N86 vs n97 lowlight shots

Here are a few comparison shots i took to see if the nokia n86 really does perform better than other nseries devices in low light. I pitted the n86 vs the n97 and although the n86 touts a 8mp camera both devices have dual led flash.
Lets take a look at the results and you be the judge to see which one performs better and if Nokia really did what they said in terms of enhancing the low light performance on the n86, feel free to leave your opinion. THETRUTH signing off.

nokia n97 1st Impressions

I am currently trialing the Nokia n97 sent to me from WOM WORLD.

The N97 as a whole is very nice device, I am pleasantly surprised by the speed, and sensitivity of the touch screen. I like the active widgets on the home screen and the build Quality of the device is superb. I have not experienced the buggy issues some have mentioned and happy with battery life so far.

Streaming Live TV from your Mobile Device

You probably remember my post last year about Streaming Live TV from your mobile device. I gave a good example on how to watch streaming Live TV through the skyfire browser.

Now this one is different and does not need a web browser to stream live TV video.

All you need is your S60 Real Player application or the Latest Core Player that supports RTSP, and of course RSTP sites.

Here is the procedure:

-Open notepad on PC.
-Copy the specific code/link.
-Then save as .sdp
-Transfer it to your mobile.

Here are some codes/links I found around the web:

Cartoon Network: rtsp://202.146.92.42/CNT_LIVE.SDP (save as CNT_LIVE.sdp)

MTV: rtsp://202.146.92.42/MTV_LIVE.SDP (save as MTV_LIVE.sdp)

CNN: rtsp://202.146.92.42/CNN_LIVE.SDP (save as CNN_LIVE.sdp)

Discovery Channel: rtsp://202.146.92.42/Discovery_LIVE.SDP (save as Discovery_LIVE.sdp)

I have tested these channels on my Nokia N85 and they work flawlessly. I also tested them on my PC using the latest Real Player, they work great but a little grainy as I think they were intended for mobile viewing.

DISCLAIMER: Make sure you have a higher or unlimited data plan. We are not responsible for high/additional charges. If your phone has WLAN, Preferably use it to avoid charges for Streaming data.

The New Nokia N97 has been released here in the U.S.and so far so good from those that have received it, you can check out some hands on user reviews Here
and dispel some of the rumors of the smaller processor not being powerful enough, and the keyboard being terrible.

Is the N97 Nokia's chance to regain the spotlight once again, there is some tough competition out there The newly Released Palm Pre, and the Just announced Iphone 3g s.

I am Hoping to receive mine within the next few weeks From Dell and i will have a Full unboxing, as well as a full review to follow.

Nokia N86 8MP Begins Shipping Worldwide

Well.. Well.. Well.. Looks like there's another sheriff coming over.. The N97 fever has not even reach its climax yet and here comes Nokia announcing the shipment of the Nokia N86. The 1st Nokia handset that will rock a 8 mega pixel with CZ lens camera.

This happened so fast that this phone is already on sale on eBay and I already found some unboxing photos which you can find by clicking here.

Simply WoW!! Talk about Nokia and its variety of phone choices..

I just hope as fast as the release of the N97 NAM here in the US that they will do the same with the N86..

Now this puts me back in the fence on which phone to get.. Hmmmmnnn..

Touch Screen Phone? or Slider phone with the latest 8MP camera?

Nokia N97 NAM is Officially Out! (Users 1st Impression Thoughts)

First of all let me Congratulate the Nokia NAM Team for beating out other countries to release the Nokia N97 first. This is groundbreaking for Nokia America. Heck they even beat out the UK release. Just sad that Nokia Music is still not available in the US. (Oh well...)

It was a rainy day in NYC yesterday but it did not stop the passionate Nokia users from grabbing the Nokia N97 at the Flagship Store.

A good friend of mine Nathan "aka" nweinstock from Howard Forums was one of the 1st I know to get the device.. Too bad he could not open it as it was for his son David who is also a member on Howard Forums and goes by the name of dweinstock. Still waiting for his thoughts but you can see his anticipation build up if you follow this thread.

Again Congratulation to the Father and Son Weinstock!! David.. I hope you enjoy your new toy!!

Others have posted a new thread to share their excitement on the new N97 they purchased like this one.

While others share their unboxing and gets a sour impression in their mouth like this one.

Unfortunateley no solid word yet on the preorders from Nokia USA if their N97's are shipping out. No members yet on Howard Forums that claim they have receive a tracking info. US Nokia Flagship Stores to Start Selling Nokia N97 NAM June 9th, 2009 (Limited Quantity)

Tipsters.. Tipsters.. via TheNokiaBlog and Symbian-Guru..

If you guys are in the area of NYC and Chicago and wanted to be the first one to own the Nokia N97. Head over to the Nokia Flagship Stores tomorrow June 9th, 2009 at 11am as far as NYC goes. Not totally sure what time the Chicago store will start selling them.

Price: A whooping $699 + tax..

According to sources they will only have the Black one for now and after a week the White one will follow..

So get your Credit/Debit card or Cash ready as I've heard they will have limited quantities..

I just feel bad for the people the pre-ordered the device, as it was advertised by Nokia that they will be the first ones to get it before others.

I just hope they get em ASAP and if not I hope Nokia compensate them for the trouble. (Like give out bluetooth headsets or something..) Nokia Customers are one of the passionate mobile customers. They always go back and buy the latest device.

Nokia E75 NAM Unboxing Video

Surprise.. Surprise.. So was I.. (Thanks to peeps from WOM World Nokia!!)

If you guys remember I just blogged about this yesterday that if I get lucky I will get it tomorrow.

So was I lucky.. This phone arrived at my house today at around 7PM EST.

So my luck did not disappoint me. Might as well do the same for you guys..

So without further ado.. I present you my Nokia E75 NAM Unboxing Video!!

Now lets get down to business!!

1st Impression..

The E75 came with a typical Eseries packaging and Eseries Packaging content.

The E75 is like any Eseries phones with a touch of metal and sleekness.

The numeric buttons felt really comfortable to press. (Don't know yet on how responsive they are.)

The E75 side slide QWERTY is spring assisted and the keys are flat but are at least bigger than the one on the E71 QWERTY. (Again I don't know yet on how responsive they are. I will cover this on my review.)

The slider has a little wobbly feeling to it when slide is open. It has a little give like the one on the N95 when the slider is open.

So far so good that's all from my observation tonight.. I will do my routine testing in the coming weeks and update you guys when the review is ready.

Heads up guys.. Just thought I would share this to my fellow readers..

So I just got me an invitation from the great folks at WOM World Nokia to attend this Nokia Eseries Social Media Event at the Nokia Flagship Store NYC.

Its going to be on June 16, 2009.

Quoted from the Invitation..

"The evening will kick off at 6.30pm and is being held for Nokia Eseries fans (and potential fans!) to meet and chat about the E75 and E71x. It will include Product Manager Q&A sessions, product and application demos and some 'blue sky' thinking sessions - though all in an informal setting, so it should be a lot of fun!"

Oh.. You think that's all? The best part about this is their sending me a Nokia E75 to trial.. (Again thanks to the peeps from WOM for hooking me up!!)

So be on the look out for that as it should arrive to me by tomorrow or Monday.

Will most definitely write a review about it and try to share my unboxing photos or a video.

Users Thoughts on Ovi Store

Was the Ovi Store really ready for the lime light?

Was it a desperation move for Nokia to launch the Ovi Store due to the building competition? (Palm Pre Coming Out, New Apple iPhone announcement, New Android Phones Coming out, etc.)

So many questions needs to be answered by Nokia...

Well I haven't even gotten a chance to prepare a review on my experience with the Ovi Store and yet there are so many unhappy campers complaining about the Ovi Store's flaws.

Here are some Positive and Negative feedbacks I have read so far.

Positive

*Available around the World *Supports a wide Variety of Nokia Phones including the midrange S40 series. *35,000 Content *Self Explanatory Installation

Negative

*Very Slow to navigate *App Compatability issues *Some users gets double charge on their credit cards. *Lack of customer service/tech support.

What bugs me the most is some issues like this one on Howard Forums.

How can you gain confidence to buying apps on Ovi Store if ever you needed to reformat your phone, there is no retrieval of the apps you have purchased. You either have to purchase it over again or email their tech support which does not even work.

I just hope Nokia can fix these issues ASAP so they can turn this thing around and get more users and developers involve on the growth of Ovi Store.

Let us know your thoughts on the Ovi Store if ever I missed something. The more comments the better so we can heard by Nokia.

Nokia N97 Gets Official Release to Certain Countries

The most hyped Nokia Flagship Phone the N97 has Finally been Released from the motherland..

That's right.. To only certain countries to be exact. Countries like Singapore, Finland, United Arab of Emirates, etc.. to start off..

Other countries such as US, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.. will follow suite. (According to Nokia)

While scanning the world wide web of mobile sites I have found numerous new owners of this device and their 1st hand experience..

Its great to Finally be back blogging... I'm really really sorry for the long layoff.

It has been a very hectic Spring I should say..

I became so busy with work and family that I couldn't find time to updated the blog anymore.. Tough times in this tough economy has made my schedule very tight.

N86 VS N82 CAMERA

Ok here is it the moment we been waiting for, a comparison shot between the n86 and the n82 at night to see which camera is the "KING", now to be fair to the n86 it is a proto model, plus it seems the picture wasn't taken with a steady hand, but it was a hot commodity at the S60 meet up in NYC NOKIA FLAGSHIP STORE so it was hard to get more pics with the device itself.
The top photo will be the n86 and the bottom will be the n82, tell us your thoughts and do you think the n86 will dethrone the n82 as Nokia's new camera King.

S60 Meetup and A Glance Look at The Nokia N97

First of all, Let me greet everyone a Happy New Year!! I hope you guys had a great 2008 and a prosperous New Year Celebration!!

Second of all I would like to apologize for my lack of post/contribution as I have become busy with work and family. But in time to time Mobile World Innovation is still my passion.

Last night was another Successful S60 Meet Up as it was a memorable one and a good start for the year 2009.

Like always let me give thanks to William Sisti for always organizing this meetup on a every month basis and making it possible!! Keep it up Will.. Were gonna let this group get bigger and bigger and soon were going to call it S60 Geeks of NY, lolz just kidding..

Anyways... Let me tell you guys why this meetup was very exciting and memorable..

Chanse Arrington from Nokia joined us on our meetup and brought a wonderful demo device for us to check out..

The Nokia N97 (First Side slide QWERTY Touch screen Nseries phone)

My thoughts on the device a little later.. Let me first serve you guys with the photos I took with a bonus video.

The Nokia N97 has the same OS version as the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music called Symbian S60 5th Edition.

As for this phone I can only talk about its Physical Aspect as its firmware version is still on Demo Mode/Proto.

*As for this phone it really feels good in hand, not that big and not that small. (Kind of look like an over sized N85)
*The phone is not that thick either.
*The slide is perfectly awesome when slid up. It really has a nice feel when you slide it up.
*This demo phone is also built like a tank no creaks.
*The screen also is pretty good but nowhere good as the N85. Also the screen is a fingerprint magnet.
*Also at 1st look I thought the call and end button were keypad with tactile feedback. I was wrong as they are both touch sensitive like the screen.
*The QWERTY keypad has a very good feel of tactile feedback as well, and a very good spacing.
*Missing some useful keys like the period (.) You have to go to characters to enter it. (hope they fix that.)

So far so good its a pretty good feel device excluding OS experience.. So I can't really say that its a good buy yet until the OS stability is tested. I hope Nokia won't let us down on that part.

PROCLIP CAR MOUNTING SOLUTION ( A MUST HAVE)

I just received my PROCLIP CAR MOUNT , and let me say its amazing. I mean it changes the way i use my device in my vehicle.

The proclip carmounting solution is awesome because it is customed made for your vehicle and your device, you get to choose a vehicle holder
and you also get to choose a device holder.

What i love about the proclip car mount is that the device fits extremely well in it, it tilts, swivels has the proper openings, even comes with a carcharger if you decided to pic that particular holder.

Here are a few choices you get to pick from.
The proclip car solution comes with detailed instructions and is very easy to do, and to me personally it is well worth it, its very solidly built, and feel very well constructed it is a little pricey, but it is well worth the money in my opinion.

I highly recommend it for any type of device that you may use in your car.
I want to Thank Johan from Proclip usa for allowing me to Trial the ProClip car solution.

E71 SOLID, SLEEK, SOPHISTICATED

I received a nokia e71 nam version from WOM WORLD for a trial, so here is my review.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY

One word SOLID, this device is built like a tank, yet Nokia designed it to be sleek and sophisticated. I find it nice in the hand has a nice soft to the touch keyboard and just an overall solid design, no complaints at all and did i mention extremely thin.

SCREEN

The screen on the nokia e71 isn't going to wow you, its 320x 240 typical nokia screen and it is kinda small, but it fits the package of the device. It is great in direct sunlight and its very easy to see everything, higher resolution and larger screen would have been nice, but then again we will have to compromise on the size, I think sometimes we want a 6" screen on a 3" device, never happy.
Overall i think the screen fits the device.

SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE

The e71 i received is very stable, and i must say fast, themes are kinda boring looking, but you can always install different themes to enhance the look.
The eseries has a few nice additons i wish the nseries had.
1- email notification on home screen
2- switch mode can go from business mode to media mode so to speak.
3- keys bring up contacts affiliated with the letter or #.
4- 1 touch buttons on device for contacts, calender messaging

over all some nice enhancements that the nseries can benefit from.

MUSIC, VIDEO, CAMERA

If music, video and camera are what you are looking for then the e71 is not the device for you, camera to me is very subpar, video playback and recording not as good as nseries, and music is decent but lack of 3.5 mm jack just kills it for me.

FINAL THOUGHTS AND CONCLUSION

I think the e71 is a great device, speed , build quality, size , feel, and qwerty, that being said its not the device for me, im an nseries guy. I want the camera, video, tv out, 3.5mm and so on and so forth.
For those that want a nice compact device, with great build quality, speedy ui and full qwerty, that can handle all there office matters on the go the e71 i recommend.

Nokia E63 Review (Proves To Be A Worthy Contender)

Initial Thoughts:

Looking back on my E71 review as I recall it the sexiest solid smartphone... I guess Nokia had read my review and made it more sexier by adding color. I had thought that using different materials such as plastic and making it a little thicker would make this phone really bad compared to its older brother the E71, well I was wrong. You really need to have the device on your hand to really appreciate it.

Screen:

The screen on the E63 looks a little bit smaller than the E71, but both devices are the same 320x240 pixel with 16 million colors.

Design and Changes:

It takes the same design from the E71, candy bar type phone with a QWERTY keypad. Now the differences between the two are

*The size of the phone which the E63 is 3mm thicker than the E71.

*Audio Jack implementation was also changed as the E63 finally gained a 3.5mm jack for regular audio headphones which was placed on the top of the phone. (1st Eseries phone to get 3.5mm Jack)

*The space bar on the E63 is a little smaller than the E71 as they placed two extra keys for more productivity.

*The volume key on the right side of the E71 was removed on the E63 which will make you navigate the volume from the Dpad.

*The power button on the top of the E71 was also removed on the E63 and was remapped to the End Call Button key.

*The microphone on the E71 which was visible on the lower front of the phone was also moved on the E63 now located at bottom of the phone.

*Finally as you may know the E71 is made out of high class material like metal back plate. On the E63 the outside appearance of the phone is made out of high grade plastic, so no creaks and a solid feel.

*The E63 adds a flashlight function by holding on the space bar it will allow the camera’s LED flash to be used as a flashlight.

User Interface:

The User Interface is the same as the E71 boring icons, and fast snappy UI.

Call Volume:

Same quality as the E71.

Call Quality:

Same quality as the E71.

Connectivity:

Bluetooth: Seems to be the same as the E71.

Infrared: Another Change: They have finally removed the Infrared... So No Infrared!

WLAN: Same experience as the E71.3G: As usual, wasn't able to test it as I have the EURO model. But I can tell you this for a fact the E71 having HSDPA 3.5mbps was lowered to UMTS on the E63 384kbps which I don't think it would make a difference as we don't get full 3.5mbps with AT&T 3G anyways.

USB: Seems to be pretty stable like the E71.

Messaging:

Email: Nokia Email Beta seems to be working pretty good on this phone. It’s like a match made in heaven.As for other services like Text Messaging, and Multimedia messaging it has same quality as the E71. No difference I've notice.

Sound Quality:

Same quality as the E71.

Music Quality:

Music quality seems to be better and louder on the E63 can be due to 3.5mm jack, or just some tweaking in the software. On the E71 I feel it was holding out on us, as we know it can perform the same but was still limited with the 2.5mm jack over all..

GPS Navigation:

Another Change: No GPS chip on the E63 but it is equipped with Nokia Maps that still can use Network Base GPS depending on your network provider. Not accurate but an approximate location.

Camera:

Another Change: The camera on the E63 was lowered to 2 Mega Pixel fixed focus, which might not be all bad considering the 3.2 on the e71 left a lot to be desired, but I will let you guys judge the quality.

Battery Life:

The E63 has the same battery as the E71, so you can rest assure that you will have good battery life. In my test the e63 had better battery life than the E71, both phones were Euro versions so no 3g on either, again maybe a little more software tweaking.

Conclusion:

If you think that a budget version of the E71 wouldn’t make such a good phone, I would have to say you’re wrong!! Even with the lack of features on the E63, I really didn't feel or see my production decreasing at all coming from the E71, In my opinion I think the E63 is more of an upgrade for me coming from the E71.

WHY?

*It the added Flashlight feature which was an upgrade for me, as I don't have to carry an extra flashlight around me at all times.

*The 3.5mm Jack was also an upgrade for me, as I don't have to carry, an adapter around, and I can use it for all standard 3.5 mm jacks, I can hook it to my car and play my music that way, or I and use it as my portable music player (very convenient) can hook it to my computer speakers or any other portable type speaker Jack (I would have wish for a TV-Out feature as a business phone you need to use this feature for Job Presentation).

*They also the added size/thickness and the plastic housing of the phone was actually good. It made the E63 more rugged and less fragile. In my opinion whenever I hold the E71 I always get the fear of dropping it, and the phone was very slippery at times. With the new thickness it definitely feels good in hand (Not too thick, and definitely not too thin, It’s somewhere in the middle.)

My verdict:

Who had thought that lowering the price point of the popular “Wired Magazine Best Smartphone” choice award winning Nokia E71 was awesome enough? Well Nokia just made it more awesome as the Nokia E63 is definitely a smart and good buy for its price point and extra rich features. (It speaks out to everyone in the market Business, Personal, Teen, you name it) Kudos to Nokia on this one!!

This is my first E series device, so ill give m first impressions then my full review.

New Nokia N95-1 firmware v31 released

The nokia n95-1 today released a new firmware for the legendary device (sorry n95-3 users)It has increased the start times, added share online 3.0, auto rotate, below are some of the new features.

New Features:

* Maps 2.0
* Full N-Gage (much improved over v20.x)
* Nokia Search 4.0 with Google plug-in
* Enablers for “Comes With Music” (DRM stuff?)
* Share Online 3.0 (includes Ovi, Flickr, Vox)
* Mosh & Ovi bookmarks added to browser
* Automatic screen rotation:
(Enable via Settings > General > Personalization > Display > Rotate Screen)
* New dark theme from N82/N96 (Nokia Nseries 4)

Changes:

* Increased startup speed (15-16 seconds, according to Engadget)
* Download! application updated to v 3.1.50
* Update for Flash Lite 3, YouTube video works!
* Menu screen changed (no longer has the reduced-size header.) :-P
* Current consumption improvements (for e.g. WLAN scanning)
* New baseline for VoIP (with significant error corrections)

I hope nokia will honor the U.S. market with the same firmware upgrades, i find it kinda of Funny that a company
that says it wants to make an impact here wont even upgrade the devices sold here, what are your thoughts.

A Surprise Package from WOM World Nokia

Two days ago I got a surprise email from the guys over at WOM World Nokia regarding a surprise package that is coming over to me..

I was so paranoid and antsy and kept thinking about what device it was..

Even the newly announced N97 was on my mind, lolz or the even the 5800 Xpress Music.

and finally it arrived this morning and I did not get a peek till tonight..

I wanted to post a video, but there was just too many noise and distortion around the background that lead me to another Photo Unboxing Slide Show..

I present you..

The Nokia 6210 Navigator with Nokia BH-602 Bluetooth Headset

All I can say is simply WoW!! As you have seen it, it even came in a fancy box..

After using bunch of Nseries and Eseries phone, I really didn't pay no mind on the number coded phones such as this one the 6210 Navigator. I can't believe I underestimated these device.

This device is truly awesome!! I say this as my 1st impression. I had thought the N85 and the N96 are the fastest S60 v3 FP2 running phones. I guess I was wrong, This is by far the fastest S60 v3 FP2 running phone I ever experience.

Built quality is also superb and it also has a rugged feel to it, I say its better than the N95 and I rate it 2nd to the E66 in terms of build quality.

Call quality is also superb, and the buttons are perfectly laid out and feels comfortable when press..

I also tried the BH-602 and let me tell you, this is why I love Nokia Bluetooth headsets. So easy to use and set up, and call clarity were surprisingly loud.

So far so good this device hasn't been a disappointment to me for couple of hours of use. I will use it as my daily device and will report to you the good and bad experience I will encounter.

I also took some comparison shots E63, N96, N82 VS the 6210 Navigator.

I think its kinda funny right on the heels of releasing the n96, Nokia announces the very model that should have been the n96,the N97.
