Frixion Mods

Found some Frixion highlighters in some small and old stationery store at somewhere about two days ago... Probably some old stock left because I hardly able to see the highlighter version for quite long time. Has been modding it since yesterday, the original version is nice to spin but I don't have enough dr grips(had to borrow from dr.rsvp) so I'll have to mod it this way.

The barrels are thicker than usual mods but they spin nicely, and if you like thicker barrel.

Saturn Mod Tutorial

Credit to Saturn(from KPSA; thanks to Vikroal for this info) for creating this mod. I could not find the official tutorial. (If anyone know, please tell me so I can update this post.) I mod this pen based on the pictures of Saturn mod I've seen. It looks simple so I guess my modification should be pretty close to original.

The Making

1) Remove the inktube of PC2 and cut the whole tip of the small arrow side. Do the same for another PC2. You only need one PC2 backplug so remove either one.

2) Join the barrel together with the big arrow pointing at each other.

3) Now cut one Airfit grip into half and add to both sides. Put on the Airfit tips and the mod is basically done! Optional, you can add the metal rings from Airfits.

The weight and momentum is same as Ivan mod but this mod has a different feel due to the PC2 barrel is harder than ST and the PC2 barrel texture feels good too. Most importantly, there are many colour choices for PC2. ^^

NzDC Mod Tutorial (Redo)

NzDC is created by Nz from THPSC. This mod is really easy to mod. NzDC has same structure as Buster CYL except it uses different tip and grip. It's could be a nice sub for those who can't get Zebra Airfit because Pilot Nextage is more commonly seen.
The original tutorial is pretty straight forward with the pictures even if you can't read Thai because it's so simple to mod, but I just have the thought of redoing the tutorial with clearer pictures. =)

The Making

Quick summary of the making: (You can skip the tutorial if you can understand this.) The barrel and caps are just like modding a Buster CYL except using different grips and tips.

1) Gather all the necessary parts.

2) Slide the 6mm white grips onto the comssa caps.
3) Screw the Nextage tips on the comssa caps. (Optional: you may file the sharp tips)
4) Push the Nextage grips onto the comssa caps. (a drop of water helps a lot!)

5) Insert the backplug into Supertip barrel. You need to wrap some tape for it to stay on the barrel securely.
6) Wrap some tape on the tip of Supertip and backplug to hold the caps firmly.
7) If you like, you can add tape cut design like Nz or outsert.

Just put on the caps and your NzDC is done! :D

A picture with tape cut design will be added later because now I haven't thought of what tape cut design I want. :P

Q: Can I use [...] tips? / What tip can I use?
A: Yes, you can use ANY tip. For example, you can use Pilot G-3 tips, for heavier you may use Uniball Signo metal tips, for even heavier try Pilot Nextage tips.

Q: Can I use [...] grips?
A: Yes, you can use ANY grip.

Q: I don't have nail polish remover, what else can I use?
A: Acetone if you can get, or Thinner. Otherwise, just get a cheap nail polish remover for RM2~4.

Q: Where to get nail polish remover?
A: Anywhere that could possibly sell it, especially stores that sell girls stuff like nail polish. Ask your mum or sis or gf. =P

Checker Style Insert Set For RSVP MX

I made these yesterday for the RSVP MX. Some of the light colours might looks too light to some people but I made them that way. If you want it darker or lighter, you can download it and use any graphic editing software to adjust the brightness/contrast.

How to put insert into pen barrel:
1) Print your desired insert on regular A4 paper. (Preferably the paper is not too thick, standard 70-80gsm A4 paper is fine.)
2) Cut out the insert.
3) Use a gel inktube and roll up the insert with it and put into pen barrel.

BiC GL2 VS Spoko Mini

Spoko Mini is the pen that can only be found in Poland and France and maybe other European countries too. That means, Malaysia doesn't have it! US and Asian countries don't have it too. sosad... T^T

In recent two months, I finally found BiC GL2 which looks very similar to Spoko Mini in Happy Mart and Tesco. (First time saw it was in kcman's facebook album) I'll be comparing just the grips of GL2 and Spoko Mini. So you can see in the following picture, the top one is Spoko Mini and the bottom one is GL2.

Colours available For The Grip:

Spoko Mini: Blue, Light Green, Orange, Black, Skyblue(discontinued), Yellow(discontinued)

BiC GL2: Blue, Red, Black

#1: Length

The length of both grips are identical.

#2: Thickness

At first glance, both grips look like very much like identical but if you look more carefully, Spoko grip is slightly thicker.

#3: Weight

The weight is light, I don't have electronic scale to measure accurately and the pointer of my mum's conventional household scale(the spring one) hardly show any movement. -_-' So I just hold them in hand and try to feel the weight. It seems both are almost the same weight or maybe the GL2 grip is very slightly heavier/more momentum. Anyway, if you use them in mods, the difference should be unnoticeable. =)

#4: Softness/Flexibility

Okay, this feature is the biggest difference between GL2 and Spoko grips. Due to different production, GL2 grip is much harder and less flexible and Spoko grip is pretty soft. =w=

#5: Texture/Feeling of the surface

GL2 grip has a smooth feel and Spoko grip has a more grippy feel.

In conclusion, for smooth feel / economic accessibility, BiC GL2 grip is your choice. For barrel thicker than the grip inner diameter / grippy feel / unusual colours, Spoko Mini grip is a better choice. Both grips can be used for grip cut design, GL2 grip might be easier to do grip cut due to it is less stretchy. However, it will have more noticeable scar in case the grip cut didn't go well.

Nautilus Mod Tutorial (English Version)

This tutorial is being translated based on original tutorial in PSH. Some sentences structures have been edited as well as some terms have been replaced for better understanding, in my opinion. xP I hope english readers can understand the tutorial. o.O' I don't quite get some of the physic terms in chinese so they were translated based on guessing (it's difficult to check with dictionary too). I'm not good in english language, so feel free to leave comments and suggestions about the mods and my translation too so i can improve my english. =)

Introduction: Black body, double capped, rod, leftover materials... Although it looks unremarkable, it seems like fate. After billions of years, suffering again and again, testing this fragile yet resolute being. However, it endured and evolved into a weapon that resist nature. It is called...

the Nautilus (鹦鹉螺) mod by BurningFinger.

This mod was evolved from my CT-153 mod, also called CT-153E mod. In fact, it is a redo version with my experiences after a year, i just changed its name to a more appropriate one.

The following is the structural decomposition diagram.

The making process may be relatively long so need some patience and being conscientious. The data and experience were gained from several times of trial and error by me, especially certain cuttings, so every step needs to be precise in order to do this mod properly.

No more nonsense, here is the main text:

The idea of the design: Protecting the tips and material utilisation without forgoing the feel of spinning.

Materials:

2x Pentel Color Twin (CT) OR 1x Pentel Color Twin + 1 extra CT small cap
2x Pilot Dr.Grip
2x Uni-ball Signo Broad
1x Pentel Color Twin (CT) small cap (if you want to get only 1x Pentel Color Twin)
1x Sailor Gel grip (4 lines; not shown)

Tools:

Forceps
Pin (or anything thin and sharp)
Electrical tape
Pliers (mainly used to disassemble CT, and when need to redo)
Knife
Lighter (to heat the knife) (Optional)
Ink tube (Any, or may use Signo Board ink tube, just used as a tool) (or any long stick that can goes into CT barrel)
Ruler

Optional:
Sandpaper (Not needed if have good cutting skill but it is recommended that you use)
Superglue (Not recommended but will be mentioned later)
Hot glue (Read Q&A)

Length: 20.5cm(without tips) - 22cm(with tips)
Weight: Similar to CK mod (Waterfall mod=14.5g < Nautilus mod=16g < Buster CYL=18.5g)

Difficulty: Relatively high (in my opinion... failed a few times, broke a lot of things, but it's very challenging and has a great sense of accomplishment after completion. hehe)

Test:

Description:
1. In the test, no parts are damaged, tips are undamaged. Height was an estimation, vertical release by hand.
2. This main function of this mod is to reduce shock and protect the tips. However it is unable to remain undamaged if received too large of external force.

*Of course, the mod solidness varies from person to person. The mod that I used in test was being disassembled for many times, therefore the structure is somewhat loose, the actual solidness based on the idea is much better. This tutorial introduced the worst approach for solidness, but will mention ways to improve solidness and allow the mod to withstand greater impact.

Tutorial:

0) Gather the materials.

1) Disassemble Dr Grip as shown.

2) Use hot knife method (use lighter to heat the knife till it's very hot) and cut around the Dr Grip barrel to get the spring and inner plastic barrel. (May use stick to poke out the inner plastic barrel but it may break easily, need to use it later)(Just poke it out with thin stick is fine, none of mine breaks) Then cut the mp tube at around 15-30° at center as shown in the following picture, and wrap with 3-4 layers of electrical tape that is 3-4mm wide.
(P.S.: The number of Dr mp tubes used does not matter, I only used one because i want to save another for other mod. Cutting the mp tube longer is better for later step. May use two mp tubes and cut them longer.)

Note: Electrical tape must be wrapped tightly. If use longer Dr mp tubes as axle, the tape can be wrapped wider so it will be more stable.

3) Measure from the end of Dr Grip inner plastic barrel and cut at the points at 0.8cm and 1.1cm respectively, into 3 pieces as shown in picture. The last two pieces are 0.3cm and 0.8cm. Then wrap a little more than one layer (not too much) of electrical tape around the 0.3cm piece.

4) Disassemble Signo Board as shown.

5) Cut the Signo Broad caps into 5.2cm long (that is cut at the indent line of cap), may add about 4mm wide electrical tape at both end for decoration. Then take out the little rubber piece from Signo Broad cap head with forceps.

6) Use the pin to make a little hole on the little rubber piece, then use forceps to extend the hole a little more. (the size of the hole must not bigger than the mp tube outer diameter, just a little is enough.)

7) Put the mp tube through the little rubber piece, the flat side of the rubber piece should stick to the electrical tape and the dented side should face out. (See note)

Note: Strongly recommended that after this step, the little rubber piece is done according to the shape shown in the picture, otherwise the bumper effect may be reduced.

8)
a. Disassemble CT and take note of the sections shown in picture that need to be cut, filed and wrapped with tapes (both ends of CT where wrapped with tapes are being filed before wrapping the tapes). Then use the forceps to slightly extend the hole of the CT plastic tips where mp tubes go through. (objective is to allow the mp tubes to retract freely)
b. Cut the 4 lines of Sailer Gel grip into 2 lines each.

9)
a. Measure 0.7cm from the end of the small CT caps and cut around as shown in picture (do not use hot knife method), then wrap with 0.6cm wide electrical tapes for 5-6 layers.
b. Make a small hole at the small CT caps (may do this with pin+forceps or scissors with sharp end), note that the hole should be slightly smaller than the outer diameter of mp tube. (to hold the mp tube firmly later)

10) File the 4 little bumps inside the small caps and tuck in the Signo tip.

11) Now you should have these, please check.

Part 2: Assembling Parts

12) Push the 3mm plastic piece which wrapped with electrical tape into CT barrel, make sure it is fixed.

13) Assemble the parts as shown in picture.

14) Assemble the parts as shown in picture, tuck the 8mm plastic piece into CT tip and insert the mp tube.

15) Put together the parts from step (13) and (14).

Note: This step is very, very difficult, certainly beyond imagination! The outcome of this step affects the solidness of the whole mod. It will be very tight, but better do it successfully at first try. In case failed, repeated insertions may expand the hole on the small cap causing the structure loosened and reduce the reverse bumper effect, and it will be very tight at first try (= =), very difficult to grasp the right force. When completed, the side view should show the tip being pushed in as seen in the picture, so it will achieve optimum reverse bumper effect. The depth is about 4-5mm.

16) The other side shall use the same approach as in step (15).

Note: This step may be even more difficult than last step because you need the ink tube(or stick) to push the axle, must be very careful. If unable to insert accurately, may use double plugs structure but will consume an extra CT tip. In this way, a little bit of superglue may be applied at where the extra plug will be inserted. However, if do exactly according to tutorial, please do not apply any superglue because it will be difficult to repair once broken!

Advice: Don't give up! If found the structure isn't solid and need to redo, 2-3 times will not affect the overall solidness much. As long as it isn't showing any obvious sign of the axle tube able to insert easily, it will be fine. If this step is done, the mod will soon done!

17) Stuff the SG grips at both ends. The SG grip must be stuffed neatly. May do it with forceps if needed.

18) Insert both ends and complete the mod.

(P.S.: If the CT tip isn't black so the joint doesn't look nice, adding a layer of 2mm wide electrical tape is a not bad idea.)

Congratulations, you've finally come this far. I believe it has been hard, but to ensure the mod's solidness, it is recommended that you do the following experiment: hold one end of the mod vertically, then let go the mod and allow it to fall on marble floor(concrete/stone floor is fine x]), for 3 times, for both ends will add up to 6 times, then check if the mod got any parts loosened. If yes, check back Part 2 for any problems and take corresponding measures. If no problem, then you can be proud that you have done a Nautilus mod!

Q&A

1. This mod has a fine structure, will it able to withstand falling again and again?

A: It was hard during the test, standing on chair to drop the mod to floor again and again... until the mod has become like - please see last picture in the tutorial. That was the result of being disassembled for more than 10 times and fell more than 20 times.

Although it has a fine structure, but due to the design, it will be able to withstand a lot of falling. No matter how i say, you will know when you actually have one.

2. The edge of Signo Broad cap looks like will break easily, is it?

A: Due to having the spring and axle, each time it falls and the cap was bended, it will automatically straighten the cap. This is why there is no particular requirement for the electrical tapes on both CT tips as long as it will hold the Signo Broad caps. However, there is solution to this, cyshing applied hot glue to the joint between CT tips and Signo Broad caps, which is better. (yeah, xD it doesn't affect disassembling/repairing, and to protect the edge of the signo broad caps, cover them with soft grips might be a good idea too.)

3. The shock absorption doesn't look so excellent because the bumper length(the space?) isn't long enough.

A: For this mod, bumper system is a function and tip protection is the objective. When a mod is spun for long, the tips are usually the first to be damaged, so a simple bumper system is indeed not good enough. Of course, if you want to make a powerful bumper system, you may use this for reference. Another solution would be not exposing the tips.

4. How to remove the clip of Signo Broad cap?

A: Place a metal ruler or forceps between the clip and cap, then press the metal ruler on the table with one hand and pull the cap with another hand. (I just poke it with chopstick after removing the little rubber piece)

5. What use for the axle? Can't just use SG grips to jam? Why need to use the little rubber piece in Signo Broad cap?

A: The first version of this mod has no axle. Both ends was jammed with grips that have larger friction. Later, a few changes made after the test which shown in the beginning of the tutorial and came out with this official version.

Now i call this double bumpers structure. The primary structure uses the mp tube axle as core, spring as front bumper the little rubber piece as reverse bumper (absorb the momentum from the other end when landing on the floor). The design takes the stress analysis when landing(not discussing this in depth, mainly it's about the whatever dynamics) into consideration and maximise the solidness and stability of the mod structure as much as possible by utilising limited materials. The real function of the SG grips are to prevent the bumper system to shake in non contact condition (if contacted, the effect of that little shake may be ignored compared to the effect of elastic force received). (i don't really get the last sentence but the SG grips do help to prevent the small CT caps rattling)

Comparing China Dr TIP #2 & Japanese Dr TIP

Introduction
China Dr TIP #2 is a failed replica by a PSH spinner - thediy. Originally, thediy meant to produce a quality replica of the popular yet expensive Japanese Dr TIP in China, but the plating technology of the manufacturer hired by thediy failed to meet expectation and thus, the unfinished replica failed to shine like original Japanese Dr TIP. The failed China Dr TIP is still usable because it has identical shape,size and weight. It is sold at less than half the price of Japanese Dr TIP in China. So, i call it China Dr TIP #2 (lazy to type China Dr TIP 2nd Grade Replica each time -_-' ).

I am writing this article about the comparison between China Dr TIP #2 and Japanese Dr TIP as a collection of data as well as providing some points to those who are considering whether or not to "accept" this China Dr TIP #2 in their spinning mods.

Comparison
There are three visible differences between China Dr TIP #2 and Japanese Dr TIP.

**LEFT: China Dr TIP #2 ; RIGHT: Japanese Dr TIP**

Difference #1: China Dr TIP #2 is not as shiny as Japanese Dr TIP.

Due to the failure in finishing plating, the China Dr TIP #2 does not have a chrome surface like Japanese Dr TIP.

Difference #2: The lead hole of China Dr TIP #2 is smaller and not usable.

It is for THE appearance only. No usable for retractable Minwoo Mod.

Difference #3: China Dr TIP #2 has no threaded hole.

It is made solely for modding purpose and for mods that don't need the threaded hole such as Dr.KT and Minwoo Mod (No usable for retractable Minwoo Mod.though).

However, these visible differences are not noticeable when spinning in video.

My conclusion is, depend on your location and compare the means and costs to get China Dr TIP #2 and Japanese Dr TIP, if the China Dr TIP #2 is a significantly cheaper choice and you are not so particular about the appearance of the tip for spinning uses (may still change to Japanese Dr TIP for photo shooting), then go ahead and get China Dr TIP #2. If the costs to get China Dr TIP #2 is not significantly cheaper and easier than getting the Japanese Dr TIP, then there is no need for you to consider getting a China Dr TIP #2 at all (unless you want to get one to look, touch, feel and test it for yourself).

Icy Fox DC Tutorial

Icy Fox DC is created by IcY Fox. I tried it at gathering, it is nice to spin if you don't mind or prefer thin barrel (thickness is about 7.5mm, slightly thicker than Bic Round Stic barrel.) Icy Fox asked me to help make a tutorial for Icy Fox DC since i was going to mod one, so here is it! Sorry if the tutorial is a bit messy or confusing because it was my first time modding Icy Fox DC so the flow of modification was not pre-determined. I will update the tutorial with more detailed explanation/video when i mod second one. =D

The Making

STEP 1 - Processing the materials

Remove the inner and outer mechanism of Twistable Color Pencil. Front tip can be removed easily but to remove the back and inner twistable mechanism, you need to snap the back mechanism.

*Cautious! When you snap it, it may break into very small sharp pieces and "fly" around hitting your eyes/face or drop on floor. So do it at your own risk and be careful.

Cut the Airfit grip into half.

Now you have the materials ready to assemble.

STEP 2

Put on the Airfit grips on the TwinArt caps. (I know it's hard, but just try push harder.)

STEP 3

Put the Grip Matic tip on the cap and G1 tip in the cap. If the G1 tip rattled inside the cap, add small piece of tape around the G1 tip before push in.

STEP 4

Repeat Step 2 and 3 on the other cap. Now you have the caps ready and put on the barrel to finish the mod.

One side of the barrel is much harder to put on the cap but you should be able push it in at least until somewhere like in the picture shown below(about 6-7mm depth) to keep the cap stay securely on the barrel.

Alternately, you can file/sand the thicker end of the barrel a bit so the cap can be put on easier.

Finished mod.

You can customise it as you like. =)

SPRiNGFiELD Mod Replica Tutorial

This mod is an imitation of SPRiNGFiELD Mod to get the spinning effect of the mod. And for SPRiNGFiELD's fans? =P

Here are what you need to know(and stop asking), SPRiNGFiELD never want to tell the all the secrets(as in what materials) or the hidden parts (which we can't see just from photo), so i used other materials to sub to make it looks very similar to the real mod, while trying to make sure the materials used are easily found in Malaysia. (well, or at least not that hard to find)

P.S.: This replica is made based on my experience of spinning a Springfield sc mod of my friend that was taught by Springfield uses substitute parts such as the Supertips and G2 grip and the mod is very light. Hence i assume the very original mod weight and feeling should be somewhere similar to this replica.

Materials List

1x Crayola Supertips (body, backplug)
1x Pilot G3 (cap, tip)
1x Pilot G2 (grip)
1x Zebra Jim.meca (grip; it is same as Zebra Hyperjell grip)
1x Buncho Anyball (grip)
1x Bic Round Stic Grip or Bic Round Stic (body; either one is fine)

Basic tools: Art knife, plier, some tapes
Additionally you need a small hand saw otherwise it will be difficult.

The Making

STEP 1

Cut an approximately 2.4cm piece of barrel from the Bic Round Stic Grip body.

STEP 2

Remove the backplug from Supertips. You may remove the inktube and ink tip at the same time, they are not needed. Take the backplug and cut the bump using art knife.

So you will get like this.

Put the backplug back onto Supertips body.

STEP 3

Take the small piece of Bic Round Stic Grip barrel from just now, and put it on the Supertips' tip and use some tape to hold it.

Also wrap some tape at the other end of the small Bic barrel(where tip will be placed later) but must not too much until thicker than G3 tip. It is for better grip shape later.

STEP 4

Take the G3 tip and use tape to hold the tip onto the small Bic barrel. Tip: Do not wrap more than 2 layers of tape. Making it too thick will be difficult to push the grip on.

Take the G2 grip and push it over the G3 tip and small Bic barrel.

STEP 5

Take the G3 cap and remove the clip and remove the bump using small hand saw. Shave it with cutter until the bump is totally gone.

STEP 6

Take the grip from Jim.meca and put it on the backplug. Then put the G3 cap over it and carefully push the cap until it overlap the Supertips body a little.

STEP 7

Cut the back or last 4 segments(1 big 3 small) from Anyball grip.
** Why use the back/last 4 segments of Anyball grip? Because the front, center and back of Anyball grip have different thickness, therefore it will affect the weight and momentum of mod.

STEP 8 Final

Put the 4-segment Anyball grip on the G3 cap. Lastly, put one stripe of tape near the grip (leave a small gap) and another stripe right below the cap, and you're done! =)

** If the mod is well done, both sides should have been very balanced that it feels like double sided mod when you are spinning with eyes closed.

** If you feel the mod is not balanced, you can adjust the amount of tape wrapped under the G2 grip or the placement of the Anyball grip on G3 cap because they may affect the balancing, momentum and/or feel.

(OPTIONAL) Weight Adding Tutorial for SRiNGFiELD Mod Replica

For those who don't mind to turn aside the close-to-original feeling of this replica mod, here is a tutorial on how to add weight to this mod. (Though personally i prefer without adding weight)

Material needed:

1x Metal shaker barrel/tube (inside Dr.Grip Shaker)

1x Pilot G3 (grip)

Tools needed:

(1) Metal Hacksaw (top; hacksaw for woods will not work)

(2) Metal File (bottom; for filing metal)

STEP 1

Saw the metal shaker barrel into half (or smaller piece if you wish) so you get 2 smaller pieces, and use the metal file to file the sharp edge after saw.

STEP 2

Cut the G3 grip(lines part) into two 3-segment pieces.

STEP 3

Take one of the grip pieces and trim it till the length it can be rolled up an put in Bic Round Stic barrel as one layer without overlapping. (i forgot to measure the length so you have to measure and trim it yourself -_-')

STEP 4

Now you got the grip piece for the front and then you need cut another 3-segment grip until the length is roughly a bit longer than the front piece. Precise length is not needed but you don't want the back piece too long that it affects the momentum. =\

STEP 5

Tuck one of the small metal shaker pieces with the front piece grip holds it in the Bic Round Stic barrel.

Do not push too inside though in this step.

Put the G3 tip on and use the G3 tip to push the metal shaker piece inside. This is to position the metal shaker piece at the most end of the pen. And then use tape to hold the tip and put on the G2 grip as in the original tutorial above.

STEP 6

The back part is similar to doing the front part. Use the back piece G3 grip from just now and roll it around the small metal shaker piece and tuck in the Jimmeca grip. Push the back piece grip until it is invisible under the Jimmeca grip and leave the small metal shaker piece about half piece visible outside.

And then put on the G3 cap and finish the rest as in original tutorial above. While putting on the cap, the cap will push the metal shaker piece further inside the Jimmeca grip like what you did to the front part. This will position the metal shaker piece at the most end of the cap and the back piece grip will hold it securely inside the Jimmeca grip like the image shown below.

Then you're done adding weight to SPRiNGFiELD Mod Replica while keeping the same appearance.

Pen'z Gear MX Tutorial

I decided to mod my Pen'z Gear because it's getting old and the metal weight rings have gotten rust. I used spare parts to mod this so it's a lot cheaper. Furthermore, my Pen'z Gear was a gift from relative. =D

THE MAKING

Tuck the random 1-ring grip into the HGG tip.

Cut the G3 grip at the line right after the little window. The bigger section on the left is needed.

Trim the G3 grip until it wraps the cap (on non-writable side) of Pen'z Gear just nicely (leave very little extra length).

Tips: Avoid trimming a big piece off at first. Trim little by little and often test wrap to avoid waste.

Put the HGG tip from just now into the RSVP cap. (The HGG tip will not be able to take out after tuck in) Then put on the RSVP cap on the Pen'z Gear cap as in picture above.

Take the Pen'z Gear rubber weight and push it all the way onto the Pen'z Gear cap at the other side. There will be a small gap left, it's normal.

Cut a piece of electrical tape and wrap it on top of both the rubber weight and cap to hide the gap.

Screw the Signo tip onto the rubber weight. Now you have something like this. Then just put the Anyball 5-ring grip around the tip and you're done!
