I am (slowly) going green. I'd say my current shade is lime. I'm almost there, but it's hard to go completely green for some people. One of the main reasons is cost. That's right, usually when you see the terms "green" and "natural" on a label, that means $$$$. Well not for Ecostore USA, where there motto is "No Nasty Chemicals." Feel free to check out the website and all the details. I'll wait here.

Back? Good. Now I can tell you about the two great products that I got to try. First, I have always had a hard time finding any all natural dishwasher rinse aid. When I do find it, the price is absolutely insane. So I decided to go for it. Well, first let me say that I use phosphate free dish detergent so now I'm happy to report that my dishwasher is green (it's actually a really gross old shade of cream, but you know what I mean). So I tried the Lemon Rinse Aid. The smell was nice and I did notice MUCH less white stuff on my dishes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 302px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_cG78s7xDHCQ/SfFHy6yZxDI/AAAAAAAAAFo/LW28w2jlofI/s400/March+2009+164+with+border.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328118774255698994" />

I also tried the Dishwash Liquid. It was gentle on my hands (I have really dry skin because I'm always washing my hands or the dishes that I can't FORCE into the dishwasher LOL). I love the picture on the front too. Very cute label for sure. I REALLY enjoy the citrusy smell and the fact that it's "super concentrated" which is a fancy way of saying a little goes a long way.

So anyway, here's the best part!!! I'm doing a contest. Email me your best tip for going green. The best tip will win a $25 gift certificate to use on the product(s) of your choice at Ecostore USA. So get in a green state of mind, and start emailing me!!

(best submission for a tip on green living will be published on this blog when I announce the winner.)

Snuggle Creme Coupon

So I got an email a while ago, and considering the fact that I (heart) coupons, it intrigued me. The wedding was gorgeous, everything I could've imagined (and more!) and we were part of a popular television show which made it even more special and that much more fun! Our big day was March 2, 2008 and we're coming up on 8 months of wedded bliss! We're planning on hitting Vegas for the big one year anniversary since we did Mexico for our honeymoon. Leah is 3 1/2 now, doing wonderfully, and learning new stuff every day. She's writing her name, and will be starting preschool next September. I decided to wait for a few reasons- #1- the cost is outrageous. Just because we can afford it, doesn't mean we should pay an arm and a leg when it's free when she turns 4 (Florida offers a VPK- Voluntary Pre Kingergarten program at age 4). #2, I'm a chicken lol. I'd miss her too much!

Enjoy some of my favorite shots from the wedding. The shot of Tim, Leah and I is literally the only one of the three of us. Our Christmas was great. Spent time at my mom's. Tim got me a new Coach bag and a new digital cam and I want to kick his butt for it but I can't because the purse is so gorgeous. Anyway, that's not why I logged in for the first time in eons to actually write something. I actually was just having random thoughts and wanted to get them out.

Ever since I've moved to Florida, I feel like I am losing touch with the life I lived back in Jersey. Not that I want to be the person I was then because I don't. I was young, stupid, and reckless. Tim and I got back together, I got pregnant, and we lived happily ever after. But I mean I am losing touch with the great friends I had back there. My two best friends in the world and I barely speak. I don't even know why! I am busy with life, they are busy with life. But we honestly hardly ever call each other. We haven't seen each other in a REALLY long time. The last time I was in Jersey was a few months ago but I was literally up there for the weekend because my aunt passed away and it was a rough time. My dad's family is tight. Ever since I was little we did Sunday dinners at Grandma's and I can't remember not feeling close to that side of my family. When Aunt Francescina died it was hard for us all.

Anyway, back on my best friends. I miss them so much and I feel like I am totally losing touch with them. We grew up together literally from birth- my mom and thier mom (they are sisters) were best friends since they were 13. I remember a while back Tim and I were searching Myspace to see who we could find. Neither of us have a myspace because we don't want to be found by anyone LOL- but on occasion we like to search just to see who's there. Anyway, I was showing Tim one of their Myspace's and then we went to Kristen's (yes, we have the same name!) and she had cut her hair. And I didn't even know it! It seems so silly to have gotten sad but there was a time when we couldn't go pee without the other one knowing about it. Then with Taryn- I never know anything about her love life because I'm not there to see who she's dating- I don't know who "fireman" is or who "focker" is, really because I'm not in NJ to make fun of them or bash them with her when they fuck her over.

Kristen and Frank (Frank's her boyfriend of a long LONG time) and Tim and I had a longstanding Friday night dinner every week while we were still living in Jersey. I actually went into labor (without knowing it) on one of our "date nights." We hung out and had some really fun times and it was really great. But now we're here (which was our choice, I know) but I miss everyone. I never thought our friendships could suffer because of the distance because they were so strong. Tim hasn't kept many of his friends. He still talks to maybe 2 of them but they didn't remain close at all. I think to myself every time he talks to the one who was supposed to be his best friend that I feel badly for Tim because he's basically lost his best friend. Then I realized today that maybe I lost mine too? I don't want it to be that way! I love my best friends or I wouldn't be calling them my BEST FRIENDS. But I don't know how to make it the way it used to be. I know it will never be the same because I can't move back there and I'm pretty sure they aren't moving here just for me (but it would be NICE, right!?). I miss my friends. I really don't have anyone here that I am as close to as I was to them. Aside from Tim of course. Tim is my best friend in the world, as it should be- but I miss my best GIRL friends in the world. I don't want to one day wake up and be at that point where we feel like we are strangers to each other. I love them too much for that to happen. I guess I have to try harder. I think I'm going to go write some good old fashioned letters.
<img width='1' height='1' Well I got an email from the founder, Karen Jashinsky, inviting me to be a VIP at the event. Unfortunately for me, I live in South Florida so I cannot attend today. If you do live in California and have teenagers who are looking for a really cool place to get (or stay) fit and have a good time doing it, you should really check Energy Rocks '07 out. I truly wish there was something like this when I was a teenager. Kids can take classes in Budokon, Hip-Hop, Yoga, Spin, Martial Arts, and more, get nutrition counseling,

Programs Available:
Group Training
Private training
Basketball clinics and leagues
Sport specific training
Group Exercise Classes
(check online schedule for updates)

This is just a positive place for kids to meet friends, hang out, study or just to feel comfortable. I surely am hoping there will be one in our area when Leah is old enough to reap the benefits. When we found out that story time didn't start for another week, we thought ok cool, we'll just come back next week. Uh uh. Nope. You gotta be on the list, baby. But seriously there's a waiting list. A waiting list for your kid to go to the library and listen to some lady read them a story. You can't get in unless your "on the list." And not just anybody gets on the list. You gotta know someone. Not really, but apparently we were way behind because we are probably the fifth name down on the other list. The waiting list that is. Yeah. We were wait listed. Don't call us, we'll call you. We can't get past the velvet ropes of our local branch of the library. I'm embarassed that we weren't cool enough. There weren't any bouncers to make eyes at, and I don't think the lady was interested in me so I couldn't come onto her ; ) so we were screwed. I should've said I was with the DJ...

Benefit Cosmetics Contest - Extra. Sephora, Lucky Magazine and Wiliam Morris Talent Agency

Benefit Cosmetics is launching a new brightening face primer called That Gal. To kick of the launch, they have partnered with Extra, Lucky, Sephora and the William Morris Talent Agency to hold a nation wide talent search for "that gal"!

Sephora's nation wide will be hosting a total of six events. There will be a huge kick off party at Sephora in Santa Monica on Friday, Aug.10! If you are local, I'd go check it out!

When you attend an event, you get your "that gal" makeover and then they will ask you to make a 30 second audition tape telling everyone why they should be "that gal".

If there are no local events, you can log on to www.sephora.com/thatgal/ to upload your own video!

What does the winner get? Some totally awesome prizes, that's what. You get a guest hosting spot on Extra, your photo in Lucky Magazine AND on Sephora.com, you get to audition for the William Morris Talent Agency to be represented by them and last (and certainly not least for this Gal) a year supply of Benefit makeup!

I don't know about you, but I think I will be entering! What are you waiting for? Go to the website to find out if there is a local event near you or to upload your video! MOM POWER!

On another note, I have been away for AGES and I am so sorry. I have been planning the wedding- the date is set for March 2, 2008 and I am running myself ragged (and driving my mother and Tim crazy in the process). I promise to try and be good and actually start posting again. I know you probably hate me by now, but I have some really cool news to pass on. Though I haven't been blogging, I have been able to check emails and I got a really cool heads up the other day. Leah Remini (star of The King of Queens- one of my favorite shows- in case you didn't know I have a secret crush on Kevin James- or not so secret ; ) ). will be starring in a webisode series presented by Suave and Sprint just for Moms! I think it sounds like a really cool concept, and I really love Leah Remini (no, our daughter Leah wasn't named after her- just a fun coincidence!), so I'm sure it is going to be hilarious. And guess what? There is a contest involved here.

"Beginning in April, moms across the country will have the unique opportunity to write and collaborate with Hollywood screenwriters to create a series of web-based films starring Leah Remini, best known for her comedic role in the “The King of Queens,” which is completing a successful nine-year run this year. Directed by Peter Lauer, whose directorial credits include “Malcolm in the Middle”, “Arrested Development” and “The Chapelle's Show,” each In the Motherhood webisode will profile the ever-hectic yet always humorous lives of three mom girlfriends.

How To Participate:By Moms, For Moms, About MomsProfessional Hollywood screenwriters will develop the characters and story lines for each of the webisodes, but real moms are the real behind-the-scenes stars. Moms will get the chance to tell their real-life stories by logging onto www.inthemotherhood.com, which will prompt them to sound off about universal experiences all moms share such as “your child's worst public meltdown,” “how to put the ‘me' back in mommy” or “your funniest mother-in-law child-rearing advice.”

Participating is easy – moms literally write out their story in paragraph form and with a few mouse clicks, the story is automatically transformed into a traditional Hollywood script. The online mom community will vote and nominate the best entries, which will then be polished and incorporated into the series of webisodes.

You can visit inthemotherhood.com for the webisodes, information, blogs, games, music, and forums to connect with other moms.
The In the Motherhood web community will launch on MSN April 17 and run through June. The first webisode will air on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 11 and subsequent webisodes will air on May 22, May 29, June 5 and June 12."

Sounds awesome, right? Check out the video below, or hit up In the MotherHood.com for more info and to submit your story!

I suck

I haven't posted in a month! What is wrong with me, you ask? Nothing, except that I am so busy I barely have time to breathe!

Things have have undertaken:

1. My job with my stepdad (which is fabulous and I love working at home)

2. My wedding - the planning thereof and also apparently I have promised myself that I would make about 10 things myself. What was I thinking? Well, I have 11 months. If I start now, I should finish, right? RIGHT??!

3. My mom's birthday cake. I have decided that with no training, making a 2 tiered cake with a shoe made of gumpaste on top is a wonderful idea. I have directions to follow and I am pretty arty and crafty. We shall see how this turns out....I promise to post pictures- no matter what the result.

4. Leah's birthday. The planning thereof- which will be a....Wizard of Oz party. With her extreme obsession, it's a total no brainer. I found Oz cups and plates and such, so I will be using them and adding some green and red balloons, and making that cake as well. Depending on how my mom's cake turns out, I may be doing something simpler than my plan. I won't share my plan until I know if I will be doing it or not.

5. Bridal show- my cousin (and maid of honor!! Mandy!!!) is driving down from NJ very soon to come to Leah's 2nd Birthday and accompany my mother and I to the very first bridal show! I am so excited.

6. I've also been helping my friend Melissa with her wedding favors. They are super cute but I can't give away what they are unless she says it's okay! Her son is Leah's little boyfriend! Well I call him that anyway ; ) Tim hates it!!!

7. I also have several appointments and parties to attend this month, along with many family visitors in and out all month- so don't expect a lot of posting. I do promise to post both cakes when I finish them. (and plenty of pictures of Leah's 2nd Birthday party!!!). Welome to Oz, bitches! Just kidding!

Also, I am trying so hard to get my "other blog" off the ground. Please go take a peek and vote for your favorite bridal jewelry. Beth Devine makes some really sweet pieces and I can't choose!!!

Sexy Lingerie for my Honeymoon! It's your last chance to boss me around or to boss your friends to boss me. LOL. So go boss.

I’ve been meaning to tell the story of how Tim and I met and got together, but never got around to it. Now, thanks to Tasha’s contest, I have the chance. It’s a pretty appropriate time, being that we just got engaged and all. So, onward.

Let’s set the scene. Picture this- it’s a crisp night in September 1999. I’m 17, I don’t have a boyfriend (for the first time in a long time), and I do NOT want one. At this point in my young love life, I am fed up with the un-fairer sex. I am with my best friend Emily. We run track together, and are both very crucial legs of the shuttle hurdle relay (I’m the lead anchor and she’s the third leg). It has been decided that it was a fine Friday for a girl’s night out.

“Let’s stop at McDonald’s to get something to eat.” Emily suggests.

I turn my car into the lot. “You always wanna come here because you work here and Paul gives us free food.” I reply.

“You complaining?” She retorts.

“Obviously not. We’re here, aren’t we?” I point out. Just as I pulled into a space, I see Emily’s eyes drift out my driver side window and into a car parked a few spaces away.

“That boy is cute…” Before she can protest, I’m out of the car telling her I’ll go talk to him for her. As I get closer, I see a boy in the passenger side of the guy’s car. I make a mental note that he is really hot, but unfortunately, I do not have a big mouth when it comes to me.

I get to the window of the car and inform the driver, who we later found out was named Monte, that my friend Emily (motioning toward her in my car) thinks he is fine. As it turned out, they knew Paul, our Mc Supplier! We all decided we’d meet up later that night to hang out.

Fast forward about an hour or two and we are all just standing outside of IHOP, trying to decide what to do. (Aside- I still remember what Tim was wearing- a tan Yankee hat, a white t shirt with a tan checkered button up over it and loose khaki pants (cargos, I think). We ended up shooting pool. Emily went and told Tim that I liked his friend Damien, which was NOT the case, obviously.

Eventually, it got back to Tim that I liked him and we had our first date at Midnight Bowling (which I had to sneak out for because my parents were THAT lame). I kissed him, and embarrassed myself by smashing my teeth on his, but somehow he forgave me. We dated for a year and a half. I took him to my senior prom, we were each others “first” a lot of things- first love, first well you know. Anyway, we split up for reasons that make no sense to me now.

Obviously we were meant to be because four and a half years later I saw two of his friends out at the mall, gave them my number to pass on to Tim, and one thing led to another. Turns out the spark never died, and neither did the flame. It’s still burning!!!

Contests, Vote for my lingerie, and My new blog!

Okay, first I want to say that I really would love to have some more opinions on my lingerie, so please if you haven't already, VOTE for a piece of lingerie that will be coming on my honeymoon! So tell your friends, tell your mom (I don't care!), tell your husband, brother, sister- whoever you want. Just get me some votes!

Secondly, my very good friend Tasha is having a contest. So go stop by and tell me hi over there- subscribe to my feed and find out how to enter and what you have to do to win my contest. I promise it is going to be a super hot blog. I'm so excited, by the way, because I GOT MY DRESS!!! No, I'm not telling what it looks like- you'll just have to wait for the wedding pictures to see!! I know, I'm a teasing bitch.

Anyway, I am going to ask all of you to peruse the choices below and DECIDE FOR ME. What piece of lingerie should I get? Post your reply in the comments, or if you prefer, EMAIL ME your choice. All of the lingerie below is at VuAzul.com. And what a great time to check out some sexy lingerie- what with Valentine's Day around the corner! Don't forget, you are REALLY choosing a piece of lingerie that I will be taking with me on our honeymoon (which is undecided as of yet). I will prove that I did, in fact, choose the piece that the readers picked by taking pictures of it's journey on our honeymoon. NO, there will NOT be pictures of me in the lingerie! Maybe a picture of a creature on the bed made from it like I hear they do on cruises- but probably not because I am in no way crafty with unmentionables. again, blogger is a bitch and I am sick of typing the same blurb over and over. I am going to scream! If you have any difficulty getting to Andrea's site or joining her hotlist, email me and I'll direct you. Blame blogger- they suck today. And yesterday.

#1 - White lacy boyshort and cami set

#2 - White bra and panty set with garters

#3 Red flyaway babydoll and panty

#4 - White one piece with garters

#5 - Pink bra and skirted panty set

#6 Gold and black bralette and boyshort set

#7 - Orange lacy bra and panty set

The founder, Andrea Segovia, is a mom like us who decided to provide women with sexy and different lingerie that she imports from South America. Here, in her own words is her background and why she decided to open up Vu Azul:

"I am a South American, Native to Uruguay. I came to the US about 6 years ago I have 2 baby girls. Fiorella 1/12 and Sofia 3 months. They make me sooo happy! Here's something interesting that most people have never heard about. I drink tea from a Gourd everyday. I have drank it my whole life. It is a little custom that South Americans have carried on for a long time. It helps me stay in shape and I got my American husband hooked on it too:) now he can't get enough of it! Oh and my little 1 year old loves it. I have even caught her eating it! My first business was actually started with my husband, it's a little tea shop in cyberspace where anyone around the world can find herbal remedies including the one I am talking about here which is called yerba mate. The reason I decided to start a lingerie business is because even though most people think that South America is really poor and behind the times of the US, South America actually has uniquely different styles than anything available here."

If you would like to have the opportunity to shop at her exclusive site- simply use the opt in form below to sign up for her "hot list" and gain access to shop on her site. BUT- he really needs new sneakers (and expressed a STRONG desire for me to get him some for Valentine's Day) so I'm okay with that. He never gets anything for himself. I try to pick him up something here and there to make him feel good- but I think I miss the mark usually. The other day, this came in the mail for Tim. Urth Skin Solutions for Men was nominated as a finalist for MenEssentials Consumer's Choice Grooming Awards for "Best Shave Cream," "Best Face Wash," "Best Face Scrub," "Best Face Moisturizer,' and "Best Product Line." I figured, how can I miss? Tim is as much of a product whore as I am (if not MORE- shhhh!) and he loves trying new things- especially for his skin because he loves products that make shaving easy, reduce bumps, and keep his skin clear. At first, he didn't want to try the face scrub. Why? Because it is green. You'd think a man would love green face stuff? Well he did try it after I assured him that, yes, it was supposed to be green because it has seaweed in it, and seaweed is good for the skin. He was very happy with how it dealt with his blackheads. He liked the face wash too because it smells great and got rid of any oil. The only thing he wasn't totally thrilled with was the shave cream. He prefers a shave gel that he can see through because he shaves precise lines on his "pipeout" (the jaw framing "chin strap"). He has a SUPER thin one that he gets TONS of compliments on. I hate facial hair, but he works it something damn sexy. So if your man loves shave cream-this is still a wonderful product.

Anyway, just wanted to pass Urth on to you ladies as possible Valentine's Day gifts for your man, or to you men reading as possible treats for yourself, separately or in a kit. What are the key ingredients?

********************************************

Now on to the RING PICTURES!!!!

It took a LOT for my camera to actually take a decent picture of my engagement ring for some reason- and the picture I ended up with isn't so great. Anyway- here it is- FINALLY AS PROMISED!

Keep an eye out because I've decided to let you all help me choose and even be the judge and jury on a few aspects of my wedding! It's the chocolate that actually has little bubbles in the chocolate so it feels like you're eating more than you actually are. It really does fill you up faster too. I am not joking when I say I am a chocoholic who can eat a 5 lb. bar in 2 days. I only ate 2 pieces and I was satisfied.

It comes in dark, milk, and coffee milk chocolate. Depending on where you are, it might be hard to find it, but there is a store locator on the site. Go check it out if you are so inclined! If you are thinking "I think I saw that on TV"...you probably did because they were on the Food Network when they went to the candy convention.

And what of these beans I speak of? Bada Beans! No, I'm not an obnoxious Italian New Yorker. Okay, so I am Italian and I definitely am obnoxious. But I am not a New Yorker. Anyway...these things are so adorable! I am a sucker for adorable. Coffee drinkers, Starbucks addicts everywhere rejoice. Just drop one of these little "beans" that come in a cute tin (looks like an altoids tin, but smaller) in your hot coffee. No sugar needed (unless of course you drink the mud Tim has been known to make when his mom comes to visit (then you'd need more than one bean)- and even she won't drink any coffee Tim has had a hand in making- it's THAT bad)...Bada Beans come in Mcoy's Dream Vanilla Bean, Hazel's Nutty Hazelnut, and Crazy Carl's Caramel Fudge. I'm a big hazelnut fan (love me some Nutella) and of course, as I said I love chocolate so I was really feeling the caramel fudge. I still love my Starbucks, but for those days when I don't feel like spending a fiver, don't feel like going out, or just want to make my own damn cup of coffee, these definitely do the trick!

Anyway, on another note- I'm going nuts with wedding planning. I think I found my location and I've changed my color scheme about five times already. I was going to do black and hot pink. Then I saw it in "action" in some other people's wedding photos on The Knot, and I didn't like the feel. It kind of reminded me of a prom. But that's just one opinion. But I changed my mind. Now I'm leaning toward chocolate brown (or like a mocha), ivory (vanilla) and light pink. The main color would be ivory (linens, etc.) and the brown would be maid's dresses and minor accents, invites, etc. and the pink would be florals, some accents, favor boxes, etc. But the one problem is that I don't think the maids are very thrilled with the idea of a dark brown dress. I'm lost, I'm new at this. Save me. I need guidance. I need a labotomy. Fuck.

smenita

I wasn't going to do it but I have to. I know we aren't planning on getting married until 2008, but I have to get a jump start. Actually, we are thinking March and that's only a year and 2 months away- and from what I hear March is a very popular month to get married in Florida. I wonder why that is? So I was basically told that if I want to be married in March, I had better get off my ass and book something. That would actually require going places and looking...so that is on the agenda for this week...(HOPEFULLY- provided my mom doesn't get called into work or GASP and God forbid- actually have other things to do besides cater to my wedding whims...) Just kidding, by the way. I'm not that much of a brat. Just a little bit. I solemnly swear to not turn into a bridezilla. And I am going to keep you all apprised as to my wedding planning progress, and even get you all involved. I am not going to start a separate blog, but I have a feeling that sometime in the next few months I may be getting new digs and turning myself into a full blown website, complete with BRIDAL section.

Anyway, just some pictures of Christmas to fill in some space until I have something interesting to talk about...

Oh, before the pictures. I wanted to let you know!!! Exciting news- I am planning on letting you all choose a piece of my lingerie that will come with me on my honeymoon!! Keep an eye out (and spread the word!) for that- it's coming soon! Hey, I'm no slouch- I've been waiting for this damn ring for 2 years. Actually, if you count the fact that Tim and I dated when he was 15 and I was 17, I've been waiting nearly 10 fucking years so cut me a break. I want to tell you my colors so badly, but I'm still a little covetous of them so you'll have to wait until I come back to reality and realize there are other people who have seen colors before me, and who have also (GASP!) put these two colors together.

Pictures-

Peanut butta sandwich, peanut butta sandwich, peanut butta sandwich wit a milk on da side!

It's a toothbrush! Unfortunately, it isn't our Wii, and it isn't my brother's. His friend Eric, who Leah happens to LOVE, got it for Hanukkah. I tried to actually post the video below, but it wasn't centering right and you couldn't see the entire screen, so I'm posting a link. By the way, what a fucking workout- we are SO GETTING ONE if they are ever in stock. The video is a little bit long, but if you want to be able to make fun of me to your best ability, you might just want to watch it all the way through. If not, that's cool. And if you want to get smacked in Wii, come challenge the champion baby! You know you wish you could make cool boxing faces like me ; ) P.S. you can hear Tim in the background laughing at me. This was probably a few hours before he proposed. I got my pink ring, I already bought an issue of Brides magazine, and since the ring is too big I got a ring snuggly thing on it so I get to wear it while I wait for the ridiculous wait for ring sizing to alleviate. I figure if we hit Kay the second week of January, the holiday rush will be nearly over and people won't have started shopping for Valentine's Day yet. I haven't even thought about it yet. And I honestly don't think men will be out shopping for rings that early and getting them sized. Not typical men at least. Real men wait till the last minute!

I promise to post pictures when my camera is charged (right now the battery is deader than dead from all the holiday picture taking). Until then, you'll have to be happy with the story. So we went to my mom's house Christmas day at around, eh- 3ish maybe? Great details, right? Anyway, so we spent some time opening presents there. Leah got a TMX Elmo- which is fucking hilarious, a really cute kitchen set (which she LOVES cooking with), and some other really great stuff from Nana and Pop (that's my mom and stepdad, for those who don't know). My mom and John (my stepdad) got us a gorgeous leather couch. It's the most perfect shade of chocolate brown. She also got us a gift card to the restaurant she works at, the Macaroni Grill. They can also be used at Chili's. The best part is she made a little certificate that says we are entitled to babysitting. Cute, right? I really am lucky to have them! My dad sent us a pretty big chunk of money to get Leah some toys and buy ourselves something. I got Tim a ton of great stuff, including an MP3 player and a bunch of new shirts and CD's. Tim also got me 3 pairs of sneaks- one of which are running. I'm running again, but I have to be careful because of my knees. Anyway- back to the story. So I waited all day (because last year he PROMISED me a ring by this Christmas) thinking that he'd better propose or else. Nothing. I thought it would be at dinner maybe because in the past he had mentioned he'd do it with everyone around, make a speech, get down on one knee....nope. Not dinner, not dessert. So it's like 9 o'clock and we're all sitting around in my mom's living room and foyer. My brother and his girlfriend are on the stairs eating some dessert. I made an awesome banana custard pie, by the way. The crust was too hard, next time store bought cookie crust. Anyway, I went upstairs to get Leah's stuff together and on my way down the stairs I slipped and started bouncing on my ass down the stairs. I must have just missed the bowl and fork, and somehow Heather, my brother's girlfriend managed to get out of the way before my fat ass bounced on top of her and crushed her. I probably fell down about 7 or 10 stairs, but it felt like forever. You know the feeling. Anyway, when I got to the bottom, Tim (who has no ability to hold in laughter) is already laughing. I'm not insulted because I know him, and I start laughing as well. Then everyone joins in (after asking if I was okay). On my way down, I had taken with me: one sparkly pear Christmas pick (was in my mom's stair garland), one bunch of shiny berries (ditto on the location), and several other random decorations haphazardly grabbed at in an attempt to stop myself from falling. Sidenote: I do not remember grabbing at anything. Also, grabbing at Christmas picks DOES NOT WORK. Just FYI.

So we loaded up the car (well Tim loaded, I sat on the floor) and we drove home. Oh, Tim's mom was still with us at this point- she left a few days ago. We got home, Tim got Leah ready for bed, and put her down. At this point, I'm stretched on our new couch, aching all over. Tim's mom is on the loveseat. Tim walked up to me and grabbed my hand and started dragging me off the couch. I grumbled, telling him to leave me alone because I was sore! He never listens, so when he kept pulling, it wasn't suspect. When we got to our bedroom, he sat me on the bed.

"Alright! He's giving me a massage!" I thought.

But alas, there was no massage in my future. He pulled a tiny box from his dresser and took a knee. I asked him for the bow because when I get nervous I say stupid shit. Anyway, he started to unwrap it because for some reason it was wrapped? But anyway, he said,

"So, uh, you wanna....uh- marry me?" he was so nervous it was ADORABLE. Of course I said yes and didn't cry because I refuse to get made fun of, even though I felt the tears in there...then I informed him that he had barely any say in the wedding details. Again, when I'm nervous- can't control the words that come out of my mouth. He said that was fine (because he is fucking awesome) as long as he gets filet mignon and to pick his tux. So that's it. I got my pink ring, like I asked for. I can tell he feels stupid when I show it to people because they don't seem to understand that an engagement ring doesn't have to be a diamond....and when you are kinda strapped for cash, it really helps to be the kind of girl who loves to be different! It got me my ring MUCH sooner than I would have gotten it. And Tim knows it's what I wanted. Maybe in the future when we have more money in the bank, he can get me a diamond for an anniversary or something. But I really don't need it. I got what I want. My ring, my baby and my man! And he's stuck with my ass now!!!!! 2008 wedding, here I come! I already have 2 bridal magazines and several catalogs and samples coming in the mail. Cuz I'm a psycho like that.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday season, and that everyone had a SAFE New Year's Eve. I really thought we'd just stay in this year, but it didn't happen. We ended up dropping by my mom's. I thought we'd leave before the ball dropped, but I ended up drinking an entire bottle of Santa Margherita and my judgement and memory and all time keeping skills were severely altered. Tim stayed stone sober and drove home at about 1ish? See how even that is a question? Needless to say, I was sick all yesterday. Well, not sick. I just felt gross no matter what I did. Anyone have any surefire ways to beat a hangover? Won't help now, but for future reference (though I plan on never drinking again-sound familiar?)? I REFUSE to try that "hair of the dog that bit ya" crap. I can't even THINK about wine. Oh, my stomach just turned a little.

Last Minute Gifts

I'm not done with my Christmas shopping. I thought I'd feel better if I got it out in the open. I don't though. It just makes it more final. I am freaking out. The only thing that actually eased my freak out a little bit was the email I got a little while back from ReadySetHoliday.com. I was given a gift card code to preview this really cool new site presented by Sears, Kmart and Lands End. Anyway, I happily used my gift card code to get some shopping done. You must be wondering how much I spent on shipping to get my shopping done and get the stuff I ordered on time, right? Well I didn't pay for shipping because I ordered it online and went to my local Sears and picked up what I ordered. There are a TON of last minute gifts on Ready Set Holiday that can be picked up at your local Sears. How simple is that? And they guarantee it will be ready in 5 minutes of you getting there.

I'll walk you through what I did. I went to the site, did quite an extensive search for the perfect gifts, found some really great Keds for $2.50!!!!! (but they were out of stock- DAMN), and ended up with a really cute pillow for Leah, a whisk for myself, some stocking stuffers for Tim, and a few other really cute things. It was a little difficult for me to find stuff- I recommend using the search box on the top to find what you are looking for. Then use the "By Person" and "By Shop" sections on the left sidebar as an alternative. It was worth the extra effort because I eventually found some really great stuff. Leah is going to love her pillow- and I will get mine back! (My ulterior motives are revealed).

When I woke up the next morning, I had an email telling me my stuff was ready to be picked up. I printed it out and went to the Merchandise Pickup section of my local Sears. There was a kiosk there (looks like the Target registry computer!) and I scanned the bar code for my order and within like 3 minutes, a guy had come up with my order. Then I was outta there.

And this site isn't going anywhere after the holiday season. You can come back- there's more after the holidays!! Oh, check out the Kidzone- it has coloring pages, games, a Santa countdown, and even e cards! There's also a Mom to Mom section of message boards to get holiday ideas from other moms! No, I'm not getting paid per order- I just was offered the chance to shop for free to tell you what I thought, and I happened to really love the experience. I promise, if I hated it, I'd tell you. Just wanted to give you some options for your last minute shopping. What better way to shop for a last minute gift online without having to pay an arm and a leg for express overnight super shipping?

Anyway, I don't know if I will post before Christmas because like I said, I have shopping to finish, cookies to make, and things to do. But I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and anything else you might be celebrating. I will post as soon as I have my sanity back.

Developmental Toys, Holiday Decor, Newsletters, Tips, Tricks and Magic!!!

I have a few updates. First, my newsletter is almost ready. I am rushing to get it out for the holidays. It's just hectic as hell around here. We put up our tree, got most of the shopping done- but the fact that I have stuff left to do is really driving me crazy. Not to mention that my computer is acting very funny and it's nearly impossible to get anything on the internet done without a struggle and five hours going by (slight exagerration). So I am getting my work done for my stepdad slowly, and it has eaten up my time and blogging has suffered. For that, I truly apologize. I still have no idea if I can comment on anyone's blogs yet. I've gotten lucky with a few. Mostly, I couldn't comment for a long time- and blogger gave me no reply. GRRRRRRRRR. Anyway, when the newsletter is done, I have a funky sign up that I will have in a new post, as well as on my sidebar. Now for the important stuff.

I promised you awesome toys, and I shall deliver. First, the COUPON CODE! What mom doesn't drool for discounts? Visit eBeanstalk and upon checkout, enter code M2 PFT for 10% off. Don't worry, I'm not sending you there uninformed....oh and don't forget to tell 'em I sent you!

If you’re the kind of parent who not only wants your child to have fun, but for them to actually learn something while they’re doing it…you are SO in luck. Have I got the place for you. Take a virtual stroll over to eBeanstalk, where their motto is “planting the seeds that help children grow.” If that isn’t a brilliant motto, I don’t know what is. Do you know what else is brilliant? Having toys selected by a panel of experts that cover every asset of development – from emotional development to language to imagination to dexterity and more. And just when you think the brilliance can shine no more brightly, it does. Not only can you select single toys by age category (which, by the way, are broken down by ¼ and ½ year!!!), but you can also select a package of four toys, which are perfectly selected to be age appropriate. The one year package has a gift for 1 year, 1 ¼, 1 ½, and 1 3/4). Toys come once every 3 months- and they come with expertly written instruction cards. Oh, and they come in a white box perfect for a little fort- and if your kid is like mine (or rather, like I was as a child) the box is a pretty important part of a present!!! There’s more. Yeah, more. You also get a one year subscription to Parenting magazine.

Oh, and the toys are mom approved. That’s right. They a Mother Board who test the products and give them their seals of approval. And you can even create a wish list. Just in time for Christmas. FYI, they have toys age appropriate for kids ages newborn up to 4 ¾ years old.

If someone did something this nice for Leah, I’d be ecstatic. For her, getting a new toy is, well, like Christmas- and I can’t imagine how thrilled she’d be to get a new toy in the mail every 3 months for a year. And I’d feel great knowing she was learning something and it was helping her development.

Leah has My First Playset with Little Friends. The card that came with it lets me know what specific skills it helps develop. FYI- Imagination, dexterity and social skills. It also comes with ideas to get the most out of the toy! The best part is, the toy is a carrying case for the toys within! On the reverse side of the card, it lists the developmental milestones for the age level the toy is designed for. For Leah, it is 18-21 months (she’s 20 months now!). But this toy will grow with her because it can double as a carrying case for other toys, clothes, or even as a “backpack” when she goes to preschool!

You can even create a registry (in case you want to drop some hints to a dense relative!).

So if you still have holiday shopping to do, or have a birthday or other special occasion coming up (or you just want to buy some really great expert and mom approved toys) head on over to eBeanstalk. They really are “planting the seeds that help children grow.”

And I promised decorating tips. I have found some really cute chachkis at The Dollar Store and Dollar General. Don't knock it till you've tried it people! And hit the Target Dollar Spot. I'm telling you, you will find holiday decorating GOLD.

And if you want the recipe for the best Apple Pie you'll ever taste, well you'll have to email me and sign up for the newsletter. P.S. If you commented previously that you wanted to be on the mailing list for said newsletter and didn't email me, please do so- I need to know what email you want it to go to. And if you've already sent me a SIGN ME UP! email, don't worry, when I get the newer, cooler sign me up link, you won't have to redo anything. I'm hookin it up people. Bad ass.
