Momentary lapses of reason....

Oldies

2012-11-03T22:52:00.000-06:00

So I am going to start putting up old photos that I have taken. I'm doing this because I haven't really been able to get out to do any new shoots with school and all. The photos here are various ones I took while serving in Montana. They are mostly unaltered (as you'll be able to see in how slanted a lot of them are), any color treatment on them was done in camera. If you have any questions regarding locations and all that please leave a comment. Enjoy!

I was please to be asked to take the bridals for Erin's wedding, they were married this last weekend and as she had asked me to wait to post the photos I am posting them now. Thank to her mom, sister, and aunt for helping out!

Erica & Bryce.

Well a car crash and blizzard made the wedding for Bryce and Erica a crazy day but it was still a lot of fun! Congrats to the cute couple!

Mom's day.

2012-05-15T16:40:00.000-06:00

Headed down to the ole' homestead for a taco dinner and mother's day. The tacos didn't last song so sadly there are only pictures of gifts getting opened and other randomness.

Ana's missionary pictures

2012-05-11T15:31:00.000-06:00

My friend Ana is getting ready to serve a mission for the lds church and she asked me if we could do some pictures. We met on temple square a few weeks ago. We had to dodge the crowds but it went great! Ana is so photogenic.

Look around.

Take some time to see the beautiful things all around you.

Yummy muffins

2012-04-17T21:10:00.002-06:00

So this was my breakfast and one I'm going to make a lot more. They give a new meaning to breakfast muffins! You get a standard muffin tin line the things with bacon and drop in an egg and then bake. I saw them on the interwebs and thought they would be pretty good.

A few old pics.

2012-03-30T17:43:00.000-06:00

So last night I was getting a bunch of pictures moved over to my external drive and it gave me the change to look through pictures I haven't seen in awhile. I will be posting a few each day in hopes that I can share them with you. Below are pictures from a camping trip a bunch of us took after Kyle got back from his mission. The pictures were pretty bright so I thought a nice colored filter would really help them pop. I hope you enjoy and as always please check out my site to view more galleries!

2 months of yum.

2012-03-26T21:05:00.001-06:00

So here you will see two cases or 60 packs of what Peter from work labelled luxury ramen. These my friends are little packs of yum straight from Indonesia. They are in fact packs of ramen fried noodles but what sets them on a higher plane than the poor college student counterpart is the seasoning. In this flavor concoction there is the usual yum filled packet of MSG, a packet of dried onions, and the tri-fecta of hot sauce, soy cause, and oil. We got into these at work because Jesse loves to order things from asia and he decided to share these with us one day, needless to say they are yummy. After eating one of these ramen will in fact continue to taste like cardboard. Even though jesse is generous enough to let us have one of these whenver we want, a bunch of us from work thought we should buy our own. So we pooled money and ordered 8 cases to be split among us. So what does this have to do with photography? Um well I took some pictures, so enjoy and check out my webpage at lyonsphotography.zenfolio.com and book me for a shoot and I'll bring lunch.....if you know what I mean :D

Had a great time wtih Erica & Bryce for their engagement shots the other day, we braved the wind and rain and headed to the West Jordan City park. They are quite the cute couple and go great together!

Birthday!

2012-03-11T23:51:00.004-06:00

Well I have a backlog of photos I need to blog about.....the mass effect games have been taking up a lot of my time. Today we had a dinner for mom's birthday down at grandma's in Provo, and below are a few pics. One of the best is when Gavin went down the slide and would shout "Yeah!" and raise his arm. There are a lot more pictures and they will be up on my facebook

Back Again

2012-02-08T22:15:00.001-07:00

The last few weeks I have started to tire of my work and school, that seems to be my life. I have wanted to expand my hobby to the point where I can make money from it. This came about from a math class, we were talking about Venn diagrams and an example used was my hobbies, things people would pay me for and a third mystery item ( aka I forgot what it was ). I thought about this and figured hey I love photography and people pay for that. Bingo!

Home movies.

2010-03-13T11:18:00.006-07:00

My mom's summer project last year was to take all our old home videos and convert them to DVD. Her real goal was to give them to all the kids as Christmas gifts. None of us were surprised when we opened them up because we had helped her with this massive project. I'm surprised we didn't get any home video of her with piles of tapes around her. A few nights ago I came home from school to find me at age 3 on the screen. It was my birthday, I hope we were having fun because from the video we all looked confused by the games we were trying to play. Note: As a 3 year old I didn't have the best motor skills =P
Age 3 was a long time ago. Let me set the scene. We still lived in orem, the ginormous lilac bush that was ripped out when we moved could have doubled for a rose bush. The back lawn was primp and bright green, later it would resemble a nuclear waste land because our dog toad turned it into wild country (RIP toad.). I was the size of a normal 3 year old, not gigantic like I am now, oh and I had blonde hair, bleach blonde hair, we still can't figure that out. Though my brothers will say it's because they really found me in a dumpster when I was a baby.
With we are my party were my childhood best friends, clayton and jesse. A few neighborhood girls and my childhood love Missy Lethem. I don't remember much about my relationship with her. I only really remember when her family moved. It wasn't painful, at that age I was more concerned about the Powerrangers than I was with love.
The day after this I was watching a program about flight 93. The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania during the 9/11 attacks. It told the story of the passengers, who understood that they were being used as a missile to kill others and decided to to something about it. Several of the passengers were able to contact their family before they attacked the terrorists which resulted in the crash. Many of these were recorded and it was touching to hear the final words of so many of these American heroes.
Memories are important to our happiness, they can refresh us when we are in a part of life that we wouldn't want to record. They can remind us of where we came from. They immortalize people we have lost, and will one day immortalize us when we are gone.

Feeling really good.

My public speaking class is really nice. We spend a lot of time analyzing different speakers and different types of speeches. Sister Rose, my teacher picks some awesome speeches for us to dissect. So not only are we able to improve our speaking skills we also get to listen to some very inspirational things. I wanted to share a few of my favorites.

Driving through paradise.

I think Montana's skies are by far the best I have seen. They contain an energy that is lacking in other places. The beauty of Montana's landscape is reflected in the atmosphere of the Big Sky country. The awe of the mountains and plains escape in the clouds that rumble over them. No photo or canvas can capture the sound, sight, and smell of God's country. Nor can they replicate that feeling that comes from the spirit of the people who try and tame the wild acres of Montana.

I was downstairs talking with my brother a bit ago when I knock came at our door. I asked my brother if he was expecting someone and he replied that he was. The person at our door was Apa Sherpa, he has climbed Mt. Everest 19 times! I had never met someone who had climbed Mt Everest before so up the stairs I went to change that. I got in a simple 'hello' and a handshake but oh how would I have loved to have an hour to talk him him. I can only imagine the stories he has. Likewise many wonderful people I have met as a missionary, too many to write here.
While I am pretty set in my opinions and views of the world I love hearing people's stories and ideas on "stuff". I think that is a healhty way to understand the world.
I enjoy being with people. While I'm not interested in being popular or the center of attention, being with and meeting people is a great source of joy in my life. I think there is great satisfaction in being close with people. This is something I feel is slipping in this digital age.
As much as being social is one of my joys it is also a great learning experience. Great social laws govern the world, most of which I don't understand but try to follow. I think I'm making along okay, despite some lost friends and lots of akward moments.
Well it has been several weeks of work on this, it has been a good time to evaluate and reflect even if there isn't much of anything said here. On to a new week waiting for another knock at the door, another Apa, maybe an old friend, or a new friend.

Still ringing in my ears.

It has been said that if you can't be on time then you should at least be early. That boded well for the concert last night. At the Murray theater, Chelsey and I were able to be right up against the stage to see As Tall as Lions and Dredge.
The show was another fine addition to a wonderful summer and a final fun thing before next semester starts. My favorite thing about going to concerts happens about a week after when you think back and remember how much fun it was. So onto another day but at least last nights music is still ringing in my ears. Below is some music from As Tall as Lions and Dredge, Enjoy!

Ahh summer!

I decided that the best place for me to ponder is my hammock. Not only because pondering can be just another word for napping. But because the backyard can be the perfect place to run away with your thoughts, even if the neighbor is mowing his/her yard ( which seems to happen quite often ). Summer is going to be long days and nights with me wrapped up in the snug sack pondering the days away. Who knows what wonderful things will happen with all the pondering I will do. By the end of summer I might write a best selling novel, cure cancer, run a marathon, or just be grumpy because summer is over and I have to put the hammock away. Stop in if you know where I live and say hello. There are plenty of spots for other hammocks if you want, just bring snacks!
Well you know where I will be! Happy Trails!
