Syria, Soviets, Science, Sexism, Skeptics and Sceptic Stupidity

Originally broadcast 14 September, 2013::

If you missed the show last week, which you probably did unless you listened live because the audio quality of the podcast was horrible, then you missed my analysis of the situation in Syria. My prediction about the the Russian reaction was spot on, as usual, but of course this turns an already non-winnable predicament into a serious clash of morals and ethics. There are times when I think that our entire civilization is going through the Kobayashi Maru scenario.

Usually I talk about the things that unite us, culturally, ethically and biologically, trying to show how those who fight against these through prejudice and superstition are not only wrong, but are actually a debilitating cancer within the human race. This time I'm going to talk about the things that divide us, the strange ideas and actions that can divide us and leave us open to defeat. Including the sudden view of Putin as an ''American Hero'' standing up for Syria, despite his fascist policies and thuggish ideals, as well as the accusation of sexism against Richard Dawkins that have managed to turn leading atheists and skeptics against each other.

All of that and the best music from across generations and genres, packed into two unforgettable hours.

Another Day, Another Fayre

Originally Broadcast 31 August, MMXIII ::
I'll be once again attending a British Fayre in order to lecture, preach, cajole and educate the masses about saving their little corner of the planet.

How will it go? Will my ever living boredom drive even the staid Brits to madness? Will I finally snap at someone who waddles up to me and yells, "OI! You work for (insert colorful pejorative for local government here), innit?"

Tune in to find out the answers to these questions, and much, much more...

Lift Me Above the Old Routine

Originally broadcast 24 Aug, 2013:

I've said it before and I'll say it again, music is the closest thing we have in this world to magic and sex is the closest thing we have to true spirituality. It never ceases to amaze me how mere vibrations in the air, stimulating tiny pieces of flesh and bone in the ear, can bring us such feelings of ecstasy. Can relieve our pain, inspire, motivate and soothe each and every one of us, no matter the color or culture, music is the one thing we all have in common.

I'll be talking about that on the next show, as well as discussing various ideas of why this is so and playing great music from across generations and genres to help soothe the madness and pain that the atrocities and hate around the world can often induce in those of us burdened with conscience.

Clueless by the Sea

Note, due to major glitches during broadcast, this is a barely recovered, enhanced and recreated podcast of the original episode broadcast 10 August.

What a strange day. I have many things planned, yet haven't gotten around to most of them. I plan on stopping by the revamped Newhaven Outdoor Market, which will be closing soon as it's now past 4:00pm. I also wanted to check out a hog roast for charity at a local pub, among other things, yet here I sit typing this. Meh

What I'll probably be talking about on the next show is all the things I didn't do today, and expounding upon last week's theme: What is Putin Hiding in the Iron Closet? Especially now that the International Olympic Committee has done an about face, stating that any athletes who do not abide by Russia's bigoted, draconian laws, both in and out of the Olympic stadium & events, will be ousted from the games. There goes my idea of athletes wearing pink triangles. If they were to do that, they'd quickly be banned from the games, lose any medals they'd won and then probably be arrested by the Russians on their way to the airport.

Of course some might still do it. If it's really all about the sport, all about proving yourself the best, then the medals won't matter. An athlete could win a gold medal, wear the pink triangle on the winners platform and maybe kiss the silver recipient long and slow - even if (or most especially if) they're both straight and the world would know that he or she really is the best - both physically and morally. When they're stripped of their medals it won't matter.

Oh yeah, I got some awesome tunes that I'll be playing as well!
