I can’t believe that it was eight years ago today when we saw the first picture of our sweet little cue ball cutie, Wan Chun Miao.  It’s difficult to believe how quickly the years have been passing, my goodness she’s a little young lady of nine already and so grown up!  It’s difficult to remember a time before Maisie was with us.  Our A-Maisie-ing Maisie Miao Miao is the best

Maisie has never been much of a Halloween lover and trick-or-treating hasn’t held much appeal, but this year she decided that she wanted to go trick-or-treating with her friend Sarah and she actually wanted to dress up and match her.  So, presenting two of the most adorable little minions…Minion Sarah and fart-gun toting Minion Maisie!  The girls had fun going through Sarah’s

How can my wee little Maisie Miao Miao be nine already???  Seriously the years are passing much too quickly for this Mama!  I will say though, I love the young lady my girl has become.  She is a sweet, kind-hearted, loving, fun, smart, talented, strong-willed and all-around fabulous kid and though she can sometimes drive me batty, I wouldn’t change one little thing about my

Yesterday, Maisie competed in her fourth meet of the season. Sarah, Taylor & Maisie ready for the meet to begin.  The USA level 5 & 6 girls were in the same session so Maisie was delighted to hang with her friends. Laura, Jema, Emma, Sydney, Alexis, Madison & Maisie.  NMGC’s USA level 6 team, ready to compete.   Overall Maisie had a good meet and other than her

Today Maisie competed in her very first optional meet as a USA level 6 gymnast.  This was a huge three-day meet with over 1400 gymnasts.  Maisie definitely was nervous but she still was my A-Maisie-ing girl!! Maisie and her teammates, Laura, Jema, Alexis, Emma, Madison & Sydney, ready to compete. That’s my A-Maisie-ing Maisie warming up on bars.   A very good start to her

Seven years ago today we saw the first picture of our sweet little cue ball cutie, Wan Chun Miao.  Our Maisie Miao Miao is the best daughter we could have ever hoped for and the love of our lives.  We love you sweet Maisie! No real celebrating today as Maisie and I have both came down with colds and she has a good case of laryngitis starting.  Maisie did though get a nice

So here we are again, another birthday for my sweet little Maisie Miao Miao.  And once again I’m feeling that the years are passing too  quickly, I mean seriously, where have they gone?  Each year I say the same thing, that it seems like just a short time ago when we saw her cue ball cutie face for the first time and she was just a scared little 14 month old being placed in our

The days just seem to fly by with so little time available to sit down, relax and just work on a blog post… so weeks pass without any updates.  Trying to play catch up a bit so here we go.  I have spent quite a bit of time watching Maisie at her practices, I just love seeing what she’s working on, how she’s progressing and of course how much she loves gymnastics.  I’ve taken a

Three years ago I took Maisie for a day at the apple orchard and we had so much fun and wanted to return but it wasn’t until this past weekend that we made it back.  To avoid the crowds we headed out early so to arrive just after they opened which worked out perfectly as it was cool and gorgeous and Maisie was able to do all the activities she wanted before it got busy.   It’s

Maisie started her weekend Friday morning with a visit to Tony to get all the kinks worked out of her back and body.  All the hours she puts in at the gym take their toll and Tony’s great at making everything feel loose and good again.  Saturday began with gymnastics practice and then Maisie spent some time tapping and singing her recent favorite song, The Cup Song from Pitch Perfect

Maisie is just loving school and already has had a fun project to do and present.  Maisie adores presenting projects and through her school years has done quite a few.  In first grade she presented as Abe Lincoln, then sang her way through her Water Cycle presentation and finally baked and ate her way through her Landform presentation.  In third grade Maisie did a Timeline

I have to say, Maisie's first two weeks of school wiped me out. Wow is it ever difficult to get back into the school routine after three months off. Maisie's loving school, being back with her classmates and she's especially loving being a fourth grader in Miss. Vicki's class. It's going to be a great year.   Maisie's done better than I in getting back into the groove but a week and

How can it be that my wee little Maisie Miao Miao started fourth grade today? Just a few months ago she was my sweet little cue ball cutie. Each year when the school year begins I look back through the blog and after seeing all her first day of school pictures I’m just going to have to accept that my little Maisie Miao Miao is growing up…much faster than I’d like. Oh and yes, she’s wearing the

Saturday morning Maisie competed at a home meet, Summer Fun Fest.  Maisie competed as a “new” USA level 5.  Maisie was the only level 5 from her gym and she competed against three other (and much older) girls from another gym.  Maisie was quite stressed during warm-up but when it came time to compete she did an A-Maisie-ing job. This was a score out meet for Maisie and she easily

After three full months away from school, Thursday morning Maisie returned, but just for open house...she doesn't begin class until Monday. Maisie was happy to see all her pals again, especially her classmate Rose.   Maisie was also excited to see her new (yet old as it's the same room she was in for second grade) classroom and to finally be in Miss. Vicki's class. Maisie loves

Summer seems to have flown by, I can't believe that this coming Monday my wee little Maisie will start fourth grade! Maisie's looking forward to returning to school and seeing her friends again, three months away from them is a long time.   Last week and this week Maisie has had a crazy schedule at the gym. Monday, Wednesday & Friday were 6 hours per day spilt between morning and

Just when I thought that Maisie's back-to-back play dates were over, we managed to sneak another set. Monday morning after Maisie's gymnastics practice her friend Sarah picked her up at the gym and the girls got to play for a few hours. When I picked Maisie up mid-day, the girls were out on the driveway drawing a chalk gym. Do you think they like gymnastics much?   Tuesday we met some

Maisie has really enjoyed her Friday morning runs at the gym with the optional girls. This past Friday was the end of summer session so her last Friday morning run. Not all the girls are disappointed to see the end of summer runs but Maisie wishes they'd continue.   Friday morning my Angel Trumpet was almost in full bloom so Maisie checked out the flowers.   At one

Summer here in Georgia is almost at an end, well summer break that is, I'm sure that the summer heat will continue well into September. Our county, as well as most of the surrounding ones, have the children already back in school or starting this coming week. Maisie doesn't resume school until August 19th so while most of her friends will be spending their days in class, she'll still enjoy a

Maisie's really enjoying all the play dates she's had with her friends this summer. She had a whole list of friends she wanted to play with this summer and we've been working our way through, doing pretty good especially as summer break is almost over. Maisie had another wonderful weekend having play dates with two more of her friends from the gym. Early Saturday morning Maisie went over to

During the school year Maisie has very little free time, between school and six days a week at the gym, getting together with her friends is quite difficult. During the summer I try my best to make play dates as often as possible and with all the friends she misses seeing. Maisie especially misses her old level 4 teammates. Though she sees them at the gym, she neither practices nor has the

In the past five days Maisie has spent twenty five hours at her gym, it's her home away from home and I think her favorite place to be. If she could spend everyday there or even move in, I think she would. On Monday I saw a bit of her practice where she was working on forward rolls to press handstands. I'm always amazed by her strength and control.   I am also amazed by her speed

Maisie is missing her friends in SLC, waking up in the morning and having playmates right in the house was a real treat for my girl. Though she's missing her SLC friends she was excited and happy to return to her gym and gymnastics teammates. We returned home late Wednesday night and Thursday and Friday Maisie spent her days in the gym. Saturday Maisie's teammate Sarah came for a play date.

Very, very early last Wednesday morning Maisie & I headed to the airport for our flight to visit friends in Salt Lake City.   Though they hadn't seen each other since our last visit in 2010, Maisie, Eliza & Sollie were all smiles & hugs and happy to see one another. Maisie and I were spending the week at Tiffany's home and immediately after all the welcome hugs, the kids happily

Ok, this is my second time writing this post as last night I wrote the entire post and just mere moments before I was ready to hit the publish button my computer died. The battery won't charge and the the computer won't even work just plugged in. I'm thinking that it may be the actual plug in the back of the unit but I'm not a computer person. I'm currently visiting friends in Salt Lake City
