Motorola just unveiled a bunch of new demo videos for Android 4.0, showcasing the features of the OS and especially the new UI elements. Don’t worry as the interface hasn’t changed that much from the stock version of the latest Android, so all of you Motoblur haters can rest easy.

I’m not a big fan of Motoblur myself and although that name doesn’t exist anymore, the custom UI from Motorola exists and it didn’t impress me on the Droid RAZR. The only thing that did was the app that can be set up to perform tasks in certain circumstances or at certain locations and times of day. Back to the videos, you can see them below, showing what Android 4.0 brings to your compatible Motorola phone. The lockscreen now includes 4 shortcuts instead of two, with the two new ones being the phone and messages app.

The icons and widgets were also given a different look, while everything else looks pretty much the same. The camera UI seems pretty unique to me, both in icons and in the placement of options, plus I find the timelapse feature to be very interesting, even on a modern phone. I wish more modern handsets had such options… In case you’re wondering, the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX are expected to get Android ICS in the coming weeks.

HTC One V has finally arrived here at GSMDome.com for testing purposes and it completes the One series, that we already reviewed here, through the One X and One S models. This is the lower end unit of the One series, offering a 1 GHz CPU and a smaller 3.7 inch display. Let’s see what’s inside the box:

The One V comes bundled with a pair of headphones (non Beats), a charger, a charger adapter, a microUSB cable and the usual pair of manuals. The handset, unlike the One X and One S has a microSD card slot and also a SIM slot, both of them placed at the lower back side, opposite of the front chin. They’re covered with a plastic lid, that easily slides off. HTC One V features a 3.7 inch display, with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, it runs Android 4.0 with HTC Sense 4.0 UI and offers 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM.

At the back there’s a 5MP camera and in case you’re wondering the phone is available in black and Jupiter Rock, the latter being the color we’re testing. There’s no secondary camera here at the front and if you want audio quality, you’ve got it, via the Beats Audio technology integrated. Under the hood there’s a 1500 mAh battery, but more about the specs and other details you’ll find out from the full review in the next days!

Pretty creepy seeing a long awaited phone priced at $666, right? Well, here’s the Nokia 808 PureView 41MP handset spotted in USA some retailers, pried at the amount mentioned before. The handset seems to be well priced and we don’t know if taxes are already applied or not.

US based retailer Negri Electronics is the one offering the product, in case you’re wondering. For those who are lazy to do conversions, this equals to 532 euros or 425 quid. Expansys also has the cameraphone listed for the huge price of $829.99. We’re only weeks away from the release of the phone, a pretty thick device that measures 13.9mm, weighs 169 grams and features an AMOLED 4 inch display with a measly 360 x 640 pixel resolution. It’s a ClearBlack display here, as usual.

Of course, the drawing point of the handset is the 41 megapixel camera with 38 MP effective resolution, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and Xenon flash. It’s also got 16GB of storage, 1 GB ROM, 512MB of RAM and… Symbian. Back to the camera, it offers a 1/1.2″ sensor size, ND filter, up to 4x lossless digital zoom, geotagging, face detection and 1080p 30 fps video capture. Powering this gizmo is a 1.3 GHz ARM 11 processor. So, considering the prices and specs, will you get one?

Apple updated iOS to version 5.1.1 earlier this month and only added minor features to it, but it’s only now that the update comes to the GSM iPhone 4. The Next Web is reporting that iPhone hacker iH8sn0w posted details about the update on his Twitter account.

The new version of the build is 9B208 and not 9B206 as expected, used in the previous version. We’re not sure that the update brings, other than the usual connectivity and performance upgrades, although it’s interesting to see this release now, just hours after Absinthe brought untethered jailbreaking to iOS 5.1.1 devices, including the new iPad. The GSM iPhone 4 users have already upgrade to 5.1.1, but the problem is that this update is not vulnerable to the untethered jailbreak offered by pod2g.

If you still want the update, you can get it via OTA or iTunes. I’m sure that pod2g and co will find a way to also make the untethered jailbreak work with the iPhone 4 GSM with iOS 5.1.1 new update, but that may take some more days…

Well, Sony went back on its promise to upgrade “all 2011 Xperia models” to Android ICS and the first victim is the Xperia Play. Apparently, this device will stick to Android 2.3 Gingerbread and this news comes after Motorola announced that people actually don’t need Android 4.0 on some of its older models, yet another peculiar choice.

Anyway, as far as the Xperia Play goes Sony Mobile announced yesterday that the plans for updating it to Android 4.0 are dead, due to compatibility issues with the gaming features. Phone Scopp is saying that Ice Cream Sandwich demands too much of its hardware and apps require more RAM, processing power and bandwidth. The developer community feedback and internal testing also confirm these limitations on the beta ROM software release, so they tried to get Android 4.0 on it but didn’t succeed.

A decline in user experience is found when running newer games with better graphics. Since gaming is a vital part of the Xperia Play experience, crippling it with Android 4.0 wouldn’t be recommended. Sony’s decision applies to both AT&T and Verizon Wireless models, plus those in Europe. IT’s been a year since the Play launched on Verizon and it’s still sticking to the same OS…

Samsung Galaxy S III, the most talked about phone of the first half of 2012 will be coming to USA and Canada next month, according to rumors. The launch of the quad core Exynos phone is supposed to go down on June 20th, if we’re to believe some sources speaking to The Verge.

We remind you that the Galaxy S III hits Europe on May 29th and as far as North America goes, Samsung said that the phone will arrive in June. MobileSyrup recently posted a screenshot showing a June 20th release of the handset, with availability on carriers such as Rogers, Bell, Telus and Virgin Mobile in Canada. The site says that it was asked to take down the screenshot, but the image still remains online, courtesy of some other sites that snapped a pic of it.

TMoNews is also reporting that it received a tip concerning the launch of the Galaxy S III on T-Mobile. The metallic blue version is scheduled to arrive on June 20th as well, according to the site. The white version will only debut on July 11th, in the 16GB storage amount alone. On the same people on T-Mobile will also get the Galaxy Note and two new MyTouch devices manufactured by Huawei, so it will be a full summer for T-Mobile.

Last I checked the Huawei Acend P1 S was the world’s thinnest smartphone, at 6.68 mm in waistline, barely beating a Fujitsu Arrows phone, that previously held that title. And now there’s another Asian company responsible for “the thinnest phone ever”, Oppo. You can see their device below.

We’re dealing here with an Android smartphone that’s 6.65 mm in waistline and that recently got teased by its maker. The phone is called Oppo Finder and it comes with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display and 8 megapixel camera. The latter supports 1080p video capture and is accompanied by a 1.3 megapixel camera at the front, with 720p video capture. Insiders say that the Finder will be available for pre-order starting with June 6 and it will be priced at around $632.

I’m really curios if the Android experience on the device has been customized or not, but at least the icons have, as the pictures published on the web show. When will this rush to make the thinnest phone stop? I’m sure they’ll move entirely into a new segment of competition when the first smartphone with flexible display will launch…

According to a leaked document obtained by Neowin, Dell will launch a 10.8-inch tablet with 1,366 x 768-pixel resolution and a dual-core Atom processor later this year. The slate will also be equipped with a fingerprint reader, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, Intel graphics, 2GB of RAM and a massive 128GB solid-state drive. Unlike many other tablets, Dell has included a removable battery that will come in two sizes. A smaller battery will get between six and eight hours of battery life, while a larger one will offer between 10 and 12 hours of usage per charge. The tablet is  launch, and no pricing details were reported.

on Friday confirmed that it no longer plans to update its smartphone to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich due to compatibility issues with the device’s gaming features, Phone Scoop reported. “Ice Cream Sandwich demands more from the phone hardware than Gingerbread,” a Sony spokesperson said. “Android 4.0 is a more powerful OS and thus, more resource intensive – applications require more RAM, CPU power, and network bandwidth. From internal testing and feedback from the developer community on the beta ROM software release, we have seen a significant decline in user experience when running high performance games, as they are more demanding on the hardware. As gaming content is so integral to the core Xperia Play proposition, we cannot recommend an upgrade.” Sony’s decision will affect both the AT&T and Verizon Wireless models, as well as models sold overseas. The Xperia Play launched on Verizon last May and AT&T this past September.

PayPal earlier this year announced  that allowed customers to make point-of-sale transactions with their smartphones in more than 2,000 locations. The e-commerce company on Thursday announced that 15 new national retailers have signed on for PayPal’s in-store mobile payment service. These include, Abercrombie & Fitch, Advance Auto Parts, Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, Guitar Center, Jamba Juice, JC Penney, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Nine West, Office Depot, Rooms To Go, Tiger Direct and Toys“R”Us. “We can’t wait to launch with these great retailers, and help them serve their customers better through PayPal,” PayPal president David Marcus said. “Consumers are relying on technology now more than ever to simplify their lives when it comes to shopping and paying, and retailers must adapt to this shift or risk becoming irrelevant.” PayPal plans to sign up as many as 20 national retailers this year.

Pennsylvania-based law firm Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check, LLP on Friday filed a class action lawsuit against Facebook regarding , which was made on March 18th. On the day of its IPO, . This new complaint, which was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, charges Facebook and multiple officers, directors and underwriters with violating the Securities Act of 1933 by failing to disclose or disregarding material adverse facts that were known to them.

“The Complaint asserts that defendants failed to disclose at the time of the IPO that Facebook was then experiencing a severe and pronounced reduction in revenue growth due to an increase in users of its Facebook mobile applications (“apps”) or website through mobile devices rather than through personal computers,” the firm said in a release.

The firm continued, “Additionally, defendants failed to disclose during the roadshow conducted in connection with the IPO, certain Underwriter Defendants reduced their second quarter and full year 2012 performance estimates for Facebook, which revisions were material information which was not shared with all Facebook investors, but rather, was selectively disclosed by defendants to certain preferred investors and omitted from the Offering Materials.”

Investors who purchased Facebook stock can join the class if they wish to participate in the suit, which is still seeking a lead plaintiff.
