Subway Eat Fresh

I cannot believe this. I took my daughter to lunch at Subway and the entire time we were there I was bombarded with how fresh you eat at Subway. Why is Subway fresh? Why should you eat fresh? Did you know that at Subway you eat fresh? What is fresh? Then I got the diatribe about how it's fresh because it doesn't sit under a heat lamp like at McDonalds. Keep in mind that she was stating all of this at 60-80 decibels. They could probably hear her in the parking lot. Oy. At least she didn't ask why the lady sitting next to us was fat.

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You Special Edition DVD Review

Now that the holidays are over, we're already starting to think about Valentine's Day. As such, I was recently give the opportunity to review a copy of the newly released Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You Special Edition DVD.

I thought this would appeal to my 5 year old daughter because she loves valentine's day, and hey, what 5 year old doesn't like Winnie the Pooh? The DVD includes 3 Winnie the Pooh stories including a new-to-DVD adventure ("My Hero") and a bonus feature ("Catch the Love Bug" game). In addition, inside the DVD case are 6 Winnie the Pooh themed Valentine's Day Cards featuring Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Tigger.

In Un-Valentine's Day, Rabbit decides he wants to cancel Valentine's Day because last year, the 100 acre woods was just overflowing with cards. Everyone reluctantly agrees until Pooh receives an anonymous gift of honey, and then it's "game on."

In A Valentine for You, when the residents of the 100 acre woods watch Christopher Robin writing a valentine to a girl, they panic. They decide that he's been bitten by a "smitten" and is sick. They set out on an adventure to catch the "smitten" reasoning that if they can get the "smitten" to bite him again he'll be cured.

My Hero is a new-to-DVD adventure that shows the lesson of two friends truly helping each other.

What I found to be really nice about this DVD is that each story wasn't too long and was able to hold my daughter's attention. Even though she can sit through a longer movie now, this is really nice for mom's of younger kids whose attention span is still limited. The whole DVD runs 50 minutes.

Overall, I found this to be a a cute DVD that I think most young children would enjoy. It's story lines are reminiscent of the classical, whimsical Winnie the Pooh that we all remember as children. If you're looking for a fun, family friendly movie for Valentine's Day, you really can't go wrong.

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You Special Edition was released on January 5th and is currently available for sale at Amazon.com for $21.99 or at your local retailer. This DVD is also eligible for Disney rewards points.

Dad, what are you doing with your money?

As if she didn't get enough presents over the holidays, my daughter has decided that she wants to buy another Liv doll. Now, she's not even 6 yet, but I've told her that if she wants this doll, which costs around $18-$20, she would have to save up her money and buy it herself.

So the first thing she does is start asking me if I have any dollars in my wallet. I tell her no. She starts running around the house looking for change. Every time she finds a penny, she runs up and tells me about it.

So, when my husband gets home from work, and the first question out of her mouth is, "Dad, what are you doing with your money?" My husband is aghast, and wonders where this is coming from. She then goes into a diatribe explaining to him that she has $4.32 and she needs to find more money to pay for her doll. It was actually quite funny.

Now, we don't give her an allowance, so I told her that if she could think of any projects around the house, I would pay her a little money to do them. She starts getting all upset because she can't think of any and the thought of not having enough money to buy this doll is just killing her.

Then her big brother (who's 22) steps in and tells her that he will give her $10 if she folds his laundry. Now before you say anything, this kid had a lot of laundry to fold, and he's tall, so it was big laundry for her. She diligently runs downstairs and spends hours struggling with folding his laundry to earn her $10.

Then hubby goes down there and comes back up and tells me she didn't do a very good job. I said, well, she's only 5 after all. I told her that I was very proud of her for taking the initiative and working for something she wanted.

Isn't it amazing the lengths kids will go to when they want something? And on the flip side, when they don't want something?

Sleep Issues

Ok, I'm not sure what it is about my daughter, but she never sleeps. She is almost 6 years and old and she still gets up at night, although it's not as bad as it used to be.

For five years, I was up at least one time every single night. Now at least, it comes in spurts. Take last night, for instance. She was up at 2:00 am, and I have no idea what time she went back to sleep. I was so tired. My husband leaves the house at 3:00 am for work, and she was up when he left. Then she came into my room at least 2-3 times asking if she could sleep on his side. I had gotten to sleep around 1:00, and I was so tired that I finally relented because in my exhausted stupor, I realized that I would have no sleep if I didn't let her, seeing that we had to be up at 7:00am to get her ready for school.

So this morning, she's all bouncy and gets right up and I'm exhausted from being woken up 3-4 times (between her and hubby).

I just have to keep telling myself, this too shall pass . . .

Is it just me?

Or is anyone else glad that school is back in session tomorrow? I mean, I love my daughter more than anything, but I am sure glad to get back to our routine.
