Modern Vintage Market shows up in Home Makeovers

We love receiving emails from our wonderful customers especially when they send us home makeover pictures with our products. We were featured recently in Amandas' DIY blog called the "HOME chic HOUSE" where they updated their Powder Room and used our tea towels as guest towels. We have been doing the same thing in our house for awhile now, one because we have a lot of extras and two because they are too pretty to not use everywhere.

Hello all! We are so excited to share another room that's near completion! Our powder room is located right near the front door and across from our kitchen, because it's one of the first things you come across when you walk in, and is going to be used by most people who come over, we wanted to love it. The walls when we moved in we're a little beat up, the vanity was bad 80's laminate and the sink had seen better days - so out it went! We got to work fixing and painting the walls, then replacing the vanity. The countertop was actually a small remnant we found in a pile outside the shop we ordered our kitchen countertops from. If you're doing over smaller vanities that is definitely the best way to go, you can get a great quality stone for pretty cheap!

With the new vanity, counter top and sink in we realized it was a little blah. What better way to add some "wow" than with great backsplash? We picked up some inexpensive sheets from Home Depot and got to work.

Then we grabbed a frame from Ikea, it was the perfect size and simple style we were looking for the mirror to have.

We added a hand towel ring so guests would have a way to dry their hands. We also did a little silver leafing project to create the W & C (water closet), they gave that awkward wall a purpose!

We LOVE the sink in this space. It's the smaller, square version of our two upstairs sinks and it was super affordable! (Our Powder Room Sink )

We originally ordered this adorable hand towel for the kitchen but since we got three for $27 (such a steal) we put one in the powder room too. We found them on Etsy, you can choose your letter, and colors - so awesome! Order some for your house >> HERE

One of my favorite bloggers has a new venue....Marian of Miss Mustard Seed had a vision {another of many successful ones}. Her leap of faith ? A line of milk paints in her favorite colors. Anyone familiar with her blog knows how talented she is with her re-purposed furniture.

Her bio: Mustard Seed Interiors LLC is a small business that was born out of a 
love for antiques, decorating on a budget, and giving old pieces of 
furniture new life. While the primary focus of the retail business is 
painted and refinished furniture, MSI also carries upholstered pieces, 
found objects, vintage-inspired painted signs and handmade accessories 
for the home.  All of these products are currently available for sale on
 the first floor in The Old Lucketts Store in Leesburg, VA.

AND: a freelance writer for HGTV.com and a contributor to Cottages and Bungalows magazine (DIY Essentials Column.

I'm sure you've seen her work she's been featured in:

.....she writes inspiring and healing books for women. I read a sample (1st chapter free HERE ) of her book called GRACE FOR THE GOOD GIRL

I HOPE you are moved by this first chapter and it effects you like it did me and you go out and buy several copies too and you pin it on PINTEREST also and I really hope you spread this to as many women that you love dearly ....because I think we all need this!!!

Double Take

While enjoying my coffee this morning I headed over to one of my favorite blogs, Design Dump by Autumn Clemons. I try to make my blog rounds regularly.....but In an older post of hers I spotted it and did a Double Take. There it was the {almost}twin to my Free Updated Dresser {Here}. She did hers in white ....I had the hardest time deciding between Grey or White and even though now I see them side by side I'm thinking......that it might go White later. I love this dresser and can't wait to see where it evolves to. {the furniture in our home rotates with out warning}

I Love the fact that everything she does is on a budget and loaded with creativity! The best part of this fort/hideaway {no trees needed} Our newish backyard {8yrs old} can barley hold a bird house, so this is Perfect.

Family-Friendly English Country House

Su Harr wasn’t particularly daunted when she first walked through the 1840s Georgian-style Sussex house that she and her family now call home. Though scaffolding appeared to be holding up several walls and the basement ceiling was all but collapsing, Su saw potential in the rambling yet classic home.

With three children (Dominique, 24; Mackenzie, 10; and Mungo, 8), Su’s 
first priority was to convert the house from a formal English country 
house to a family-friendly home.

Almost storybook, in fact. A child’s imagination is given free rein here. Outdoors, the children have 2 1/2 acres of gardens to roam. Roses and wisteria flourish. A pool offers respite from the (occasional) English sun. There’s even a “Children’s Wood” that’s worthy of enchanted-forest status.
