To me, it looks like RIM has jumped on the overpriced digital media content train. At least, whomever runs that video store has. Pricing seems ridiculously high for content of that size and sometimes quality. Twenty dollars for a digital copy of a movie I can buy a hard copy of for half or less seems excessive to me. I’ve seen this kind of pricing before and have made sure to stay clear of it and it looks like I will again. The library seems small too, but I suppose that is because it’s new.

Will you be using the video store to rent or purchase movies or tv shows?

Updated from 2.0 beta to 2.0 yesterday.
All worked ok, but the remote control in bridge wasn’t an option.
So I uninstalled bridge from the bb and removed the link from playbook. Reinstalled and configured bridge. I then had the remote control option in bridge.
I worked away with it for the evening, but this morning, I noticed the bridge apps were not working.
It tries to launch then gives error 404.
Same for contacts,calendar,email, bbm etc.
I tried setting up the bridge from scratch a few times, and tried disabling a few options in the bluetooth options, to no avail.
Any ideas?

Although I was able to ‘Pair’ my Blue Ant Q2 to my PB, I was not able to get any audio to my Q2 BT headset. Well, unless I was doing something incorrectly with the previous OS, I’m now able to listen to audio via the Q2 with OS 2.0!

Can’t wait to get NetFlix app working via the Android Market.

How sweet it is?????

Edit: I meant “A2DP” – Not “APD2″!

Ok I have a question and this is not 2.0 bashing. I love 99% of it. It really is sweet and the changes are incredible….but right now I am really focused on the 1% that is driving me nuts. The calendar. I don’t understand why I have 2 BB devices that cannot be sync’d through a cloud service, without the need of google or some other 3rd party app. It really is bugging me. I can’t seem to get this to work out. My google sync is all screwed up….it runs….but nothing shows in my calendar. And PB will only sync the main calendar so any BBM group calendars don’t show. That is crazy. BB to BB should be working seemlessly. Not all these “work arounds”. I don’t mean to sound so negative….I really do love my PB….I just want this to work. And the question I have is where did Tungle.me go? I can’t find it in appworld any more. It seems to me that this would be the answer to RIM’s “cloud service” issues.

I’m sure your thinking…

“Then use the android version”

Only problem is the android port doesn’t support the playbook camera, which is a major issue for me.

I was hoping that this would be fixed when the official 2.0 was released but no such luck.

Has anyone had any luck getting the camera to work?

It’s not a major problem (it hardly even counts as a minor problem), it looks like the icon just has the wrong device command, but I was wondering if it’s just me.

Thanks for any help enlightening me.

This thread isn’t unique but I felt the need to express my gratitude toward RIM and the development team for a really smooth and simple rollout.

While I only received my PB in December I can’t say that I’ve been “waiting forever” for functions “that should have been shipped with the early release”, though I’m not disagreeing with that sentiment. OS 2.0 beta was enough to tide me over until February so I’ll count myself lucky.

That said, I find the bridge-to-PB link-up flawless. The ability to turn off particular emails or other pushed information to my PB by way of my BB phone is outstanding and exactly what I’d expect to happen. While I’m not big on the two-finger scrolling, the Alt-trackpad and/or Alt-caps alternatives are the perfect combination for my 9900 and fingers. It feels natural and leaves me scared only that one day I’ll need a new Alt key at the rate I’m going.

The OS 2 release and OS 2 beta don’t differ much as far as UI is concerned so, to that end, I have no complaints or comments. The native apps that came along with the official release, however, really have me watering at the mouth. I wish there was an option to merge duplicate contacts into one withing the address book but beyond that everything feels very fluid transitioning from the BB OS 7 interface to PB 2. The mail app took no more than a minute or two to get used to while the calendar is a really interesting way to manage one’s time. I feel that both of them work exactly as I expected and I’m happy to have stuck around long enough to given them a whirl.

My only suggestions for RIM, and maybe this is just one man’s request, are the following:

1. The ability by way of remote control on bridge to highlight, copy, paste, and whatnot text on my PB. I wrote an email earlier where I wanted a word in italics that I’d already written. I scrolled over to it but found no way to highlight the word. I ended up erasing it and re-writing with the italics button down. Not a major gripe but it could be a pain when I’ve got whole sentences or paragraphs to edit.

2. A shortcut or swipe to bring one to the top/bottom of a page and/or screen by way of both bridge and non-bridge.

3. A much better file explorer. File management is nice and all but file explorer (à la BB phone) is a much more useful and powerful tool. The downloadable app Files & Folders is exactly what I expected the PB to come with stock.

4. I’d like to see any and all languages supported on the PB (removable as one wishes, of course) and on the phone bridged to it available as input. Specifically Korean, Chinese, and Japanese support, but maybe that’s just me. Chinese (or all) handwriting would be nice too. That is, if I have German as an input language on both my phone and my PB I’d like to see it as an input by way of bridge. Same goes for the CJKs.

Alas, I’m sure there are little nitpicky things I could get at too, but in the end I’m very happy and satisfied with my PB. I never had anything to complain about before and now I’m nothing but smiles.

Thank you RIM for this very fluid experience and thank you CB for keeping me addicted to my RIM devices. ^^

I recently purchased a BlackBerry Bold 9900 (about 3 weeks ago). Since then I haven’t had any problems and absolutely love the phone until this morning. I keep it in the case it comes with and I put it in my dresser when I went outside to work so it would’t get banged around while working. When I came inside about 3 hours later it was off and when I tried to turn it on, the red light would go on just once for a few seconds, the scroll box I guess I could call it (it replaced the ball) lit up without the call button or anything else lighting up then it turned off along with the red light and there was no activity. I took the battery out and placed it back in and it turned on. I’m just curious if anyone else has had any problems like this and wondering what could be causing it and if there is reason for concern.:D
