I am personally excited about this news. I have always been a Chuck Norris fan. His advocacy for troubled and underprivileged children is incredible, not to mention I have always been a Walker: Texas Ranger fan. I have always respected Chuck Norris' stands for morals, family and children; even in the industry in which he works.

As a mother and a Huckabee supporter this is huge. Mike is gaining momentum faster and faster. He is even being compared to Ronald Reagan and we all know what a great President he turned out to be. From this point on, no one can say Huckabee is not electable. He is proving he can challenge the top-tier and that despite the media's attempts to snuff out his campaign he has become a top-tier candidate.

Below is just a part of Mr. Norris' statement of why he has chosen to endorse Mike Huckabee. Please check out the letter in it's entirety. It is worth your time and please do as Mr. Norris requests and keep Huckabee in prayer daily. Our prayers could be the driving force behind putting Huckabee into the Oval Office. Also, remember to donate to the campaign. We must donate whatever we can as often as we can to the point we put the campaign over it's fundraising goals two, five, ten even one hundred times what they were set at; He cannot win without the prayers or the money, we must be faithful.

The David among them

The one question that remains is: Can Huckabee win the nomination? The presidency?

As with the other candidates, Huckabee has, and will continue to have, his hecklers: "He hasn't raised enough money." "He'll never beat Hillary." "Our society is too prejudice and paranoid to vote for a once Baptist minister." "He'll never out-race the top four Republican candidates."

I was thinking about these types of comments the other day when I recalled another leader in ancient times that didn't match up in the line up: King David. Seven men were poised and paraded for the position of king, but David was left in the field shepherding because he wasn't "a frontrunner in the polls." They overlooked the best because they were too busy judging by outward appearance. But God appointed David king.

It's time to quit choosing our leaders based solely upon charisma or one strong suite, and move back to being a culture which esteems and elects its leaders because of character and qualifications. It's substance, not pizzazz, we should want in a leader. Mike Huckabee is the real deal. He has pledged to support our veterans' with a Veterans' Bill of Rights. This is a bill that, although necessary for today's veterans, proves that our government still does not take their obligation to take care of our veterans seriously. So many families would be positively affected by this, I pray to God it sees the light of day. May Huckabee be blessed for his love of America and her people.

As a mother with young children and the wife of a veteran this is a subject that has personally effected me. My husband is a veteran who served his country proudly. To my frustration, I have watched my husband's health slowly deteriorate over the years from the after effects of his military service. We have tried to obtain the benefits that he is entitled to and there is always some loop hole that prevents us from finding any relief. We have had to take on the burden of providing the medical care ourselves. How is it that no matter how long someone serves or how many times they risked their lives or how courageous the act, our veterans have to come home and fight the military to enjoy benefits they have more than earned?

This effects so many families whose joy of having their loved one come home is short lived because they are wounded or develop mysterious illnesses or decide to go back to school only to find out that the benefits they were promised are not there. Some of these families are losing everything. They are losing their homes, can hardly afford to feed their children and pay their bills, and have mounting debt and medical bills.

Our family has been blessed, and I do mean blessed, in that God has always provided just what we have needed when we have needed it. Through it all I have learned that no matter how bad we ever have it, there really are others who have it worse and I pray that this Bill is passed and provides help and hope for all of these families, they have earned it.

Huckee For Our Children's Future

Now that Huckabee's third quarter numbers are out, over a million, the excitement and polls continue to climb in Huckabee's favor. As mothers we struggle each day to ensure our children will have the best opportunities and abilities in life and to have some politician come along and take it all away can be devastating. That is why Huckabee is the only candidate for families and a secure future for our children.

As Huckabee's popularity and subsequently his poll numbers climb, he is overtaking top tier candidates in Iowa and has taken third place. Support for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Sen. The donkey crest on the door was a little scary, but she decided to knock anyway and see if the next President of the United States could be found there. She found a row ofdoors, each surrounded by neon lights proclaiming that the next
President of the United States was behind the door.

OneMom knocked on each door, but was frightened by most of what she found, declaring each one to be "too liberal", "too grumpy", and/or "too inexperienced". She was about to leave the castle when she saw one more door at the far end of the hall on the left. This door was not like the others ... it was pink, with a pretty curtain in the window .... the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking was in the air. But as one mom drew closer she could hear screaming inside and the sounds of thousandsof drone workers constructing a government machine that would be larger and more controlling than anyone had ever seen before. OneMom ran for her life as a hand reached out the door to grab her. She ran down the hall, out the castle doors and through the forest.

A safe distance away, OneMom sat down on a log and began to cry "oh dear, oh dear ... where is the next President of the United States?I must find this person quickly ... time is running out for our families.. for our country". So she began her journey again and found another castle surrounded by very sad looking elephants. She went inside and found a darkened hallway with several doors.

The first door was surrounded by flashing gold dollar signs and a picture that reminded OneMom of a game show host she had seen somewhere. There was a sign on the door that read "I have all the money, so I get to be President". OneMom decided to pass on that one. The next door belonged to a man that brought comfort to the nation in a terrible time of crisis ... unfortunately, OneMom discovered that he was a Donkey in an Elephant suit. On down the hall OneMom went ... "this one is too grumpy","this one is too dull", "this one is too liberal". On and on down the hall OneMom went. She came to the last door and cried "Where is the next President of the United States?!".Just then, a door at the end of the hall opened into a beautiful garden, and she saw one man out there talking with a small group of people. As she approached, the man welcomed her into the garden. OneMom quickly saw that there were many others already there who had been searching for the next President of the United States.

The name of the man in the garden was Mike Huckabee, and he started talking with OneMom about his vision, hope and plan for the United States. He readily answered OneMom's questions, sincerely and honestly from his heart and with his own words. He was kind and intelligent. He
valued life from conception and beyond. He talked of an urgent need for Americans to take responsibility for their health and their health behaviors ... he told his own story of battling 110 pounds of extra weight that he had to get rid of. Mike Huckabee talked of securing our
country and about giving Americans a chance to prosper economically by closing down the wicked castle of the IRS.

OneMom felt like she was visiting with an old friend. Certain that she had found the next President of the United States, she asked Mike Huckabee what she could do to help him get to the White House. His answer was pretty simple "I need you to tell people what I stand for.
Tell them I am the true conservative choice for President with a record to prove it. Tell them I stand for the life of all Americans ... the born and the unborn. Tell them I will work with all Americans to make this a stronger, more secure nation. Tell them I will never forget that
I work for them and not for myself or for big money lobbyists. Tell them I care about them ... tell them I understand their concerns and their struggles, because I am one of them. Tell them of my solid faith in Jesus Christ and that Biblical principles are the foundation of my character and my life. Assure them that the constitution of these United States will be protected and honored in my Presidency."

Relieved that she had finally found the next President of the United States, OneMom set off on her mission to tell everyone why she likes Mike and why he should be the next President. As she turned to go, Mike Huckabee reminded her to write often and to call home every week or two so they could catch up on everything that was going on in this journey to the White House.

This is only the beginning ...

A note from MAForHuckabee: This fantastic story by OneMom was featured on the Huckabee campaign website as part of V-day. Ultimately, people don't care whether an issue comes from the left or the right. What they want to talk about are ideas that lift America up and make us better. It's what I call "Vertical Politics."

On Monday, our campaign has set aside 24 hours, for what we are calling a "Vertical Day". The focus of Vertical Day will be a discussion of the most important issues facing America. The plan is to promote my positions on these issues through video and personal blogs, and to have an online conversation with voters about our ideas, the solutions we see possible, our hopes for America and the challenges we face.

I'd like you to be a part of Vertical Day. I encourage you to tell your friends, family members and co-workers about it and ask them to participate. Vertical Day will start on Monday, September 24 and end on Tuesday, Sept. 25. I'm excited about this opportunity. With your help, and the power of the Internet, we will be able to involve thousands of voters all across America and truly build excitement around this discussion of issues.

To encourage you to make the time to be a part of Vertical Day, my campaign team has put together an incentive package that I hope will be fun and also create buzz and excitement. First, we've created a special Vertical Day page on our website, where you can view the 24 hours of online content we have pulled together.

We also have created a very simple online tool that will give you the ability to promote Vertical Day to your friends, family members and co-workers. We've developed a package of rewards based upon the number of people you are able to get to visit the website. As a way to cap off Vertical Day, we'll enter the names of each of our top promoters into a raffle. On Tuesday, September 25 at 3 p.m., we will draw two names who will receive special invitations to be my personal guests to the YouTube Debate on November 28 in St. Petersburg, FL.

I will have more details for you soon. In the meantime, please mark Monday, Sept. 24 down on your calendars.

Gov. I was never very politically involved until I met my husband. Politics is a very big part of his life so naturally I took an interest in it as a way to spend time with him. Since then my interest and involvement has grown each year and has become especially intense this past year. The issues that we now face are too important to ignore.

You don't have to be a part of any particular voter block to know our country is being divided by differences. Maybe the parties could take a lesson from the Huckabee blogger community and hopefully from combined effort blogs like Moms For Mike Huckabee. Everyone of us are an individual, with differing views and different lifestyles, but together we are working towards a common goal; in our case to get Mike Huckabee the Republican nomination. My husband and I have had a wonderful opportunity recently to experience the outpouring of love, support and loyalty the Huckabee blogger community offers. It has been the greatest political experience I have had the fortune of being a part of.

Moms as a voter group, if united, can shake up the political world. I deeply believe this. We have the greatest reason to assure that the future of this country is secure; our children. As protective and strong as men can be towards their families, it cannot compare to a mother's instinct and ability to nurture and protect her child and that child's future. Now unite the conservative mothers of America and you would have an unbeatable force. What a great opportunity for Huckabee and mothers alike.

We cannot all give in the same way. Some of us can provide financially, some can volunteer at events and other can help spread the word. Nothing is too small to make a difference. Please go to MikeHuckabee.com to find out what you can do. I realize that things I did as a child are unthinkable in today's climate ... riding a bike or walking to a friend's house alone; feeling safe in a public school; playing in an unfenced yard. I am a homeschooling mom (much more so for academic and values reasons, but the security comes into play as well).

With the internal and external threats to our freedoms in the United States, there has perhaps never been a Presidential election that carries such weight in determining what our country will be when my child is raising her own children in 20 years. I believe that the ONLY candidate in any party that offers true conservative leadership, and real hope (and a real plan) to restore our country to one of greatness and prosperity, is MIKE HUCKABEE.

In previous elections, I have been a sideline observer ... this time is different. When I first saw Mike Huckabee a few months ago, I was very impressed with his ability to communicate and his obvious concern for the United States. Governor Huckabee stands for life ... starting at conception, and continuing after being born. He stands for securing our country and standing strong against our enemies (some who want to destroy us with weapons, others who want to destroy our Christian foundation with liberal extremists that would see all mention of God and Jesus removed not only from our present way of life, but some seek to remove Christianity from our very history).

We need Mike Huckabee as our next President. I believe this to be not just important, but a matter of extreme urgency. Christians, conservatives, moms, students ... we must unite and work to get Mike Huckabee elected in 2008. The time to make this happen is now ... we cannot wait for election day 2008 because the election will be mostly decided by then. We must get Mike the Republican nomination. He will unite conservatives, independents and even the "Reagan Democrats" will return to the Republican party. Only Mike Huckabee will be able to be victorious over the Democratic Nominee (which I believe is a foregone conclusion ... it will be Hillary Clinton).

Three things you must do today (and keep doing):

Pray for Mike Huckabee, for his staff, his volunteers, and for our country.

Contribute to Mike's campaign.

Tell everyone you know why you "Like Mike".

I'll be stopping by here periodically to post updates regarding Mike Huckabee and topics especially important to Moms. What really concerns me are the growing number of obese children in our society. Statistics say that type II diabetes is growing in young teens at an alarming rate. Are we setting our children up to be the most unhealthy of all generations? I believe that Governor Huckabee really understands this serious issue and as President he can help America get back on the track of good health.

Huckabee: Economy Threatened by Obesity Epidemic

Sunday, August 26, 2007

BILOXI, Miss. — Republican presidential candidate and self-described "recovering foodaholic" Mike Huckabee told Southern governors Saturday that an obesity epidemic could cause serious problems for the American economy, and even for national security.

"Today we hear a lot about the War on Terror, how we need to fight it," said Huckabee, who lost 110 pounds several years ago when he was governor of Arkansas. "Let me ask this question: Who's going to fight it in the future if we're a generation so sick that we don't have the capacity to show up for work?"

Huckabee also told an audience at the Southern Governors' Association convention that obesity is creating the first generation of Americans who might not live as long as their parents.

Huckabee — who left office in January after having been governor since July 1996 — implemented several programs to battle weight problems in Arkansas, including having public schools measure students' body fat.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a Republican, said during the panel discussion that the eight fattest states in the nation are all in the South.

"I don't know that fried has anything to do with it," Barbour said. "But we weren't raised eating right in the South. But the good news is we can do something about it."

Dr. William Rowley, who worked 30 years as a vascular surgeon and now works at the Institute for Alternative Futures, said 61 percent of U.S. active-duty military personnel are overweight.

Huckabee said that statistic disturbs him.

"You've got a serious situation with a generation of kids coming up so unhealthy they won't be able to pass the military physical," Huckabee said in an interview after the panel discussion. "We keep talking about the war on terror — who's going to fight it if we don't have enough people who are healthy enough to show up and pick up a backpack?"

Weapons Of Mass Instruction

                                            Boston Globe Editorial

The sound of music (and arts)

MIKE HUCKABEE seems like just another nice-guy Republican pitching his conservative credentials in the presidential race. But when the former Arkansas governor starts talking about the importance of the arts and education, he's practically Maria von Trapp harmonizing about the power of music and metaphor.

Huckabee calls the arts and music "weapons of mass instruction." If education touches only one side of the brain, he recently told the Globe editorial board, then it's just "a data download." Rather, schools should use art and music to develop both the left and right sides of students' brains, and to translate and transmit culture.

For Huckabee the issue is personal and political. In 1966, his parents scraped together $99 to buy his first guitar. Today, he is in a band, Capitol Offense, that performed at the recent Iowa straw poll, where Huckabee came in a campaign-boosting second behind former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Huckabee's policy point is that schools can and should provide a rigorous arts education even amid the demands of the No Child Left Behind Act. The federal law has sent many school districts scrambling to help students increase their math and English skills in order to pass state tests. But the law also defines the arts as a core subject in which states should have challenging standards. And an NCLB grant program provides funds that school districts can use to develop arts programming or assessment tools.

But since there's no high-stakes testing in the arts, many school districts shrink arts instruction. This creates a negative domino effect. For example, students who don't learn to read music in grade school aren't prepared to play in the high school band.

Huckabee's home state of Arkansas offers evidence of what can be done. A 2005 state law requires elementary schools to offer 40 minutes per week of music and art. The state's high schools are required to offer fine arts courses, including visual arts, music, and dance. To graduate from high school, students are required to take half a year of one of these.

There have also been challenges, such as finding enough art teachers who are certified. Superintendents have complained that there was no dedicated state funding to implement these programs.

The next president could address these issues, calling for a bigger federal investment in state efforts and asking states to do more basic assessments, such as measuring hours of arts instruction, numbers and types of arts classes offered, and numbers of qualified teachers.

Regardless of how the Republican presidential contest plays out, Huckabee is right to bring attention to art and music. The right side of the brain is a terrible thing to waste.

Mike Huckabee is Decisive Winner of GOP Debate

Press Release: Mike Huckabee is Decisive Winner of GOP Debate

Former Arkansas Governor is Tied for Third Place Among Declared Candidates

August, 05 2007
Des Moines, IA – Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee came out as the obvious winner in today's Iowa Republican debate in Des Moines, Iowa, according to news reports. The victory comes on the heels of Huckabee's strong showing in the latest Iowa -Washington Post telephone poll of 402 likely caucus-goers (conducted July 26-31). The new poll places Huckabee in a tie for third place among declared candidates – and gaining momentum.

The campaign welcomed the good news, which comes in the final week before the August 11th Ames Straw Poll. "Iowa voters saw Mike Huckabee define himself again today as a candidate with executive experience and a message focused on a strong, safe, economically vibrant America . He has what it takes to restore America's greatness," said Bob Vander Plaats, who chairs Huckabee's campaign in Iowa .

According to ABC News and the Washington Post, Huckabee did particularly well, also placing third for his understanding of the problems, likeability and being close to voters on the issues. The survey has a margin of 5 percentage points. He also is an appealing candidate to Evangelicals, placing second at 17 percent, followed by Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain.

"Americans, and in particular, Iowans, are having a chance to see that Gov. Huckabee's message is right on target on Iraq, health care, national infrastructure and other vital issues of importance to our country," said Campaign Manager Chip Saltsman, who noted that Huckabee returned to Iowa on Aug. 1 and will campaign extensively around the state through the Aug. 11 straw poll.

On the issue of Iraq, Huckabee told ABC host George Stephanopoulos there is a successful compromise in the debate over staying in or pulling out of Iraq . "Certainly there's a middle ground George. And the middle ground is that we win this war and we do it with honor," Huckabee said. "We don't just stay indefinitely. We put some pressure – just like we have been the last week, with Secretary Rice and Secretary Gates – on the Saudis."

Huckabee said the Iraqi people need to take on more military and financial responsibility for themselves, and America need to end its dependence on foreign oil. "If we can feed ourselves, if we can fuel ourselves, if we can manufacture the weapons to fight for ourselves, we're a free people. If we can't do those three things, we're not free," Huckabee said to a round of applause.

In the area of health care, Huckabee stressed the need to focus on prevention rather than intervention.

"You know, if you want to know how to fix it, I've got a solution. Either give every American the same kind of health care that Congress has, or make Congress have the same kind of health care that every American has," Huckabee said.

Huckabee said "it's time for a major overhaul of our tax system" and urged others to support the Fair Tax.

"The reality is, if we could have the fair tax, you take $10 trillion parked offshore, bring it home, you rebuild the 'made in America' brand, you free up people to earn money, to work, you don't penalize them for taking a second job, you don't penalize them for investing, you don't penalize them for savings," Huckabee said.

"As Gov. Huckabee travels across Iowa , his message is connecting with the people," Saltsman said. "This poll shows that his momentum is growing and we expect that to continue in the weeks and months to come."

Your thoughts and comments on the debate?

The Maritime Sentry: A Disgrace For The Top-Tier Is An Opportunity For Huckabee

The Maritime Sentry: A Disgrace For The Top-Tier Is An Opportunity For Huckabee

New Man Magazine Endorses Mike Huckabee

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Below is an editorial by the publishers of New Man Magazine that appeared in this months issue

Let's Support Huckabee By Stephen Strang

New Man readers could give Mike Huckabee the traction he needs.

New Man magazine was birthed in the men's movement and was the official magazine of Promise Keepers for its first three years. Over the years New Man has focused on helping men become better husbands, fathers and followers of Jesus. But we have rarely focused much on the wider culture. Other than a cover story once on "The Faith of George W. Bush," we have rarely delved into politics-until now. That's because the war on terror and the cultural battle we face are placing us in one of the most precarious times in our nation's history. A great deal is at stake over who wins the presidency in 2008. There are those running for president who do not share our values and, if elected, will contribute to the continual moral downward spiral.
We want to start a new movement of godly men committed to making a difference by banding together to support for president "one of our own," a man with great credentials and leadership skills but not much money or ranking in the polls. Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, would make a great president, as you've read in the accompanying cover story. But he's having trouble getting "traction" among his base.

It's as if those of us who believe as he does also believe the liberal bias of the media that has relegated him to the second tier of candidates. I've talked with Christian men who said they would support Huckabee if they thought he could win. So how do we change that perception?

The 2008 presidential race is so far off and there are so many candidates that if we banded together we could make a difference in raising money. This would also create a buzz around Huckabee and his campaign.

We've raised money in the past-hundreds of thousands of dollars from readers of New Man and the other magazines I publish-that went to victims of the tsunamis and Hurricane Katrina. We also raised tens of thousands of dollars for the widow and family of a 38-year-old man who died suddenly of a heart attack when he went to Washington, D.C., for the Promise Keepers rally in 1997. When we wrote about how he had no insurance, the love and money flowed in.

Now let's raise money for Huckabee. The maximum you can give is $2,300 per person or $4,600 for a couple. My wife and I have given that already because we want to support a man who believes as we do on important moral issues. I don't want anyone who doesn't share my values to get the nomination by default, just because he or she can raise money.

So let's do the arithmetic. If 1,000 men who read New Man gave $1,000 each, that would be $1 million. It would double the money Huckabee has raised at the time I'm writing this.

One thousand men is less than 1 percent of the readers of this magazine. One thousand dollars is less than a quarter of what you can give (along with your wife). Of course any amount is helpful. And just by contributing, you are making a statement of where your values are.

I know at least 1,000 of you can afford it. Our demographic survey shows the average New Man reader has an income well above the national average. The other side has groups such as EMILY's List that raises money for candidates who are pro-abortion and pro-liberal. EMILY stands for "Early Money Is Like Yeast." They know money that comes in early is "yeast" for the campaign.

I read a disturbing article in The Atlantic magazine in March 2007 entitled "They Won't Know What Hit Them: How the software mogul Tim Gill has a mission: Stop the Rick Santorums of tomorrow before they get started. How a network of gay political donors is stealthily fighting sexual discrimination (sic) and reshaping American politics." For the link to this article, visit us at newmanmag.com. We may not be billionaires, but we can join together to give early support to Huckabee. Or, there are other conservative candidates you can support. But please do something.

Read the article in this issue and share it with your pastor and friends. Go to Huckabee's Web site at teamhuckabee.com and read up on the issues. You can make a contribution online. Leave a comment that you went there after reading the New Man article. Then go to our Web site and leave a comment on our blog about your thoughts and lets get a buzz going.

Huckabee is a good man. He just needs other good men (and women) to get behind him at this critical stage.

Edmund Burke said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Let's do what we can to change the moral direction of our country. Is it possible our joint efforts will lead to a "tipping point" in this campaign that will send a faithful Christian to the White House who can inspire the nation to return to our Judeo-Christian roots?

Want to support Mike Huckabee: visit mikehuckabee.com
