At MobileFrame we have thought for a long time that our mobile solutions could track anything. We have provided tracking applications for everything from parts and labor to maintenance records and hazardous waste containers.

We figure that we have tracked just about everything – from the cradle to the grave. And now two customers are putting that to the test!

MobileFrame was recently deployed as the application for Paternity Declaration at Contra Costa County, California. This application captures vital information and parent signatures at the time of birth. With over 2500 clerks at over 700 birthing centers across California, MobileFrame’s integration into the county’s Vital Records is saving time, sometimes months, and increasing accuracy.

MobileFrame is also excited to announce the recent customer win of Service Corporation International. SC I is a leader in the funeral services industry and the application allows for mobile tracking of remains and personal affects, for the deceased. With nearly 200 Personal Care Centers MobileFrame is increasing efficiency across the company.

We are excited to work with these new customers in providing reliable solutions to their mobile needs. MobileFrame can quite literally handle any and all of your tracking needs, from the beginning to end.
While getting ready for the holidays I was at the mall, and it was packed! People were hustling and bustling about, looking for the perfect gift for loved ones. I mean it was NUTS! It made me think, why do we put ourselves through all this? Couldn’t we just as easily get a gift card, or whatever is in the sale ads for the people close in our lives? Wouldn’t they be happy just knowing we thought of them? No. There is something to be said for the perfect gift, the one thing that – when you see it – you know it was made for them.

Why settle for less when it comes to your organization’s mobile application needs? Off the shelf systems are designed to meet industry wide needs, but not necessarily the requirements of your organization. Your organization is unique and chances are your software needs are as well. Settling for an off the shelf system might solve some of your problems, but it will surely leave holes – probably in just the places that differentiate your organization.

MobileFrame is a tool that is used to create the perfect mobile and web based applications. MobileFrame helps to solve all of your mobile software needs, not just some of them. Whether it is a modification of an existing pre-built solution or a complete customization, our 100% code free platform makes it easy for you to solve the exact problems that typical off the shelf systems cannot. This means that rather than a system that will simply allow you to get by; you can have the system that works for you. Allow electronic data collection and managed workflow to be seamlessly integrated from the field to backend systems, making sure your mobile workforce has access to the data they need and the backend system is fully up to date.

From mobile application development to device management, MobileFrame gives your business the benefit of the perfect mobile and web based application – one that when you see it you know it was made for you.

Accidents happen. Mobile devices get lost, stolen and broken; it’s just a fact of life. With as much as we rely on these devices, these accidents can grind production to a halt. Not only is there a security risk, but now there is also the matter of installing the software on a new device and all the configuration needed to set it up.

MobileFrame‘s built-in Mobile Device Management (MDM) is designed to help in these instances. Since the MobileFrame application is not hard-coded on the device you can quickly and easily change from one device to another. Just install the client on a new device and you are back up and running, with barely skipping a beat. And as far as security, you can force logoff, requiring password authentication to log back in.

But there is more. The MDM allows remote updates so there is no need to recall devices from the field to implement changes, even if those updates are other than MobileFrame applications. It allows remote device control to assist with troubleshooting and training issues. Device power, location, memory utilization, messaging, alerts, synchronization status and all other critical device status information can be remotely monitored and controlled for all devices on the system.

The next time you have an unfortunate incident happen to you don’t let it hinder your production. If you would like to take a look at MobileFrame’s complete Enterprise Mobility Platform please do not hesitate to contact us today.

Equipment maintenance systems have been an integral part of production environments for decades. There is no denying the importance and benefits of well-maintained equipment. Prolonged asset life and reductions in both downtime and operating costs have turned maintenance from being viewed as a cost of doing business to vital part of being profitable.

Traditional barriers to effectively managing the maintenance process have been in organization and documentation of the system used. Tracking each piece of equipment by last service date, frequency of service, scheduling of routine maintenance – all on paper - it becomes a full time job to maintain the maintenance system. Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software was developed to organize this information, and quickly became not only a way of managing upkeep; it has become a tool for improving maintenance performance.

Managers utilize CMMS to track asset inventory, increase technician productivity, increase overall equipment effectiveness and realize longer equipment life. It allows them to make informed decisions about planned versus unplanned work and the list goes on and on. But the analysis used to make these decisions and increase performance is only as good as the data in the system. Paper work order systems still rely heavily on people to fill out all information on the order, return it and enter it into the CMMS in a timely manner. If any of this information is missing, erroneous or late then expensive decisions will be made without all the data.

Integrating the information of your CMMS into a mobile application will alleviate this. Technicians can scan equipment to request previous service records, report problems, locate parts, and close work orders – all from a mobile device such as a handheld or tablet. This reduces response to failure times and increases the accuracy of recorded data, making your CMMS even better.

Help put the power of your CMMS into the hands of your technicians – click to request a demonstration.

Barcodes emerged in the 1960’s, primarily in industrial settings, and by the 1970’s they had been standardized and started showing up in more and more commercial applications. Today barcodes are everywhere. They enable quick and precise identification in nearly all types of business. The beauty of the barcode lies in its simplicity, its strength lies in its flexibility.

There are two main reasons why barcoding for inventory applications is beneficial

Productivity

Accuracy

With today’s smaller profit margins and competitive markets, inventory control is not an option. Simply put a warehouse must receive inventory and ship items efficiently. If there is a lapse in any of these steps problems are often compounded before they are corrected. Shipping costs, labor spent correcting the problem, additional shipping, customer dissatisfaction are all additional costs that can be avoided through proper inventory management using barcodes. Paper tracking is time consuming, manually entering inventory numbers on paper – often times on many pieces of paper. Scanning a barcode is quick, and can be relayed from one form to another electronically; reducing the administrative time it takes to track the item which will probably be keyed into a database system anyway. Scanning into inventory and moving it through the process of inventory to shipping to invoicing as well as ordering replacement inventory can be automated, saving time and reducing errors. This also allows you to “see” your inventory and know exactly what is where. Barcodes are accurate, much more so than even the most conscientious worker and accuracy is enhanced by positive product identification. Items cannot be misidentified by workers or customers, reducing the risk of inventory shrink and tag swapping. Whenever there is a need to accurately identify or track something, bar-coding should be used.

With today’s low cost units to both print and read barcode labels there is seemingly no reason for businesses to not use the technology. Time savings and increased accuracy, tracking and data sharing capabilities, visible inventory and reduced shrinkage provide a strong case that it can cost businesses for not using it.

If you are interested in seeing how other companies just like yours have been able to implement barcoding solutions utilizing MobileFrame please do not hesitate to contact us today!

Healthcare is an industry where time can mean more than just money – it can mean the difference between life and death. Given the critical and fast paced nature of hospitals, equipment can easily be misplaced. This means staff must spend valuable time looking for beds, wheelchairs, or defibrillators. Finding this equipment quickly not only saves the time spent looking for it, but it reduces staff frustration and increases patient satisfaction.

RFID (active) and barcode (passive) systems allow different levels of tracking and reporting capabilities. Equipment can be tracked by attaching a small RFID tag to the equipment and installing master readers throughout a facility. As the equipment enters or leaves a room it’s automatically scanned by the fixed reader, giving you instant and real-time data about the location of your assets.

Medical equipment can be highly specialized and carry a high price tag. Because of its specific functionality departments often horde equipment, keeping the asset hidden away so it’s available when needed. The result is over stocking of some equipment, which of course inflates costs. Accurate tracking allows quick retrieval and eliminates the need to over stock.

As every maintenance department knows, keeping the equipment in perfect working order is always a challenge. Providing real-time data about the use of each item would allow your technicians to proactively perform routine calibrations and complete preventative maintenance on each asset. This benefit alone can mean a substantial cost saving to your bottom line.

Collecting and recording data digitally reduces data entry errors and allows management to make real-time decisions about running the business. The data reports can be based on an unlimited number of criteria, including by department and user. The data can even be viewed by management via an internet connected pc or tablet such as an iPad.

Digital tracking applications have the potential to save hospitals in a variety of ways. Increased efficiency, accurate reporting on equipment usage and cost savings are but a few of the benefits these applications can bring. Give your organization the advantage by investigating how medical equipment tracking applications can benefit you. If you are interested in seeing how other organizations have been able to implement equipment tracking applications successfully using MobileFrame, please do not hesitate to contact us today.

Running a mobile field service business can be incredibly difficult, especially when you consider the need to exchange information with multiple distributed workers in real-time.

Here at MobileFrame we have seen organizations that have tried everything to bridge this communication gap including:

Equipping mobile workers with 2-way radios

Utilizing Push-to-Talk based cell phones

Sending text messages

Calling workers directly

What we have found is that while these technologies are useful, they just are not optimized to help run a mobile operation.

Here is where they fall short:

Push to talk cell phones and radios provide instant feedback but what happens when a mobile worker either doesn’t have the device near them, can’t hear the message, or they are out of coverage?

Cell phones have obvious benefits but interrupting a mobile worker in the middle of their task can lead to a decrease in productivity. And, what about missed calls and voicemails?

SMS based systems are great but how many times have you tried sending someone a message only to hear that they didn’t receive it? Also, what about an audit trail of all sent and received messages?

We’ve solved this problem by vastly improving the existing concept of instant messaging and optimizing it to work out in the field.

MobileFrame’s Sarbanes-Oxley Compliant Instant Messaging system allows for both office and mobile workers to collaborate in real-time.

Scheid Vineyards has chosen MobileFrame’s Inventory Control Application to track their inventory and crops. Prior to MobileFrame they were doing most of their data entry and inventory tracking manually, and found this system to be timely and inefficient. As Scheid Vineyards continues to grow, they decided that they were in need of more advanced software technology to help streamline their business operations. After researching several software packages, it was obvious that MobileFrame was a perfect fit. With MobileFrame, Scheid Vineyards has been able to automate harvest tracking and fertilization information down to the individual row level, which has achieved significant efficiency gains for the company. Now that Scheid Vineyards has automated the vineyard side of their business, they will be able to streamline their wineries data and inventory on the same platform, thus driving a much higher ROI.

Although application development tools are a commonplace, those tools require costly, time-consuming development to create business applications. Moreover, such business solutions tend to be inflexible, requiring expensive custom programming whenever business processes change. As Scheid Vineyards business processes evolve, MobileFrame’s software has the ability to provide them with unparalleled flexibility to create new mobile applications of any degree of complexity, incorporating any mix of business processes, and to make changes to those applications on-the-fly. With its flexibility and ease of use, MobileFrame’s enterprise mobility software will allow Scheid Vineyards to quickly deploy their Inventory Control Applications and make changes as needed, without time-consuming and expensive development efforts.

“For two years we have been asking for a change in one of our [previous] packaged applications, and it never makes it into the product. In MobileFrame I can have that done in a couple of hours. I am not a computer programmer and basically I have been able to run with this thing. In 5 weeks I went from not knowing anything about MobileFrame to having a fully deployed harvest inventory system”.

- Tyler Scheid, Viticulture Technology Coordinator.

“We love it when customers exploit our state-of-the-art technology in their business. Going mobile so quickly is a rarity in the mobile industry, but typical in our deployments — a fact that doesn’t go unrecognized across our network of over 350 global resellers. With over 1,400 successful MobileFrame customer deployments, MobileFrame has become the Gold Standard.”

- Lonny Oswalt, MobileFrame CEO
