Artificial Intelligence is moving from possibility to practice, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s recent program, “AI Governance Gets Real: From Buzzwords to Business,” made that shift unmistakably clear. With Congressman Don Beyer and Trustible’s Gerald Kierce opening the discussion, followed by industry leaders from Leidos, Marashlian & Donahue, and Mobomo, the morning centered on a single question: How do we build and deploy AI that people can trust? 

The answer, as the panel made clear, isn’t simple, but it’s becoming increasingly urgent. 

AI Trust: More Urgency, Less Alignment

Congressman Beyer described himself as a “huge AI optimist,” especially in areas like healthcare, yet acknowledged that public trust remains fragile. The skepticism today centers on three consistent fears:  

• Loss of jobs
• Rapid environmental impact of expanding data centers, two thirds of which are located in Virginia
• The specter of super-intelligent systems that trigger pop-culture anxieties about runaway machines

The result is a landscape where organizations want to adopt AI but consumers don’t feel protected, and frameworks are still catching up. Still, Beyer’s optimism remained clear, particularly in healthcare. He pointed to AI’s extraordinary potential to accelerate medical research, uncover new biological insights, and drive down costs across largescale systems like dialysis and medication management. As Beyer noted, “there has been a massive business imperative for cybersecurity…but no parallel ramp up for AI trust.” Early federal efforts, from NIST’s emerging frameworks to evolving executive orders, signal progress, but not consensus. 

With no short-term federal solution on the horizon, states have begun to take the lead. California already sees these as legal issues, while others lag behind. Meanwhile, companies aren’t stepping back from AI; they’re simply pushing forward without consistent guardrails. 

Transparency is Becoming Non-Negotiable 

Beyer pointed to the AI Transparency Act as one of the emerging paths forward. The central requirement: organizations must disclose how their models are trained, what data feeds them, and how outputs are monitored for safety. 

That kind of transparency is the precursor to what Beyer described as an AI safety label; a concept still in development but increasingly expected. Today, information flows more readily to national security agencies than to Congress. In the future, transparency will need to be democratized, not centralized. 

The Fastest Movers Will Shape the Standards 

Recent realignments in federal procurement signal a shift toward rapid development and iterative delivery, especially in defense and national security programs. Agencies are being pushed to modernize faster, and that acceleration places pressure on governance processes. 

Beyer expects NIST’s work to evolve into a trust certification parallel to FedRAMP, providing organizations with a recognizable unified approach to responsible AI. 

The Northern Virginia region, he emphasized, is uniquely positioned to lead. With Amazon’s relocation and a dense concentration of technical talent, NOVA could become a national center of gravity for AI trust. 

Panel Perspectives: The Path from Governance to Practicality  

Following the fireside discussion, the panel shifted to the realities of building responsible AI inside large organizations. 

Leidos: Governance at Scale 

Geoff Schaefer outlined Leidos’ multi-year journey to create an AI governance framework built on four pillars: 

With more than 600 expected AI use cases next year, a scalable model isn’t optional – it’s an operational necessity. 

Marashlian & Donahue: Start Small, Build the Muscles 

Attorney Brian Alexander described how organizations begin their governance journey: establishing context, building diverse governance teams, creating structured intake processes, and reducing silos between legal, compliance, privacy, and technical groups. Many organizations have governance “pieces,” he noted, but lack integration, especially as AI use cases multiply. 

Mobomo: Agentic AI and the Future of Product Development 

Mobomo CEO Brian Lacey brought a product-builder’s perspective, emphasizing that clients increasingly ask for one thing: Use AI to build products faster, more efficiently, and more intelligently.

Agentic AI: A Workforce Multiplier Comes into Focus 

One of the most forward-leaning themes of the morning centered on agentic AI: systems that can take action autonomously on behalf of a user. 

Schaefer described agents as the “form factor that will finally push AI forward.” Unlike traditional AI tools that require prompting, agents will operate continuously, running in the background, completing tasks, and augmenting human capability at scale.  

For organizations the size of Leidos, this represents a profound shift, a potential “force multiplier” that could effectively double operational capacity. 

But with that opportunity comes risk. Liability for agentic AI systems, panelists agreed, will largely fall on the organizations that deploy them. As agents gain autonomy, legal and compliance teams must evolve just as quickly as developers. Questions about authorization, decision making boundaries, and contractual responsibility will shape the next generation of AI governance. 

Innovation and Governance Aren’t Opposites, They’re Interdependent  

Throughout the discussion, one consistent thread connected every stakeholder, from policymakers to engineers: speed must be matched with structure. 

Risk must be understood, measured, and contextualized rather than assumed. Standards like ISO 27001 and the emerging ISO 42001 provide familiar, auditable scaffolding for organizations who need to incorporate AI into their security posture. And in product development, responsible AI begins at the design phase: documenting models, assessing data flows, identifying risks, and being transparent about limitations. 

Innovation without governance is reckless. Governance without innovation is stagnant. The leaders who thrive will be those who strike the balance.

If there was a defining energy in the room, it was momentum. AI is accelerating, policy is evolving, and organizations across industry and government are searching for a path that enables transformational capability without compromising trust.

With a total ceiling of $14 billion over ten years (August 2025 – August 2035), IHT2 will provide comprehensive, veteran-centric, healthcare-specific program support across the VHA. The contract expands upon the scope of the original IHT vehicle, increasing from 36 to 61 capability areas, including new areas in health informatics.

Federal agencies are no strangers to cyber threats, but the complexity and frequency of bot attacks have escalated dramatically. A recent incident encountered by one of our customers highlights how even with industry-leading cloud infrastructure and content delivery networks, malicious actors are finding new ways to break through. By sharing this story and strategies that worked, we hope to arm federal IT and security professionals with actionable insights to stay ahead of evolving threats. 

The Evolving Threat Landscape 

Cyber adversaries today are no longer hobbyists; they’re often well-funded, well-organized, and in some cases, state-sponsored. As described by TechRadar, one such campaign known as RoundPress was attributed to Russian state-backed actors. These attackers exploited vulnerabilities in webmail platforms to infiltrate governments and military agencies across the globe. 

Meanwhile the use of generative AI has opened a new front in cyber deception. According to a report by Reuters, the FBI recently warned that malicious actors are using AI-generated audio and video to impersonate senior US officials, an alarming development aimed at phishing sensitive information from government personnel. 

Case Study: A Federal Agency’s Strategic Response 

One of the agencies we support recently faced a surge in traffic to their public-facing site. At first glance, the traffic appeared random, but a closer look revealed something more nefarious.  

Traffic logs showed a flood of requests from a narrow set of IP addresses, linked to U.S.-based cloud infrastructure.  The attackers had deployed a sophisticated disguise: each request masqueraded as a different device by generating thousands of randomized user-agent strings, many completely fabricated combinations of device types and browser versions that don’t exist in the real world. This digital camouflage was specifically engineered to slip past traditional security filters that rely on identifying known bot signatures. It’s a textbook advanced bot attack: rapid, obfuscated, and evasive. 

Recognizing that IP-based blocking would be ineffective  against this type of attack where IP addresses can be rapidly rotated, the team took a different approach. Through careful analysis, they identified the underlying patterns within the seemingly random user-agent strings discovering that despite thousands of variations, the attackers were actually using a limited set of device types and browser versions mixed together. Armed with this insight, they customized the Akamai Site Shield configuration to detect these specific patterns in the malformed user-agent strings, successfully filtering out malicious traffic while maintaining access for legitimate users. 

The Enduring Threat of DDoS: Old Tactics, New Tricks 

While bot attacks are becoming more nuanced and evasive, they are also being deployed in more traditional ways such as Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. In these scenarios, large networks of compromised devices, known as botnets, are coordinated to flood systems with traffic in an attempt to exhaust bandwidth, crash applications, or take services offline. What makes today’s DDoS attacks harder to detect is the sophistication of the bots themselves. Rather than sending repetitive or obvious traffic, these bots mimic legitimate users by rotating IP addresses, randomizing payloads, and encrypting traffic to avoid detection. In some cases, attackers even use reputable cloud infrastructure to deliver attacks, making it difficult to distinguish malicious activity from genuine usage. DDoS is no longer just a blunt instrument; it has evolved into a calculated tactic that can serve as a smokescreen for more targeted intrusions elsewhere in the environment. Against this backdrop of escalating threats, federal agencies need to modernize their defensive posture with a multi-layered approach. 

Strategies Federal Agencies Can Use 

1. Embrace Zero Trust Architecture:  
   
   Traditional perimeter-based security models are no longer sufficient in today’s threat environment. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) has emerged as a powerful framework that assumes no actor (internal or external) should be inherently trusted. For federal agencies, this means verifying every connection and continuously validating user identities, device integrity, and access permissions before granting access to resources. 
   
   Implementing Zero Trust at scale requires a shift in mindset and tooling. Agencies should prioritize identity and access management (IAM), implement network micro-segmentation, and leverage endpoint detection and response (EDR) technologies. Adopting this approach reduces lateral movement within networks and helps contain breaches before they escalate, aligning with federal cybersecurity mandates like Executive Order 14028. 

2. Implement Bot Management Tools:  
   
   Not all bots are malicious. Some, like search engine crawlers or page-loading bots used by large language models (LLMs), serve useful purposes. These types of automated traffic, while often detected as bots, are legitimate and should be allowed through.  
   
   But bad bots can wreak havoc: scraping sensitive content, executing credential-stuffing attacks, or overloading systems with fake traffic. These bots have become increasingly sophisticated, often mimicking legitimate users by rotating IP addresses, randomizing user-agent strings, or operating through residential proxies to evade detection. 
   
   Bot management tools use behavior analysis, machine learning, and fingerprinting techniques to detect and mitigate unwanted traffic in real time. Federal agencies should evaluate solutions that can distinguish between helpful and harmful bots, adapt to evolving evasion tactics, and preserve a seamless experience for legitimate users. The goal isn’t to block everything; it’s to know what’s coming through the door. 

3. Monitor Continuously and Share Threat Intelligence: 
   
   Cybersecurity isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it operation. Agencies must monitor their networks, applications, and endpoints continuously to detect anomalies and respond swiftly. Tools like Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) systems allow real-time visibility and correlation across complex environments. 
   
   Equally important is collaboration. As legacy programs like CISA’s EINSTEIN are phased out, agencies are turning to more modern, dynamic approaches such as the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program. CDM provides tools for real-time asset visibility, vulnerability management, and threat response, offering agencies a more flexible and proactive defense model. 
   
   Agencies can also strengthen their resilience by engaging with public-private partnerships like the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT-SCC), which fosters information sharing and cybersecurity best practices. Looking ahead, CISA’s development of the Joint Collaborative Environment (JCE) aims to further enhance collective defense through shared situational awareness and threat intelligence. As attacks grow more sophisticated, proactive monitoring and coordinated defense remain essential pillars of national cyber resilience. 

4. Fortify your APIs:  
   
   API’s are the connective tissue of modern government digital services, and that makes them a high-value target for adversaries. Attackers increasingly exploit vulnerable or forgotten APIs to bypass front-end protections, exfiltrate data, or inject malicious commands. The risk is especially high with “rogue APIs” (interfaces that are unmonitored, deprecated, or created outside of centralized governance processes). 
   
   Recent insights from the DoD Modernization Exchange underscored the need for full API visibility and governance across the enterprise. Whether using commercial API gateways or internal tooling, agencies must inventory all APIs, enforce consistent security policies, and monitor behavior for unusual access patterns. Rate limiting, token validation, and real-time analytics can help prevent abuse. API governance should be treated with the same urgency as endpoint and network security.  

Conclusion 

Sophisticated bot attacks aren’t going away; but with smarter tools, collaborative threat sharing, and adaptive defense strategies, federal agencies can outpace even the most advanced adversaries. The key is to move beyond static defenses and adopt agile, behavior-based approaches that evolve with the threat landscape.  

When the bots come knocking, you don’t need to panic. You just need to be prepared.

A growing trend called a ”task scam” involves impersonators who claim to offer work-from-home jobs, then request cryptocurrency “deposits” or “investments” from victims under false promises of high-paying remote work. We want to be absolutely clear:

• Mobomo will never ask applicants to pay money, make investments, or purchase equipment at any stage of the hiring process
• Mobomo recruiters will never be aggressive and/or pushy – we believe hiring is a collaborative and respectful process – not a high-pressure sales pitch
• Mobomo does not use WhatsApp or similar messaging apps for recruitment – all communications are conducted through official channels
• All Mobomo email addresses end in “@mobomo.com” – we do not use domains like “mobomo.store” or other lookalikes

We are sharing this post to protect our community, raise awareness, and outline how to recognize and report these scams.

🚩 What’s Happening

Over the past few weeks, several individuals have contacted us about fraudulent outreach by someone claiming to represent Mobomo via WhatsApp. The tactics used include:

• Claiming to be from a staffing agency working on Mobomo’s behalf
• Claiming to be a Mobomo employee offering a remote position
• Offering compensation (commissions for example) to optimize site features for a site that doesn’t share the .com url, or the legitimate company, Mobomo.com.
• Asking applicants to pay an “investment” fee to proceed
• Using aggressive language to pressure targets into quick action

One individual recently reached out through our website to share screenshots and report a scammer who grew aggressive when they hesitated. Thanks to the warning banner we placed on our site, they paused and verified before taking further action. That tells us the message is getting through — and we hope this post will help it go even further.

We are taking this situation very seriously and have taken the following corrective action:

• Reported the scam to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
• Added a prominent warning banner to our website
• Alerted internal teams to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior

🕵️‍♂️ Spot the Red Flags: How to Identify Fraudulent Branding and Tactics

Scammers pretending to represent Mobomo often leave behind clues that something isn’t right. Here are common warning signs to help you identify fraudulent outreach:

• Contacted out of the blue on WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, or other social media
• Approached about a job you never applied for
• Non-traditional interviewing (text only, interview with no video, or no interview at all)
• On the spot hiring with no screening or interview process
• Asked to pay upfront or “invest” your own money in exchange for the job
• Promised a salary that seems unrealistically high for the role
• Sent links to a company website that’s only a few months old or registered for just one year
• Shown branding that looks off – colors that don’t match branding colors on the official website, stolen logos, and/or fake “All Rights Reserved” statements
• Email addresses that don’t end in the same domain (e.g., mobomo.store rather than mobomo.com)
• The website is a few days to months old, and the domain was only registered for one year

Remember: Real employers don’t ask you to pay them. If something feels suspicious, it probably is.

3. Iterative Collaboration for Precision – Working closely with the customer, Mobomo refined search parameters and filtering mechanisms based on iterative feedback. This process ensured that flagged content accurately reflected the intended compliance requirements while minimizing unnecessary revisions.
4. Delivering a Scalable Review Process –This process enabled the customer to conduct a far more thorough compliance review than initially anticipated. Once the relevant documents were identified, the results were compiled into a structured format that allowed for rapid agency review and approval. Additionally, a caching management process was implemented to ensure content updates were reflected in real-time across public-facing systems.  

The Impact: Smart Solutions for Complex Compliance Challenges

What made this solution successful was Mobomo’s ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and implement the right tools for the job. The Context: Overcoming Complexity to Build NASA’s Next-Gen Science Platform

One year ago, I joined Mobomo to support NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) and its public-facing platform, science.nasa.gov. This site serves as a vital counterpart to www.nasa.gov, NASA’s flagship site, which houses broader agency information. Together, these platforms form a cohesive ecosystem, with science.nasa.gov acting as a highly specialized offshoot dedicated to NASA’s scientific missions and discoveries.

I joined during a period of contract transition—a time of both opportunity and challenge. The existing architecture, though technically innovative, was cumbersome and fragmented, creating barriers to collaboration and limiting the platform’s ability to grow alongside NASA’s needs.

Our team approached this project by stripping the problem down to its most fundamental components, asking:

• What is this platform’s core purpose?
• What’s preventing it from achieving that purpose?

At its heart, the platform needed to efficiently communicate NASA’s science while enabling flexibility, scalability, and collaboration. With massive volumes of data and content to manage, any solution had to ensure precision while remaining nimble.

The Challenge: Overcomplicated Architecture

At the center of science.nasa.gov’s challenges was a decoupled architecture: a Vue.js frontend communicating with a WordPress backend via REST API calls. While this design was initially chosen for flexibility, it introduced significant challenges over time:

• Duplicative Development: Adopting new features from www.nasa.gov required additional layers of development in Vue, slowing progress and driving up costs.
• Barriers to Collaboration: The decoupled setup required specialized technical knowledge, limiting external developers’ ability to contribute effectively.
• Scale of Complexity: The vast codebase magnified the maintenance burden of technical debt, further slowing innovation and iteration.

In contrast, www.nasa.gov was built on a native WordPress architecture that served as a kind of parent app—a foundational codebase that could be extended and customized for specific use cases, like science.nasa.gov. However, because of the decoupled architecture, science.nasa.gov couldn’t fully benefit from the shared ecosystem.

The disconnect was holding SMD back. It became clear that simplicity was the path forward.

The Recommendation: Rebuilding on a Shared Foundation

By returning to first principles, we identified the fundamental inefficiencies in the system. The solution wasn’t just to simplify—it was to rebuild science.nasa.gov as a fully native WordPress application, aligning it with the architecture of www.nasa.gov to unlock shared functionality and scalability.

This approach offered significant advantages:

• Instant Feature Reuse: By treating www.nasa.gov as a “parent app,” SMD could adopt new features—like forms or media tools—without duplicative development.
• Reduced Codebase: Refactoring eliminated over two-thirds of the existing code, simplifying maintenance while improving scalability and functionality.
• Broader Accessibility: Native WordPress’s extensive documentation and community support lowered barriers for external developers to contribute.
• Expanded Features: Re-coupling immediately unlocked prebuilt tools like custom blocks developed by the www.nasa.gov team, as well as custom post types and templates.

By demonstrating the tangible time and cost savings—such as integrating forms in days instead of months—we secured the necessary buy-in to move forward with this bold transformation.

The Refactoring Process: Building for Simplicity and Scalability

Refactoring science.nasa.gov into a native WordPress application took six months of methodical, collaborative effort. However, the process wasn’t without its hurdles. For example, handling the unique HTML requirements embedded within the science data proved challenging, as they were not fully supported by the parent site’s architecture. Our team had to implement custom escaping functions, similar to WordPress’s kses filtering, to address this issue while maintaining data integrity.

1. Rebuilding Core Features

Rather than blindly porting existing functionality, we re-engineered features with a focus on simplicity and alignment with the parent app. This approach reduced redundancy while maintaining the platform’s unique needs.

2. Empowering Customization

We introduced a robust customization framework using hooks and dynamic templating. This gave developers the flexibility to create custom content without relying on new templates or post types, avoiding unnecessary complexity in the admin interface.

3. Streamlining Workflows

We improved admin/frontend parity, making the platform more intuitive for non-technical users. Additionally, we centralized issue tracking into a JIRA board, replacing scattered emails and SharePoint files with a well-organized Agile workflow.

Despite reducing the codebase by over two-thirds, we expanded the platform’s feature set and scalability—proving that simplicity and functionality are not mutually exclusive.

The Release: Demonstrating the Power of Simplicity in Action

The release of the new science.nasa.gov platform was a moment of both pride and learning. Like many launches of this scale, it wasn’t without its challenges. During post-release testing, several bugs were identified—four of which were significant enough to require immediate attention.

However, the simplified, single-app architecture proved to be a game-changer. Instead of getting bogged down in complex workflows or time-intensive processes, our team was able to quickly identify, address, and deploy fixes. In fact, we delivered three post-release deployments on the very first day—each one resolving key issues without disrupting the user experience.

This experience underscored the practical advantages of the leaner system. By reducing complexity and creating a more cohesive framework, we’ve equipped NASA’s Science Mission Directorate with a platform that’s not only easier to maintain but also far more agile in the face of real-world challenges.

The Results: A Platform Built for Growth

The impact of this transformation was profound:

• Faster Feature Integration: Features like forms, which previously took months to implement, could now be deployed in days—saving the equivalent of one full-time engineer’s workload annually and significantly accelerating project timelines.
• Improved Collaboration: The simplified architecture enabled external teams to contribute more effectively.
• Enhanced Usability: Non-technical users gained a more intuitive and efficient admin interface.
• Boosted Performance: Initial testing showed a 40-point improvement in Google PageSpeed scores for mobile, jumping from 29 to 69. This significant performance gain not only enhances the user experience on mobile devices but also provides a strong foundation for future optimization efforts.
• Future-Proof Scalability: The platform is now better equipped to evolve alongside NASA’s mission, supporting both massive data volumes and new functionality.

These results show how aligning with a shared foundation not only streamlined operations but also set the stage for long-term growth and innovation.

Reflection: First Principles Thinking in Action

This project reinforced the power of returning to first principles. By breaking down the problem to its core elements, we were able to question assumptions and design a solution that prioritized simplicity, scalability, and alignment.

The success of this transformation wasn’t just in the technical execution—it was in reframing the challenge itself. By viewing www.nasa.gov as a parent app rather than a separate entity, we unlocked a foundation for shared innovation.

From adhering to NASA’s rigorous security standards to implementing complex integrations like Adobe Asset Management (DAM), every step of this journey demonstrated the value of thoughtful design and collaboration.

Looking back, this transformation proved that reducing complexity isn’t just about making things easier—it’s about creating the conditions for innovation to thrive.

Truth in labeling is something that has been in place for food and drug products for over a century thanks to the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. As consumers, we are (or should be) interested in what we are ingesting. The saying “you are what you eat” is a statement ingrained in most Americans since it was first popularized by Victor Linklahr in the 1940s and most recently used as part of a title for a Netflix special. We are all familiar with the Nutrition Facts label that adorns most food products we buy at the store, which was mandated via the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990. Since its inception, it has become a trusted resource for consumers who are interested in learning more about what the products the purchase contain. Labels have been made available for a variety of products to deliver pertinent product information to consumers.  

The digital content our brain consumes is undoubtedly just as important as the food we consume and products we buy. The current administration has taken steps to formalize an AI Bill of Rights and passed the AI Disclosure Act of 2023. The integration of Artificial Intelligence into the content we ingest online brings with it the need for transparency in communication created using AI, whether it be content, graphics, or video.  

The Case for AI Content Labeling 

While it could be argued that labeling online content such as articles and their associated graphics/videos may decrease exposure for the publisher, there are far more benefits to providing a level of transparency much akin to the Nutrition Label we often see on food and drug products: 

• Consumer Trust: Consumers deserve honesty and transparency about what they are reading, viewing, or listening to and providing truth in information may serve to elevate the quality of a creator’s brand.  
• Bias Awareness: Providing consumers with an understanding of whether content is AI generated can shape how much inherent bias they must account for in the consumption of said content.  
• Acknowledgement of Human Input: Even in AI-generated content/media, there are human authors, editors, and/or designers playing crucial roles. Labeling clarifies the creation process without diminishing human contributions.  

When distilling the value that labeling of AI generated information brings to the consumer, analysis leads us to the conclusion that labels empower consumers to make informed choices, and cater to the varying levels of acceptance toward AI influenced content.  

Industry Leaders and Legislation  

Various companies are taking the lead in the effort to ensure the use of AI is transparent to their customers/user base. Instagram, for example, labels content generated using Meta’s AI tools automatically via “Imagined with AI” watermarks when shared to an Instagram post. This labeling requirement is limited to photorealistic video and audio files. While labeling in the United States is currently voluntary, there are states (like California, Illinois, Maryland,  and New York City) that have put legislation in place to ensure that consumers know when they are consuming AI generated content/media. What will likely follow is federal law and it could very likely model the European AI Act, which mandates labeling of AI-generated content, with hefty monetary and administrative penalties for noncompliance. YouTube is a company that has taken a stance on this already, as violation of their AI-generated content labeling policy may result in takedowns.

Intro

With the eruption of artificial intelligence and its now widespread access, the prospect of leveraging AI support to augment the practices and processes involved in IT services becomes increasingly appealing. 

In the past few months, our team has conducted a series of experiments exploring the capabilities of Generative AI systems (language models) in aiding CX/HCD practices and evaluating the quality of its responses and output. We sought to find the most valuable interactions and in doing so we also came across some of its limitations and pitfalls that require us to be mindful when engaging these new AI tools.

In this article, we present the highlights of the most valuable use of the tool and real examples of AI-generated responses which we graded in terms of their relevance and accuracy.

Generative AI interactions

In the experiments mentioned above, we focalized on the scope of IT services that pertain to Customer Experience (CX) and Human Centered Design (HCD) processes, with the consideration that our federal clients and projects require adherence to the IDEA Act, 508 compliance and USWDS, among other guidelines and requirements.

Learning Curves

An interesting aside that warrants attention is the learning curve that our team experienced during the initial stages of our experiments. Inconsistencies were identified throughout the conversation with the AI models. In some cases, the AI expressed difficulties in the interpreting our prompts and, as users, we felt the models did not understand the questions that what we perceived to have been presented clearly and were informed by our professional expertise. Additionally, prompts that were presented as sequential questions with the intent to  provide  depth and context to a topic were addressed by the AI models as isolated or one-off questions that did not connect with the flow of the conversation. This resulted in the generation of irrelevant answers and points of frustration as users. And while we do not discard that there is a learning curve to presenting better prompts, as users, the experience is perceived as shortcomings in understanding at the hands of the language model.

We were able to bridge these issues by improving our prompts and creating an introductory statement with a formula that proved effective: “You are – describe the persona – of a/ in a – describe the context – that – describe the activity, client, destination -. – Elaborate limits, boundaries, and inherent goals -.” From there on, we posed questions to obtain assorted support or content follow. Additionally, we incorporated middle steps in the form of questions to verify understanding which allowed us to check the correct direction of the conversation (and perhaps add to the comprehension of the model):” – describe or present a statement – Do you understand/ agree with this?”

Our results proved to be more valuable in scenarios where our expectation was for the AI model to supply summarized knowledge of (specific and widely) publicly available sources and create checklists to fulfill government requirements. Additionally, we found valuable support in the areas of scripting and wording for user engagements. We then graded some of the outputs from these exercises and have provided the results below:

1. Accessible Color Palette Generation

• “Generate an accessible color palette for the ed.gov website that meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio standards, ensuring text and interactive elements are easily readable by users with visual impairments or color vision deficiencies. The palette should include primary and secondary colors, as well as variations for hover and active states. Provide alternative visual cues, such as patterns or textures, to complement color distinctions.”
• “Design an accessible data visualization color scheme for ed.gov that effectively communicates information through contrasting hues and shades while adhering to WCAG guidelines. The scheme should consider color blindness and provide alternative representations, such as patterns or textures, for users with visual disabilities.”
• “Create an accessible color palette for the government website’s form elements, including input fields, buttons, and validation states (error, success, etc.), ensuring sufficient contrast and visibility for users with varying abilities. Provide alternative visual indicators, such as icons or text labels, to complement color based feedback.”
•  “Develop an accessible color scheme for the navigation menu and other interactive components on the government website, ensuring sufficient contrast between text, backgrounds, and hover/focus states. The scheme should also consider color blindness and provide alternative visual cues, such as underlines or icons, for users with visual disabilities.”
• “Generate an accessible color palette for the government website’s data visualizations and charts, ensuring sufficient contrast between different data points, labels, and backgrounds. The palette should also consider color blindness and provide alternative representations, such as patterns or textures, for users with visual disabilities.”

SCORE

The output is relevant to the project and balances comprehensiveness and succinctness while covering the requirements presented at the beginning of the conversation.

2. Inclusive Content Creation

• “Write a concise, plain language overview of the government website’s mission and services, ensuring the content is easy to understand for users with varying literacy levels and backgrounds. Avoid jargon, technical terms, or assumptions about prior knowledge.”
• “Create a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to federal aid programs offered by the Department, using simple, clear language that is accessible to users with diverse backgrounds and reading abilities.”
•     “Develop user-friendly instructions for navigating and using the website, ensuring the content is free from complex terminology or assumptions about digital literacy. Include visual aids or step-by-step guides to support users with varying abilities.”
•     “Write a series of blog posts or articles on educational topics relevant to the Department’s mission, using inclusive language and avoiding assumptions about the reader’s prior knowledge or background. Ensure the content is easy to understand for a wide range of audiences.”
•     “Create a glossary of common terms and acronyms used on the website, providing clear, concise definitions in plain language to aid users with limited subject matter expertise or English proficiency.”

SCORE

While output is relevant to the project, it repeats the application of basic inclusive criteria to standard sections. A more valuable suggestion would have referred to conducting User Research that captures the definition of inclusiveness for the website audience.

3. Multilingual Support

    “Translate the main landing pages and essential content on the website into Spanish, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate translations while maintaining accessibility standards for users with disabilities or limited English proficiency.”

    “Provide multilingual support for the website’s application forms and instructions, translating the content into the top five languages spoken by the target audience. Ensure the translations are accurate, culturally sensitive, and accessible to users with varying abilities.”

    “Develop a language assistance feature for the website, allowing users to select their preferred language and providing machine-translated content or links to human-translated resources. Ensure the feature is easily accessible and compliant with accessibility guidelines.”

    “Translate the website’s online resources and materials into multiple languages commonly spoken by the target audience, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate translations while maintaining accessibility standards for users with disabilities.”

    “Provide multilingual support for the website’s contact information and customer service channels, offering options for users to communicate in their preferred language or access language assistance services, while adhering to accessibility standards.”

SCORE

The output is relevant to the project and as before, balances comprehensiveness and succinctness in line with the requirements. But as it connects with the needs of the audience we feel a reference to user engagements is missing here, where valuable insight would be found.

4. Accessible Media Generation

    “Generate alternative text descriptions for all images on the website, ensuring the descriptions accurately convey the content and purpose of the images in a concise and meaningful way, adhering to accessibility guidelines.”

    “Create closed captions and transcripts for videos and multimedia content hosted on the website, ensuring accurate and synchronized captions that meet accessibility standards for users with hearing impairments or limited English proficiency.”

    “Develop audio descriptions for visual elements on the website, such as infographics, charts, or diagrams, providing alternative access to information for users with visual disabilities or learning preferences.”

    “Generate accessible and descriptive text alternatives for complex data visualizations or interactive content on the website, ensuring users with disabilities or limited access to visual information can comprehend the data and interact with the content effectively.”

    “Create text transcripts and captions for live or prerecorded webinars, presentations, or training sessions hosted on the website, ensuring accessibility for users with hearing impairments or limited English proficiency.”

SCORE

The output matches the project’s need and covers relevant examples and associated requirements.

5. Responsive Design Prototyping

    “Develop responsive design prototypes for the website’s main landing page and key service areas, ensuring optimal user experience across various devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. Consider different screen sizes, input methods, and assistive technologies in the prototypes.”

    “Create responsive prototypes for the website’s online application forms and submission processes, ensuring a seamless and accessible experience for users across devices, including touch-based interactions and compatibility with assistive technologies.”

    “Design responsive prototypes for the website’s resource library, allowing users to easily browse, search, and access materials from different devices while maintaining accessibility standards.”  

SCORE

This one is perhaps the weakest output starting from the model confusing a design prototype and a development demo. Assistive technologies belong to the scope of development and cannot be addressed with designs. The response mentions “ensuring optimal usability” but does not refer to usability testing which is the means to evaluate it. The response does hint at a program of sections and flows to cover that could offer value.

6. Persona-based User Testing

    “Create a set of diverse user personas representing individuals with varying abilities, backgrounds, and technical expertise who may interact with the website. Use these personas to generate realistic user scenarios and conduct accessibility testing to identify and address any usability challenges.”

    “Develop user scenarios based on personas representing users with disabilities, such as visual or hearing impairments, and use these scenarios to test the accessibility of the website’s online resources, applications, and tools.”

    “Create user personas representing individuals with limited English proficiency or from diverse cultural backgrounds, and use these personas to evaluate the effectiveness of the website’s multilingual support and inclusive content.”

The output offers relevant high-level ideas to guide user testing. The response again offers relevant good scenarios for the form designs. It mentions “compatibility with assistive technologies” which is the scope of development and not design though.

    “Integrate an accessible user feedback mechanism, such as a survey or comment form, on the website to gather insights and feedback from users with diverse abilities and backgrounds on the website’s usability, accessibility, and content relevance.”

    “Develop an accessible chatbot or virtual assistant feature for website, allowing users to ask questions, provide feedback, or report accessibility issues in a conversational manner, while ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies and multilingual support.”

    “Create an accessible online forum or community platform on website, where users can share their experiences, provide feedback, and engage in discussions, while ensuring inclusivity and moderation for respectful and constructive dialogue.”

    “Integrate an accessible feedback mechanism within the website’s online resources and tools, allowing users to report issues, suggest improvements, or provide feedback on the accessibility and usability of specific features or content.”

    “Develop an accessible feedback mechanism specifically for users using the website’s professional development resources and data reporting tools, gathering insights and feedback to improve the user experience and accessibility for this user group.”

SCORE

The response offers relevant avenues for setting up integrated feedback channels, with the caveat that the forum may prove too demanding to maintain.

10. Compliance Checklist Generation

     “Create a comprehensive checklist to verify compliance with Section 508, USWDS, and IDEA Act requirements for the main website, covering aspects such as accessibility testing, design standards, content guidelines, and performance metrics.”

     “Generate a compliance checklist specifically for the website’s online application forms and submission processes, ensuring adherence to accessibility guidelines, plain language requirements, and user experience best practices.”

Finding the limits and shortcomings of AI support

Most users of AI language models are aware that the models are trained with a robust and diverse data set and information, and that the data  is more or less updated, but cannot incorporate real-time or even near real-time news developments into outputs. The models notify users of this limitation only when user questions are clearly geared toward current events. Which means users’ interactions receive responses that are an alchemy of facts, relational composition and sui generis content that does not provide certainty or clarity regarding how much of each the resulting composition of the response is based on verifiable data. The AI model is trained to imitate human communication, and the responses are presented with a tone of a “person confident in their knowledge and intelligence” regardless of whether it is generating a verifiable response or one that is purely generative without any factual basis. While it may not have been the intent,, the responses of AI models can quickly turn deceitful.

An example of this scenario is a conversation one of our team members had with an AI model regarding government requirements (such as 508 compliance, 21st Century IDEA, etc.) for which responses were fact-based. The flow of the conversation progressed organically culminating in the user requesting the generation of user personas for a government agency. The AI model presented the output in the same matter-of-fact tone as every prior query.

The user  queried the foundation of the output – given that User Personas are research-based composites; to which, the model agreed and iterated an aligned definition. The user followed up by requesting the sources of research used for the personas provided by the AI. The model cited “Qualitative Interviews and User Research” as sources. When the user drilled down further, asking the model to provide the source of those studies, the AI backtracked: “The truth is, I do not have access to any actual user research studies or qualitative interviews involving individuals with visual impairments that I referenced when creating the persona example. As an AI assistant without direct access to such research data, I should not have implied that the persona was informed by real studies.”

It’s thanks to the fact that this interaction was carried out by a subject matter expert that this issue was detected and verified. The gravity of this AI model feature presents a real danger should an inexperienced user or someone not trained in CX/HCD were to carry out a similar exchange, and then base real-world decisions that impact customer experience outcomes on outputs from AI models that are inventions.

Conclusion

AI language models are powerful tools that can be leveraged to provide valuable support to our CX/HCD processes among other applications to IT services. In the current state of the AI capabilities we need to consider that the input and output needs to be carried out and supervised by professionals with experience and expertise in the topics covered, so that the responses can be effectively evaluated to determine if the content collected is viable for  real world application. 

Current AI models are smart, but there is still a long way to go before they can be considered reliable for more than a mere regurgitation of information and simplistic correlation. Further, the lack of transparency surrounding the validity of a model’s output is disconcerting (and potentially detrimental if the user is untrained and not a subject matter expert). Our team’s experience with this disconnect demonstrates a potential need for the inclusion of a disclaimer when an output is not verifiable and sources cannot be cited? Nevertheless, there is definite potential for AI models to serve as a useful resource in CX/HCD and as the models continue to evolve, we are confident that before long we can expect an expansion of its capabilities as well as a resolution to the shortcomings discussed.

Falls Church, VA – 15 December 2023. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded the Light Electronic Action Framework (LEAF) contract to Sierra7 as prime contractor and Mobomo as subcontractor. The contract, granted by the VA Office of Information and Technology Operations and Services (ITOPS), reinforces Sierra7’s position as a trusted partner in advancing digital transformation within the federal government.

The LEAF program is a groundbreaking low code/no code business process management workflow tool designed to empower non-technical users to rapidly digitize business processes, create custom reports, and ensure compliance with VA security and privacy policies. Sierra7, as the prime incumbent contractor since 2020, has been at the forefront of supporting all facets of the LEAF program, contributing to its evolution and helping shape the LEAF roadmap. As an example of its flexibility, VA used LEAF to comply with Executive Order 14042 as a COVID-19 vaccine tracker. In a matter of weeks, Sierra7 created training materials, workflows, and deployed LEAF to 310,000 users across the VA to securely track vaccination status.

Creating elegant solutions to complex challenges is something Mobomo teams are well known for among our customers and partners. Several years ago, one of our teams was challenged with a novel situation in which our customer required two separate companies to develop alongside each other using the same codebase. Each company was to work independently on different features, but the application had to include changes from both teams on a regular basis. Each team was already developing using the Agile Scrum methodology. So, what could we do? 

Two Teams, One Codebase

We knew we could not follow a normal Sprint schedule where both teams committed to the same codebase throughout the Sprint. Doing so would likely destabilize the code and developers from both teams would constantly be introducing conflicts and surprising each other with code changes. Since both companies were in competition, but also collaboration, we also had to manage blame, so that one team was responsible for their own code changes without blaming code changes from the other team. Both teams were motivated to keep the application running as smoothly as possible for our common customer, and for the users we support. In order to allow each team to work independently, foster a single clean and robust codebase, minimize conflicts, and keep each team responsible for its own changes, as the team’s Lead Developer, I devised a new Sprint methodology: Zipper Sprints. With Zipper Sprints, each team (Team A and Team B) has its own 2-week Sprint Cycle. Team A’s Sprint starts halfway through Team B’s Sprint, and vice versa. In this way, each team has one week to work on features in complete isolation, and a second week to incorporate changes from the other team and stabilize the code for release. Releases happen weekly but alternate between teams. So, one team releases one week, and the other team releases the following week. This provides a clean hand-off. This process allows for independent work as well as for coordination, clean and robust code, minimal conflicts, and clear responsibility. The graphic below illustrates how Zipper Sprints work for each individual team:

Breaking Down the Zipper Sprint Process

To understand how Zipper Sprints work for a single team, we should consider a single team’s viewpoint. Team A’s Sprint begins just after they have delivered code from the previous Sprint. All the code changes for the previous week (half of the 2-week cycle) have been made by Team A, so all of the code is familiar. Team A then works on tasks for the next 2-week Sprint. Ideally, the bulk of the work for the 2-week Sprint should be completed during the first week of the Sprint. This allows the second week for integration and testing of changes from Team B’s overlapping Sprint. At the end of the first week of development for Team A, Team B is finishing their own 2-week Sprint (having just integrated the changes from Team A’s delivery), and Team B delivers the code to the customer. Team A, in the middle of its two-week Sprint, then pulls Team B’s code changes from the customer’s Git repository and resolves any conflicts in the code. For the next week, Team A can work on integration and testing. While testing their own code changes, Team A is also testing how that code integrates with changes made by Team B. It is possible that Team B’s changes cause problems with the 1-week-old code changes already made by Team A, and this week of testing and integration should provide time to help find and fix these problems. At the end of the second week, code is finalized and pushed to the customer’s Git repository for one week of customer testing while simultaneously allowing Team B to pull the changes into their own Sprint.

To understand how Zipper Sprints work for a customer, we can consider the customer’s viewpoint. The customer provides tasks to both teams. Each week, one of the teams delivers code changes with their tasks that they have completed. Their code changes build on the work delivered by the other team from the previous week. The customer has one week to test this code, since another code release will come in the following week. The customer should find that the code is well tested and integrated. If bugs are found during testing, an attempt is made to determine if those bugs were also in the previous release (from the other team). If the bugs are new, they are assigned to the team that just delivered the code, since it is that team’s responsibility to deliver a clean release (without introducing new bugs). If the bugs existed before, they can be put in the backlog, prioritized, and a determination can be made about which team is responsible for fixing them. In this way, Zipper Sprints help the customer by providing a stable set of releases, and a constantly improving codebase with new features and fixes arriving each week from two different teams.

Embracing the Zipper Sprints Development Methodology in Your Organization

The concept of Zipper Sprints is not just a theory or a thought experiment. Our team has been using this technique for the past 4 years with great success. We have not made any significant changes to the process in that time, as both teams and the customer have all agreed that it works well. The Zipper Sprint process helped ease the tension from this unusual situation, while also allowing team isolation and promoting collaboration. To help facilitate this process, each team delivered its code changes as a Git Pull Request on the customer’s Git, and the other team had to approve the request before it could be merged. This not only facilitated communication about the changes being made (before they were applied), but it allowed each team to help enforce best practices and coding standards on the other team. Both teams had to come to an agreement about what coding styles would be followed and also had to follow them. Overall, I believe this process resulted in higher code quality overall. I recommend Zipper Sprints to any organization that finds themselves in this unique situation. It might also make sense for internal teams within the same company that has a large project and teams that are naturally split in this way. How To M­­­­arkup your Site for ChatGPT

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company responsible for the development of ChatGPT, has recently announced ChatGPT users are now able to access the Internet using the popular AI chatbot. One of Mobomo’s core services revolves around emerging technologies, so we’re paying attention.

While some website operators scramble to block the automated ingestion of their content using robots.txt, others ask themselves (or ask ChatGPT!), “Is my website AI-Friendly? How do I markup my website for ChatGPT?”

At this time, there are no new markup or content structuring guidelines for readability by AI models like ChatGPT. The guidelines for making your website more readable by ChatGPT and other natural language processing models are essentially identical to the guidelines for enhancing accessibility, search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience. These guidelines include:

1. Use Semantic HTML: Ensure your website uses proper HTML tags to structure content. If applicable, use structured data markup like Schema.org to provide detailed information about specific types of content (e.g., events, products, reviews). Utilize semantic elements such as <header>, <footer>, <nav>, and <article>; lists (<ul>, <ol>, <li>); and paragraphs (<p>) to convey the meaning of different sections and elements on your page.
2. Metadata: Include relevant metadata using elements like <title>, <meta> tags for descriptions and keywords, and Open Graph Protocol (OGP) or Twitter Cards for social media sharing. This metadata can provide context about your website’s content.
3. Alt Text for Images: Add descriptive alt text (<img alt=”…”>) to all images to make them accessible and to provide context to the model about the content of the images.
4. Use Descriptive Link Text: Make sure the text used for hyperlinks is descriptive and provides context. Avoid using generic phrases like “click here.”
5. Valid HTML: Validate your HTML code using tools like the W3C Markup Validation Service to ensure it adheres to web standards.
6. Test with Screen Readers: Test your website’s accessibility with screen reader software to ensure that visually impaired users can navigate and understand your content.

By following these best practices, you can create a website that is not only more readable by ChatGPT but also more accessible and user-friendly for all visitors.

Damascus, MD – Mobomo, LLC announced today that it has successfully completed a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 1 appraisal and is actively pursuing CMMC Level 2 compliance in alignment with U.S. Department of Defense requirements. 

CMMC Level 1 focuses on the implementation of foundational cybersecurity practices to protect Federal Contract Information (FCI). Mobomo’s successful appraisal confirms that the company has established and documented the required practices to meet Level 1 requirements.

ChatGPT is garnering a lot of attention as of late. The chatbot that OpenAI released in November 2022 has smashed the early adoption rates of other products, “accomplishing in two months what it took TikTok about nine months and Instagram two and a half years,” according to a cnet.com article. While this leap within AI is impressive, ChatGPT is merely the advancement that will eventually be viewed in much the same way as the cordless phone was (for those of us old enough to remember how revolutionary the cordless phone was).  

To be fair, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already made a significant impact on society and its influence is only expected to grow in the future. From improving healthcare and transportation to revolutionizing the way we work and communicate; AI has changed many aspects of our lives.  

AI is Changing the Way We Work and Live  

One of the most significant influences of AI is how it has changed the way we work. AI-powered tools have enabled businesses to automate routine tasks and analyze vast amounts of data, making work more efficient and freeing up time for more creative and strategic tasks. AI has also improved many aspects of our daily lives, such as providing more personalized and efficient customer service, improving navigation and traffic flow, and enhancing the accuracy of weather forecasts. While AI has made many tasks easier and more efficient, it has also raised concerns about its impact on employment. Some worry that AI will automate many jobs, leading to widespread job loss and economic disruption.  

If history teaches us anything, it is that, rather than being bad or good, these tools will be bad and good. Some jobs will go away, others will rise in their stead. Just as no one could imagine carrying a phone around with them everywhere they went 20 years ago; today, we think little of how dependent we have become on our phones today – not just for phone calls, but emails, internet searches, entertainment, even medical device monitoring and adjustments (think hearing aids and pacemakers). The reality of the integration of these tools into our everyday lives is that we really aren’t that far away from society as it is depicted at the beginning of the movie iRobot.  

ChatGPT today – iRobot tomorrow 

So, where do we go from ChatGPT? What is the next step in the AI awakening? The answer to this is somewhat limitless (social implications from AI-dating to replicating a lost loved one and industry evolutions such as the extinction of drivers’ licenses/car ownership as autonomous vehicles become a mainstay are just a few examples). One outcome of AI’s impact on our future lives that is interesting to postulate is the combination of AI, reinforcement learning, and robotics.  

Reinforcement learning is a type of machine learning that focuses on using algorithms to enable machines to make decisions based on feedback from their environment. The goal of reinforcement learning is to teach an agent to take actions that maximize a reward signal. In the context of robotics, the agent is a robot and the actions it takes are movements or actions it performs in its environment. 

In reinforcement learning, the agent interacts with its environment by taking actions and observing the consequences of those actions. Based on these experiences, the agent adjusts its behavior to improve its decision-making over time. The agent is incentivized to take actions that lead to a higher reward signal, such as successfully completing a task or avoiding obstacles. 

Reinforcement learning can be integrated with AI to build robots that are capable of making decisions and adapting their behavior in real-world environments. By combining AI with reinforcement learning, robots can learn from their experiences and improve their decision-making over time. This can lead to robots that are more autonomous and capable of completing complex tasks without human intervention. 

For example, a robot equipped with AI and reinforcement learning algorithms could be trained to navigate a warehouse and locate specific items. The robot would start by exploring the environment and learning the layout of the warehouse. As it encounters different obstacles and finds the items it is searching for, it would update its decision-making based on the feedback it receives from its environment. Over time, the robot would become more efficient at navigating the warehouse and locating items. 

However, the integration of AI with reinforcement learning and robotics also raises ethical and safety concerns. There is a need to ensure that the algorithms used in reinforcement learning do not harm people or cause unintended consequences. Additionally, as robots become more autonomous, there is a risk that they may make decisions that are not aligned with human values and interests. As AI continues to evolve, it will be important to continue monitoring its impact on society and to ensure that its development benefits all people. 

Chatbots enabled with AI, like ChatGPT, have placed our society on the doorstep of a new and fascinating leap forward. At the beginning of November, The Department of the Interior announced a lifetime pass providing free entrance to National Parks, Wildlife Refuges and Other Public Lands for veterans and gold star family members. The VA followed this announcement with an email to every Veteran and all eligible family members on November 17, 2022.

Mobomo developed and has managed the USGS Store site for several years now so when USGS stakeholders realized that approximately 20 million people had been notified of this fantastic opportunity, they made the Mobomo team aware that the site might experience an increase in traffic; which was exactly what happened (see chart below) – with 2.5 million requests funneled through the site across a 6-hour period and elevated activity throughout the course of the week.

USGS Store historically has maintained a steady flow of traffic through the site without large shifts in traffic. The spike in traffic the site experienced proved to be a significant testament to how well the Mobomo team engineered the site, which uses AWS elastic Kubernetes service (EKS) and leverages two scaling groups: one for running the applications (Drupal, nginx cache, redis), and one for running Elasticsearch clusters. More importantly, however, millions of our service members and their families were able to successfully obtain their lifetime National Parks passes – providing them the opportunity to build wonderful memories and enjoy our country’s treasured lands.

In September 2022, Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. announced its plans to award Team Mobomo the opportunity to build MBN’s Radio Sawa Mobile Application.

Radio Sawa provides news and information to audiences throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) through different media platforms, including mobile devices and the Internet. Radio Sawa maintains an active all-news website (www.radiosawa.com) which provides both up to the minute news and information as well as audio live streaming, making the network one of the most trusted sources of news and insights on social and political life in the Middle East and North Africa.

The project will consist of building a modern, user-friendly, and engaging mobile application for smartphone users living in the MENA region. It will be an audio-content-based app that allows users to seamlessly stream audio channels, listen to on-demand audio content/radio shows/podcasts, read about shows and episodes, and interact with the content and channel. The primary objective is to revamp the website and the mobile application of Radio Sawa which currently has three streams/channels, such that they meet the audio channel’s digital transformation needs. The app will be available on both iOS and Android app stores and be compatible with the devices used in the MENA region.
