It's going to be a totally different type of holiday this year. Come to think of it, there have been very few years where it was just another day. This year I'm awaiting the birth of my last child, gained a stepchild, and have my own two separated by about four states. It should be fun all the same though. I'm kind of hoping that my husband finds some deals on jewelry, I would love to have a new necklace or something shiny :)

It's been really fun checking out all of the new things that are out there for babies. I can't wait until we have everything that we need. I think I've finally picked out the crib and bedding, it's the clothes that have me stuck. There is such a lack of cute baby boy things out there that sometimes I wish we were having another girl lol. Oh well, I'll be thankful in the long run.

My inlaws are pretty funny. They just got new laptops and now between the two of them, they have three computers that they don't really know what to do with lol. They normally just go on Facebook and do a few random things aside from email, so I really don't know why they needed more than one more. The got a pretty good deal on what they picked up along with a software bundle for each of them. It's so funny to watch them try and figure things out.

A friend of mine works as an occupational therapist. She loves her job but loves that she wears a uniform even more because she hardly has to wonder what to wear to work each day lol. She does get bored with the plain clothing sometimes and has built up quite a collection of Marcus scrub tops. She likes different styles and patterns so that she doesn't feel like she's wearing the same thing everyday. I don't blame her because I know how bland that can seem especially after a long time of doing it.

When Yes-Yes was young Halloween was already so "store-bought". It wasn't often that you would see many homemade costumes. There is one that stands out in my mind though. There was this little kid who went as a mummy and his parents had gotten some fire hose from RawhideFirehose.com, cut it up, and used that as the linen. I thought that was a really cool idea. Hopefully we can come up with something for the kids, at least once, that they can do themselves to remember.

I've been trying to figure out what to do to get rid of the extra weight after I have the baby, you can never start planning too soon lol. I think I really want to make sure I breastfeed as long as I can, so I'm not sure taking anything would be a good idea. That isn't stopping me from checking out ingredients to things like indigo-3g though. I still have some time to decide what I'll plan for and things always end up changing in the end. Hopefully I'll be able to start quickly though, there's no way I want to stay heavy for too long this time.

It always takes me forever to figure out what to get my uncle when it comes to gifts. This year I think I have it figured out though. He's one of those people that has everything when it comes to something he loves, but I found something I don't think he has. I've seen most but not all of his guitars and I have yet to see any Coffin Cases. It may seem a bit odd since he's not exactly young, but I think he'll enjoy it all the same, considering he wanted or had a hearse when he was younger lol.

My friends and I have been trying to formulate a business plan between us for a while now. With all of us being all over the country, it's been rather challenging to get our schedules to coincide. One thing that we've been looking at is using something like ActConferencing.com web conferencing with our clients and ourselves. There are lots of free platforms of this type, but none of them have a decent way of combining more than one conversation at once, at least with video. We're still in the planning stage, so at least there is still time to work out the kinks.

My family has come and gone, but we're expecting another visitor tomorrow! My mother in law is coming out for my stepdaughter's birthday and it's the first time I'll be meeting her in person. It should be interesting even though I've met her through Skype, but it's a little different since she can't just go home at the end of the day lol. After having a rather off bunch of family members from my ex, this is taking me a little adjusting to because they are actually nice people. Weird, but true. I hope everything goes well!

I never like to miss a good excuse to have a costume party or something along those lines. It's just so exciting to do stuff like that and I really love the opportunity. So of course I wasn't going to miss out of the opportunity to do a Mad Men style party for the show's new season premiere. I had a vintage dress in my closet that I'd been waiting around to wear for a while for an occasion like that. So I knew it would be just perfect for this. Once I mentioned it to my friends they all got pretty excited about it.

While I was looking online for some Mad Men inspired party decorations I ran across a link to site about debt counseling. I knew that it would really help for me to look through it and apply that to our family, so I'm going to.

It wasn't too hard to find some ideas for party favors because it seems like it wasn't such a novel idea to have a Mad Men party. Lots of people were doing it, but I was glad because it just made it all the much easier for me.

It's always fun to see the pictures people post on Facebook, especially of their children. My friends in Texas post pictures almost daily of their daughter for everyone and she is just adorable. They recently bought a house with a pool and had a hard time finding what kind of security they wanted. They just posted a picture of it and it's great to see that they finally found a pool fence dallas company that had what they were looking for. It's getting hot out this way already and having a pool but not being able to use it safely wouldn't be too fun.

The girls have decided they now want cowboy boots. Of course they can't just be any boots, they have to be sparkly pink ones lol. I'm not sure if that's something that's totally realistic but it would be something fun for them. They come out with some of the strangest and random requests sometimes, it's really funny to see what they come up with.

My friend started a great little business for herself making custom t-shirts. I've thought about doing the same thing but definitely didn't have the capital she did to get my own shop but I thought it would have been something really fun to do. I toyed with the idea of using one of those online sites that let's you design and sell your own but I'm not really as artistic as I'd like to think lol. I think that would be a great home business for moms who enjoy designing things.

Something I already miss after having moved is going outside. It sounds silly because I mean, why wouldn't I go outside? Well, either it's too hot or too cold. It's hard to catch the time of day where the weather is just right enough to go out and not feel one extreme or the other sometimes. With this I've lost a lot of my color, which isn't something I'm used to being a Californian lol. I thought about finding a tanning supply and getting a few products that would bring some color back (and not turn me orange lol) to make myself feel a little better. I might just have to because I'm not sure I'm so pleased being as dull as I'm getting.

So I've been thinking, and I think I'm going to take a little bit of my money and buy gold bullion from Golden Eagle instead of just putting it into a savings account. I think those are great but having to pay taxes on the interest is really pretty lame considering it's my money to begin with that I'm paying to have. It really just doesn't make any sense to me. If I were to invest in gold, not only would I not have to pay the interest, there would be a greater chance of having a larger return too. I need to start being smarter about how I handle my finances.

I have been incredibly good this year and have been holding onto my tax refund longer than I ever have. Mostly it's because I'm short a gig and I'm not sure when I'll find another lol. I did splurge a little bit and bought myself a few things that totally weren't necessary. I think everybody needs to do that once in a while. The good part is that I am able to put the money I've spent back and not feel like I've done a whole lot of damage lol. Hopefully things pick up again soon and I'm back to where I was.

My husband says I watch too much direct TV, but I don’t understand what the problem is. He is in the Army, so it is hard for me to have a career since we move around all the time. I’ve had jobs in the past, but I never get promoted because my boss always knows that I am a miliary spouseand that I will eventually have to move. I know my husband wants me to be happy and he thinks that sitting home and watching TV is a waste of my talents, but I don’t know what else he wants me to do. I would like to start a business and work full time, but I am scared that I will put a lot of work into something and then have to give it up because we are moving again. I exercise five times a week, and I go out with my friends, but when I am home I can’t help depending on TV to keep me busy. I also spend a lot of time on the internet reading gossip and news sites, which is equally annoying to him. I hope he will get over it soon and stop criticizing me, because I am in this position because I sacrificed my career for his.

When I was little I used to love playing on the porch at my grandparents' house. It was a pretty big one with a cement surface so there was lots we could do out there. For a while my grandpa used to garden in planters, he would BBQ our Thanksgiving turkeys, and I had my pool set up during the summers, it was quite multipurpose. There was this Adirondack rocking chair that he had there that I would love to curl up in with my cat too. I really miss that house but at least I have more than plenty of pictures for memories.

I remember that when I was little, I used to always wanted to have a big enough career so that I could have my own business cards. I don't know what it is about those things but they seemed to be a symbol of importance to me lol. Anyways adding to that fantasy, I was really floored to see that business cards now can be made out of plastic! That is SO awesome! I can't imagine how much I would have tried to beg my mom to buy me some business cards plastic so that I could show off how neat I was LOL.

It's no secret that I've always wanted to start my own business. Sure I have my "day job" but it's not exactly what I've wanted to do all my life lol. There are lots of things that have been tossed around in my mind but I've never settled on just one and many of them can't be integrated easily. One of the things that has held me back too is financing. I haven't been able to find the capital to start something and then there's all of the other expenses along with that. I've heard about merchant financing but that doesn't really do any good if I haven't made up my mind anyway lol. One day I'll know and it will all fall into place.

I absolutely love this show. I think the spin on the idea of a "fairytale" show has been executed quite well and the different twists they have put into it turn out quite interesting. They have included a host of characters that interact in a whole new way. I can't wait to see how this show works out and hopefully it lasts long enough for us to see it.

I don’t like for my kids to watch a lot of television. I’d much rather they play outside or read a book. Sometimes those aren’t the best options and then television is a necessary evil—like when it’s freezing cold or raining or the day before the library books are due and everything has been read. With our http://www.directstartv.com/ I at least have options for fun and educational programming when I need half an hour to get something done. Just the other night we discovered a show none of us had seen before—Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. The show is designed to familiarize children with Chinese American culture. We eat Chinese food at our house on a regular basis so I thought it was neat for our kids to see that there is more to the Chinese American culture than just food. Plus, with the Chinese New year, something they had talked about at school, it was interesting for them to learn more about the Chinese culture and build on what they learned at school!

No-No is becoming such the little person already. She is really into all sorts of music and movies. She loves that she has something portable to watch and listen on and to go with that she got the cool kid's skullcandy headphones at FlyMode.com. I love how she's so many personalities in one kid. She's a princess, a tom boy, a mini me, a cool kid/socialite...it's fun to watch her grow up, so long as it's not too fast lol.

I really wasn't sure what to expect when we moved here. Being that we're in the flats, I expected cold but certainly not what we have right now. Some days are really nice in the high 60s and some barely make it up to the 30s. I'm really glad that we bought some winter gear before we came out, just in case. The one thing I wasn't thinking of is gloves. No-No has one decent pair but if she loses those I'm not sure what we'll do since the ones sold are either heavy snow or flimsy light ones. I though about getting CozyWinters.com heated gloves for myself but I hardly go out lol. Next time I think I'll be slightly more prepared.

I've recently been in touch with a couple of people that I went to school with, waaay back lol. It's really interesting to see what everybody's become thus far. I never would have guessed that one would be a singer/performer in a band and the other would be a producer/artist. I love watching their conversations too. They are always talking about music, songs, and equipment. They had this awesomely long talk about all sorts of mixers and things, like the motu 828 mk3, and how they function. Apparently this one plugs into your computer and you can connect all of your equipment into it and it doesn't give any sort of feedback or background noise, then you can take it with you and use it as a stand-alone mixer with all sorts of effects too. I know nothing about this stuff but it's interesting to learn what things do that I don't know about. I would think that it's a pretty cool thing to have something so portable be so versatile because of all of the other equipment you have to haul along too. now I just have to see what these guys sound like lol.
