Neste texto, quero divulgar a modalidade do&lt;br /&gt;modelismo talvez menos conhecida e praticada no Brasil, o&lt;br /&gt;nautimodelismo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bom, o que é modelismo? A grosso modo, é a atividade de&lt;br /&gt;recriar, em escalas menores, aviões, tanques, carros, navios, barcos, trens,&lt;br /&gt;pessoas ou virtualmente qualquer coisa existente na natureza ou construída pelo&lt;br /&gt;homem. O modelismo que recria aviões denomina-se aeromodelismo; e os que recriam&lt;br /&gt;trens e carros chamam-se, respectivamente, ferreomodelismo e&lt;br /&gt;automodelismo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Existem duas categorias principais de modelismo - o&lt;br /&gt;estático e o dinâmico. O estático, muito praticado por entusiastas da&lt;br /&gt;miniaturização, sendo a modalidade mais conhecida o plastimodelismo, que&lt;br /&gt;trabalha exclusivamente com polímeros, talvez seja o mais minucioso, atento a&lt;br /&gt;todos os detalhes existentes nos objetos em escala cheia (1:1)&lt;br /&gt;retratados.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O modelismo dinâmico, por sua vez, motorizado ou não, tem por&lt;br /&gt;finalidade recriar, em escala, principalmente meios de transporte (civis e&lt;br /&gt;militares) que se movimentam, principalmente por meio de rádio-controles. No&lt;br /&gt;entanto, existem algumas submodalidades de aeromodelismo e nautimodelismo que&lt;br /&gt;utilizam elásticos para propulsão, os VCC, e não usam motores.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Afunilando&lt;br /&gt;mais ainda o ramo, dos modelos motorizados, existem os que usam motor à explosão&lt;br /&gt;e os que usam motores elétricos. Quais seriam as diferenças fundamentais? Os&lt;br /&gt;motores à explosão, conhecimentos por "glow", por conta do combustível especial&lt;br /&gt;que utilizam, são utilizados em modelos (aero, nauti e auto) pesados, feitos de&lt;br /&gt;madeira balsa, fibra ou outros materiais mais pesados. Para praticar o&lt;br /&gt;aeromodelismo glow, por exemplo, é necessário procurar um espaço amplo, com&lt;br /&gt;pista de pouso e decolagem, ou afiliar-se a um aeroclube (na cidade do Rio de&lt;br /&gt;Janeiro existem 3). Esses modelos devem ser manuseados com extremo cuidado, o&lt;br /&gt;aeromodelista precisa ter consciência dos riscos que a diversão pode trazer e&lt;br /&gt;fazer de tudo para minimizá-los (um dia escrevo sobre esses riscos).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Por&lt;br /&gt;outro lado, existe o modelismo elétrico - que usa motores que transformam&lt;br /&gt;energia elétrica em dinâmica. Eu sou aero, auto, nauti e ferreomodelista, e&lt;br /&gt;pratico apenas o modelismo elétrico. Por que razões? Em primeiro lugar, porque&lt;br /&gt;os motores elétricos não poluem, e essa talvez seja a principal razão. Em&lt;br /&gt;segundo, porque os motores elétricos utilizam baterias recarregáveis,&lt;br /&gt;reaproveitáveis centenas de vezes, e por conta disso a manutenção da brincadeira&lt;br /&gt;sai bem mais barata. Em terceiro, porque os modelos elétricos podem ser usados&lt;br /&gt;em praticamente qualquer lugar, por serem mais leves (os aeromodelos elétricos&lt;br /&gt;conhecidos como park flyers são feitos de depron, um isopor um pouco mais denso&lt;br /&gt;que o normal), menores e menos perigosos. Em suma, se um avião elétrico cai, o&lt;br /&gt;prejuízo pode chegar a, dependendo do modelo, R$ 700,00. Se cai um avião glow, o&lt;br /&gt;prejuízo pode passar dos R$ 3000,00.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Voltemos ao nautimodelismo. O&lt;br /&gt;modelismo é a recriação, em escala reduzida, de embarcações reais existentes ou&lt;br /&gt;históricas, militares, mercantes ou esportivas, construídas a fim de se&lt;br /&gt;reproduzir todos os detalhes de uma embarcação 1:1. No Brasil, a prática começou&lt;br /&gt;na década de 1930, com Hely Bricio do Valle. Em 1945, o nautimodelista João&lt;br /&gt;Avelino Sidov construiu 21 modelos. Em 53, Leopoldo Geyer encomendou ao&lt;br /&gt;construtor Brício o modelo do veleiro Cayru. Assim começou de fato, no Rio de&lt;br /&gt;Janeiro, a prática do nautimodelismo no Brasil. No Museu Histórico da Marinha no&lt;br /&gt;Rio de Janeiro, está em exibição a Coleção Alves Camara com dezenas de modelos&lt;br /&gt;de embarcações regionais que foram desaparecendo aos poucos com o surgimento da&lt;br /&gt;ferrovia. Lá também é possível conhecer os modelos dos navios militares da nossa&lt;br /&gt;frota. Em São Francisco do Sul, SC, encontra-se uma enorme coleção de peças de&lt;br /&gt;modelismo naval no Museu Nacional do Mar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hoje, o nautimodelismo possui&lt;br /&gt;diversas associações e grupos espalhados por todo o território nacional, mas&lt;br /&gt;poucos em real e ativo funcionamento, o que é uma pena. Em São Paulo, no&lt;br /&gt;Ibirapuera, existe o modelódromo para praticantes de várias modalidades de&lt;br /&gt;modelismo, inclusive com um tanque de nautimodelismo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No Rio de Janeiro,&lt;br /&gt;o único tanque de nautimodelismo que conheci foi o do Aterro do Flamengo, que&lt;br /&gt;nem sei se ainda existe (se alguém tiver alguma informação, avise-me por favor).&lt;br /&gt;Por conta disso, só nos restam os lagos e poços da cidade e arrededores.&lt;br /&gt;Praticantes de nautimodelismo se reúnem no Bosque da Barra, no Parque Guinle&lt;br /&gt;(Laranjeiras), no Campo S. Bento (Niterói), na piscina do CEFET (Maracanã),&lt;br /&gt;dentre outros lugares, mas falta no Rio uma associação organizada e disposta a&lt;br /&gt;divulgar o hobby.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No nautimodelismo motorizado (que também pode glow ou&lt;br /&gt;elétrico), existem 3 categorias básicas: os modelos em escala lentos, as lanchas&lt;br /&gt;rápidas e os veleiros.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Esses modelos lentos, como o meu Bristol Bay&lt;br /&gt;abaixo, reproduzem fielmente as embarcações reais e possuem navegação em&lt;br /&gt;velocidade de escala, isto é, são bastante lentos para tentar reproduzir, em&lt;br /&gt;escala, a velocidade com que seu &lt;em&gt;representamen&lt;/em&gt; real navega. Hoje, já existem os motores&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;brushless&lt;/em&gt;, sem escovas que, por terem muito menos atrito, desperdiçam&lt;br /&gt;muito menos energia, são mais fortes e com mais empuxo, mas são usados, no&lt;br /&gt;Brasil, quase que exclusivamente no aeromodelismo elétrico. As baterias&lt;br /&gt;utilizadas são as NiCad (níquel-cádmio) ou NiMh (Níquel-metal-hidreto),&lt;br /&gt;resistentes e armazenadoras de bastante energia (as mais fracas que tenho são de&lt;br /&gt;1500 mili ampères), mas pesadas demais. Por isso, os aeromodelistas usam as Lipo&lt;br /&gt;(Líon-polímero), mais leves, mas também mais perigosas. O barco possui ainda um&lt;br /&gt;servo, nada mais que uma engrenagem de acionamento eletromecânico que faz o leme&lt;br /&gt;virar para um lado e outro. Esse servo é ligado a um receptor, um dispositivo&lt;br /&gt;eletroeletrônico que dispõe de uma antena que capta os comandos do&lt;br /&gt;rádio-controle. No jargão modelista, o receptor é conhecido como Rx e o&lt;br /&gt;transmissor (o rádio), como Tx. O rádio do nautimodelismo pode ser o tipo&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;stick&lt;/em&gt; ou &lt;em&gt;pistola&lt;/em&gt;. O stick, abaixo, possui dois controladores&lt;br /&gt;que se movem em todas as direções, é o modelo de rádio usado no aeromodelismo.&lt;br /&gt;Cada direção de comando (cima-baixo / esquerda-direita) em cada stick é&lt;br /&gt;conhecida como canal. Como é um&lt;br /&gt;navio pesqueiro, possui redes de pesca (feitas de rede de cabelo), tem bote&lt;br /&gt;salva-vidas, um mergulhador atrás, duas velas, cordas e todas as amarras&lt;br /&gt;necessárias. O navio é feito de madeira (casco) e fibra (convés). A hélice é&lt;br /&gt;feita de cobre. Em nautimodelos rápidos, a precisão do controle de velocidade é&lt;br /&gt;muito importante, assim como nos auto e aeromodelos. Um atraso de uma fração de&lt;br /&gt;segundo no comando pode significar a destruição total de um modelo. Ah, ali à&lt;br /&gt;direita da lancha, vocês podem ver um amontoado de baterias NiMh.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;Por fim, o nautimodelismo à vela. Essa é,&lt;br /&gt;talvez, a categoria de nautimodelismo mais praticada no Brasil e no mundo. Os&lt;br /&gt;modelos à vela não possuem motor, portanto também não precisam de um ESC. Em&lt;br /&gt;compensação, possuem 2 servos, um para o comando do leme e outro, para o comando&lt;br /&gt;de vela. O servo do comando de vela, através de amarras reproduzidas exatamente&lt;br /&gt;como as dos veleiros reais, afrouxa ou aperta as velas para "caçar" o vento e&lt;br /&gt;fazer o veleiro sair do lugar. Para controlar um veleiro rádio-controlado, o&lt;br /&gt;modelista deve ter pelo menos uma noção de velas, dinâmica eólica, e noções de&lt;br /&gt;navegação. Lidar com esse tipo de modelismo é uma ótima maneira de aprender&lt;br /&gt;sobre navegação e passar a dominar o jargão técnico, desde termos simples como&lt;br /&gt;proa, popa, bombordo e boreste, até os mais "técnicos", como cunningham,&lt;br /&gt;boomjack, molinete, moitão, entre outros. De maneira geral, todo nautimodelo precisa ser muito bem&lt;br /&gt;impermeabilizado. Eu, por exemplo, "abrigo" as baterias (que, no caso do&lt;br /&gt;veleiro, são 4 pilhas AA comuns) e o Rx com vários balões de festa.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;Além desses modelos, existe obviamente uma&lt;br /&gt;infinidade de variações - os navios de guerra com canhões que soltam água,&lt;br /&gt;réplicas rádio-controladas do Titanic, de vapores brasileiros, veleiros de quase&lt;br /&gt;2 metros de altura, aerobarcos gigantes etc. Tudo depende do bolso do freguês e&lt;br /&gt;do entusiasmo pelo hobby.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;De todas as modalidades de modelismo, eu&lt;br /&gt;considero o nautimodelismo a mais "tranquila". É ótimo levar meus modelos para&lt;br /&gt;um laguinho qualquer e ficar conversando com amigos, passando tempo enquanto os&lt;br /&gt;controlo pra lá e pra cá, faço manobras, passo por obstáculos etc.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;Por fim, "tenho um filho de 8 anos, é&lt;br /&gt;aconselhável comprar um modelo desses?" A resposta é "infelizmente não". O&lt;br /&gt;modelismo é um hobby para adultos. Os modelos que compramos raramente vêm&lt;br /&gt;prontos para o uso, é preciso montá-los, soldar, entender de eletrônica e&lt;br /&gt;eletricidade (no caso dos modelos elétricos) e de mecânica (no caso dos modelos&lt;br /&gt;glow). A prática requer uma certa paciência (demora bastante até você ficar&lt;br /&gt;satisfeito com o navegar do seu nautimodelo ou com o planeio do seu aeromodelo),&lt;br /&gt;além de um certo treinamento, se você não quiser destruir modelos relativamente&lt;br /&gt;caros por bobeira. Para as crianças, existem os brinquedos de controle-remoto.&lt;br /&gt;Estes não podem ser considerados modelos, por conta da simplicidade de recursos&lt;br /&gt;eletrônicos e mecânicos, mas são uma ótima maneira de inciar a criança nesse&lt;br /&gt;hobby. Esses brinquedos são encontrados em lojas de brinquedos; os modelos&lt;br /&gt;profissionais, em lojas especializadas. Aqui no Rio recomendo a KnKhobby, a&lt;br /&gt;BigField e a Asas Elétricas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;É caro? Pode ser - ou não. Como eu disse,&lt;br /&gt;depende da qualidade do equipamento que você quer ter. Talvez o nautimodelismo&lt;br /&gt;seja, das modalidades de modelismo que pratico (aero, nauti, auto e ferreo), o&lt;br /&gt;mais barato. Geralmente, os equipamentos mais caros são os Tx. Os modelos em si&lt;br /&gt;não são tão caros. E lembre-se sempre que existem dezenas de fabricantes de&lt;br /&gt;peças eletrônicas e mecânicas, com os mais variados preços e&lt;br /&gt;qualidades.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;color:#0000a0;"&gt;Há também quem goste de construir seus&lt;br /&gt;próprios modelos, o que quase sempre fica mais barato, mas requer uma paciência&lt;br /&gt;de Jó. Os três navios partiram do porto espanhol de Palos no dia 3 de agosto de 1492.&lt;br /&gt;Santa Maria era o maior navio (e o mais lento) da frota, e muitos especialistas acreditam que deveria ter mais de 30 metros de comprimento. Era uma típica nau, também conhecida como galeão, e devia ter três ou quatro mastros, popa alta e no mínimo três metros de profundidade.&lt;br /&gt;Depois de carregar o navio com provisões nas Ilhas Canárias, o Santa Maria e as caravelas de apoio empreenderam uma viagem de cinco semanas pelo mar, sem sinal de terra firme. A tripulação vibrou quando finalmente avistou terra – as Bahamas – em 12 de outubro de 1492.&lt;br /&gt;Os três navios passaram mais de dois meses explorando as ilhas da região, até que o Santa Maria encalhou no Haiti, e o navio foi desmontado para construir uma fortaleza, que iria defender a primeira colônia espanhola da ilha.&lt;br /&gt;Hoje existem diversas réplicas do Santa Maria ao redor do mundo, incluindo uma cópia em Ohio, EUA, que foi aberta à visitação em 1992. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 496px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 506px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.nauticurso.com.br/imagens/pinta1.jpg" border="0" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;A Pinta foi uma das caravelas que integrou a expedição do Almirante Cristóvão Colombo na viagem em que, navegando para Oeste pelo Oceano Atlântico, veio a descobrir o continente americano (1492). De acordo com a tradição em vigor na Espanha, à época, as embarcações eram baptizadas com o nome de santos da Igreja Católica e, normalmente, recebiam também apelidos. Desconhece-se, entretanto, o nome católico da embarcação.&lt;br /&gt;Armada pela família Pínzon, era de propriedade de Martín Alonso Pinzón (que a comandava) e de Cristóbal Quintero, este último acusado de sabotagem da embarcação ainda na Espanha, uma vez que esta fazia água e que por duas vezes viu o seu leme quebrado após a partida de Palos de la Frontera. Necessitou, por essa razão, de reparos, providenciados em escala nas ilhas Canárias.&lt;br /&gt;Era a melhor e mais rápida embarcação da expedição: foi a bordo dela que, a 12 de Outubro de 1492, Rodrigo de Triana primeiro avistou o Novo Mundo. Tinha 20 metros de comprimento por sete metros de largura e a capacidade aproximada de 60 toneladas.
