<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday was a marvelous Monday in Washington DC.  Like many I was getting ready for Tuesday's  historic moment  when President Elect Barack Obama would take the oath of office.  </p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>However, I did attended the  <a href="http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/millennium/artist_detail.cfm?artist_id=LETFREEDOM">"Let Freedom Ring Celebration"</a>  Monday evening  at the Kennedy Center which began with an elegant reception.  The annual program is a partnership between the <a href="http://www.kennedy-center.org/">John F. Kennedy</a> Center for the Performing Arts and Georgetown University.  During the affair Coach John Thompson, Jr.<em> Legacy of a Dream</em> award was given to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marian_Wright_Edelman">Marion Wright Edelman</a>.  </p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>She is the  founder and president of the <a href="http://"></a><a href="http://"></a><a href="http://www.childrensdefense.org/site/PageServer?pagename=About_CDF">Children's Defense Fund</a>.  While a student at Bishop College I heard hear speak on a number of occasions. Mrs. Edelman's brother Dr. Harry S. Wright was president of the college at the time.  She has done amazing work on behalf of children and the poor.  <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span></p><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>The entertainment for the program was the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and she sang us all happy.  She really is deserving of just such a title.  One of  the wonderful things Ms. Franklin did that evening was talk about those times when Dr. King stayed at there home and this added to the occasion.</p><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"></p><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"></p><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"></p><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica"></p></div></div><div class="feedflare">
