Since we have been inundated with feature model requests these past few weeks, we had to make sure we found someone very exceptional to feature first- That’s why we opted for Venise Spokes- an upcoming Fashion, Lingerie, Glamour, & Art Nude model from Oxfordshire, UK. Let’s find out a bit more about her…

So Venise, have you always wanted to be a model & when did this interest first come about?

Ever since I was a teenager I have always taken pictures of myself in my bathroom. I love being in front of the camera.

Great, because it looks like the camera likes you being in front of it too! How long have you been modelling?

I’ve been modelling since 14th February 2010 and loving every minute of it.

How did you end up in the modelling industry?

I signed up to a models & photographers networking site and it went from there really.

Is there any specific type of modeling you prefer doing?

Fashion, Lingerie, Glamour, Art Nude

Any models that inspire you?

Katie Green. I look up to her as she is campaigning for ‘Say No to Size Zero’. Shes an inspiration to millions of girls all around the world.

Is modeling a hobby or a full time occupation?

My day job is retail, & I work part time modeling. Shame really as I would love to be in front of the camera five days a week.

Roughly how many shoots have you taken part in to date?

Let’s talk advice now- what advice can you offer other models/ anyone that’s new to the industry as a model/ people interested in getting started with a career in modelling?

Just be yourself & don’t listen to people who try and kick you down.

Wise advice, and let’s face it- there will always be people like that around. These are the people who will help you succeed!

Lastly Venise- where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Being a professional model, full time.

Retinoblastoma is very rare; only about 50 children are diagnosed with the condition each year in Great Britain. It is also very treatable, especially if caught early. Around 98% of children are successfully treated.

The signs of retinoblastoma which are described below can also be caused by other less severe conditions and can sometimes be due to the angle of the light when a photograph is taken.

The signs to look out for

A white reflex: A white reflexion can be seen in a photograph where the flash has been used. Often one eye will have “red eye” which is normal but the other eye may look white, yellow or orange. This may be seen in just one or many photographs of the child.

A white reflex may also be seen when the child is in artificial light or a darkish room. Some parents say that it looks like a cat’s eye caught in light or that they think they can see the back of their child’s eye, other parents say it looks like jelly. This white reflex may only be seen every so often but in some cases it is present all the time.

An absence of “red eye” in flash photographs: In a photograph where one eye has “red eye” (which is normal) the other eye may look black or looks “wrong”. This can also be a sign that something is not right.

A squint: A squint can be a sign of retinoblastoma, although a squint can also be nothing more than a squint. It is always worth having it checked out quickly just to make sure. Some people call a squint a “lazy eye”; it is where one or both eyes look in or out.

Deterioration in vision: A child may have deterioration in their vision or they may have had poor vision from birth. You may notice that the child does not focus or fix & follow as well as other children or babies of the same age.

Red, sore or swollen eye: A child’s eye may become very red and enflamed for no reason. This sign is usually linked with other signs.

A change in colour to the iris: The iris, the coloured part of the eye, can sometimes change colour, sometimes only in one area.

If the child is aged five or younger and you have noticed one or more of the signs above always take them to have their eyes examined.

The most important thing to do if you see any of these symptoms is to get advise the childs parent or guardian to get the child’s eyes examined. It is very important to do this quickly just in case the child needs to start treatment.

This week we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to interview the stunning and versatile model Vikki Leigh.

Vikki is 21 and lives in Essex, England, UK.

So lets find out more about Vikki and her modeling career…

Have  you always wanted to be a model and when did your interest in modeling first come about?

I’ve always loved having my picture taken and been quite photogenic, but my interest started when I was around 15.

How did you end up in the modeling industry?

My Mum paid for me to have a professional shoot for my 15th birthday and I loved it so much I wanted to get into it more. So I sent off a few pictures, joined a few sites and agencies and here I am today!

Which specific type of modeling do you prefer or enjoy doing?

I do a lot of different types of modeling but most photographers and people at my shoots always say I am more confident with less on! So, I love glamour the most but enjoy all types of modeling.

Are there any models that really inspire you?

Obvious ones like Katie Price & Kate Moss, Lucy Pinder etc. I love Tyra Banks from America’s Top Model and I recently discovered a model called Brooke Lee who’s amazing! I’d love to be like her one day.

TJ Resnic

Do you consider modeling as your hobby or full time occupation?

No, unfortunatly it’s not! I work too hard, I have two other jobs. By day I’m an office administration officer and by night I am a barmaid a few nights a week!

Roughly how many shoots have you taken part in to date?

Umm, roughly? Not as much as I’d like to have done, I think I’ve done about 30ish!

Any publications?

Well, I sent a picture into Nuts magazine once and they put my picture in their mag under ‘First Timers’, but that’s about it, My aim is to get published this year, if not next.

Which photographers have you worked with?

I have worked with loads of fantastic photographers, Dex Price, Keith Wright, Paul Brown, TJ Resnic, Peter Rydon etc etc!

As you have worked with a lot of Photographers which would you have considered to be your favorite?

I really enjoy working with Paul Brown and TJ Resnic, I have a very good relationship with both of them and we always get fantastic results.

Some great Photographers mentioned there, from what I have seen from you and these photographers I believe that you will go far as a model.

So Vikki, are there any photographers that you would really like to work with in the future?

There are loads! I’d love to work with Brightonian who is on Purestorm, and also PawPhotography.

What about make up artists or stylists? Do you have any favorites?

Not found a fave one yet!

If you could give any advice to models what would it be?

All my advice is to models is be careful. There are loads of people out there who think they are photographers just because they own a camera. Dont ever be scared to take someone with you, after all your safety is far more important than a disc of images, if that!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Hmm, well I HOPE to be in a big fat mansion with a R8 Spyder hehe! I have no idea where I will be in 5 years, but I would like to be a bit successful, even of it’s just the once!

Have you always wanted to be a model?

I first thought about getting into modelling when I was 19 and still at University. I went to a few test shoots to see if it was for me and I loved being in front of the camera, so have since worked hard and have been booked for shoots within varying aspects of the inductry (glamour / erotica / beauty). I have worked with some amazing people and look forward to working with many more within the future.

How long have you been modeling?

I have been modelling for 6 years part time now.

How did you end up in the modeling industry?

When I was 19 and still at University, I thought about a modelling career, sent some test shots to a couple of agencies and it all went from there really.

Which type of modeling do you prefer doing?

I enjoy both glamour and erotica photography.

Are there any specific models that inspire you?

I love the work of Page 3 models Michelle Marsh and Keeley Hazel, I aspire to be like them.

Is modeling a hobby or a full time occupation?

I am currently modelling part time from a career aspect, however, before my modelling career I never experienced a job that feels more like a hobby and I love that.

Roughly how many shoots have you taken part in to date?

200 or so, maybe a few more.

I have worked with John Tisbury on many occassions and we have got some outstanding work. I also loved working with Ruan from RVDS Photography, Joby Rawlins at Image 1st and Chris Rout, all very polite and lovely people to work with and extremely professional.

Philip Drinkwater, Matt Christie, & Dave Sanderson.

What about Make-up artists… any favourites?

I have worked with Sarah Jane Ellis and Rebecca Flecher on a few occassions in the past, both very talented and lovely girls.

Do you have any advice or tips that you can offer to other models that might help them produce images as stunning as yours?

Just be confident, enjoy being in front of the camera and most of all have fun, that way you will get some outstanding work and enjoy the experience even more.

OK, lastly- where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I would like to being working as a full time professional model, travelling world wide with established and world renound photographers, such as Matt Christie and John Tisbury.
