Republicans had a huge victory in California’s central valley in the state senate to push back on a Democratic super majority

Republican and cherry farmer Andy Vidak won the California Senate’s 16th district against Democrat Leticia Perez of Bakersfield after Senator Michael Rubio resigned his post earlier this year (Shhh…Don’t tell Democrats that he went to work for an oil company).

According to Sacramento Bee:

The Democratic supermajority in the state Senate thinned a bit Tuesday when Republican farmer Andy Vidak captured more than 50 percent of a special election vote to win in a heavily Democratic San Joaquin Valley district.

Vidak had nearly 52 percent of the votes in the low-turnout election early today, with some provisional and mail ballots yet to be counted. His opponent, Democrat Leticia Perez, a Kern County supervisor, conceded shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.

The election was called when Democratic Sen. Michael Rubio unexpectedly resigned early this year to become an executive in Chevron Corp. It was conducted in the 16th Senate District, which no longer exists, because Rubio was elected from that district in 2010. Vidak will have to seek re-election in the new 14th Senate District, which was created by an independent redistricting commission.

Vidak’s victory shaves the Democrats’ margin in the Senate, which had been 29-11, by one seat, but another Democratic senator, Curren Price, is due to resign to take a seat on the Los Angeles City Council. Thus chances have dimmed for the Democratic supermajority to pass a constitutional amendment or a tax increase, both of which would require two-thirds legislative votes.

In sports news, the San Francisco Bay Area is going to host Superbowl L (50) in 2016– good news for the Bay Area.  This Superbowl won’t be the city of San Francisco, but in the new 49er stadium in Santa Clara, CA which is about a half hour drive south.  The city of Santa Clara, CA was able to attract the team with a new stadium to replace the antiquated one within the San Francisco city limits.

BOSTON – As expected, the Super Bowl is officially returning to California.

At their spring meeting on Tuesday, NFL owners awarded Super Bowl L in 2016 to the Bay Area and the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, ending what will be a 13-year drought for the state that has hosted 11 Super Bowls.

The last Super Bowl in California was in January 2003, when Super Bowl XXXVII was played in San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.

It’s the second Bay Area Super Bowl, coming after Super Bowl XIX at Stanford.

The owners also awarded Super Bowl LI (2017) to Houston’s Reliant Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

The Department of Justice weighs chasing down press record leaks and overstepping their bounds by not notifying the press they were seizing their records.

The scope of the IRS scandal seems to be expanding as more than just the Ohio offices are being implicated. Further, more and more groups are coming forward with to talk to investigators about inappropriate questions that were asked.

The courts found abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell guilty of murdering 3 babies born alive after botched abortion attempts.  Gosnell was found guilty of snipping the spinal cord of 3 babies clinging to life and born alive.  The actions of Gosnell makes me sick to my stomach and can’t even imagine how anyone could murder a baby.  May God have mercy on your soul.

According to ABC News:

Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell agreed today to serve two life sentences and waive his right to an appeal in order to avoid the possibility of being condemned to death.

Gosnell was convicted of first degree murder on Monday in the deaths of three babies who were born live and then killed by severing their spinal chords with scissors.

As part of the deal, Gosnell, 72, will serve two life sentences without the possibility of parole or the opportunity to appeal.

The Obama administration messed with a 3rd rail in this country, the “Main Stream Media”, when it went after it seized phone records from the Associated Press claiming the records were necessary for national security reasons. The main stream media has been one the largest advocates of the the Obama administration, but is starting to rescind some of that support, especially as the records were taken unbeknownst to the AP.

Between the Benghazi and IRS scandals, the Obama administration appointees have a lot of explaining to do.

The IRS is in hot water as top officials have now said (contrary to past testimony) that they were targeting conservative groups that had the words “Tea Party” or “Patriot” in the name for enhanced scrutiny when applying for tax exempt status. The IRS is suppose to be non partisan and no group should be targeted for any reason.

This is ridiculous and needs to be resolved.
