Last year, Google announced the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update with LG Nexus 4. This Year, the company announced Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with the new Nexus 7. Android 4.4 KitKat is on the way, we want to analysis why we are not waiting for Android 4.2 or 4.3?

Android 4.2 was major update over 4.1 in terms of extra features, updated lock screen and tons of extra goodies including long awaited toggles, however on the other hand 4.3 sounds to be bit low in terms of features and goodies , however it was majorly on Future promised update.

I've noticed that the Jellybean updates are getting smaller and smaller in terms of usability and feature wise. Android 4.1 was huge update over 4.0 with Project Butter, Google Now, expandable notifications, etc. 4.2 was a good update, with Butter improvements, Quick settings, and lock screen widgets. 4.3 is mostly an under the hood update. It kept the look and feel of Android 4.2, while adding some improvements including OpenGL 3.0 support, tweak on dial pad, and Bluetooth Low Energy and some more. I think Google is looking to polish JB and fix it up before major release.

Android 4.2 and 4.3 are not major update like 4.1/4.0 but surely designed for Nexus devices, As OEMs like HTC, Samsung, and LG with their skin on top have already provided similar features with old version of Android.

Pretty much all the rumors regarding the new iPhone turned out true - the iPhone 3GS (S for Speed) has a 3 megapixel camera with video recording and a compass. The unexpected thing however is that 3GS will look exactly as the original iPhone 3G.

Beside the new VGA@30fps video recording, the auto focus camera with touch focus (and everything else automatic) and of course, the built-in compass, there are no other significant changes as compared to iPhone 3G. But there are quite a lot of details that have undergone an update.

SamSung Goes 12 Mega Pixel

Samsung have long been rumored to have a 12 megapixel cameraphone in the works. Well, now it sees daylight for the first time - meet the Pixon12 - the first 12MP cameraphone to hit the market, scheduled for a June launch.

The M8910 is the model number standing behind the Pixon12. The new cameraphone pointed as Sony Ericsson Satio (a.k.a. Idou) competitor makes its mark with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a highly advertised 10000:1 contrast.

And taking where the original Pixon left, the Samsun Pixon12 now sports Wi-Fi connectivity along with the GPS receiver.

The Samsung Pixon12 camera goes further in to the mobile photography offering a 28mm wide-angle lens, both a xenon and a power LED flash (how's that for a change), D1 video recording at 30fps, tracking Touch Auto Focus, Smart Auto mode changing with the lighting conditions and all the rest typical high-end camera features such as geo-tagging, face detection, etc.

Nokia E52

Nokia announced the latest addition to their business mobile phone lineup. True to its Eseries nature, the Nokia E52 sports a decent feature set, extensive connectivity and a classic metallic design.

Nokia E52 is basically a copy of the Nokia E55, save for the QW-ER-TY keyboard. It brings 3G with HSDPA 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps support. The other major features of the Nokia E52 include a 2.4” display, GPS and Wi-Fi. An accelerometer sensor for automatic screen rotation, a digital compass and a 3 megapixel full focus camera are also on board.

The 8 hours of talk time and 23 days of standby are the other assets of the E52. Those numbers are just about the same as on the Nokia E55 and twice as good as its predecessor – the E51.

The Nokia E52 will ship with a 1GB microSD card and a free 60 day trial for Files on Ovi. It’ll become available in the second half of the year at an estimated retail price of €245, before taxes or subsidies. That is about 20 euro less than the Nokia E55 to compensate for the missing QW-ER-TY which might be a good trade-off for some users.

LG had showcased a hush-hush prototype of a second Viewty handset featuring an 8 megapixel camera. It was simply called the Viewty 2 but is being dubbed the Viewty Smart. Running on LG’s new S-Class 3D UI.

iPhone OS 3.0 to Rock it again

A word is out that Apple is now officially inviting representatives of the press to attend their next big announcement event on 17 March. The event will be dedicated to the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0. There's no word of an upcoming mobile phone, but our hopes are high as always.

Engadget.com report to have received an invitation by Apple for an upcoming event with its main theme set on iPhone OS 3.0.

Apple will display an "advance preview of what they're building", meaning that you probably won't see any working full-fledged iPhone OS 3.0 there (or iPhone 3 anyway).

Sony Ericsson reveal C510

The new Sony Ericsson C510 is dubbed as the most affordable Cyber-shot to date - it has a 3 megapixel camera, imaging shortcuts and Face detection plus Smile Shutter. The Sony Ericsson C905 is also getting the Smile Shutter treatment via a software update that should be available somewhere in February 2009.

Future from Sony Ericsson

It's tough to predict the future, especially with cutbacks to R&D budgets in the face of a global economic slowdown. Still, it's always nice to see a forward-looking corporate-slide related to mobile handsets from the taller, blonder half of that Sony Ericsson partnership. LTE and fast CPUs are certainly no surprise, nor is that 1,024 x 768 XGA screen resolution that Japan's superphones are already bumping up against. The most compelling vision is that of the embedded camera sensors: 12-20 megapixels capable of recording Full HD video by 2012. Adding more fuel to firey speculation that handsets are about to find themselves embroiled in a megapixel war. Fine by us, just as long the optics and image processing are there to support such a resolution. Even though 12-20 megapixels seems high compared to the 5-8 megapixel cell phones we see today, those numbers are entirely within reason when you recall that Samsung hit 10 megapixels in Korea two years ago. In fact, we wouldn't be suprised in the least to find Ericsson's mythical device on the market well prior to 2012. Combined, these features certainly make for a tantalizing glimpse at the wireless handset future.

Wifi in Walkman - Sony Ericsson W705

The Sony Ericsson W705 comes with a 2.4" QVGA display capable of showing up to 256K colors. Some of its more important features include a 3.2 MP fixed-focus snapper, FM radio with RDS, quad-band GSM and dual-band (900/2100 MHz) 3G support.

LG KP500 Touching is Cheaper Now

Aiming at the midrange market, LG will be bringing full touch handsets to the masses, by introducing their latest LG KP500. Standing at 11.9 mm of thickness, the LG KP500 may be affordable but not at the expense of style.

Borrowing its design from the LG Renoir, the LG KP500 uses the latest reincarnation of the proprietary LG Flash-based UI. The user interface is thumb-optimized, but a stylus is also provided to assist handwriting recognition. Unlike the LG Viewty however, the stylus here is tucked into the body of the handset itself.

It also has a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera, but there's a 3-inch wide touch screen display with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels to poke around. A microSD memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio and an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and gaming completes the tally. A virtual landscape QWERTY keyboard and office document viewer are also present.

Weighing only 89 g, the LG KP500 will land in Europe in October 2008. Its price will be announced later on, but we can't help but wonder what do they exactly mean by affordable - their most affordable touchscreen handsets are the LG KF700, which currently sells online for around 200 euro (285 US dollars).

T-Mobile and Google will announce the first smartphone based on the Android platform. However images and some of the specs of the device already leaked. Have a look-see of those, while we wait for the real deal.

The T-Mobile G1 is definitely not among the most nice looking handset out there - the design could have benefited from some additional time on the drawing board. Nevertheless, the first Android handset sports a cool looking specs sheet and it's the OS that attracts the attention. Gizmodo seem to have a nice list of the 10 most interesting upcoming Android apps - be sure to check those.

As TmoNews reports, the T-Mobile G1 will have a 65K color HVGA screen (480 x 320 pixels), which the same resolution as the iPhone. Touchscreen it is, too - but the G1 will also have a trackball below the display. The G1 will measure the same height as the iPhone, only a bit less wide and slightly thicker.

The T-Mobile G1 will also have a 3 megapixel camera, but unfortunately there's no video recording. The iPhone is clear evidence that manufacturers can get away with that. Bluetooth functionality will be initially rather limited - only headset connectivity - but full support will come later on. Sound all too familiar again.

Sony Ericsson unveiled their latest high-end slider - the G705. Loaded with a bunch of goodies such as a large 2.4-inch QVGA display, GPS receiver with A-GPS support and Wi-Fi connectivity with DLNA certification it surely looks like a sweet device.

The web-oriented Sony Ericsson G705 packs quad-band GSM support and either UMTS 2100 Mhz with HSDPA or UMTS 850/1900/2100 with both HSDPA and HSUPA. From the looks of it, the second option dubbed "US version" sounds that much better.

Thanks to the built-in accelerometer, the G705 offers auto screen rotation that works even in the browser (which is further enhanced by the dedicated web shortcuts).

The built-in GPS works in cooperation with the preinstalled Google Maps and Wayfinder (with three-month free navigation license) and additionally offers image geotagging. The G705 sports a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash, which unfortunately doesn't have auto focus on board (now that's a big downer). A certain novelty is that the videos captured by the camera can now be uploaded directly to YouTube. YouTube downloads will also be possible and Sony Ericsson will be releasing other YouTube-enabled handsets in the future.

Samsung INNOV8 with 8 MP Camera

Samsung officially announced the Samsung i8510 INNOV8 today - a multimedia monster, which packs top-of-the-range cameraphone capabilities along with Symbian S60 smartphone functionality. And probably the best thing about it is that it will be available in Europe in a few weeks (read August 2008).

The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 is a smartphone based on Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2 and features quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA 7.2Mbps (900/2100 MHz) support. It also has a large 2.8-inch 16M color QVGA display - it serves the Nokia N95 8GB excellently, so we don't think it would have benefitted by a higher resolution. Screen auto rotation is also available thanks to the built-in accelerometer.

The amount of RAM is 128 MB and there will be a dedicated 3D graphics accelerator. Unfortunately there is no information regarding the CPU used in this multimedia monster.

The Samsung i8510 also packs with some massive storage memory - a 8GB and a 16GB version will be available - much like the Samsung Omnia (you didn't hear us say Apple iPhone, did you?). That storage is further expandable via a microSD card slot.

BlackBerry Gets New Look and Feel with Thunder

Seems that we have new images floating around about the not-yet-released Research in Motion touchscreen BlackBerry 9500, also known as the “Thunder”. Running OS 4.7, this features a glass 360×480 touch display and has the ability to go into portrait view and play music from the media player, watch movies or videos. The “Thunder” will have a carrier music store similar to the iPhone’s iTunes that allows users to purchase songs from their device.

The BlackBerry Thunder 9500 will run on a new Blackberry OS that's fully touch-centric and will sport a 2.5" 65K color touchscreen TFT display with 360 x 480 pixels resolution. Most importantly it will be a hybrid device, working in GSM and EV-DO networks supporting EDGE/HSDPA and built-in GPS.

The Thunder will have a built-in camera - no word of how many mega pixels or release date.

Samsung has officially announced its real iPhone killin' device. Instinct is just not smart enough to compete with Apple's handset, but the 12.5mm-thick i900 certainly is. Specs of this Beauty are:

Smart Touch by Gigabyte

Gigabyte presented a new batch of Windows Mobile Pro devices at the Computex 2008. The new devices include the GSmart MS802 and MS820. The company also showcased the existing devices GSmart MS800 and GSmart MS808, which were announced in February at the MWC 2008.

The GSmart MS802 is the successor of the existing MS800 and updates the feature set with a 3 megapixel camera (as opposed to the 2 megapixel one in MS800). The MS802 still offers a 2.8-inch QVGA display, fast Intel 520MHz CPU, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and a SiRF Star III GPS receiver.

The other new handset, the Gigabyte GSmart MS820 is the first Windows Mobile device with a built-in 5 megapixel autofocus camera. But besides that, the GSmart MS820 is a capable device in all respects as it also flaunts a VGA display, a fast Intel 520MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS, Bluetooth plus a microSD card slot. 3G iPhone at 42mbps HSPA

Sure, it's great and all that the next-generation iPhone will launch with the 3G bits to finally get jiggy with 3G networks the world over. But, even the 7.2Mbps HSPA data connection that's expected to be in the cards for the 3G iPhone would only make the faster, second-generation iPhone as fast as other high-end handset offerings on market - a bit of a joy-kill, but it's true.

A Telstra Wireless exec is purported to have told Australia's ChannelNews that the next-generation iPhone is expected to be capable of super-fast 3G speeds upwards of 42Mbps. "We know what is coming, we have seen the new device and it will be available on our network as soon as it is launched in the USA," said the telecom exec. "By Xmas this phone will be capable of 42mbs which will make it faster than a lot of broadband offerings and the fastest iPhone on any network in the world."

Not only would Evolved HSPA make the 3G iPhone the fastest iPhone in the world, it would be the fastest handset (in terms of data speeds) on the planet. And, considering that we'd be hard-pressed to find anyone out there rocking a broadband data connection faster than around 11Mbps for residential service, Evolved HSPA is faster than almost all broadband connections, not just "a lot" of them. Of course, bigger businesses use broadband connections with faster speeds than any residential hookup could ever deliver, so that could be what the exec was referencing.

HTC has unveiled yet another addition to their Touch range of Windows Mobile handsets and are calling it the Touch Diamond. Apart from making it look elegant HTC has, of course incorporated their TouchFLO technology into the Diamond as well, but with one slight adjustment – The Diamond’s TouchFLO interface comes with a 3D effect.

The new TouchFLO 3D provides animated access to messaging, email, photos, music, weather and other features. In addition, HTC is introducing a new innovative touch-sensitive control for interacting with Touch Diamond. The Diamond also incorporates HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA wireless connectivity and has a new customized mobile Web browser with features for zooming and panning sites with one-hand and automatically view optimized content that has been specially created to fit the display. Turning the device sideways automatically rotates the web page view from a portrait to landscape view. The Diamond also has a YouTube application and Google Maps.

It has a 2.8 inch VGA touch screen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with an optical auto-focus lens and advanced wireless and auto sensor screen pivoting. Apple iPhone India launch likely in Sept.

Indians will no longer need to illegally buy, unlock and then use the most-desired item on gadget lovers’ lists — the Apple iPhone. Its much-awaited and delayed India launch is expected with telecom operator Vodafone in the first week of September.

The Cupertino, California-based company, according to Apple retail sources, said initially the 8 GB version of the much-hyped touchscreen device — which combines Wi-Fi capabilities with a powerful email client, TV feeds, online music store and map-based location guide — will be launched at a price ranging between Rs 27,200 and Rs 28,000.

Based on buyer response, the launch of the 16 GB version will be staggered to the middle of 2009.

Apple sources in Singapore, when contacted last month, had maintained that the India launch would happen in 2008, but were tight-lipped on the exact date.

Apple reportedly claims to have shipped four million iPhones this January since its US launch on June 29 last year, and its chief Steve Jobs has targeted sales of 10 million units by December 2008.

Nokia 6300 gets Wi-Fi

Nokia’s slim and classy looking 6300 has just got an upgrade. 6300i is what it’s being called and it’s going to be loaded with features that include Wi-Fi and VoIP support. Of course you may also remember the Nokia 6301 that was launched recently that also came with Wi-Fi with the addition of UMA technology. Somehow though it didn't seem like the handset caught on too strong. Oh well, three's a charm. Apart from all that the 6300i still retains the S40 OS.

The 6300i may retain the same design as its predecessor but thankfully it’s distinguishable by its Graphite Grey color that’s quite catchy. It still has a 2-inch QVGA display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 16 million colors. Like the 6300 the 6300i comes with a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP support, miniUSB connectivity, stereo FM radio and a 2.5mm earphone socket for the headset. It also supports external memory with microSD cards. There’s another handy feature that the handset comes preinstalled with - Nokia Maps. Though don’t get your hopes up guys it doesn’t have in-built GPS, you will have to use an external adapter. Of course the 6300i also supports GPRS and EDGE.

The Nokia 6300i will be available for about Rs. 10,914(175 Euro)(Approx) .It should be released in the second quarter of 2008.
