Here is a wee little piece of mail art that's on its way to London! I started with the 6"x6" piece of paper supplied for this project and added collage.

Then it sat for a while...quite a while actually.

Then I added the boarder, individual little words and glitter embedded with encaustic. Finally I added the hummingbird image transfer. Bon Voyage little bird!

From this angle you can really get a sense of the lovely paper texture, letterpress impression and gold shimmer.

These are my new business cards...complete with peacock blue edge painting.

Long Time, No See!

Wow, time flies when you're having fun...clearly I've been having a ball since it's been about a year and a half since I've posted anything here. Yikes! So, I guess I'll catch you up to speed. The most exciting announcement is that I'm now a mama and my little boy is actually turning 1 next month. Yeah, time flies!

In other news...Geoff and I bought a cute little farm house (with a nice big shop!) out in the country.

And somehow I've actually managed to get some work done in all of this excitement. Here is a 1940's styled shoot that I worked on:

Ladies of Letterpress + Mohawk Paper

Ladies of Letterpress and Mohawk Paper have teamed up for their first ever collaborative project. As soon as I caught wind of it, I happily jumped on board. The project is called "What will you make today?" and all Ladies of Letterpress members were invited to join. Participants were given a choice of Mohawk papers and envelopes. Everyone involved received 10 blank sets. We were asked to send in 2 sets to Mohawk that would then travel to the LOL conference and the remaining sets we get to keep. Here's what I made:

DIY Wedding Suite

Here it is, our first DIY wedding suite! We were contacted by a bride-to-be who asked if we would be interested in designing invites that she would then print and assemble herself. Of course we said yes. The invitations were such a hit with the guests, some of them didn't want to break up the set by sending in the rsvp...so they sent a photocopy instead.

Odd Duck Press began as a letterpress print shop, creating one of a kind, artisan stationary. We dearly love the old-world, traditional craft of fine printing. We also realize that letterpress doesn't suite every budget. We are pleased to now offer a variety of options for your wedding stationary ranging from DIY to Haute Couture.

OK, so we didn't actually move to Canada...however we are a mere 1.13 miles from the boarder. We are so looking forward to setting up our new space. For those of you who haven't heard the story already, we've moved to a raspberry farm in Lynden, WA. This used to be a dairy farm, and since the owners have switched to raspberries, they now have a bunch of unused buildings. We're renting the old milk barn. This is by far our best workspace yet...1,700 sq. ft., cement floor, natural light...and cheap! We're gonna hit the ground running; Odd Duck Press and Molnar Craft will be fully operational before you can say "Do you want gravy with your fries?".

My first group art show in Seattle is coming up July 18th at Gossamer Collective. The show is called "Miniature Art IV:Red". All of the work is itty-bitty; 4"x4" or smaller. My submission is called "a little thing".

Farewell California & Hello Molnaria!

It's been an epic saga getting out of California. We just made our final trip to get the last of our stuff; mostly very heavy equipment such as Geoff's vertical mill and my printing press. We spent 5 days sorting, packing and loading everything. Friday afternoon we were ready to go! We went to the weigh station only to learn that our load was WAY too heavy, so we went back, unpacked, ditched several thousand pounds worth of stuff. By 10:00 pm we were ready to go (again). We stopped at a rest stop in N. CA and slept in the truck for 3 hours then continued on. In Oregon, as we were coming down the Willamette Pass, the brakes failed! We pulled over safely and after an hour or two Geoff had the breaks working again. We crept along at 15 mph until we were at the bottom of the mountain. Geoff spent another couple of hours working on the truck. It was late and we were hungry. We managed to find a McDonald's that was open...but only the drive through. The truck with the trailer wouldn't fit, so we walked through. After dinner we slept in the truck again. The next day we made it to Vancouver, WA where my Uncle Mark and his family live. We showered and slept in beds. It was awesome! Geoff spent the next day, yeah that's right, working on the truck. Back on the road Monday...and Monday night around 9:00 pm we were home!
