That definitely couldn't have been MS-DOS. Look carefully at the screen and you'll see the dates are in 1979. And the drive is an 8" floppy -- you could almost fit a standard magazine page into it, though it probably wouldn't work after that.

Seems, that MM got the name wrong. That's actually Ascot-Pullin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascot-Pullin_Motorcycles Here's a short description of it and other Brittish manufacturers: http://www.ianchadwick.com/motorcycles/britbikes/ And a nice colour picture: http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/Bike%20Directories/OthersAtoC/pages/Ascot%20Pullin.htm Seems that it was quite advanced for it's time, but the sales didin't catch on.

I think that's CP/M not DOS. Development of MS-DOS didn't begin begin until 1981 after Microsoft bought the exclusive rights to Q-DOS. My college computer class had all brand new Heath H89's running CP/M and the picture in the ad reminds me of those Heath computers.

Tracy B: I was going to compare that thing to Spruce Goose :-) Some real monsters of that time were Dornier Do X and Kalinin K-7, that actually flew (or crashed on first flight, in the case of K-7...), but they have only about half of the wingspan of the Rumpler design. I tried to find some examples of engine power, but that ~600hp is good approximation. Then again, the engine development was quite rapid, and eg. 1933 Hispano-Suiza 12Y developed 760 hp. And a quick quiz: What was the displacement and hp (and other fun facts) of the most? powerful radial engine? Hints, It's a russian, and it was used in boat.

If you can follow this link to "Border Radio" on google books, you'll find a pretty detailed account of Rose Dawn and her life as an astrologer/psychic on an early radio show. I hate to burst the bubble of like minded knowledge seekers, but it looks as if Firebrand is correct in that The Mayan Order in San Antonio was founded by 2 radio show hucksters. It has been an interesting search and I do hope that Mary Gribble will post again and shed more light on how she came up with the material for the Mayan Monographs.

You call that engine of the that era huge? I believe the max power you could get out of the engines of that time period was only 600 Hp. Only 82 mph in cruise too; today's basic cessnas would run circles around it. Just wait until the Spruce Goose was built.

Mary (Gribble), I was both happy and sad to read your post today. Happy because it sounds rather plausible and perhaps ends my investigation. Sad because it was not the insight I expected when I began searching the web for "The Mayans". I recently found a pile of The Mayan Monographs (in my deceased father's belongings) and was very intrigued by the "lessons". Although, I am a career Army Officer, I am drawn to many things that purport teachings of higher knowledge. I, too, am a Christian and was especially captivated with the fact that the lessons intertwined scripture with esoteric knowledge. Before I came upon your post today, I had researched several items in the lessons and found corraborating information and it "rings true" to me after decades of self-study. This leads me to wonder how you and Verde had access to so many esoteric writings/concepts as a twenty-something without access to the search capabilities of the Internet. By the way, I, too, have connections to San Antonio having graduated from the University of Texas. So, I hope you respond back and provide some further insight on your sources for The Mayan monographs. Ginger

Mary (Gribble), I was both happy and sad to read your post today. Happy because it sounds rather plausible and perhaps ends my investigation. Sad because it was not the insight I expected when I began searching the web for “The Mayans”. I recently found a pile of The Mayan Monographs (in my deceased father’s belongings) and was very intrigued by the “lessons”. Although, I am a career Army Officer, I am drawn to many things that purport teachings of higher knowledge. I, too, am a Christian and was especially captivated with the fact that the lessons intertwined scripture with esoteric knowledge. Before I came upon your post today, I had researched several items in the lessons and found corraborating information and it “rings true” to me after decades of self-study. Ginger
