<p>&#65279;HVCA’s Ductwork Group (DWG) has thrown its support behind an initiative to tackle wasteful ‘information overload’ in the tendering process. The campaign was begun by the Association of Ductwork Contractors &amp; Allied Services (ADCAS). Speaking at a ductwork industry conference ‘Working together’ organised by the two organisations, ADCAS president Malcolm Moss reasserted, ‘The practice of dumping information has been around for a while, but is now escalating out of all proportion.</p></p>

<p>&#65279;HFCs as refrigerants could eventually be superseded, according to a position paper on the future use of refrigerants containing HFCs developed by the refrigeration and air-conditioning group of the Heating &amp; Ventilating Contractor’s Association and endorsed by the HVCA council. However, concern is expressed about phasing out these substances too early.</p></p>

<p>&#65279;The scope of the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly the Carbon Reduction Commitment) has been broadened to take into account improvements in energy efficiency and the use of onsite renewable energy such as wind turbines and solar panels. The changes to the scheme follow extensive consultation with businesses and trade bodies. Large energy users in business and the public sector will be required to take part in the scheme from 1 April 2010.</p></p>

Marks were awarded for the ability of candidates to complete the installation to an international competition standard, with due consideration for health and safety and the environment.</p></p>
