Motorola Barrage clamshell

The Motorola Barrage is not your standard mobile phone as it can apparently survive in conditions of high and low temperatures. Believe it or not the phone has been certified to military specs and is ruggedized against shock/vibration, dust, high or low temperatures, and altitude. It’s also waterproof in up to one meter of water for about 30 minutes.

It comes with a two megapixel camera, dedicated external music controls, GPS navigation, a 2.5mm headset jack and a microSD memory card slot.

It’s expected to go on sale in the U. S. on the Verizon network for about $130 with a two-year contract. It also has push to talk available unlimited for an extra five dollars a month.

Motorola Tao (Sholes) Android-smartphone

We are always getting lots of rumors flying around the Internet and the new phones and apparently this is the Motorola Tao (Sholes) which will be using the Android operating system. According to the various rumors it will come with a a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera, wireless adapters are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS-receiver and microSD-slot. Size of a smartphone - 115,8 h60×13, 7 mm, and weight - 169 grams.

Nokia 2705 Shade Clamshell - Heading For Verzion Wireless

They simply little budget low end phone from Nokia is heading for the Verizon network. The Nokia 2705 Shade comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera it will have access to the VZ NavigatorSM, as well as the manufacturer indicates that this phone has the largest screen among the phones of similar size.

It’s expected that the phone will be available for around $30 with a two-year contract and will be on sale from October 6.

HTC Leo to be released next month

According to some reports the HTC Leo is expected to be launched by O2 on the 12th of October. The smart phone which comes on Windows Mobile 6.5 come with a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a 4.3 inch touch screen.

This will be the first Windows mobile operating system handset that HTC have launched in a while because they have been concentrating on the Android operating system as of late. Although the phone is expected to be on sale from O2 within the next two weeks currently there is no available information on pricing or contract terms.

When we are doing reviews on phones for this website we come across lots of videos comparing different handsets against the Apple iPhone. Today is no different as we now have a comparison video between the Samsung Eternity and the iPhone.

To be honest the videos lasted for around 12 1/2 minutes and in that time you do get the feeling that the Samsung is one of the few phones with features that are very comparable.

LG New Chocolate BL20 headed to O2 UK

LG’s New Chocolate BL20 mobile phone will be available in Q4 of the court to network. It’s expected the phone will sell for €269 and comes with a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash in a slim casing measuring just 12.3mm.

As you can see from the picture it has a very distinctive red keypad and also features touch sensitive controls which are discreetly concealed on the side of the phone.

Orange UK to sell iPhone 3G and 3GS

It looks like the exclusive deal that O2 have had with iPhone in the UK is coming to an end. News just hitting the wire is that Orange will apparently be selling this phone in the near future. Although details are not clear as to pricing tariffs it will be interesting to see what type of pricing and tariffs they will offer when it is launched.

It will also be interesting to see if one of the other networks in Ireland decided to sell this. I’m sure it will give O2 a little run for there money because we all know the data plan they offer is not great compared to what is on offer from O2 in the UK.

I do like the iPhone and I had one for a couple of years now but I have not had a chance to use the 3GS version to see if it is much quicker than the older first released one. It will also be interesting to see what the interest is in the phone in the UK once it is launched by another network. I suppose many people that want to use them on other networks probably have unlocked versions of the mobile phone already.

MMS Now on The iPhone

News I’m only reading today is that last Friday AT&T pushed out MMS for the iPhone. Apparently AT&T sent text messages to their iPhone customers informing them that picture and video messaging (MMS) was now available.

In order to get this working on their iPhone 3GS phones they need to connect it up to iTunes and check for updates. When this is done you will receive notification that there is a carrier settings update available by simply downloading this and restarting the phone apparently it should be ready to go.

It’s amazing that finally after all these years MMS is now available. I just wonder how many people will actually use this on their phones now. After it is not being available for so long I wonder if many users have completely forgotten what it was and what it’s like to have it. I’m also curious to know if there are any extra charges for using this. As most people in the US are probably on contracts it will most likely not cost that much if anything to use the MMS service. I wonder will this be the same case if it comes here, we know about what we pay here compared to our friends in the United States and United Kingdom is so much more and we all saw how limited data usage.

We also have pay-as-you-go options here in Ireland so I wonder how much will the chargeed involved or is there the special pricing because it’s an iPhone.
