Word out on the net is another Iphone is in the works. Engadget reported a tweet from Eldar Murtazin which stated:

"Foxconn received order for next generation iphone"

For those who don't know, Eldar Murtazin is a mobile analyst as well as Editor 'N' Chief of Mobile Review. He's the man when it comes to mobile devices, he did a great job predicting the last two iphone's.

Now what does it mean to have another iphone in the works, well hopefully it will be a gsm/cdma phone. Hopefully they won't give us the 3Gs with software updates. Apples fantastic about stunning the world with their devices, let's hope they can do it again. Tell me what you think in the comments.

AT&T To Curb Smartphone Data Use

AT&T investors talked about AT&T's compromised network. According to Ralph de la Vega (chief executive of AT&T Mobility) Said the network in San Fransisco and New York are: "performing at levels below our standards." Nothing concrete was said about how or when Smartphone data will be curbed. This has been a growing problem for AT&T for quite some time now, and they are working on upgrading the network, but upgrading the network will be a slow process.

Now there is absolutely no point to smartphones with curbed data. If they limit how much data can be used on smartphones then phones like the Iphone would have most of it's services shutdown in a short period of time in leau of a new month to come.

According to Luke Wilson in the AT&T commercial their network is solid and can do so much, yet they are planning on limiting smartphone data usage, Interesting! I really want to know what you all think, drop a line in the comments or message me on twitter.

I have just installed the update to my phone so I haven't had much time to play with it but I have discovered a vast improvement in phone operation moving from screen to screen and loading applications are much faster I haven't tested any of the other improvements but I will let you know how things are going in a couple of days.

For those ready to manually install keep reading:

The folks at AndroidArena.com have given the steps on how to update your Motorola Droid to the new Android 2.0.1 software.

1) Download the file update.zip and place it in the root directory on the DROID’s microSD memory card. Do NOT place it in any sub-directory or rename the file to something else.
2) Power the phone off.
3) Slide open the phone so you can see the keyboard.
4) Press-and-hold the letter X on the keyboard and press the Power button until the device powers on.
5) Continue to hold the X button until the screen shows a triangle and exclamation mark.
6) Release the X button and then press the Volume UP *and* Camera buttons at the same time. Be sure to keep the phone open.
7) On the screen you will see several choices, use the d-pad on the keyboard to move down the list and select the “update.zip” file.
8 ) The update will begin and take a few minutes.
9) Once it is done, select the 1st option on the screen to Reboot the phone – NOT Factory Restore.
10) The phone will turn off and then restart, and the “DROID EYE” will show for about 90 seconds.
11) Once the Home Screen loads, everything will be intact, including programs and settings.

During my research of Google Goggles I came across something very interesting which of course I probably would of known about if I would have read my rss feeds. So I went to Google to search for the new Goggles Android app and much to my surprise was I was getting real time information from everywhere. Twitter, forums, Facebook, you name it - it was showing up. I was really impressed with the information I was getting from a simple search. I found it extremely helpful and was also able to get an idea of what the app was like, how well it worked, and whether or not I should download it.

So I researched and discovered Google's Real Time Search. By the time this posts probably all of you reading this would already know about it, but in case you didn't or you've been using BING! for a couple of weeks now is the time to switch and head over to Google.

By now you should have Google's Goggles on your Android phone and have played with it a little bit. Well now i am going to tell you about another interesting piece of news I found out about Google, called Google's Favorite Places.

Apparently extending an invitation out to businesses they can display a simple add on their window which has a QR barcode on it. When the QR barcode is scanned by a mobile device with a QR reader people can learn about the place, read reviews, and see if it's a place they want to be at. This is an Awesome Idea and glad to see it happening. One thing comes to mind though are we really getting to a point where smartphones are going to be a necessity in the future? I would love to hear what you think in the comments.

Google has done it again and has impressed everyone with a new way of searching. The app is called Google Goggles for Android smartphones. I must say it is a really awesome program. I downloaded it on my Droid this morning and played with it all day. Simply amazing with just a photo you can actually search for relevant content related to your picture. As of right now it doesn't work with most objects but I can guarantee it will in the near future.

It's an amazing app and I really suggest you try it out. I will be breaking the latest Google news and adventure into a three part series, so keep on the look out for part 2. Take a look at what it can do!
It's amazing, try it out.

Google launches Google Public DNS: "

Google’s got your email, calendar, contacts, pictures, phone calls, text messages… heck, why not hand over your DNS lookups too. Yesterday, Google announced their newest service; say hello to Google Public DNS. Google explains that, “the average Internet user ends up performing hundreds of DNS lookups each day, and some complex pages require multiple DNS lookups before they start loading” and boasts that their DNS service will, “make users’ web-surfing experiences faster, safer and more reliable.” Sounds good, although we do wonder what Google plans on logging in the background. With this latest move Google has positioned itself to compete with other DNS providers, like BGR favorite OpenDNS, although, unlike OpenDNS a revenue model does not appear to exist for GPDNS. Google says that the end-goal is to share what they have found with other DNS providers to make the internet a faster place for all those who abuse misuse browse it.
Today Verizon Wireless officially brought the Samsung Omnia II to market today. According to Verizonwireless.com the phone will be $199.99 after rebates and when you purchase your Omnia II with a 2yr activation you will get another phone for free. Not such a bad deal there.

Here's what i say, honestly who cares show thbe consumer you really want them by dropping prices, (there's an idea). It just doesn't make any sense to waste money over something so trivial. I'm surte we would've eventually paid for it anyway.

The results were published from a Consumer Reports Survey about how satisfied consumers are with their wireless carrier. Out of more than 50,000 respondents only 54 percent were completely satisfied or very satisfied. The report also showed two-thirds had a major complaint with their carrier.

When it comes to wireless service Verizon Wireless was over the top in all categories from the 26 cities. Their only downfall being price, but what can you expect when they have the largest most reliable network. However T-Mobile rocked it up there with Verizon in the survey, the scored lower marks in messaging, email, voice, and web.

The last two major kids on the block in last place are Sprint and AT&T, most of which I think are self explanatory. They scored low in every attribute except for texting and web access.

When it comes right down to it most are swayed from one carrier to another by simply the phones being carried. Which doesn't come as a surprise to me what-so-ever.

Wow, the results are amazing. It's hard to believe that many people who own cell phones are dissatisfied with their service. It blows my mind, how they are dissatisfied yet keep the service. To me I find it unbelievable, but I have been shocked by less.

I find what people think very interesting due to that fact above. Of course I always love to hear from you all so drop me a line in the comments about what you think about your carrier?

Voicemail to Text on AT&T

AT&T has released a new service for subscribers called voice mail to text. For $9.99/month you can have your voice mails transcribed and sent to you either by text message, email, or both.

You will even then be able to reply by calling the person back, sending a text message, or emailing them. I can definitely see the advantages to such a service especially if there is a bad connection, static, or whatever the case may be. Having what the person has said via text would be great.

An update for the Motorola CLIQ was released today as an OTA (Over The Air) update. Apparently the much needed update fixes many issues which need to be resolved on the CLIQ.

The Software update 1.1.31 will improve upon:

Sprint once again has turned the lights on for their Fast mobile broadband, this time in the Seattle area. For those in the Seattle area who are on Sprint and are lucky enough to have the devices to use the new network infrastructure.

Sprint Boasts 10x Faster speeds on their mobile broadband than current 3G providers.

( *UPDATE* Sprint has also launched 4G in Honolulu and Maui )
Bam!

Recent reports have surfaced which state that the Motorola Droid from Verizon Wireless has Multi-touch. Well I'm here to tell you it is TRUE! Two apps I am aware of the new Dolphin Web browser and PicSay picture application have added multi-touch support.

All I have to say is Fantastic! It looks like the Droid is starting to compete with the IPhone. Well I hope support keeps coming for the new kid on the block (Droid) because at the rate it's going it is sure it just might pass up the Iphone. Food for thought.

As far as the Dolphin web browsing app, I must say I use it on a regular basis now and not just because of the Multi-touch support. It has a lot of features the standard browser just doesn't have. An especially favorite setting of mine is being able to switch the browser from a desktop, Android, or IPhone mode. Spectacular. Really the best part is it's a FREE app.

Is Apple testing yet another version of an Iphone? According to sources on the internet they seem to be. Of course a major question would be, WHY?

Rumors are floating around the net about a new Iphone being tested in San Fransisco. The application used was IBart a San Fransisco Train system app when PANDAV developer was informed of a different IPhone designation listed in their apps analytics powered by PinchMedia.

The IPhone itself is the most popular mobile device since laptops were introduced. Of course other manufacturers have produced their own versions of touch screen phones, not coming close to what the IPhone is. Of course as of late new devices just as Motorola Droid (Verizon), HTC Droid Eris (Verizon), MyTouch 3G (T-Mobile), HTC Hero (Sprint), and Android (Google's Mobile OS) their new mobile platform. Could it be that Apple feels a little threatened that their IPhone might get taken out if they don't pursue a newer and better model? That is an interesting question a question only time will tell.

LG Shine II has been released and is up for sale on AT&T's website. This stylish new phone, in the same form factor as it's predecessor the LG Shine Cu720, has several new enhancements which makes this phone even more enticing than it's older brother. With a stunning brushed silver look, slightly better battery life, and of course a feature I really like a d-pad where the analog stick used to be.

Looking at the photos this phone look much improved and will be a big success for AT&T especially since it also GPS capable.

This will be a really nice phone this holiday season as well, AT&T's website lists the contract price of the phone at $119.99 after rebates. But who knows what the retail stores will sell it at. Let me know what you think in the comments.
