We’re happy to announce the launch of the MobiAccess 4.0 mobile development framework! We’ve completely rewritten the MobiAccess framework, and as a result we recorded a 25% speed increase to the previous versions. We’ve also created a new developer tool (the MobiAccess Integrated Development Environment) to make the development process easier. It is now possible to write your applications in a unified environment and build them on the mobile platform of your choosing. From now on you will only need one programming language for all operating systems, and the drag-and-drop form designer is also around the corner.

As part of the launch event we’re holding a public test where everyone can try out the capabilities of our new framework, and also our brand new IDE. Your opinion and feedback is extremely valuable to us, so as with the release of the MobiAccess 3.0 we’re holding a price draw to reward those who participate in testing our framework between 14th February 2011 and 11th May 2011. This year you have the chance to win an

Apple iPad!

To enroll all you have to do is to try out the MobiAccess 4.0 IDE. Your need to load up the “Hello World” tutorial application we provide, and modify it to display “Greeting from <insert your email address here>!” instead of the “Hello World!” text. (For example: “Greetings from info@mobiaccess.com!”). Then build the application into a platform of your choosing and send the install files back to us. All enrolled users will be notified about the prize draw results on the email address provided in the submitted application, so make sure you enter the correct address.

The prize draw for the Apple iPad takes place on 12th May 2011, 10:00 at InfomatiX headquarters. For more information about the promotion please directly contact us!

Download the sample source code from this link.

Be one of the first professionals to try it and gain invaluable experience and more!

We wish you good luck and a good time with MobiAccess!

It is my pleasure dear readers to announce the soon to be released, new, fourth version of MobiAccess. With the beginning of last year, there were some exciting and drastic changes in the MobiAccess concept. The best way to put it, it died and born again after the following words were spoken at a meeting: “Throw out everything and make something even better!”

We had a clear understanding based on customer feedback and needs that MobiAccess in its current form cannot fully satisfy these new needs. It took a long time to realize how to solve the problems of making the configuration easier while making sure we meet market expectations. We believe that we have to create a new programming language and a full-featured development environment (IDE) for the new version of MobiAccess. It would be an understatement to say it was a huge challenge to everyone on the team and to solve the countless problems along the way of fulfilling our goals. Thanks to the dedicated developers, expertise, insistence and dedication, we took all of these challenges and solved them without a hitch. The resulting product became a great environment to develop mobile applications.

So take a look at what are these innovations and how do they help mobile developers.

The main concept: Write code once and run them on any device
The core of MobiAccess is that there is no need to develop for each of the popular platforms and the resulting applications will run on any platforms equally. We kept this in our minds but we took it to the next level.

Object oriented
To get over the limits of the existing system, we threw away the old XML-based configuration and created an almost full object oriented programming language which alone made the new MobiAccess a lot more flexible. From now the developers are not limited by the narrow selection of forms but they can create custom forms with the existing controls and they’re able to write custom event handlers, the same way they can with any modern programming languages.

Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
Nowadays a great programming language cannot exist without a great environment. So we created our own development environment for our language which offers a lot of convenient features like IntelliSense or the display of parameter lists and documentation where it is necessary.

Write And Compile Anywhere (WACA)
There are two possible ways of creating multiplatform tools. The “Write Once Run Anywhere (WORA)” and the “Write Once Compile Anywhere” (WOCA). The weakness of the former way is that the runtime environment must be preinstalled in the target machine, and the weakness of the later one is that the code must be compiled for every platform it has to run on. The Write and Compile Anywhere (WACA) on the other hand makes it possible to compile the code to all platforms even if we don’t have the SDK of the target platform. The result of the compile is a device-native binary which can be run directly (.exe on Windows Mobile or .cod on a BlackBerry, etc.).

The new Sync Wizard
As part of the unification, the Sync Wizard became a part of the IDE. What this means is that you are able to graphically create sync configuration, which will make developers much more efficient.

These are probably the most important innovations of the new MobiAccess, but the list doesn’t end here.

I’m grateful that I had the chance to contribute to the building blocks of the new MobiAccess, including the design and implementation of virtual machines and the programming language itself. Personally, 2010 was a very exciting year for me with full of new challenges. I really enjoyed the time I spent on the team with my colleagues. I’m looking forward to see the new MobiAccess and I hope that every old and new customer will have a great experience using it.

InfomatiX Ltd. is proud to announce, that it completed the mobile transition to the MobiLink technology at Primagaz Romania in February, 2010. The project management and development team of InfomatiX handled the challenge with ease, rolling out the software product on schedule while managing to keep the quality assurance aspect of the project a top priority.

The company currently uses the interconnecting MobiLink and Distiller services to connect to its existing Microsoft Dynamics Navision system and is in the process of introducing the extension of these capabilities to a wide variety of handheld devices used by Primagaz, made possible with the multiplatform MobiAccess protocol. The data synchronization process of the MobiLink system enables sales directors and regional sales managers to instantaneously access up-to-date stock data, while Distiller delivers customer information and error-free reports. Also, as Primagaz begins to use the rich mobile clients, it will take the burden of heavy paperwork off the shoulders of sales representatives, allowing them to focus on the sales process as well as making point-of-sale related materials, delivery site-specific information available wirelessly to the representatives. The data synchronization process makes use of the standard object interface of the MobiLink connector, making sure to deliver accurate and up to date information from Navision to the Distiller system via the SQL Server Integration Service.

The project was designed with future-proofing in mind from the ground up, so that expanding to other mobile clients would be a seamless process.

Users at Primagaz have been using the new MobiLink system for more than a month as of publishing and from the feedback, the new MobiLink and Distiller system had an overwhelming impact on the company’s sales effectivity.
