The holidays are a time to snuggle up with your favorite book, sip on warm drinks, and
adorn yourself with sparkly treasures. When I think of fall fashion, and holiday parties I
immediately think of silver and gold sparkles. You can’t go wrong with layering silver
sparkles with your favorite black dress for that special holiday soiree.

I’ve said it before and ill say it again, tall boots are the way to go this season! They have
graced the cover of just about every magazine, and are the most popular trend for the
holidays. You can easily pair them with jeans, a skirt and tights, a long top and tights, or
simply your fav holiday dress! Find a pair that’s comfortable and has a low heel. They
will be your staples piece this season!

I’m a realist and I know that no matter how hard I try to keep those few “holiday pounds”
from finding their way to my hips, its just gonna happen! I’ll embrace the holidays
and instead opt for styles that work well if the unavoidable happens. Long shirts and
ponchos are on the top of the list. You might think ponchos? I have one in the closet that
I haven’t worn since the 60’s. Well, its time to dust her off and have a debut moment!
Ponchos cover all the necessary areas, are amazingly comfortable and make the perfect
piece to slip on with just about anything for a day of shopping, or family time. Not to
mention you will be up on one of the most fun trends for holiday!

Here’s our favorite poncho for the season, featured with a sparkly pair of silver and

Looking for the perfect gift to give? We have a few suggestions. I tend to think that
clothing is really hard to buy and give as a gift. Instead opt for a sweet pair of earring or
a statement necklace that is in the same style family that she normally wears. Pair that up
with a special note and you will be set!

Holidays are also a time to remember those around us that are less fortunate. If you
have the time or ability please make sure you volunteer your time at the local food
bank, homeless shelter, or animal shelter. Remember the holidays are a time for love
and sharing, so from my family to yours…We wish you love and laughter this holiday
season!

Our Littlest Helper

It was time for our Fall Photo Shoot, and we were buzzing around getting horses coordinated, models lined up, clothing pulled, jewelry collections together.....Ahhh! We decided to shoot at a location that was an hour drive out to the middle of nowhere. Run down trucks, wide open spaces, blue skies, and horses...what more could we ask for? So 6 of us piled into my trusty SUV and hit the road.

When we arrived we were greeted by the world's cutest helper! Rome Johnson to be exact. He is 5, and his mom (who supplied our horses for the shoot) told him that some pretty girls were stopping by and he would be helping. He politely took his hat off and introduced himself to everyone of us. Shaking our hand, and showing us around our soon to be set. With a Capri Sun in hand, Rome was our #1 helper. He shot images of the girls, he rode his horse, he sucked down multiple capri suns, and he made sure his best friend (his dog) was close at hand. Here are a few pics of our favorite little man. Thank you kind sir!

Behind the Scenes of our Latest Photo Shoot

Bright and early this morning I did another mini shoot for Modern Cowgirl. The "mini shoot" has become my new obsession and we are scheduling them every 3-4 weeks. So this morning at 7am, with Starbucks in hand, we set out along the river to shoot our Turquoise Summer look. My vision for this shoot was to layer on some of our favorite turquoise vintage pieces with some fun base metal designs and adorn our new lace dress. Add in a couple tree climbing sessions, a paper umbrella, and the mother of all ant hills, viola! The shoot was perfect. Took us just under an hour and we were ready to start the rest of our day by 8:30 am.... Here are a couple of "in between" shots.

There's Something About Vintage That Never Gets Old

Whether its awesome retro jewelry, or a funky piece of furniture, we love anything and everything vintage! There are so many reasons why vintage is awesome. We love the thrill of the hunt. Searching through flea markets and thrift stores is half the fun! Its such a great feeling when you find that perfect item to take home with you.

Mike Kelly Has Heart

Mike Kelly is lucky to be alive, much less living out his dream of touring and performing. When he found out that he needed emergency surgery to have two heart valves replaced, the news was shocking, to say the least. The result of his ordeal is a new lease on life and an incredible album titled "Wake the Dead".

We met Mike when he was performing in Albuquerque. We are so excited that he loves our Republic of the Soul men's line! "Their shirts are so comfortable and the musical designs are right up my alley." says Kelly.

I have kept a journal since I was a little girl. It has always been my special place where I can express myself and what I'm feeling without judgement. Writing in a journal is a great way to get perspective, clear your head, de-stress, and regain focus. Its a private place where you can be uniquely you!

There's no right or wrong way to keep a journal. You can write in it every day, once a week, once a month, or just whenever you feel like you need some "you" time. Its even a great place for keepsakes. Pressed between the pages of my journal, I have pictures, ticket stubs, flowers, or any little treasure that reminds me of a special moment in my life. Its great to look back on those times and remember how I was feeling and see how I've changed and grown over the years.
