Congratulations to Sorchea & Luke on their beautiful and natural wedding, photographed by Kevin Foley. The wedding was held on the family’s land and this environmentally conscious couple wanted their wedding to be as eco-friendly as possible. They decorated the table with natural elements like banana leaf place mats, river rocks, and bear grass and sand centerpieces. Even the arbor that they got married under was constructed by the groom’s brother from green bamboo growing on their property. Everything was recyclable including the bamboo plates and glassware.

After the ceremony they planted a tree on the property to symbolize their new beginning and how they will grow together.

This couple has a truly inspiring story. The groom is a canoe paddler and not even a year before their engagement Luke suffered severe injuries while paddling between the islands. He had a miraculous recovery and this amazing couple realized how much they loved each other during his healing process.  Once he recovered they were ready to marry, and in commemoration they decided to use a paddle as a guestbook. Theirs is a truly touching story! Congrats again to Sokchea & Luke on their beautiful Hawaiian wedding!

Lauren & Kyle’s REEL wedding is absolutely beautiful and artfully captured on film by Ambiance Hawaii. We love the vibrant pops of color and the wonderful ocean estate setting. We heard this from the videographer:

“Their love grew while Kyle served in the armed forces in Afghanistan and Lauren stayed in California teaching inner-city youth. The military took Kyle to Guam and Lauren followed leaving friends and family thousands of miles away. An intimate destination wedding in Hawaii was the perfect setting for their celebration.”

What a beautiful and unique engagement shoot by Dave Miyamoto! We are absolutely in love with camera and pinwheel props. The underwater shots are absolutely stunning and so perfect to do in Hawaii. We heard this from the photographer: “John is also a professional photographer so I was really excited to capture these images for them. And they were really excited about my idea. I wanted to do something fun such as having them ride a bike in the back roads of Waimanalo, something romantic and interactive up in the hills of Tantalus park, and something dramatic underwater with fishes and turtles at Makaha beach. This type of shoot is one of my favorites because it makes me smile when couples are excited to try different and daring shots.”

We love this rustic elopement on Kauai, photographed beautifully by Sea Light Studios, and can you believe it – this lovely couple flew all the way from Russia! We heard this from the photographer:

“The Princeville Ranch is one of those amazing wedding locations, found on the north shore of Kauai.  Evgeny & Tatitana are originally from Russia and have delightful personalities and accents.  Since they decided to elope here on Kauai, it was just the two of them. They approached us with this awesome idea of using horses for their fine art wedding portrait session. When you add  any animal into the mix things get a lot more ‘complex’, but especially with two 1000 pound horses. To our surprise the horses were amazingly well behaved and truly just wanted to graze the delicious grass.  They pretty much would do anything we wanted as long as they could continue munching… lol. Eileen, from the Princeville Ranch Adventures, was with us behind the scenes to insure everyones safety and to guide the couple on how to properly handle these magnificent animals.”

We absolutely adore this unique engagement shoot from Tie the Knot Images!

How they met: With both of them from Kaua’i, they were acquaintances and she hung out with all of his friends. It wasn’t until after college that they became a couple. Lachelle was a former Miss Kaua’i and Mark was on the mainland playing minor league baseball. When he returned, they started dating.

The proposal: He proposed to her in November 2011 after hiking the mountain near her home. Her father had planted a bamboo patch over 20 years ago near the home and when they finally got to it, he made her close her eyes. When she opened them he had carved ‘Will you marry me?’ in the bamboo.

Of course she said yes!

Their wedding is set for September 2012 at the Kaua’i Botanical Garden’s Meadow.
