Super Bowl week was super.   I had the perfect mix of tomfoolery and work, and loved every second of it.  Consequently, I am more exhausted than I have ever been in my life.  There are going to be some serious napping sessions this week.  Seriously, I could cry from tired. But life is good.  I mean, I got asked (by my boyfriend on the right) to take this photo of two of my favorite people.  It doesn’t get any better than that.

The boudoir books are all back from the printer.  I am SO excited to deliver them this week and get people all hooked up for Valentine’s Day.  I am THRILLED with how they turned out and have a few that I hope I can get permission to share.  Fingers crossed.

There are two MAJOR things happening with my business this month.  First, I am launching a new logo.  I am madly in love with how it is coming together and cannot wait to share… stay tuned for the big unveiling.  Secondly, I am MOVING MY STUDIO INTO THE STUTZ BUILDLING.  Soon, I will be a resident of the third floor of one of my favorite buildings in town.  Walls are being painted, the IKEA trip is being planned, and I cannot wait to have you all down for a visit.  As soon as I know when, I’ll let you know the date.  I will be consulting there, editing, and doing some adorable portrait and saucy boudoir sessions.  I love it.  Love.

February marks the one-year anniversary of leaving my old life to start my new one.  I’m already drafting the super sappy blog post on that, but in the meantime, just know that I’m here and things are great.  Cheers.

My introductory pricing for this session is still going to be $300.
You will have the option to add professional hair and make-up on-site for another $50 each.  I can’t emphasis how important I think hair and make-up is… it transforms you!

This includes:
A 90 minute (give or take) session at a hotel suite on the north side of Indianapolis.
A full disc of edited high-resolution images with a copyright release.
A password protected gallery for you to share as you wish.
A leather cover “little black book” of your photos to showcase your hotness (available in black or red leather).
Cocktails and good music.

Yep, it's THIS exciting.

I was thrilled to be a part of this couple’s big day.  When I first sat down with Christina and her wedding planner (the lovely Laura Lim of Eventfull Planning), I loved her non-traditional vision.  They were to get married mid-week, between Christmas and New Years, at the home they had just bought together.  A small, intimate party surrounded by their friends, beautiful decor and amazing food.  They got just the wedding they dreamed of (although I don’t think they dreamed of pretty snow that turned to sleet, but we rallied and overcame it!)… and it was a great night.

This was the year that I lost my mind—in the best way possible. In 2011, I took some risks, faced some fears… and proceeded to kick their ass.

I will spare you the recap of all of the awesome things that I accomplished (after all, if you follow my blog, you’ve been keeping up)—but rest assured that I did many, many awesome things. More than anything, however, I learned some things…

I learned that nose piercings don’t hurt.

I learned that I can take some pretty amazing boudoir photos.

I learned that bad weather on someone’s wedding day is one of the more stressful things that I photographer can deal with. Ever. Also, I learned to also pack rain boots for the bride.

I learned that wedding planners can be—and should be—some of my best friends.

I learned that having a friend in a coma sucks—and then I learned about understanding true joy when he woke up.

I learned (confirmed, actually) that Mr. Ryan Gosling is the most amazing looking human around.

I learned that there are more fun things to do than driving to West Virginia.

I learned that I never want to hear an LMFAO song ever again.

I learned that I love Tess more than I thought I could.

I learned that some friendships can run their course—and that we need to pack up all of the good times and stuff we learned and go out into the world to forge new ones.

I learned that my mom is right more often that I’d like to admit.

I learned that after a LONG day of wedding shooting, having a valet deliver your car is WELL worth the $25.

I learned all kinds of words to ridiculous children’s songs to make the little ones laugh—and that I need to get my knock-knock jokes firmed up for 2012.

I learned that you can throw an amazing backyard wedding in October in Indiana and get (very) lucky with the weather.

I learned that I don’t miss Monday morning meetings, corporate policy handbooks and Fortune 500(-ish) politics.

I learned that not every bride is a good match.

I learned how amazing it is to have a dad who values the importance of me having health insurance. Thank you.

I learned that eating an entire loaf of bread at one time really only makes the dog sick for like 24 hours.

I learned that I cannot live without cable.

I learned the importance of having a good mix of the following types of friends: “you can do it!” friends, “are you effing crazy?” friends, “I need some wine!” friends, “is that the best you can do?” friends and friends that know when to give you a hug, when to blow it up and when to kick you in the ass.

I learned that Pinterist is more dangerous that etsy.

I learned that my first photography purchase of 2012 needs to be a 100mm lens.

But, most importantly I’ve learned how to be brave. And I’m getting braver every day.
