Abused husband must find safety ---now

2010-03-23T12:49:00.001-07:00

An Excerpt from Daily Record Newspaper about a fearful husband and response from AMY.

DEAR AMY:

I recently remarried after 16 years of a first marriage, which ended because of an act of infidelity by my former wife.

I stayed in that marriage too long because of my overwhelming love for my kids.

My current wife and I have been married a little more than a year, and while i knew she had trust and self-esteem issues, I never imagines what i woud have to edure.

My wife is enormously jealous and accuses me of improprieties in our marriage, even though i have gone out of my way to show her how much i love her and that she can trust me.

I have given her all my passowrds to all my e-mail accounts and access to my company comoyuter and cell phone. I call her all the time, especially when i travel on business to show her i have nothing to hide and love her.

Her jealously and have turned to violent rage, and on several occasions she physically attacked me.

One incident required the police, which led to her arrest due to the injuries I suffered. A court order required her to attend an anger management program, but she has attacked me twice since.

Despite her attacks I never raised my hands to her an simply let her beat me, because she told me how a former boyfriend hit her, and i said i would never do that. We attended counseling, but our problems have grown worse. I don’t knwo what to do.

Fearful husband

DEAR FEARFUL:

Leave this relationship immediately. You are being emotionally and physically abused, and you should leave for your own safety. If there are children in the house, get them out too.

Develop a safety plan.

Find a friend to stay with, pack your documents , valuables and some clothing without your wife’s knowledge, and leave the home.

The Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men and Women has content specifically oriented toward men who are being abused. Your response to this abuse ---- to try to tough it out ----is sadly common for men who are victims of domestic violence.

Snow Snow Snow till Spring

2010-03-05T10:46:00.001-08:00

Its already enough snow in this winter but i think there are still one or two snowfalls in weather repository. The snow in Morris country,NJ, has 28 inches snow in February but its still not a record as the accumulated snow for the winter season reaches 45 incehs which is still below 65 inches snow in 1996.

Even if this has not broken records, it has seriously hurt restaurants, retailers and all sorts of businesses in this great recession. Only item that is selling like hot dogs is salt and shovels nothing else. Recent snow was around 15 inches in northern jersey, close to 21 inches in southern jersey and nearly 31 inches in upstate,NY.

Everybody including me is praying hard for the spring, just want to get over this snowy, rough winter.

Burton new direction “Alice in Wonderland”

Tim Burton has entered into the “wonderland” with his favourite actor cum friend Johy depp as mad hatter along with his gril friend Helena Bonham who is playing the role of Red Queen.

The theme of the movie is quite interesting to start with. Alice returns to the wonderland without childhood adventure in the same fantasy world. The wonderland is no more a calm and sweet place like her last visit. It has turned into a battle field between wicked Red queen and her noble sister White queen.

I am planning to watch this movie not just because of the childhood fantasy screened but also due to one of my favourite actor Johny Depp.

I hope the movie stays to my childhood and young imaginations :)

We are not over with Haiti disaster and there we here with another natural calamity, Chile quake, taking lives of more than 700 hundred lives and still counting.

The earth quake of magnitude 8.8, century’s biggest, has hit CONCEPCION city hard leaving behind hundreds dead and thousands suffering. Another misery is the looting and robbery by looters who are taking advantage of this dire situation. Government has sent soldiers to implement night curfew and stop quell looting.

500,000 houses were destroyed or damaged, according to officials.

I wonder how many more natural disasters are in the pipeline for this increasingly difficult planet to live on.

Right to Vote for Women

2010-02-27T20:32:00.001-08:00

Image by Michael Foley Photography via Flickr

The right to vote for women seems a natural thing nowadays and one might feel astonished to hear about any country where women are not given this right. I thought western countries have given this right atleast 100 years ago but i am surprised to see that switzerland gave this right just 39 years ago. The right to vote for women in western world started in second half of 19th century and most of the countries gave this right before 1950 except few countries like Switzerland. Few influential countries of the world who gave the right to vote for women in 20th century are as follows:

1918: Germany,Russia and Austria gave women the right to vote.

1919: Holland and Belgium granted the right to vote for women.

1920: US gave women the right to vote in all states

1928: UK gave the right to women to vote.

Driver’s Drinking “Automatic”

2010-02-19T05:02:00.001-08:00

I have been following drunken Dover driver, Baum’s case, who killed two young girls while they were walking along Kinnelon road on April 20, 2006. It seems a straight case of murdering two innocent teen agers by a drunk driver but the defence attorney tried very hard to prove the man innocent by saying that he was so addicted to Alcohol that he drank without realizing the consequences and ran over the girls without sensing what he did.

Baum has confessed to being drunk on vodka when the car he was driving struck and killed cousins Mayada Jafar, 15, of Kinnelon and Athear Jafar, 16, of Jefferson as they walked along Kinnelon Road on April 20, 2006.

Can anybody be given any concession if he/she is drunk while committing a crime. The person committing a crime while drunk should be punished severely because he has not only committed a crime rather committed it unknowingly due to higher dosage of alcohol.

How long would Alchohol stay legal and let humanity suffer?

I am relieved to see that the offender has been found guilty on all charges.

Justice done.

Good Wife or Philosopher

2010-02-07T07:13:00.001-08:00

Socrates:

"My advice to you is get married if you find a good wife you will be happy, if not ,you will become a philosopher."

Excerpt from Xenophon's Conversations of Socrates

Antisthenes: ". . . why don't you train Xanthippe instead of having a wife who is of all living women - and I believe of all that ever have been or will be - the most difficult to get on with?"

Socrates: "Because I notice that people who want to become good horsemen keep not the most docile horses but ones that are high-spirited, because they think that they can control these, they will easily manage any other horses. In the same way, since I wish to deal and associate with people, I have provided myself with this wife, because I'm quite sure that, if I can put up with her, I shall find it easy to get on with any other human being."

Socrates had a different and contrary view to modern view,”make me happy or i am leaving”, on marriage. Instead of demanding his wife to become perfect embodiment of his desires, he worked on perfecting himself.
