Nap time

Hi Everybody,

Mochy here.

While I was hanging out in the window the other day, I had an idea! (Hey, I wasn’t sleeping, I was thinking!) And here’s what I was thinking about:

As many of you know, some of our friends’ Moms are doing a 3 day fundraising walk for breast cancer in San Francisco this October. Our Mom can’t go on the walk, but she wants to lend a hand, or a foot–tee hee, and raise some money, especially for the folks who need a bit more to reach their goal.

So, Ray and Coco and Mouse and I had this great idea of giving away a copy of the famous  2011 Workman Page a Day Cat calendar!
As you can see, this is not an easy item to come by,  but we  just happen to have 8 copies that we are donating to the cause. Eight AUTOGRAPHED copies.

How cool is that? So, you in?

Beach blanket bonkers

Haha, look at that cereal box!

I am a pig. I eat as much as I possibly can as fast as I can. And no, I never puke.

However, I was getting kinda porky, so my Mom decided to feed me a certain amount and keep me locked up in the bedroom while I eat.

That way the others can take their time without me horning in.

When they are done, I get to RUSH out and see if there are any leftovers. Sometimes those other cats don’t eat all their food right away, so Mom puts it up on top of the fridge.

Ray can get up there and eat it, though, and one day I SAW him! Big whoop. I can do that. So now, no food is safe.

Hairy keeping Matt Kelley company

There was an article today in The New York Times about a man named Matt Kelley who has an autoimmune disease called alopecia areata.

He’s bald. All over.

Now while us Sphynx cats think being bald is way cool, most humans do not like it,  and so instead of feeling special they feel bad about themselves.

Matt felt bad, for a long time, but he’s feeling better now with a little help from his cat, Hairy. In fact, he’s feeling so much better that:

1. He’s planning to become a therapist and help other people with similar problems find self acceptance; and
2. He is adding to his family of hairless critters. We think that is a swell plan.

Hi Folks,

It’s me, Mochy. I haven’t written in a while because, believe it or not, it’s been too darn hot.

Too hot for me, the heat seeking missile? Me, the duvet diving diva? Yep. Too hot. I just lay around on my back with my legs in the air looking like a polar bear.

Well, luckily it’s cooled off a bit, so now I’m snuggling with my bros. That wonky looking one on the left is RayPod. If he didn’t have curly furs he’d look as weird and wrinkly as moi. Not that he doesn’t look weird. In fact, as someone pointed out, he looks like a big gray pipe cleaner.

The other one, whose head is out of the picture, is Mouse (that’s Truman to you). Truman is very very handsome. And a real gentleman. He has four teeth, allergies, and patches where he’s licked his fur. He’s a bit of a mess. I love him.

Coco is in the other room, talking to herself very loudly. She is a Burmese which explains everything.

Yesterday I went to see my friend Igor at St Marks Vet, and he took out six of my teeth. Then he polished up all the rest. Igor said I was a very very good girl.
I say painkillers make anyone a very very good girl. (My Mom loves her dentist because they give her laughing gas and tell her she is a very very good girl.
Is it the good…or the girl.. part she likes best?)

Anyway. More about me:

I went in early in the morning, Boy, was I starving. I love to eat. But I need my teef to eat. And everyone was so nice to me, I wasn’t even very scairt. Dr. Sally even came in early to make sure I was OK because she knows my Mom is a worry wart.

Mom needn’t have worried. Everything went really well and the next thing I knew,  I was in a taxi going home. Yipee!!!Out of the Sherpa bag!

I ate a nice dinner. Then Mom gave me an antibiotic pill. And I sat on her lap and drooled on her while we watched TV.

Coco and Ray sniffed me.

Mouse gave me a few licks to make sure it was still me. It was. Just me with 6 fewer teef!

This morning I had my pain meds. Another teeny pill. A big breakfast.

Then I rolled around with Mouse in the heated bed. (You can see it in the link below)

I am fine.

I got my ears cleaned too, for free.

This is me and my daughter, Bianca. She looks exactly like me, doncha think? She even acts like me, which means she is very very silly.

The human I live with sometimes calls herself my Mom. Is that weird? Is having no fur weird? Is being a good Mom all about not thinking your kid is weird?

The other day, Ray and I just happened to be on the counter, and the cabinet door was left open by mistake, so Ray had this great idea.

Oh my goodness, I said, Mom will whup our butts.

Ray pretended he hadn’t said anything. I decided to take a little peek.

Yum, freeze dried chicken treats! One of my favorites.

But wait, I said, she’s right there, in the other room. What if she catches us?

No problem, said Ray. Coco is on the case.

Coco works for Homeland Security and spent a LOT of time with Dick Cheney, so she is a really good spy.

She also has an angelic face so Mom never gets mad at her.

OK. Quick!

Gotcha!

Shhhh. I am asleep.

Look closely.

When I wake up, I will be 4 years old.
