When you see models pursuing their dream of modeling, there is a lot that goes into a great model. The photos are key to getting you in the door. Once you are signed with an agency – it is up to you to communicate with your agency and keep them stocked with updated photos and comp cards.
If you do not do your part, you will most likely get the more general castings, and open calls since you have not done your part in generating any leads or interest. There is no way that models are getting booked solely on their looks. Yes, I said it and it is true. Often there are models that should be booking the jobs, but they do not attend castings due to poor time management skills.
Instead of telling your agent that you cannot make a casting, try asking if they are seeing models any other time? You never know, you could be giving your booking to another model just because you did not get to the casting.

So looking back over my personal modeling career I can only think of how thankful I am for all that i have learned, and all of the wonderful people I have met along the way. As an agent now, I feel that being a model for over 14 years really helped shape my current business. I understand what it feels like to book a great modeling job, and I know what it is like to not get a booking, only to watch one of my friends book that job that I lost. What I have learned is that there is so much more to life than our daily jobs. Yes we all love to get satisfaction out of what we do daily, but remember, the people we love are what really count at the end of the day. The people we call when we get the booking, the people we call when we lose a booking, the people we call when we feel bloated or just run into a bad day, the people we call when something great happens!People are what I give thanks for. I am thankful for the wonderful people that work with me at Peak Models & Talent, I am thankful for the models that book the jobs, I am thankful for the models that are still trying without giving up to get booked, I am thankful for the clients that come back to us over and over becuase we gave good service. I am thankful for all that is good and kind and right with this world. Thanks for reading this blog, and Happy Thanksgiving!

The model diet

There seems to be a strong influence on young models to be thin. As a modeling agent, I am surprised at how many models come to me dangerously too thin. The model diet should be eating healthy, and that includes eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a couple of light snacks when needed. Stick to healthy fruits and veggies if you are worried, but do not skip food groups in an attempt to be thin. The best route is exercise to manage weight. Starving only harms you long term.

With the holidays upon us, keep in mind that you might be asked to bring spring shoes and sandals to photo shoots. Yes, that is correct, spring and summer for next year are shooting now. So, just as it cools down outside, it heats up on the set, and the runway.

Remember modeling is not just a job, it is a way of life. You must respect yourself and your clients. It should be your top priority to take the best care of yourself possible. Whatever that means to you, do it. Yoga, regular workouts, drinking your water, eating a balanced diet, and yes I did say eating! Do not skip meals, you will harm yourself, and no one hires models that are not vibrant.
