I NEED YOUR HELP BADLY!!!!!!

I’ve known Lou Norman for a couple of years and It’s like he’s my “brotha from anotha mutha!!”  We both own well respected audio shops (Lou own ENORMIS Mobile Specialties in Erie PA), we both have some crazy ideas about advertising and promotion and we’re both extremely passionate about what we do. Lou is even an active Parrothead!

At least once a week, one of us is bouncing an idea off the other… I’d like to claim the Facebook fan page as my own (it really is!), but Lou might see it differently.  Anyway, The other day, I was bragging to Lou that I had over 300 fans…

He, of course said that he got his 150 fans in only a couple of weeks… As the ego’s flared, our competitive nature came to the surface..  And the PA Facebook 500 was born.

Starting immediately, Lou and I are in a race to add 500 fans to our pages.  I need to hit 812 and Lou needs to hit 652. The Prize: The loser buys the winner a pair of Round Trip tickets to anywhere in the continental US!

I want to win this one… Forget about the vacation that I can rub under Lou’s nose… I just want to win!  I’ll have bragging rights for years to come… Erie is a much bigger market than Lehighton and “I think” that Lou has a geographic advantage… You will tell you that since Mobile Edge is in business longer (since 1994) that I have the advantage… Blah Blah Blah!!!  That makes me want to win even more!!!

A couple weeks ago, Russell called to tell me about his latest adventure: The Prius Drive Thru. Essentially, Toyota is sponsoring Russell and his wife to go on an 8000 mile journey around the US. He will be driving a 2010 Prius Hybrid. The trip will be a photo-documentary of sorts with Russell taking pictures and video and posting them on Toyota’s site, the Prius Drive Thru fan page on Facebook and various other sites. They will also be actively Twittering throughout the trip. This is part of a new marketing initiative from Toyota so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out!  Follow along and enjoy what are sure to be some incredible pictures and videos.

As our contribution, we tinted the windows on the Prius and the guys gave it a through exterior detailing. Check out the pictures below.

First of all, I want to apologize for the long delay since my last post. I am hard at work on an extensive Home A/V project with my other company, Cutting Edge Home Entertainment. We ran over 5 miles of wire, 21 zones of audio and video, 16 sources including a high end media server, and 2 six foot tall racks filled to the brim with A/V equipment. This was an extremely cool project to work on and, with any luck, I will be closing up a major portion of the job this week. Once that is done, you can rest assured that I will get back to posting regular content on the Mobile Edge site.

A couple of weeks ago, Alan approached me about possibly assisting them with a charitable event that they had going.  I am always a bit apprehensive when approached about donations and rarely donate unless very impressed with the situation.  When Alan explained what he was doing, I realized that I had to be part of this.  Alan, along with 3 of his friends are driving bicycles across the United States in 9 days!

Their team is called Drew’s Crew and is part of the NF Endurance Team.  Drew’s Crew is named for Drew Budlong who suffers from Neurofibromatosis.  According to Wikipedia,  ”Neurofibromatosis (commonly abbreviated NF) is a genetically-inherited disease in which nerve tissue grows tumors (e.g. neurofibromas) that may be harmless or may cause serious damage by compressing nerves and other tissues.”

When someone that you respect and admire is committing to drive 3000 miles on a bicycle to raise money for a sick child, it is kind of hard to say no to helping out!   Alan needed some help on one of his chase vehicles.  The vehicle, a 2007 Tahoe which is owned by Alan, needed a few modifications.  They needed a power inverter installed, outdoor speakers mounted to the roof, the ability to hook up a microphone to the system and play an iPod through the outside speakers.

Since the vehicle has a true 2 zone system installed from factory, we were able to do all of this without cutting a single wire… the system is completely hidden out of site  and removable without a trace of it ever being there.  Memphis Car Audio and one of our distributors donated the equipment and Mobile Edge donated all the miscellaneous parts, microphone, and labor.   Click on any of the pictures at the bottom of this post to learn more about the project at our Flickr site.

Early this week, a group of college students left PA with all of the chase vehicles headed for California.
