If you have a rooted android, then perhaps titanium backup is the most must have application for you. The name suggests that it is an application to make a backup of android applications in system, but it is much more than this.
The most interesting feature of titanium backup is the "freeze app" feature. It means you can simply freeze some of the processes that keep one running in background no matter you need it or not. The most annoying for me is the software update and mail processs, as i never update through them nor check mail from default apps. So, I just freeze them. In this way, they are not uninstalled from system, but are removed from memory. Although titanium backup is able to uninstall any application from system,; whether system application or user application, but its a better idea to freeze them to avoid any accidental malfunctioning. This feature is not available in free version, but here is the full version of it to use it.

This useful application holds its importance in the fact that it can be used with applications that dont have touch support in touch phones. Although you won't get the exact same experience as with keypad phones, but still it is worth trying.

Using this application is also simple. You need jar file of the application which you want to modify. After that, if your phone doesn't support modifying jar files (like in nokia phones), then you first need to rename that jar file to .zip. After this, open this embedder and using its file manager like interface, simply select the renamed zip file. A new folder named as "mamun" will be created in which you will find the modifed file. Here is the app which was awaited by many. The handerUi embedder. It adds handler menu in java apps so as to get more control over the network. The instructions of using this app are given to us as follows:

Step 1:
Install HandlerUI Embeeder app.
Step 2:
Create 2 folders (Folder1, Folder2).
Step 3:
Unpack the file you want to mod to Folder1.
Step 4:
Launch HandlerUI Embedder.
Step 5:
Browse and Set the Input Folder Path. sample location; e://Folder1.
Step 6:
Browse and Set the Out Folder Path. sample location; e://Folder2. This is where the modded and finished file goes.
Step 7:
Start Patch. Wait for a few minutes, this depends if its large file it may take longer. If done. Exit app, Open your File Manager like X-plore 1.58 or Minicommander 4.2 go to ouput Folder2 then repack all files to .jar.
Step 8:
Exit File Manager. Locate and Install. The modded app is auto named with HandlerUI.

My experience is that this app will not work correctly or fast in s40 phones, but it works well in s60's. Try it on your phone !

If your android's battery is draining when you are using it, it seems ok and the reason is understood. But if the battery drains even when you don't much use it, then its really annoying. The reason behind this is that the apps continuously remain in memory even in standby.

Most of these apps are meaningless usually, so its better to have an app that will automatically kill it as soon as they starts. Exact same thing is done by the Advanced task manager. You can check the apps that automatically starts and occupies memory and processor. Then, you can enable auto kill, so that while your phone is in standby, the application doesn't consume valuable battery.

Here is the famous opera mini mod with handler menu in it. Opera mini mod is the most perfect browser in the world with lots of features. There are literally so many features that you will get tired of setting them. So, it is better to save settings and write them in separate backup file after finishing. UCweb 8.5 cloud handler 205 with italic font by Raintime

Few days back, UC team released their wonderful 8.5 cloud version. After few days, dzebb had done what he does best in the world. He had made handler of it with cool black color. Further modification have been done by Raintime and had implemented italic fonts in it. The application looks great and cool now, along with the extra features that can be used to fully customize network according to own needs !

Manually Setting Http, Real Host and Reverse Proxy Server for Opera Mini

Hi,

Here I will tell you a method to manually edit opera mini 6.x and 7 to set http, Real host and Reverse proxy servers. Good thing is you can do all this in your java enabled mobile itself, while sitting comfortably and listening songs! Note that this tutorial is for free http, host and reverse proxy servers. Some other modification is to be done in order to mod opera for proxy servers with username and password (although it is also very similar). I am using opera mini 7 for this tutorial. So here it starts.

Steps:

1) Rename opera mini’s jar file to zip file if needed. Extract the Code.class file to a separate folder (Yes, create a separate folder with easy name. Like I have created a folder name Input for this. Only Code.class file should be in that folder!)

2) Close mini commander. Open Code.class with Byte code Editor. Four options will be displayed. Choose search. Enter the search term as setRequest. Two methods will be displayed as result. Choose <init> and click on it. (It is actually constructor).

3) Once opened, the code of this method will be displayed. Go to second last line (just before return) .Hit centre key to make space for a new line. Now you have to enter code for adding desired proxy server in this new line space. Here is the code to set server:

Here, “X-Forwarded-For” is the packet used to set reverse proxy, and 100.100.100.100:8080 is the proxy server to be set as reverse proxy. If you want to set http server, then in place of X-Forwarded-For, use “X-Online-Host”; and for Simple Real Host, use “Host”. So, the headers and their set proxy are:

Http-> X-Online-Host

Real Host-> Host

Reverse Proxy-> X-Forwarded-For

After writing, adjust the spacing in the manner shown in screenshot:

4) Press right soft key, select save. Again the 4 options will appear. This time, press options and save again. It will give notification that saving is successful.

5) Now close byte code editor. Open preverifier. Write the location of your folder where you have placed Code.class file (“Input” in my case). Similarly select the output folder. If you have more files placed in the input folder, the time taken to complete process will increase. That’s why I said place only one Code.class file in input folder. Click on preverify, and the process will start. It will take some time to finish because it is a big file. It took a little more than 5 minutes in my s60v3 phone. After completed. It will give a success message.

6) Now place the preverified class file from the output folder back into the opera mini using mini commander. That’s it!

Note: After you modify and save the class file from byte code editor, open it again and see if the strings of server and proxy type are set correctly. Sometimes the strings automatically get replaced by something else. In this case, open that class file, go to constant pool, search for the string that is coming automatically and change it to server and header strings.

Modify Java Application for Pre Embedded background Image

Here I will give a tutorial on how to add a transparent background image to j2me applications like opera mini, uc browser and similar applications. There is already application for transparent background embedding, but for this we have to choose image from memory card. so each time the modded application starts, we have to choose allow reading data etc.
By this tutorial, you will be able to mod applications with built in background image, so the application will not ask for permission for reading the background image file. The best part is that you don't need any computer to do it, all the work is done in a simple j2me mobile phone only.

The tutorial is dividing into two parts- Modding the desired image to fit exactly your screen size and modding the actual application.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

1) Mini Commander (Download)

2) Paintcad (Download)

3) Transparent background Embedder (Download)

PART I: CREATING DESIRED SIZE IMAGE

1) Download any of your desired image that you want to use as your background. Take care that the image is not too big in size. 20kB-30Kb images are good for this. I have selected this image for background.

2) Now you have to open paintcad and choose the canvas size greater than or equal to the size of original downloaded image. Set the size of canvas to 500x500 from following procedure. if your phone is having trouble in forming 500x500 size, you can decrease it. But take care the size is larger than the size of selected image file. Follow this procedure to select canvas size:

Open paintcad -> select 8bpp picture-> Custom size->height=500; width=500 and press OK

If your phone can handle this size image, it will be opened.

3) Now we will change the size of this image according to our phone’s screen size. To do this, follow this sequence:

Once image is loaded, press right joystick key, a menu will open-> click on raster size-> press “screen” button to automatically fit the image according to screen; or manually give the size of you screen. After this, press OK.

4) The image’s size will now according to phones screen size. Its size will be given at bottom. Now press 0, a menu will open, press save. Save this newly resized image file as per your choice. But remember this name. I save this file as back.png. After saving, again press 0 and exit paintcad. The first part finishes here!

PART II: MODDING APPLICATION:

1 1) (I am using opera mini 7 here)Rename your application’s jar file to zip if needed. Open transparent background embedder. Press left soft button-> a menu will open-> click on the second option. (It’s for settings).

1 2) Setting window will now open. In the first box, there is setting for the path of image file to be loaded. It will be like file:///E:/image.jpg. Delete this whole string, enter new path as /back.png

Means, only a forward slash and the name of image file which you have created . Recall, I have set the name of image file as back.png, that’s why I had given this name. You must use the name which you have given. But the forward slash is a must. You can also select the transparency level. After doing this, press “Simpan”, it is to save the settings.

3) After adjusting the file path, browse to the location where you have the application to be mod. Click on the applications zip or jar file and the modding will start. Wait till the process finishes.

4) When process ends, exit the embedder, go to your storage location. A new folder with name “by Elang” will be created, open it. You will see your modified application there. Now just one more thing is to be done.

5) If the modded application is in jar format, again rename it to zip. Open minicommander now. Insert the image back.png into the modded application using it. If you don’t know how to insert it, do this:

In one panel, open the location where you have saved you background image file (back.png in my case). In other panel, open the zip file in which the image file needs to be inserted.Place the cursor/ highlighter/ selector over the file that needs to be inserted. Once this adjustment is done, simply press key 5. It will ask to set the compression. Most phones support 5 or 6. Set it and press Ok. Now your file will be inserted in the archive. I have shown this in screenshot.

Now your application is completely modded and ready to use.

Rename the application back to jar. Install it, it will have the background image as selected, but it will not ask for any permission to read the image file. Here is the screenshot of how this splash looks in opera mini 7.

j2me SDK mobile by Mumey

j2me sdk mobile is a compiler plus source code editor for java enabled mobile phones. It means that users can create and compile j2me applications directly in their mobile. This application is old, yet it is the best available compiler so far. It also have the option to directly add external jar file packages.
The files and folders created by it is similar to netbeans in structure. It is able to compile the files, and create jar and jad files in approximately 1 minute. I have used it in my s60v3, and it works great. Also, if your phone doesn't allow to edit and create jar files, then in the application, go to settings, and then rename the created jar files to _jar from .jar. Then whenever you want to install the created jar file, you can rename it back to .jar. The application is also signed. If the signed don't works, then use the jar file directly.

Uc browser is known for it speed, features and awesome full functional download manager. For java users, they are making Uc with new interface. Many people like it, while some don't. For s60 versions,
there is no change in the interface, so all the features remain secured. Uc browser also provides unique feature of online net-disk to store your files on an online disk if your network is too bad to download a file. You can then download that file from the online disk when your network is good again.
In this beta, the functions of the previous beta 1 are optimized, as well some of the bugs is said to be removed. In case you get Chinese page, just go to settings, clear the user data, exit the browser and re-initialize it.
