Yes, money really can buy peace and happiness! $8.99 to be exact ... well, $9.44 with 5% sales tax ;)

Our little G-clan is planning a 2 week trip next month to visit family back home in California. NOT looking forward (much) to the flight (I have a 2 year old!) I've decided to take action! I'm bringing along a special travel backpack for Molly-Fae. In it she can carry her crayons (the kind that won't mark up anything but the special paper), few new coloring books, and two very important stuffed characters (Tasha and Grumpy Bear).

I'm certain the airline will feel compelled to send me thank you notes for this effort later.

Dear Blog,

I'm not ignoring you ... I think of you often, actually. But I think I'm I'm suffering from a case of blog block. I know, I know, I've been knitting and concentrating a whole lot more on that blog but, it doesn't mean I don't care about you. I swear! It's not you ... it's me.

I've wondered if changing your "focus" would spark something. Or perhaps, the URL or title? I'm not sure what I need to do or which direction to take you, Blog ' my heart. We've been together for so long now ... far longer than my blogoversary button indicates.

When we first got together, back in 2003, I had so many ideas and "interesting" things to say, my posts would pile up on one another. I could change my layouts, headers, even my URL on a whim without regret and move forward. Now though, I'm so invested in your current incarnation, I simply don't know what to do.

Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.... no, wait, wrong forum...

Please understand, my dear Blog ... I'm not leaving you, I'm only seeking for something I don't even know what it is yet. I'll keep you posted. And remember, it's not you - it's me.

Just a quickie before bedtime ... last night the hubby and myself went to Jaxx to see Y&T. The show was smokin! Y&T played hotter and harder than I can remember from past shows I've gone to. Dave Meniketti was on fire! Phil torn thru "Squeeze"... my head and voice are still cracked from helping out! LOL I'll be 40 on Thursday, and Y&T are celebrating 35 years in the business of "facemelting". I'm not recovering as fast as I did when I was making my way to shows back in 1985 but, mama's groove isn't going anywhere!

Where on earth do I begin?! It's been a Hobbit's age since I posted last, it seems. No, I have not been traveling from city to city attending fantasy book fan conventions... I've been getting my business off the ground and being a mommy to my beautiful daughter, and partner to my uber supportive husband!

Slumber Parties by Jamie is off and running! I just had my launch party last Friday, and it was a blast! I have my next party on the 3rd and I am super excited about it. Even though I am all new to in-home romance parties (as the woman bringing the goodies and doing the demo, anyway!) I feel like the light bulb is burning bright on this one. I had gone round and round to myself and my hubby about going back to work as a pharmacy technician but, I just can't do 9-5 anymore. As much as I love it, I'm a mom and being able to stay home for as long as possible with her is far more important! Being a Slumber Party Consultant is giving me a golden opportunity... and I'm meeting fabulous new women almost everyday as a result. That's huge since my close network of friends, including my BFF, are back in California. I have been in VA for 2 1/2 years and have struggled to meet new friends. No more struggling ... a lot of the women I am meeting are also consultants and are just plain great to know.

My second knitting project was a chunky wool scarf for my hubby. I finished it a few weeks ago, but finally just got around to take a photo of it for the archives. If you thought you heard me tap dancing with happiness today, you probably did! I finally got the yarn I needed to complete my first project from the UPS man today! It's a long story but, I'm pleased to announce that my pink chunky acrylic scarf is done! I will post pics even faster than I did for my hubby's scarf LOL

It's been a busy February to March. Molly had croup, then pink eye ... and I had (well, still have) sinusitis. It's a wonder my hubby is still healthy and happy! This morning was one for the record books, however. It was the first morning in about 2 weeks that Molly's temperature was normal. Yay! Even though I still felt fairly nasty, and the wind was knocking things everywhere, we wandered outdoors for some much needed therapy only the sun and outdoors can offer.

Molly and I were enjoying it far too much for me to worry about snapping pictures. But here's a small offering of a few images from recent days. My daughter is seriously a ham.

I know that some people live in places where Winters are harsh, and yes Winter can suck but, being Californian it's my favorite season. Winters in California are different. It can rain daily for a month straight and still be the best place on earth to be. There's always a good chance a sunny day is right around the corner. But when Cali gets cold, it can be bone chilling. Before VA, I never lived in a place where snow each Winter was actually expected. The last time I remember snow in the 925 was a Winter Solstice for about 5 minutes..2001? In any case, it was awesome. Now that I'm here, I'm finding out it doesn't snow nearly as much as I bet many people think. So, here I am wishing for more Winter type weather ... bring it on, Frosty!

My, my, time flies! The last week blew by! Literally :) The wind chill is about 17 right now, too.

I've been working on my new business venture and trying to stay healthy. Hubby and baby are both sick.... she has croup. Yes, queue the sad faces and slouched shoulders from mommy! I love how she is such a snuggler but, the poor little one is just feeling icky lately. If only mommy had a wand ...

I've got a March For Babies breakfast in the morning ... and I hope we can at least make an appearance. I've got so much to do before the walk goes down! I'm really happy to do it though ... this is good work, kwim?!

Make ya a deal ... I'll *see* you on Wordless Wednesday, ok? When I'm not so pushed. My sinuses are telling me it's bedtime!

The last week has been somewhat of a blurrrrrr to me! Teething, knitting, trying to stay focused on my weight and get back to work goals, all while beating back a cold ... I could sure use a nap!

Poor lil Mol is getting molars and it's making life more *interesting* (that's a nice way to put it) than it needs to be in our household. I don't like to give meds but, when I need to I do. I guard against making a deeper issue all while trying to make her happy at the same time. The fact that she took a nap today, AND told me she wanted to go "nigh night" at 730 this evening was the kind of event that makes this momma take some serious notice. I guess her semi-break down at the play date today should have been a huge clue, eh? LOL She had just been repeating the phrase "dog show!" over and over when her decision was made, too. Oh well, I'm sure we can catch a re-run of the Westminster Dog Show in the near future for her ... she's on a huge doggy kick right now.

As for my knitting (and screw y'all to the few of you who have recently reminded me that not only have I taken up knitting but, I'll be 40 soon. You'll get yours!), I'm a lady in waiting right now. Apparently Red Heart "Bright & Lofty" is easy to find, just not in the color I need. I special ordered a few more skeins and hope to have my bikini colored 80" scarf finished by next week sometime. I've been practicing my purl in the mean time... and a mean purl it is. Mean while, I'm deciding whether I want to just jump in and start on hubby's gray chunky wool scarf, or dive straight into the fingerless emo gloves. Hmm.... decisions, decisions.

And my big news this week ... I'm self employed! (queue the glitter and balloons!) I am now an Independent Contractor for Slumber Parties, Inc. In other words, I'm now "the Dildo Lady"! Ok, ok, Romance Enhancement Specialist is a much better title for a business card.

I'm really excited! Slumber Parties is a great company and they provide so many tools to help distributors suceed. I just had to jump on this opportunity for myself ... the time is right, I have more than enough time and will be able to stay at home with our daughter. The stars have aligned for this one!

It's no longer "Wordless Wednesday" but, this is my submission for Thursday's version :) My work in progress ... my "funky chunky scarf", about 30% done at the time of this post. It's destined to be 80 inches ... right now it's about 25".

I can't believe I never took up knitting before! I guess I figured I just didn't have the time. But this is what a few minutes here and there throughout my day, plus kicking back after my little one goes to bed to work for an hour (tonight anyway), since I began the project on Monday.

Now, I am literally hooked! Oh wait ... is that a crochet reference?? Oy!

In the last few days I've ...

Most notably, my laptop died on Saturday, leaving a huge hole in my heart where my hard drive used to be. Yes, the very hard drive that contains photos of my daughters first moments of life. If any one has a suggestion about how to save this hard drive, please drop me an email!

I watched the Cardinals try, and be abruptly denied, their first Super Bowl championship in gawd knows how long. 21 years? And even that's contested, am I right? Well, piffle, if you ask me!

I began my first "official" knitting project! A "funky chunk scarf" I call it. I've been practicing casting, knit and purl, and I have finally put all that to work. I attended my first knitting group meet up at a local Panera ... where the mocha is just yumtastic ... and received a warm welcome, as well as encouragement and a bit of training and advice about the correct way to do a perfect knit stitch. I even knit in the round for a minute! Not as bad as I had imagined! Thanks Inge!!! I've taken up the sz 15 needles and have about a foot of scarf done. Not without a few bumps in the road but, I've got more confidence to tackle those add-ons I seem to create without even knowing it! :)

While this is all going on, my little angel daughter is tackling a cold. I never imagined a small snoot could run so much! Poor baby! And it gives this mom just another reason to snuggle even more! We also have even better reason to stay in jammies all day :) Today the sneezes slowed down, and so did her nose just a bit, thank goodness!

And last but not least ... "dude, you're getting a Dell" has been playing over and over in my head because, dude, I got a Dell! I plan on getting new hard drive for the lap top but, we went for the desk top for right now and this baby is saaweet!

So... recently the owners of the awesome town home we rent replaced our refrigerator. The old one was fine with the exception of the ice maker ... it wouldn't stop making ice. Instead of forking out $250 to fix one part, they decided to replace the whole thing and donate the old one. Long story short, the guys who came to pick up the frige for donation had been picking up other items prior to coming to our house. From the open front door, I could see a pretty big giraffe in the back of the moving truck. I made a silly comment about how neat it would be to have a ceiling tall giraffe, and next I know, a ceiling tall giraffe was being brought into my foyer! Wow! My daughter was soooo happy! She fell in love instantly and the guys moving the frige to donate, were so cool. I think Molly's smile made their day. And they made mine. That was a neat move, guys! Thanks! My husband who is 6'5 was a little intimidated at first though :)

Now Molly-Fae kisses her giraffe onthe nose goodnight at bedtime ... with the help of daddy, of course!

Unless you were under a rock or simply unaware of how today affected you, you were probably like me - glued to your television between about 10am and 5pm. The beginning of the Obama/Biden era in the United States of America has begun ... and I seriously couldn't be a happier registered Republican who dared to vote for a relative unknown, to help guide our country towards our better, stronger future.

I love George Bush. There, I said it. I think he's a good man on the inside - but I also think he made a few stumbles and mistakes as President. I don't need to rehash them ... we all have our opinions about how his administration could have been "better". But, I think his handling of the transition of power to another man and leaving DC was done with class ... and most likely a sigh of relief on his part. George is a Texan and most Texans like to stay right where they were planted.

When I voted for Barack Obama, it was like I closed my eyes and filled in the bubble and sent my absentee ballot back. I was literally almost in denial that I had voted that way. Now that today's swearing in is done, and the Inaugural Balls are underway - I'm one happy camper.

You can see it when Michelle and Obama look at one another - they are in love - and that's important to me. They are young, and their kids are adorable, they are fit and ready to rock. His left hand steady, as he signed his name making him the official leader of the free world. And feminists, just shut up already! Michelle Obama as "Mom-In-Chief" (her words), is not demeaning, it's a powerful message that she is ready to do her part to lead the world, as well as her own family.

America deserves a new kind of administration. One that can use the word "hope" and not be seen as spineless or flaky. There's nothing wrong with having hope in one's heart. It was hope that brought those who would stand against the crown to seek out a new life in a new land to our shores. Hope makes the heart beat faster, and the imagination stirring with new ideas. I'm tired of hearing nay-sayers talk down about hope ... though it seem they've lost theirs.

I've sung America The Beautiful to my daughter about 3 times today! I'm so happy to be a stay at home mom, American born woman, mother and wife. Oh and ... am I a Democrat now? LOL

CSI: Costa Rica, anyone???

Last night was the finale of Gil Grissom's reign over Thursday night television. I was prepared beforehand to cry, and expected I might but, the episode was devoid of intentionally weepy scenes. In place of the usual "ok cry here" type stuff was William Peterson's character settled and ready to move on, and all of his CSI co-workers knew it and accepted it too.

I've seen every CSI episode (multiple times) and Grissom has been my favorite science geek to fantasize about and follow for the last (now) 9 seasons. I wasn't a huge "Sara" fan but last night's conclusion was perfect! I couldn't imagine where Gil might go ... I thought he and Sara called it quits for good last season but, he chose to follow his heart and track her down in the jungles of Costa Rica.

A knowing smile ... a "I can't believe I've lived without you this long" embrace ... loving kiss, and fade into the canopy above. It was poetically Shakespeare, without the tragedy or turn coat in the wings. The perfect sonnet.

I won't stop watching - Laurence Fishburne was an awesome choice to take the reigns! Thanks for the memories, Mr. Peterson.
