No-No is becoming such the little person already. She is really into all sorts of music and movies. She loves that she has something portable to watch and listen on and to go with that she got the cool kid's skullcandy headphones at FlyMode.com. I love how she's so many personalities in one kid. She's a princess, a tom boy, a mini me, a cool kid/socialite...it's fun to watch her grow up, so long as it's not too fast lol.

I really wasn't sure what to expect when we moved here. Being that we're in the flats, I expected cold but certainly not what we have right now. Some days are really nice in the high 60s and some barely make it up to the 30s. I'm really glad that we bought some winter gear before we came out, just in case. The one thing I wasn't thinking of is gloves. No-No has one decent pair but if she loses those I'm not sure what we'll do since the ones sold are either heavy snow or flimsy light ones. I though about getting CozyWinters.com heated gloves for myself but I hardly go out lol. Next time I think I'll be slightly more prepared.

I've recently been in touch with a couple of people that I went to school with, waaay back lol. It's really interesting to see what everybody's become thus far. I never would have guessed that one would be a singer/performer in a band and the other would be a producer/artist. I love watching their conversations too. They are always talking about music, songs, and equipment. They had this awesomely long talk about all sorts of mixers and things, like the motu 828 mk3, and how they function. Apparently this one plugs into your computer and you can connect all of your equipment into it and it doesn't give any sort of feedback or background noise, then you can take it with you and use it as a stand-alone mixer with all sorts of effects too. I know nothing about this stuff but it's interesting to learn what things do that I don't know about. I would think that it's a pretty cool thing to have something so portable be so versatile because of all of the other equipment you have to haul along too. now I just have to see what these guys sound like lol.

My stepdaughter has really been into wishing for instruments lately. Her latest additions to her list have been a guitar and violin. We aren't really sure if we should spend the money and get professional quality instruments yet so I think we'll be going with toy ones for now. If she decides she really likes them then we'll see about getting her lessons. I'm sure she would really like guitar, I've always wanted to learn guitar but never had the opportunity. The only drawback would be that we would have to get two so No-No could have the same lol.

I'm not really sure how to feel about it, even yet, but I'm pregnant! I've thought long and hard about having more kids, mainly because I already have one who's a teenager, and came to the conclusion that if I could possibly have one more, I would. It hasn't been easy to get pregnant except for my first one and I wasn't at all sure I could ever have another. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we will be welcoming a new addition to the family later this year :)

Yes-Yes has gotten well into music lately, which I'm rather surprised with since he's only listened to what's trendy up until now. He's also been looking at MP3 players and such because all of a sudden his iPod is old. Well, it kind of is but...that's beside the point lol. He told me he wants some Dr Dre Headphones because the sound better than a lot of the other things he's tried that his friends own. This stuff I know nothing about, I have my cheap earbuds and they seem to work fine for me! LOL

I visited www.direct.tv and uprgraded our television package. There was a concert that was playing in my home town ( two thousand miles away) and it was going to be televised. My husband and I had ticket to go to the concert, but he ended up not being able to get off of work, so we gave the tickets to my brother-in-law. It is actually our favorite band that was playing. My husband has seen them about forty times, and I have seen them about twenty five times. He started seeing them when he was in high school. The funny thing is, we aren’t even the band’s biggest fans. They actually have a really big following. They tour most of the year, even though they have been touring for the last twenty five years, that is most of my lifetime. Watching the concert on television was actually the best thing we could have done. We got to feel like we were sitting in the front row and got to drink beer that didn’t cost five dollars a piece!

I've always been obsessed with new products, the problem is that I don't have the money to try every single one I'd like to more often than not. The latest thing I've been into is eye lash growth things. I've always envied the girls who have long and thick lashes while mine are rather short and incredibly thin. What has really helped me pick the ones I want to try is by reading eyelash growth reviews. Reviews are always helpful and in this case they can really save you money.

I always thought it was interesting when I'd see people furnish their basements on TV. It wasn't until I was older that I understood the need for a comfortable area underground out here. I've seen lots of shows over the years of people redesigning and decorating their lower lairs from basement tiles to heated flooring. Now of course I wish I had one, or any one. I'm hoping that as long as I live here I never have to encounter a tornado but the warnings still come and we really don't have a decent place to go. The place we are in now is temporary and we just needed the room as quickly as we could get it, but the next place is definitely going to have its own basement!

So I was lucky enough to get one of my gifts early this year from my BF. Because we're going back home for Christmas and he knows that I'll have to do more cleaning and organizing while we are there, he decided to pick me up a scanner software to make some of the paperwork more portable for me. I thought that was awesome considering the amounts of it I have back there lol. I saved so many things, some I have to and some...not so much. Most of the "not so much" is the kids' artwork and such, but even that I've narrowed down over the years (especially since I had another one). I'm really excited to put it to use.

My BF has this friend who lives next door, where we used to live, and he is referred to as "the hobbit under the stairs" lol. This is for good reason seeing as though he rarely comes out other than to go to work and pretty much sits at his computer when he is home. This makes it tough to get him a decent gift considering I'm not sure he would like anything non-computer related. I do have to get him something though, he does a lot for us, mainly driving us to and from the airport that is an hour away and he's done a lot of that this year. I'm thinking I might get him some camacho triple maduro cigars because he smokes and well, like a good cigar LOL. Hopefully I find something he'll like other than chocolates...although, he really does love his chocolate...

So I found it rather amusing when I looked at the forecast the other day, it read "wintery mix". Okay, we do not have anything of the sort where I come from and I've never even heard the term before. All I could keep thinking was that it sounded like spring mix, you know, the garden greens? LOL! So today was the mix day and of course, it's a mixture of snow and rain, which I knew. I can't wait for tomorrow to be over so I can head out to CA and back to the near 60 degree weather! The winter here has not been well for my skin and my body seems to be going haywire lol.

Every morning when I get up to get ready for work I will make my coffee, put my frozen waffle in the toaster and flip on the TV. I will always tune my http://www.directstartv.com/localchannels/Louisiana/N/New-Orleans/ channel on my TV to ABC so I can watch Good Morning America for a few minutes before I have to get in the shower. The crew is made up of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopolis, Sam Champion, Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott. I like how they can bring you the news and stories of the day in a fun and friendly way as opposed to the way that the news is delivered on my local morning news. I also like to see what the weather is doing around the nation and then to take a look at what it is doing where I am. I like how they have a mix of ages of the anchors so they aren’t all a good bit older than me and they are all relatable to all ages. I start every morning watching their show and I get a little sad on Sundays when they aren’t on my TV.

I have a friend that works in the medical field and I really wanted to get her something for Christmas, she does a lot for me. I was going to go for something personal, but I think she'd really like another set of scrubs to add to her collection. I came across http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/ but again, that's for men.

The other issue I have is that I'm not sure what size of medical scrub pants she wears, that makes things rather difficult. It's pretty fun to see how many different styles and types of scrubs she has. Who would have thought that there are so many different kinds out there!

I have quite a few friends back home that work in some form of construction. It's funny because most of them are asking for things like new coveralls and things. If I had the extra cash I'd pick them up some carhartt coveralls at dungarees.net because they have really good prices. This year is so tight though, and we're having trouble getting what we wanted to get the kids as it is. I'm hoping everything works out fine, but it's really difficult to say that thus far.

Our yard will be turned on its end soon, the landlord is wanting to put in a watering system of some kind. It will be nice to finally have some decent grass for the kids to play on, but until then they won't be able to go out and play on it for a while. It's come to a halt because he's waiting on some sort of amt pumps or something, which is fine for now since the kids can still go out and play. I just hope he gets around to it before the ground freezes, at least he didn't start digging before he knew something was wrong.

Work has been going to complete and total crud lately. I have no idea how I'm going to feed the family and be able to afford the rest of their Christmas presents either. This is where working for myself has serious drawbacks. I've been used to this happening at times during the year, but never where things are completely drying up. It's sad and frustrating because I feel like I've hit the end of the road and there's no where to turn anymore. I really hope I'm wrong!

I never know what to get Yes-Yes anymore. With him being a teen, things are either incredibly expensive or it's something I know nothing about. Right now he's into longboards, games, and girls, there's not a lot to go on there LOL. Something he's always enjoyed is fruit and chocolate, so I thought that he would really like some chocolate dipped strawberries I saw on this site. They have great prices for gifts for sons like him, where you aren't quite sure to get. I'm sure he's like a stocking stuffer of cake pops too, so the choice might be slightly difficult. I might get a bunch just for me because I know that there won't be anything left for me to try LOL.

Big Changes

It's been quite an adjustment living in Kansas. The school year is still scheduled for the farming families, even though there aren't that many children in the schools here from those types of families, and it's common to see all sorts of big machines around. Instead of a bunch of used cars around, you'll see things like bobcats for sale. Coming from a suburb more like a city than a small town, it's very different. It's funny when people will ask where I'm from because the comment is normally, "wow, it's pretty different coming here, isn't it?" Yup, it sure is! I'm liking it for right now, but we'll see how much I'll love the freezing winter coming up LOL.

Sometimes I miss working in retail a lot and I've thought about going back just to work a sale or two. The bad thing about doing that is that I'd be working on commission and I wouldn't have the clientele that I used to, plus I'm sure the POS system has changed a lot and it would take a while to get used to. By the time I'd have it down, the term would be over LOL. I do miss all of that though, the people and the smiles, it was a lot of fun to make someone's day.

This year things are a little different and for the first time I didn't have to carve the pumpkins! My BF was awesome and did each of the girls' and they came out great. He's not quite as into it as I am, where one year I started seeking out all sorts of random things to use, like wholesale dental supplies. It's fun to see what you can do with all sorts of different tools. One year I found out that manicure tools work out really well too lol. I'm so glad to finally have someone in my life to share things with, rather than have to take them all on myself.

Small Town Feel

Living in a smaller town has a totally different feel than back home. There I lived in a smallish town too, but the area is so over populated you really wouldn't know what the actual size is. What's really nice about here is that the people are a lot friendlier than the ones back home. There have been quite a few times where people have seen us walking home, loaded down with bags and have called out to see if we'd like a ride home. I'm sure with that kind of attitude, you probably could have emergency road service in no time at all, where as back home it would be a lot of luck to have someone stop and ask if you needed help. I think I may like it here.

When I found out I was pregnant with DD, it had been so long that so many of the baby products had changed since her brother came along. I was doing a ton of research on things and one thing I wasn't sure about was if I would need a baby monitor. I didn't use one with him but the house we were living in was different. One thing you never know is where you are going to end up in the house with the baby, you can plan it out, but the comfort levels change once the little one comes along. I was really glad in the end that I got one of the best baby video monitors because I ended up all over the house and so did she. I really liked being able to watch her because she was so quiet most of the time and being a light sleeper, going in and checking on her made things slightly tricky.

My back has been hurting so badly lately. I'm thinking that it might be because of our mattress. It's a lot firmer than I'm used to and I've been considering getting either a memory foam mattress or at least a mattress topper of some kind. I don't really mind what we have, but I think having something a little softer would help. We actually would love some sort of adjustable thing, but in the meantime, something like this would be really nice.

This year is rather interesting as far as costume choosing. DD has decided that she'd like to be Rapunzel this year, since her love for "Tangled" and her stepsister has decided on being a mermaid. I'm betting that once DD gets her costume, the other one will be wanting her own dress on top of her mermaid "tail". I'm not really sure how we're going about trick or treating this time around, but I'm betting that the girls will love having each other to go door to door with for a change.
