'The Hunger Games' theaticral trailer hits the web

After months of waiting the theatrical trailer for The Hunger Games movie has now been released online and it's fantastic.

Running at 2 mins 35 seconds, the trailer, can be viewed in hi-definition on the iTunes website. Movie goers will be able to see the trailer at the screening of Breaking Dawn.

Breaking: Donald Sutherland cast as President Snow

With perhaps the final casting piece set in place for Lionsgate's adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, it has been announced that veteran actor Donald Sutherland has joined the cast as the villainous President Snow.

While the announcement comes as a surprise, it is a welcome one for this reporter, as Sutherland has had a storied career dating back to the 1960's and will be more than up to the task of embodying this villain, pitted against Katniss Everdeen and the rebellion.

Filming is already underway for The Hunger Games, will a scheduled release of March 23, 2012.

Newcomer Amber Chaney cast as Avox Girl in 'Hunger Games'

As minor casting announcements continue to roll in, Lionsgate have announced that relative newcomer Amber Chaney will be playing the Avox Girl in The Hunger Games.

As I'm sure most will remember, an Avox is someone who has had their tongue cut off as punishment by the Capitol. In this case, the Avox in question plays a rather significant emotional role in the story.

Filming is now underway for The Hunger Games, with a scheduled release date of March 23, 2012.

Update: Toby Jones added to 'Hunger Games' cast

Update: Lionsgate have sent us confirmation to this report.

With all the major roles now cast for The Hunger Games, the supporting cast is continuing to flesh out now filming has begun. The latest? Veteran actor Toby Jones has signed on as the announcer of the Games, Claudius Templesmith.

Jones, best known for roles such as Karl Rove in W. and the voice of Dobby in the Harry Potter series, will be given duties of announcing and promoting the games alongside Stanley Tucci's Caesar Flickerman.

With Deadline breaking the story earlier today, we are still waiting for official confirmation from Lionsgate, although if history is any indication, we can take Deadline for their word.

The Hunger Games is set for a March 23, 2012 release.

Breaking: Lenny Kravitz cast as Cinna in 'Hunger Games'

After being long rumoured and anticipated, Lionsgate have today announced that Lenny Kravitz has been cast as Cinna for The Hunger Games.

We first reported about Kravitz's potential involvement back in late April, and as the cast has continued to flesh out over the past month, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna had become the logical role up until today's confirmation.

A renowned musician, Kravitz broke into the film world with a critically acclaimed role in the Oscar-nominated Precious last year. To read from the press release, hit the jump!

Casting: Stylists Octavia and Portia cast for 'Hunger Games'

With much of the major casting news for The Hunger Games already announced, the supporting cast is continuing to flesh out, as Lionsgate today have confirmed two more have joined the ranks of the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

The roles of stylists Octavia and Portia will go to Brooke Bundy and Latarsha, respectively. A quick refresher: Octavia is a member of Peeta's prep team for the games, as is Portia for Katniss.

With these announcements, we can expect to see the more major announcement of casting Cinna in the coming days or weeks, as filming is now underway in North Carolina.

Entertainment Weekly have today debuted the first photo from The Hunger Games movie and it's none other than Jennifer Lawrence as our beloved hero, Katniss Everdeen.

Amongst the release of the photo was the news that more pics and some exclusive details about the move will be released by Entertainment Weekly soon. So keep checking back for more info.

It was a very special day for the webmaster of MockingjayUK, Nick Myers; today he turns 22!

The staff at MockingjayUK would love to wish him a great birthday.
