed. Like mirror sites. In few words, searching something in them is like doing it in Google.

At last there are even lesser famous SE sites, but still recognized, like:

Search Engines are internet special sites that are designed to help people find information previously added on other sites. There are differences in the ways the major Search Engines work, but they all perform three basic tasks:

They search the Internet or select pieces of the Internet - based on important words

They keep an index of the words they find and where they find them

They allow users to look for words or combinations of words found in that index.
Search Engine will index hundreds of millions of pages, and respond to tens of millions of queries per day. To find information on the hundreds of millions of Web pages that exist, a Search Engine employs special program robots, called spiders, to build lists of the words found on Web sites.
When a spider is building its lists, the process is called web crawling.
In order to build and maintain a useful list of words, a spider have to look at a lot of pages. How does any spider start its crawling over the Web? The usual starting points are lists of heavily used servers and very popular pages. The spider will begin with a popular site, indexing the words on its pages and following every link found within the site. In this way, the spidering system quickly begins to travel, spreading out across the most widely used portions of the Web.
Once the spiders have completed the task of finding information on Web pages, the Search Engine must store the information in a way that makes it useful.
There are two key components involved in making the gathered data accessible to users:

The information stored with the data

The method by which the information is indexed.
In the simplest case, a Search Engine could just store the word and the URL where it was found. In reality, this would make for an engine of limited use, since there would be no way of telling whether the word was used in an important or a trivial way on the page, whether the word was used once or many times or whether the page contained links to other pages containing the word. In other words, there would be no way of building the ranking list that tries to present the most useful pages at the top of the list of search results.
To make for more useful results, most Search Engines store more than just the word and URL. A Search Engine might store the number of times that the word appears on a page. The engine might assign a weight to each entry, with increasing values assigned to words as they appear near the top of the document, in sub-headings, in links, in the META tags or in the title of the page. Each commercial Search Engine has a different formula for assigning weight to the words in its index. This is one of the reasons that a search for the same word on different Search Engines will produce different lists, with the pages presented in different orders.
An index has a single purpose: it allows information to be found as quickly as possible. There are quite a few ways for an index to be built, but one of the most effective ways is to build a hash table. In hashing, a formula is applied to attach a numerical value to each word.
The formula is designed to evenly distribute the entries across a predetermined number of divisions. This numerical distribution is different from the distribution of words across the alphabet, and that is the key to a hash table's effectiveness.
When a person requests a search on a keyword or phrase, the Search Engine software searches the index for relevant information. The software then provides a report back to the searcher with the most relevant web pages listed first.

There is a word that I haven’t used until now, in all the post I have wrote in make money business blog,

niche

. We are referring to the niche in online marketing. I simply don’t like this term but in reference to business projects and business strategies and like synonymous of place of interest or place all one's own I have used it many times. A niche can be your center/sector of interest, in other words.

So, what is it a

niche in business

? It can be defined like a segment of a small market where a business plan managed to achieve a dominant market share, as can be, for example, in the car sector, the niche referring to luxury cars. Also understood as a group of buyers who share common features to which generally small and medium-sized companies are concentrating their efforts on differentiating the product as best as possible.

Why is a good choice to focalize on a

niche market

? Because you don’t want to be a fish in a ocean or have millions of rivals but you want to be alone in doing something, or one of the few. Promoting a small business product (niche) gives to you the opportunity to provide a product that the others businessmen are not pursuing.

In few words:

Concentrate all your efforts in building a project about a single product
Provide concrete information about your product, new/uncommon products are what makes a niche market works in a small business

But, how you can

sell a new product

if no one knows it? In that can help a lot the advertising. The important thing is that it works, the rest will came. An Anti-Acne Soap that doesn’t do the thing it should do is not a good product choice, never less a good niche market sector. Example: “make money online” niche. Another analysis about a web site - seo-back-links.com - which sells: Backlinks, articles submissions, social bookmarking submission, directory submissions, blog comments posting and software distributions. Surely they are all great services, but now we will see that, apart from the premises, the site in question does not seem to be as well reliable.

Firstly, a site that declares to be a link building service usually has plenty of backlinks itself with a medium/high PR and Alexa rank, don’t you think? That should be the first thing to convince potential customers that this site offers effective services.

But, in this case, we see a mere PR 2 and an Alexa rank of 1,065,534, not so high.

And if you type in google: link:http://www.seo-back-links.com to make some research about the domain popularity, you’ll see that this site has little link popularity.

If you’re thinking that I support illegal files distribution, the answer is NO, I don’t. Nevertheless believe me if I say that adding words like torrent, serial, crack and similar, in an article about the presentation of a certain product can make reach your website by a lot more interested people. Is not something discovered yesterday and remember that, apart from adult content, the three words in the title of this post are at the first positions in the top ten of global search engines.

Before to focus on the topic, please do a little research on Google, typing “twittertraffic machines torrent”, just to show an example, and look at this third link:

The author of the article on Hubpages has astutely added this line “Twitter Traffic Machine For Free/Torrent/Download”

Or look at this other example “seo administrator crack”

The sixth result is a software directory, in this specific page we read at the bottom:

"SEO Administrator 4.23 Related Tags seo administrator crack, seo administrator serial, seo , seo elitetool, seo book, seo analyzer, seo elitesoftware, seo tutorials"

But every linked tag point obviously to the same page. Remember that crack, serial and copyrighted files unauthorized distribution is ILLEGAL.

Now that the picture is clearer, try to see how you can take advantage of these keywords in articles, web pages and blog post writing. Where? How? Maybe the best place to put a line or two, is at the bottom of your article. You do not have to write, find here link a crack for this or a serial for that, remember to encourage not illegal activity. You can simply write that download product_name torrent, product_name serial, product_name crack, etcetera, is illegal.

In brief, the aim is to add crack and serial to content to gain more visitors and even sales. It is used by a lot of websites, because people search online almost always for a FREE alternative to a program or ebook. They give it a try, and if these people (many people) happen to come to your web page, at least your traffic will benefit and they may can decide to buy an original version.

Blogspot.com domain and its spam etiquette

Starting from not so long ago, and in recent times in particular, I’m sure that many of you, bloggers that use Blogger platform, have noticed that often (and this “often” is what makes me think about it) when you’re posting a comment in others blogs (mostly wordpress) or articles directories, it happens that you can’t effectively post anything if you add your site like yourdomain.blogspot.com, why? Because they added blogspot.com domain in their refused list, cause they received a lot of SPAM from this domain.

I wouldn’t say that this is a catastrophe, except if you point all your backlinks source from comments on other blogs. Yes, because not only many of them have a Nofollow tag, now the few Dofollow remarkable blogs are even more restricted for blogs with a blogspot.com domain.

From a point of view is more than understandable to preserve your blog from spam comments, but on the other hand this harm the honest bloggers who just try to participate in the debate with the chance to present their site, maybe just opened.

What can be done about this?

There are softwares that allow you to search for Dofollow blogs or search engines for do follow blogs, the firsts give to you more information (like PR), the seconds are FREE and more simple to use. Some example:
