TGIF: Today is the day that I begin mentally prepping for this amazing trip. I'm planning outfits and pulling together all of my necessities for the travel. Bollare was kind enough to supply me with some awesome accessories that will make my flight and life so much better, thanks guys! If you've followed me on instagram/twitter @colbymilano, you might have seen some of the pieces. (hint: sick TKO watch!^)

Anyway, I've created this little travel board as inspiration for my flight outfit. A pair of loose jean shorts, sweater, jacket, and boots is an ideal plane look. I guess with all of the sleeping pills I plan on taking it won't really matter what I'm wearing, but at least I'll know before I pass out that I'm lookin' super cute!

The look is accompanied by a large tote which I tend to always travel with. It fits everything and is the best when it comes to easily obtaining the wallet for security. I can't wait to instagram my twistband jelly passport case btw. It's amazing, stay tuned!

Dirty Dogs & Backpacks

Welcome to my life! It's finals week, and this is what I'm wearing.

Having a backpack is essential during these times and I recommend to EVERY girl that you get one. Tote bags seem like the right choice for carrying tons of books but with 3 years of commuting experience, I can tell you (and so could my right shoulder) that it is not the go to. Get yourself a backpack, and PS: keep an eye out for the Fall 2013 Aimee Kestenberg backpacks. They're fabulous.

On another note, I stopped by Pixie Market last weekend and picked up this little cheetah ear-cuff. I've been on a very dainty jewelry kick lately, but I plan to switch it up. My visit to the Bollare office yesterday inspired me to rock big watches and bangles. That might be my next move for me in the jewelry department. Jet Set #Australia

Firstly, it's finals week. I'm swamped with prototyping, developing, researching, designing, and all this other fun stuff and that has been the reason behind my absence. On a more exciting note, it's almost over and I can't wait to drink to that! On an even MORE exciting note, I'm leaving for Australia on Tuesday to visit my bestest friend Blake. I couldn't be more pumped to explore the land down under and casually hop on another flight to visit the beautiful island of Fiji. IS THIS REAL LIFE?! I'm so thankful for the awesome people in my life. I hope you are all prepared for awesome photos coming your way, and if anyone has any places they recommend I check out please feel free to holla! I'll be in Sydney, and I can't wait to shop and love life in all the awesome stores.

Spring Layers

I've recently received many emails asking me to answer questions about my blog, style, and life for different websites. One of the questions that keeps reappearing is "what is your favorite item in your closet?" I was finding it difficult to answer because I love so many of my pieces. I then decided to take a different approach to the question, asking myself what could I not live without? Immediately, my black vintage blazer vest came to mind. I can't tell you how many times I've thrown it over leather jackets, dresses, t-shirts, practically everything and anything. It serves the purpose of giving me my usual sartorial look, and adds some light layers which I always love. This particular vest that I shot above ^ happened to be a denim jacket that I cut the sleeves off of. My point to that little diy is that obtaining a similar look might be easier than you think.
Anyway, I find vests are extremely practical for warm weather layering and can be easily used in the colder months as well. I just received a blazer vest from Growze in the mail and I can't wait to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Think about how you can create your own mixed media jacket or look just by layering a vest over it. Trust me, it works!

Madewell x Moeh Fashion Photo Diary

A big thanks to Madewell for having me in their store this past Saturday! They really have a great selection of staple items for the classic closet and I had so much fun trying pieces on, dressing customers, and shooting photos in my top picks.

Here at the denim bar I tried on a pair of super comfortable skinny jeans and paired it with their perfect "ex-boyfriend" chambray top. I love the cool, casual, chic feel denim on denim displays.

For the next look I took on sporty chic and was accompanied by my favorite accessory, baby Alex. My nephew is the cutest little nugget on the planet! I love when he makes an appearance on Moeh Fashion.
He's totally stylin'; check out those kicks!

As for my outfit, I immediately picked up this skirt the moment I walked through the doors. Classic sporty is super sexy, and this stripe shirt added just the right balance of cool to bring it all together. I've never been the biggest fan of neon, but this top has the perfect amount of pop. Obsessed.

Last was this little grey ensemble.
Madewell really made me pumped for spring and bringing back the mini skirt. This one happened to be a little more detailed as far as fabric goes. It's definitely a piece that can be easily worn from day to night.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see me at Madewell over the weekend! It was a great time of styling and shopping, photo taking and sharing style advice. If you weren't a Madewell shopper before, I highly recommend you check it out!

When it comes to kicks, these white chucks are my new besties for spring. I rarely wear sneakers, and those who know me may look at this and be like Colby in flats? No. I've always been a heels girl and that hasn't changed but it's crunch time right now. Balancing finals, projects, work, blog, and my life is difficult. During the week it's my sneaks that help me run back and forth between NYC & Long Island to accomplish all my work. BLAH.
Anyway, you can't go wrong with some white cons. They match everything, brighten up your outfit, and are just cool shoes in general. Next I need to throw my black high tops in the wash and start bringing those into the mix. Ya dig?

We're back for another #TGIF outfit inspiration on Moeh Fashion. These posts are always curated by my loves on Fashiolista, where I find it's the easiest to gather items I want or love. The minute I see something I like, my brain kicks into full gear planning what I'm going to wear with it and where I'm going to wear it. It's the same when I shop, which is why it's very difficult to buy just 1 item. As a normal girl buying 1 thing is nearly impossible. That's one of the reasons why this little Rebecca Minkoff iPad case caught my eye. "Don't Bother Me...I'm Shopping!" can relate to a lot of girls and their addiction. Am I right?!

PS, these Alexander Wang cut out shorts are totally awesome. I paired it with the Marc Jacobs sweater and obv a pair of heels. I wish this could be on my body, right now!

I definitely can't help but surround myself with friends that constantly quote mean girls. Friday at Hot Kiss is like a non stop conversation with the occasional outbursts of "I want my pink shirt back!" and "Is butter a carb?" Basically where I'm going with this has everything to do with the vintage belt that happens to be my moms from the 80's. Now if you're anything like I hope you to be, you are thinking in your head exactly what you should be thinking. There is not one moment when I wear this belt that I don't hope and pray to the mean girl gods for someone to ask me "OMG I love you're belt where did you get it?" so I can casually answer "It was my moms from the 80's." etc, etc. #bestmomentever.

Anyway, on a more serious note, love this belt and love this baby star print maxi. Vintage finds are always the best because of their unique tendencies. This overall look I'm becoming very fond of for the warmer months. There's nothing more comfortable and sexy than a sweet skirt and a crop top. I'm all about those 90's baby tees!

I've been a big fan of Lulu Frost ever since I discovered them at the Refinery29 Tinseltown event. They're jewelry literally drew me in like a bug to a light bulb. Being somewhat sporty this weekend in NYC with my sissies. We decided to take a mini road trip into TriBeCa to hang and shoot some photos. I would consider this outfit to be my uniform. I always find myself wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and a blazer when I don’t feel like mentally challenging my inner stylist. I just find it’s the easiest and automatically looks put together. So if you’re ever running late and don’t have time to think about anything, try it. Anyway, the heels are new from Zara. I’ve been nonstop wearing them because they’re everything I look for in a shoe. They’re simplistic, sexy, thin, black, strappy, +3 inches, and a highly recommended purchase from the Zara shoe collections that I live by. Sometimes it really bothers me how good Zara is, it’s just TOO good.

Muscles to my left, crazies to my right, and medical marijuana stands everywhere in between. Sounds pretty awesome no?

It's always a good time in Venice beach. The strip is jam packed with t-shirt stands, smoke shops, and people chillin' all over the place. It's almost a little overwhelming, even as a city girl, to take in everything that's going on. Muscle beach alone is hard to contemplate ( lol ). I cooled down with an ice pink lemonade and watched the boys play some b_ball. I love Cali.

Also currently loving this Mixology lace blazer. It's the perfect jacket for Spring/Summer and easily transitions from day to night wear. These Sam Edelman sandals I've been rocking lately are also a new fav piece of mine. They're extremely comfortable and like I said in the last post, you can't go wrong with a good neutral / metallic contrast.

I arrived at LAX last Saturday morning with Rachel, head designer at Hot Kiss, and headed straight to the gorgeous Casa Del Mar hotel in Santa Monica. Leave it to my favorite cousin to find this place, right on the beach, and in one of the most beautiful towns in California. I often wonder why Santa Monica isn't completely overpopulated. I mean the weather is always amazing, the beach is gorgeous, and the air feels so clean. I've been contemplating the idea of living there after I graduate. I think I want to take advantage of the fact that I am not tied down to anyone or anything, yet. We'll save that conversation for a later date.

Anyway, this is me loving life around the hotel premises. I was fully equipped with my fav fedora, same as what I rocked all vacation long in Florida, and my new Sam Edelman sandals. These are now my go-to shoes for Spring/Summer. With the vast amount of running around that I do, I need something comfortable and I don't particularly like flats. The ‘Trina’ pretty much solved my problem plus the baby heel is gold. How can you say no to the perfect metallic and neutral contrast?

The rest of the week was spent in LA where I worked with the Hot Kiss team during market week. I love everyone I work with so to sum it all up it was a great time. My boss is the shit, more photos of the trip to come!

This outfit inspired post is not only comprised of my recent loves from Fashiolista, but also includes a couple of pieces planned to be packed for my trip this weekend. I'm headed to Santa Monica bright an early Saturday morning to spend some time with my wonderful godmother/cousin. Then I'll be in LA for the rest of the week with the Hot Kiss team! It'll be a perfect blend of shopping, sitting poolside, and working which I am definitely looking forward to.
I am especially excited to be wearing these Sam Edelman "Trina" sandals all week. They're the perfect shoe for spring dontchya think?! The baby gold heel is my fav part, but you'll see all those details in an outfit post next week.

The Pep In My Step

I'm a big fan of doubling up on similar styles and/or fabrics. I love rocking the denim on denim look, or a full monochromatic look, and even sometimes carry that idea over to my jewelry (hence the stack of dainty rings). In this case I took the popular peplum top and doubled up with a peplum jacket. It makes the style a little more exaggerated which I like, especially because I kept the rest of the outfit is pretty basic. This top is one from the spring W118 by Walter Baker collection and I loveeee it. The colored print makes it easy to mix and match with other pieces and dominates a look when worn by itself. My peplum jacket was picked up when I shopped with New York & Company a couple of months ago. Last but not least are my new sunnies! Celine babies that I got for my birthday while in Florida. The Ocean Breathes Salty

These photos document the beginning of my day spent on the boat in Florida. It's funny how I start off with an iced coffee, and finish with a beer. Those two drinks basically describe how awesome my day was and so do these pictures. I could get used to cruising in aquamarine water while admiring giant houses, and I did for a minute. Now that I'm back in NY, all I could wish for is water and weather like this.

One downside to this post is the fact that this bathing suit bottom flew off our balcony when laying out to dry the next day. By the time I realized, it was gone forevs. Isn't it depressing when a piece you love gets lost?! Such a bummer.

Also really loving this lace jacket I picked up at Mixology stores before I left. I wore it a million times and I can't wait to wear it a million more.

Keeping comfortable in one of my favorite denim fits, the boyfriend jean, one afternoon in Hollywood beach. They come fitted, super loose, distressed, dark wash, light wash, and everything else you could imagine. If you're like me and this is your go-to jean, check out the ASOS denim shop. Just another day in Florida, this time loving life on a boat cruising north toward Delray beach. This post is part 1 of 3, but that's no surprise. I figured why not act like Mariah Carey on her episode of cribs and have 3 outfit changes for ya know, some photos. By this time in the afternoon it was a little chilly, we had just hopped off to have some lunch and then I got to drive for some of the time. Also climbed to the tip top with my momma and peeked into every house we passed discussing which mansion we'd like for ourselves. Then I drank my Corona Light and straight chilled, #goodtimes.

This week I'm taking off from NY life and staying at my family's Florida apartment. Putting everything from school, work, and NY weather to rest for a chance to just freely blog and enjoy the scenery (literally). So far I've rode my bike about 9 miles down the beach for shits & gigs, enjoyed our balcony that looks over the ocean, and hung by the pool. Really rough life I'm living right now. Anyway, I've been asking myself why I don't move down here for a little bit after I graduate, then I waited in line at Starbucks for about 20 mins with only 1 person ahead of me and realize "oh, that's why". People are moving way too slow for my liking, but for now I'm in no rush so I'll forgive them and take my iced caramel macchiato, thanks!

50 Shades of Denim

50 shades within a 3 piece outfit is pretty impressive. I'd take all the credit but obviously can't because it's really all about these two-faced pants that I picked up at Zara last week. I love a good mix of similarities (hence my post on hued pieces the other day), and continued with the idea by adding a "denim" blazer. My shirt is Chaser, a brand I became familiar with when I worked in Mixology. Basically imagine a mix between fashion pieces and basic everyday ridiculously comfortable pieces. Who doesn't love that mix? Check them out.

Good Day, Sunshine

Taking a hint from yellow cabbies in NYC and incorporating the color into my wardrobe with these New York & Company pants. This morning in meatpacking, sunlight was warming up the streets and I was doing the usual, people watching and listening to music. I've had the JT 20/20 Experience on repeat ever since I was able to stream it and if you haven't listened to it, I suggest you do!

Anyway, without realizing, my last couple of posts have concentrated on either blue, red, and now yellow. It's apparent that primary colors are taking over my looks for Spring and that's not a bad thing. I find one of my weaknesses is bringing color into my outfits because if you couldn't tell, I love a lot of black, whites, and grays when it comes to layering. So for now, I'll use my favorite monochromatic ways and rock full color or pull it in like I did with a statement red dress.
