How will the mobile cloud evolve and what pressures will future applications put on existing Business Support Systems? One thing we can be sure of is that most of today's traditional billing products will have to change to adapt to business realities.

The real challenges in cloud billing are:Ownership: Who owns the business model - the operator? The application vendor? Both? Disparate objectives: There are multiple relationships to manage, spanning operators, application vendors, end users, resellers, advertisers; and a combination. Unknown unknowns: As new business models emerge rapidly, the future will present those we haven’t even conceptualised yet. Accountability: A growing need for the tighter management of service entitlement.

The mobile internet applications space is booming. Apple's AppStore is evidence that mobile apps are hot. And, with the increasing popularity of smartphones, mobile internet apps will continue to be a hot topic.

A recent study from ABI Research shows that Mobile Cloud Computing will change the face of the mobile application world by 2014. * The Hopper Test Tool: a software test tool that simulates random user input on mobile devices that stresses the entre device to ensure that the application can execute in a stable fashion across an extended period of time. All applications must complete 2 hours of Hopper test without exhibiting unpredictable behaviour, hanging or crashing.

* Application Verifier that detects memory leaks, handle leaks, leaks in GDI objects as well as detecting heap corruption.

Young Joon Baik's Bio

YJ Baik is currently the Senior Director of the Asia region at Skyhook Wireless, and manages business development across Asia. Prior to joining Skyhook Wireless, Mr. Baik was VP at Giuliani Security & Safety Asia where he lead cooperate security and anti-terrorism. Prior to that, Mr. Baik served as Director of Product Management at Business Objects. Before Business Objects, YJ was Principal Engineer at i18N OpenMarket Inc. for four years. Mr. Baik also held the position of Product Manager for Microsoft Japan KK, where he defined the specification of the first version of Japanese Word. Innovation is crucial for the future success of the mobile industry in Singapore. MobileMonday Singapore will always strive to find, nurture and support the mobile innovations.

MobileMonday Singapore is calling for all nominations for the upcoming MobileMonday Singapore 2009 Peer Awards Competition to be held on Monday, 30 March 2009. Eligible Singapore-based mobile companies will take the stage to make a 5-minute pitch to a panel of expert judges.

Eligible companies are encouraged to submit your entries with your company name, brief summary of your product and a relevant web link to mobilemondaysingapore@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is Friday, 20 March 2009.

This award aims to reward and recognise the exciting innovations emanating from the local mobile industry. It also aims to build and showcase the innovations from various individual developers that bring status-quo-challenging new ideas that reinvents the mobile industry, while providing visibility on the global stage to investors, customers, the media and business partners.

Event Concept:

Mobile Marketing Opportunities Identified With 2D Barcodes

The MobileMonday Singapore (sponsored by the Visual Codes Consortium, Singapore) featured global 2D Barcode experts from Singapore, US and Japan: Mr Geoff Tan, General Manager for Singapore Press Holdings, Mr M. Didier Frantz, Managing Director, Scanbuy US and Mr Lawrence Cosh-Ishii, founding partner of Wireless Watch Japan.

Didier Frantz shared on the latest 2D barcode trends and case studies from the US. Lars provided an excellent and interesting update of Japan's mobile industry, 2D barcode case studies and its evolution onto keyword mobile search based on Search Engine Optimisation methods.

It is also interesting to note that both the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and GS1 have now approved QR Codes and Datamatrix as the two defacto 2D barcode standards.

CommunicAsia 20008 Mobile Start-Ups Pavilion

The region's premier Information and Communications Technology event returns to Singapore from 17 - 20 June 2008. In its 19th edition, CommunicAsia have been transforming the technology and business landscapes since 1979.

The Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), with support from Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, is organising the Infocomm Singapore Pavilion at this year's EnterpriseIT event. The Pavilion will be located in Hall 3 of Singapore Expo, showcasing more than 30 solutions that are developed by Singapore's established IT companies and start-ups.

Besides the solutions showcase, there will be networking sessions with various partners. The networking sessions serve as a platform for you to know more about solutions provided by Singapore's IT companies and for sourcing business partners.
