It was a pretty (read: super) hot day in Perth. We walked to Hyde Park after brunch and, despite that scowl you put on for the heat, you couldn’t help but enjoy yourself. Outside is always your favourite place to be.

Afternoon walks to the park, with many a stop along the way, are de rigueur now that we are back in Perth.

Back in Perth for a long stay this time. Basking in the autumn light and right into the sidewalk chalk.

Oh, I’m only 30 weeks behind here. No big deal…!! Despite not having posted anything for so long, I’ve still been diligent in taking the photos and I’m hoping that I can catch up and post them all before year end. If for no other reason than to satisfy that blogger/photographer OCD. Everything up and in it’s place! I did decide to be a little kind to myself however, and limit the project to just Riley. Baby has her own 365 going on over on Instagram, and I really do think that is enough for now 🙂

Christmas, here we come!

38 weeks Mon, 27 May 2013 05:26:53 +0000 20130527-133441.jpg

So here we are at 38 weeks! Full term, so they say. That came around in what seems like the blink of an eye.

It’s been a completely different pregnancy from the first time around – both in terms of how my body has handled it and my entire surroundings. Living out of a suitcase with a toddler in tow while lugging around a pregnant belly has been a little cumbersome, to say the least. Yet by choosing to do it this way has meant that I’ve been able to surround myself with family, to be here for the birth of my little nephew and just soak in the peace that is Perth.

I’ve been feeling the need for a quiet space as this pregnancy draws to an end. I’ve had to make myself say no to a few social engagements, that have been non-stop since touching down. That’s a hard thing for me to do, to say no, but the pull to just cocoon myself a bit and just focus inward has been strong. The opposite of nesting, perhaps? I am still waiting for that instinct to kick in!

P.S. I haven’t abandoned my Project 52! The photos have been piling up on my camera and I’m looking forward to jumping back in with everyone when I’m able to get my photos off the camera and into Lightroom!

breaking radio silence Sat, 30 Mar 2013 01:27:43 +0000 IMG_6372

We went for a rather long walk along the foreshore tonight, attempting to get this body at least slightly prepared for this impending birth, and just generally enjoying the feeling of being back home.

Excuse the temporary absence, but between this temporary shift back to Perth to prepare for the arrival of baby, settling in, attending birthday weekend getaways and arranging a baby shower for the sister, there hasn’t been a lot of time to blog since touching down! Add to that the lack of access to my usual editing software, and my Project 52 pic for last week, and perhaps this week too, is running a little late.

We’re still feeling a little displaced, but slowly getting into the groove of things, and hopefully it’ll be back to business as usual around here soon 🙂 I’m feeling a slight sense of accomplishment with the fact that I have, in the meantime, actually managed to post the final three entries for my Project 366! Only a quarter of a year late, but better late than never, as they say.

new year’s eve Fri, 29 Mar 2013 03:16:50 +0000 366

The last day of 2012, and what a hot and muggy one it was! We grabbed some fish & chips and all headed down to the Applecross foreshore to enjoy the last sunset of the year. You were a little reluctant to head into the river sans bathers (sorry, mummy forgot…again!), but the cool of the water was too much for you to resist, and it wasn’t long at all before you were jumping and splashing about without another thought given to your initial misgivings. A perfect way to see out the year.

black out Fri, 29 Mar 2013 03:09:26 +0000 365

We had a little power outage tonight, and that brief moment of darkness, lit only with the glow of candles, was like sheer magic to you. For the rest of us though, the unrequited heat of a summer night was a little much. We were sort of glad when the all the fans came back on!
