For a few months now, I’ve been on the hunt for vintage/unique/pretty plates to hang on the walls of my kitchen. I love displaying items such as plates as art pieces. Not long ago, I shared a few of these plates on my blog, and now I share the finished product here!

I know that the concept of hanging plates on a wall isn’t a new one, but I like the idea of hanging them staggered or in clusters to give a less uniform, more interesting look. I upped the sentimental nature of this idea with a few of my Great-Grandmother’s china pieces added in.

I found this on Pinterest and thought it was such an adorable idea. I made some for Dustyn’s Preschool Teachers. I put a little drawing from Dustyn and a note from me in the cup along with the little packets to add to water. They really loved them. If you go here they have where you can print the little flags.

I love that this makes a great teacher gift and it is not that expensive. Plus the teachers can you the cups for a long, long time.

I have never really been a huge fan of board games.

I know, I know, this admission probably makes me sound like the worst mother ever.

But, whatever.

I didn’t like them when I was younger. And I don’t like them now.

The kids cheat and fight. Dumb Dad cheats and trash talks. It’s hard to find something that the four year old AND the ten year old can enjoy. And they take FOREVER to end. Unless I cheat too. And,while I’m not above that, I find it an exercise in excess creativity I don’t really have.

Maybe it’s just the type of board games we’ve been playing?!

Recently Blue Orange Games sent us Spot it.

It is a symbol matching game that for some reason my kids, my husband, and I all love to play!

You can’t cheat. There’s nothing to fight over. And it’s appropriate for every member of our family, from the 4 year old on up (although, technically, the game is geared towards kids 7 & up, he is a pretty savvy 4 and has had no problem having a blast with us and this game).

Jayden recently received another care package from Peter Rabbit Organics, which was a pleasant surprise!
