Trevor Doerksen, founder and CEO of Mobovivo, said he's pretty confident that this new kind of personality app "is the right next step for a film and television celebrity."

It's clear as more and more celebrities flock to the app model, it will become harder to stand out from the crowd. Developers and creators of apps will have to push themselves to pinpoint what is unique about their celebrity, sports star, comedian, politician, etc., in order to translate "personalities" into "brands" and then into digital interactive experiences in fresh ways.

For Doerksen, that means getting beyond just "chat" as engagement.

Adrian Grenier, actor and indie producer, and Mobovivo, a provider of Social TV and video app technology to producers, networks and film studios, today announced the availability of the Reckless Adrian Grenier app - a first in actor-branded Social TV, designed especially for tablets and smart phones.

Grenier and Trevor Doerksen, Mobovivo’s founder and CEO, made the announcement from the 2012 Digital Hollywood media summit on Thursday March 8, at 5 p.m.

"Television can be an incredibly stimulating medium, but that doesn’t seem to be enough,” says Grenier. “By engaging and interacting with fans on any screen, artists and producers can create a great movie, and share it with fans, sooner.”

The Reckless app has interactive features like social sharing, scenes from the red carpet, and film screenings. Fans get autographed pics and keep up to all things Reckless in this one-of-a-kind companion app. The app also includes movie trailers and behind-the-scenes footage from Reckless productions.

"Brands that get in front of the consumer on the most valuable screen real estate since Ted Turner created CNN will win," says Doerksen. “This goes way beyond the ‘Directors Cut’ -- by the end of 2012, every new DVD will come with a second screen app.”

The "Entourage" star tells a conference that the free app will help his production firm by "demonstrating to future investors that we have an audience."

NEW YORK - Entourage star Adrian Grenier said Thursday that he hopes that his new iPad app called "Reckless Adrian Grenier" will help him create "maybe the most intimate way yet" to engage with fans and keep them up-to-date on his independent projects - plus help his production company attract investors by proving how strong his fan base is.

As reported by THR, Grenier and video app company and partner Mobovivo plan to launch the free app in the Apple app store this week.

"Big studios are just a system that exacts leverage with audiences," he said here at a conference. "But that's all different now."

Grenier and Mobovivo CEO Trevor Doerksen gave an overview of the app here at the 2012 New York Media Summit, organized by Digital Hollywood.
