Herbert W. Armstrong (31 July 1892 - 16 January 1986) founded the Worldwide Church of God in the late 1930s, as well as Ambassador College (later Ambassador University) in 1946, and was an early pioneer of radio and tele-evangelism, originally taking to the airwaves in the 1930s from Eugene, Oregon. Armstrong preached an eclectic set of theological doctrines and teachings that he claimed came directly from the Bible. [2] These theological doctrines and teachings have been referred to as Armstrongism. His teachings included the interpretation of biblical prophecy in light of British Israelism,[3] and required observance of parts of the covenant Law including seventh-day Sabbath, dietary prohibitions, and the covenant law "Holy Days".

Armstrong proclaimed that world events during his lifespan loomed various Biblical prophecies, and that he was called by God as an 'Apostle' and end-time 'Elijah' to proclaim the Gospel of God's Kingdom to the World[4] before the return of Jesus Christ. He also founded the Ambassador International Cultural Foundation, which promoted the arts, humanities, and humanitarian projects.[5] Through his role with the foundation, Armstrong and his advisers met with heads of governments in various nations, for which he described himself as an "ambassador without portfolio for world peace."[6]

The biggest task Babatunde Fashola faces in office is his visionary project to transform Lagos into a mega city,^[8] the first of its kind in Lagosian history. Although initialized under the former governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in June 2002,^[9] the mega project task accelerated under Fashola's governorship. Both private and public sectors are involved in fulfilling the project.^[9]^[10]

The crucial part of the mega city project is the rehabilitation of Lagos' infrastructures and districts. Formerly taken care of by the federal government, they were immediately neglected, as Abuja was declared Nigeria's new capital since 1991.^[9] According to Lagos Rail Mass Transit, proposed light railways will be consisted of the outskirt blue-line and inner red-line destinations.^[11] As part of the project, the Badagry Expressway, which links Lagos directly to the south-eastern border of Benin Republic, is currently being rehabilitated by various contractors,^[12] with BRT and railway networks being established.^[13]

Another ambition is to recover lands at Victoria Island, being lost to erosion for decades.^[14] This artificial terrain is the location of the proposed Eko Atlantic City. This is also to support housing project that would accommodate up to 25 million Lagosians by 2015, a population growth from 15 million that could turn Lagos into the world's third largest city.^[15]

My mind goes to David when he returned from an outing with his men to Ziklag and found that his entire house hold with those of his men had been taken captive.It was such a terrible thing that David was quite distressed and it became more distressing when the people he had assisted and helped in time past spoke of stoning him,yet David took them and taught them the ways of the Lord,helped them to believe in the God that delivered and gave him victory over lion,a bear and Goliath would also deliver and give them victory over anything.

In the ancient times, wives/mothers were always at home to take care of the children, supporting husbands in whatever ways possible. They served as advisers, counselors to husbands, represented husbands in absence, and served as moral guardians to their children. The older wives in homes trained the new ones, and in some cases, served as custodians of family values and traditions. Even as of today with western education, industrialization, Christianity and Islam which to a reasonable extent have changed and re-defined women’s status in today’s world; yet, they still perform these traditional functions as home-makers, in conjunction with their secular jobs.
Being an agnatic and communal-oriented society; family members live side-by-side, or near ancestral homes for the continuity of the extended family. The most senior/oldest male in the entire compound becomes family head (Mọgaji or Olori-Ẹbi), the position goes to another most senior, when the holder dies, or becomes incapacitated because of infirmity, due to old age and illness.

Traditional Yoruba homes before the arrival of Whites were rectangular-shaped-multi-single-rooms, with corridors and central compound, and open space at the back, where children played at night. The affluent Yoruba may have several of these homes to provide shelter needs for: wives, several children, family dependants, and slaves.

Those who had domestic animals like: goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, (fowl of different kinds), had low-built-pen-house.

Family head lived in the same house, but in a separate room; in a polygamous home, each wife had personal room, which she shared with her under-aged. Adult males shared same room, while females lived in the same room. Each wife took turn to sleep with her husband; even, in one-man-one wife home, couples lived under this arrangement. However, the introduction of Christianity which places so much emphasis on monogamy, plus the western education and culture, and improved standard of living-the outcome of-industrialization, these factors combined have changed the family outlook and dynamics among Yoruba people.Be impacted more HERE.

The famed Nigerian Pastor Tunde Bakare is said to have predicted the annulment to Abiola and warned him against contesting.^[19]
In 1994 Moshood Abiola declared himself the lawful president of Nigeria in the Epetedo area of Lagos island, an area mainly populated by impoverished Nigerians. He had recently returned from a trip to win the support of the international community for his mandate. After declaring himself president he was declared wanted and was accused of treason and arrested on the orders of military President General Sani Abacha, who sent 200 police vehicles to bring him into custody. MKO Abiola has been referred to as Nigeria's greatest statesman^[20]
Moshood Abiola was detained for four years, largely in solitary confinement with a Bible, Qur'an, and fourteen guards as companions. During that time, Pope John Paul II, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and human rights activists from all over the world lobbied the Nigerian government for his release. The sole condition attached to the release of Chief Abiola was that he renounce his mandate, something that he refused to do, although the military government offered to compensate him and refund his extensive election expenses.Abiola died under suspicious circumstances shortly after the death of General Abacha. Moshood Abiola died on the day that he was due to be released, on July 7, 1998.^[22] While the official autoposy state that Abiola died of natural causes, Abacha's Chief Security Officer, al-Mustapha has alleged that Moshood Abiola was in fact beaten to death.

; Langweil Anthony ( 13 June 1791 Postoloprty - 11 June 1837 Prague ) was a creator paper model of Prague made-in the years 1826 - 1837 , which shows the historical part of the city, including neighborhoods destroyed by redevelopment in the late 19th and 20th century . The model is known as Langweil model of Prague .

A few years ago during his walks in the vicinity of Prague's finest prospects I thought: How nice it would have to be this sublime city in a small model! This idea I was engaged in a long time, but the choice of material for making the model seemed very difficult. After many failed attempts I gave up the idea slowly. Even in successive views of Prague from Petrin Hill, which is the most convenient place where you can overlook the whole city, I was glad I had not done a great job. This idea but not entirely forgotten, just dozing in my subconscious, awoke again in 1826 and I immediately proceeded to implement it. The reason for this sudden initiative in Prague was exposed relief of Paris. He gave me courage to try and create something similar, or perhaps even better.To read on click HERE.

Accomplishments

In Hunayn ibn Ishaq’s lifetime, he devoted himself to working on a multitude of writings; both translations and original works.^[6]

Hunayn wrote on a variety of subjects that included philosophy, religion and medicine. In “How to Grasp Religion,” Hunayn explains the truths of religion that include miracles not possibly made by humans and humans’ incapacity to explain facts about some phenomena, and false notions of religion that include depression and an inclination for glory. He worked on Arabic grammar and lexicography.^[6]

Hunayn ibn Ishaq enriched the field of ophthalmology. His developments in the study of the human eye can be traced through his innovative book, “Ten Treatises on Ophthalmology.” This textbook is the first known systematic treatment of this field and was most likely used in medical schools at the time. Throughout the book, Hunayn explains the eye and its anatomy in minute detail; its diseases, their symptoms, their treatments. He discusses the nature of cysts and tumors, and the swelling they cause. He discusses how to treat various corneal ulcers through surgery, and the therapy involved in repairing cataracts. “Ten Treatises on Ophthalmology” demonstrates the skills Hunayn ibn Ishaq had not just as a translator and a physician, but also as a surgeon.^[4]

Hunayn ibn Ishaq's reputation as a scholar and translator, and his close relationship with Caliph al-Mutawakkil, led the caliph to name Hunayn as his personal physician, ending the exclusive use of physicians from the Bukhtishu family.^[6] Despite their relationship, the caliph became distrustful; at the time, there were fears of death from poisoning, and physicians were well aware of its synthesis procedure. The caliph tested Hunayn’s ethics as a physician by asking him to formulate a poison, to be used against a foe, in exchange for a large sum. Hunayn ibn Ishaq repeatedly rejected the Caliph’s generous offers, saying he would need time to develop a poison. Disappointed, the caliph imprisoned his physician for a year. When asked why he would rather be killed than make the drug, Hunayn explained the physician's oath required him to help, and not harm, his patients.^[5]

Some of Hunayn's most notable translations were his translation of "De material Medica," which was technically a pharmaceutical handbook, and his most popular selection, “Questions on Medicine.”^[3] “Questions on Medicine” was extremely beneficial to medical students because it was a good guide for beginners to become familiar with the fundamental aspects of medicine in order to understand the more difficult materials. Information was presented in the form of question and answer. The questions were taken from Galen’s “Art of Physic,” and the answers were based on “Summaria Alexandrinorum.” For instance, Hunayn answers what the four elements and four humors are and also explains that medicine is divided into therapy and practice. He goes on later to define health, disease, neutrality, and also natural and contranatural, which associates with the six necessary causes to live healthy.^[6]

Hunayn translated writings on agriculture, stones, and religion. He translated some of Plato's and Aristotle’s works, and the commentaries of ancient Greeks. Additionally, Hunayn translated many medicinal texts and summaries, mainly those of Galen. He translated a countless number of Galen’s works including “On Sects” and “On Anatomy of the Veins and Arteries.” ^[6]

Many published works of R. Duval in Chemistry represent translations of Hunayn's work.^[7] Also in Chemistry a book titled ['An Al-Asma'] meaning "About the Names", did not reach researchers but was used in "Dictionary of Ibn Bahlool" of the 10th century.To read more click HERE.

The action of gossip

To gossip is to speak in a way which raises questions or doubts about another or their character. Gossip is conversation behind someone's back, which puts them in bad light.

(Such discussion is only appropriate when engaged in by individuals involved in church discipline.)

The motivation for gossip

Compassion or sincere concern is no excuse for gossip.

No matter how pure or innocent the motive, raising questions about another still damages their reputation, ie:

"I'm concerned for `So and So' because …"

"I'd like to pray for `So and So', because they've …"

"What did you think about what So and So said? I had trouble with it myself."

"I am having a problem with `So and So,' because of such and such. Could you pray for me?"

"I heard such and such about `So and So.' Do you know if that's true?"

"Have you heard that `So and So' was being investigated for such and such? They need our prayer."

"But I know what I say to be TRUE -- so it's not gossip." (Where does the idea come from that words are only gossip if they are not true?)

Gossip destroys another's reputation, whether intentionally or accidentally.

The most famous excuse for gossip: "I only mentioned it because I was concerned."

If personal concern excused gossip, 90% of all gossip could be justified.
If the one speaking the gossip was genuinely concerned, they would have come to the one they gossiped about, and not raised doubts about them to someone else.

Even one who repeats hurtful gossip back to the slandered one, rather than confronting the slanderer, participates in gossip. The one originally speaking the gossip should be corrected and sent back to reconcile with the one they are gossiping about.

God's solution for those who have concerns for another is for them to go to the one they say they are concerned about. That way they don't accidentally gossip.

Rom 16:17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Effectively, we gossip when we speak in a negative way about another when they are not present to defend themselves. The facts spoken may be true and the speaker may be motivated out of concern, but if the one spoken about would not appreciate the conversation, it is gossip.

Early life

In 1950, after learning how to operate a plant, Li founded a plastics manufacturing company in Hong Kong with funds borrowed from family and friends and contacts he cultivated as a salesman. Li avidly read trade publications and business news before deciding to supply the world with high quality plastic flowers at low prices. Li learned the technique of mixing colour with plastics that resemble real flowers. After retooling his shop and hiring the best technicians he could find, he prepared for weeks for the plant visit of a large foreign buyer. Impressed with the quality of Li's plant, the buyer placed a large order. A few years later, Li grew to be the largest supplier of plastic flowers in Asia and made a fortune selling them. [11]

Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi^[3] (Arabic: مُعَمَّر القَذَّافِي‎ Muʿammar al-Qaḏḏāfī audio (help·info))^[variations] (born 7 June 1942) is a Libyan revolutionary and political strongman. Gaddafi became head of state by removing King Idris in a bloodless coup.^[4] His 41 years in power prior to the outbreak of the 2011 Libyan Civil War made him one of the longest-serving non-royal rulers in history, as well as the longest-serving Arab leader.^[5]
Gaddafi ruled Libya with a unique political philosophy termed the Third International Theory. His approach rejected capitalism and communism, and was based on ideals of Arab nationalism and socialism. In 1979, he stated that Libya was a direct democracy and relinquished the title of prime minister. He has since been called the "Brother Leader and Guide of the Revolution".^[6]^[7] During his rule, he took active measures to influence foreign governments, supporting paramilitary organizations and terrorists. The United Nations called Libya under Gaddafi a pariah state, and the United States held Libya on its list of states sponsoring terrorism from 1979 to 2006.^[8]^[9] Gaddafi had a strong interest in geo-political control, and was a firm supporter of OAPEC and led a Pan-African campaign for a United States of Africa.^[10] After the 1986 bombing of Libya and the subsequent 1993 imposition of United Nations (UN) sanctions, Gaddafi established closer economic and security relations with the West; cooperating with investigations into alleged Libyan acts of state-sponsored terrorism (subsequently paying compensation) and ending his nuclear weapons program, which resulted in the lifting of UN sanctions in 2003.
In early February 2011, Gaddafi's government faced major political protests following in the wake of demonstrations in Tunisia, Egypt, and other parts of the Arab world. The protests quickly turned into a civil war. Gaddafi vowed to "die a martyr" if necessary in his fight against rebels and external forces, saying that those rebelling against his government deserved to die.^[11]^[12]^[13] Since then he has lost control of most of eastern Libya, as well as large parts of the west.
On 27 June 2011 the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against Gaddafi for crimes against humanity.^[14]^[15]
On 20 August, the rebellion against his rule reached Tripoli, with a large uprising taking place in parts of the capital, posing a serious threat to his regime.^[16] Gaddafi was reported to have fled from the capital.

Amazon was founded in 1995,^[4] spurred by what Bezos called "regret minimization framework", his effort to fend off regret for not staking a claim in the Internet gold rush.^[5] Company lore says Bezos wrote the business plan while he and his wife drove from New York to Seattle,^[6] although that account is disputed. Bezos flew from New York to Texas, where he picked up a car from a family member, and then drove from Texas to Seattle.
The company began as an online bookstore;^[7] while the largest brick-and-mortar bookstores and mail-order catalogs for books might offer 200,000 titles, an online bookstore could offer more. Bezos named the company "Amazon" after the world's largest river. Since 2000, Amazon's logotype is an arrow leading from A to Z, representing customer satisfaction (as it forms a smile); a goal was to have every product in the alphabet.^[8]
Amazon was incorporated in 1994, in the state of Washington. In July 1995, the company began service and sold its first book on amazon.com - Douglas Hofstadter's Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.^[9] In 1996, it was reincorporated in Delaware. Amazon issued its initial public offering of stock on May 15, 1997, trading under the NASDAQ stock exchange symbol AMZN, at an IPO price of US$18.00 per share ($1.50 after three stock splits in the late 1990s).
Barnes and Noble filed a lawsuit on 12 May 1997, alleging that Amazon's claim to be "The world's largest bookstore" was false. They asserted "[It] isn't a bookstore at all. It's a book broker." The suit was later settled out of court. Amazon continued to call itself "The world's largest bookstore."^[10] This was followed by Walmart filing suit on 16 October 1998, alleging that Amazon had stolen trade secrets by hiring former Walmart executives. Although this suit was settled out of court, it led to work restrictions and reassignment of the former Walmart executives.^[10]
Amazon's initial business plan was unusual: the company did not expect a profit for four to five years. Its "slow" growth provoked stockholder complaints that the company was not reaching profitability fast enough. When the dot-com bubble burst, and many e-companies went out of business, Amazon persevered, and finally turned its first profit in the fourth quarter of 2001: $5 million or 1¢ per share, on revenues of more than $1 billion, but the modest profit was important in demonstrating the business model could be profitable. In 1999, Time magazine named Bezos Person of the Year, recognizing the company's success in popularizing online shopping.
