Paid Surveys: Payment Proof

First I want to start off by saying that any website that is asking you to pay to make money from surveys is the scam site of the century. Paying to take surveys online is the equivalent to paying to start a job, which is absolutely absurd in the real world, but thousands of people get taken by this ploy everyday online. What these sites are offering instead is a view of a webpage that has a database of survey companies that you can sign up for. To their credit, the only advantage they add is the convenience of seeing all of the companies in one place, but that convenience is not worth the $35 bucks they charge you for it.

Moving on, I just wanted to post some payment proof that I received today from Lightspeed Panels today. This paypal payment is from about the last 3-4 weeks of surveys. What I like about Lightspe ed Panels is the many different prizes that you can get. In addition to paypal they have a ton of popular DVDs and other small gadgets. But money is my favorite thing to redeem my point for. Which brings me to my next point...Lightspeed Panel operates on a point system. The smallest about you can redeem (for Paypal anyway) is 575 points for $5 in paypal. I am telling you this to give you an idea of the payment per survey. Looking in my account for the last 5 surveys I've taken this is what I see:

Ok, so the last 6 surveys I've taken since the start of the month. Sometimes you will have invitations for the larger surveys that payout 500 points, but mostly you will get invitations to the smaller surveys that payout an average of 75 - 200 points. So the next question you probably have is about the time it takes. The 500 point survey required about 30 minutes but in general, the surveys will take about 10 - 20 minutes to take based on the topic. From this picture you can also tell that Lightspeed Panels is pretty good at sending invitations pretty often. These are just the surveys that I have qualified for and taken, but there are many others that I have received invites for, but I have not fit into the demographic of people they are looking for. If you have a family, this is great because anyone in your household can take surveys so that if they are looking for a particular group of people (for instance a child, a parent of a minor, or a female over the age of 40) they might be present in your family. 1. Opinion Outpost

Opinion Outpost is another really good company. In general they pay $2.50 - 3.00 for surveys and they use a point system as well that is a little easier to understand than Lightspeed Panels'. 230 points translates to $2.30 and so forth. I can say that the majority of surveys that I receive are right around this range or higher. The one thing that I do not like about Opinion Outpost however is the payout, which is only in checks. I wish that they would make the move to online payment and I look forward to that change in the future. Where I cannot fault Opinion Oupost is the amount of survey invitations that I receive. I will get about 4 - 5 invitations a day and while I may not qualify for all of them, I am glad to be given the opportunity to make more money. Check out a screen shot I took of my backoffice:

e pretty good at sending invitations often. One thing that sets Opinion Outpost apart is the termination rewards that they give, while another company that I take surveys with has termination rewards (I'll talk about it later), Opinion Outpost gives you three options. If you have started taking the screening portion of the survey that you find that you do not qualify you will be taken to a page that offers you three options for your termination reward - a thank you for taking the time to come to the site and try to take a su

rvey. You can 1. Make a donation to a charity 2. Enter into the sweepstakes 3. Play an instant win game. You would think that many people only choose the instant win or sweepstakes, but I often find myself clicking the donate button and something like $40,000 has been donated by members (at $0.10/click thats pretty great), although I most certainly try the instant win every once in a while. And the great thing about the Opinion Outpost is that they give you enough surveys to do both. Here is another shot of my backoffice and and idea of the money I've made with this company:

3. Survey Savvy

Survey Savvy is similar to the last two companies discussed, where they are different is in the earning system, the surveys that they send are based on dollars and cents so that you know automatically how much you will be earning when a survey comes along. I like that this Survey Savvy generally has short and sweet surveys that take about 10/15 minutes to take. Also Survey Savvy spends some of its own revenue on incentives for its members, so that in addition to the surveys they also send different booster surveys, and other tasks that its members can use to earn. Looking at my backoffice since my last payment I have taken 9 surveys and I have a balance of$18.50, so that is generally about $2.05 per survey. Although Survey Savvy does not send invitations as often as Opinion Outpost, they are paced with Lightspeed Panels, but what I can say is that they invitation that they do send are pretty accurately matched based on your profile surveys so that you have a pretty good chance of qualifying for the surveys that you are invited to take.

4. Ipsos i-Say Panel

Nothing really to say about this company, they are again the same as the other companies. They utilize a points system as well, but it is much harder to understand, so that a 20 minute survey will be something like 8 points. Like Opinion Outpost, Ipsos also has termination rewards, but instead of just clicking a button they have fun games to play that result in extra points or more recently entries into sweepstakes. The game that they have running currently is a "Guess the Percentage game". They ask a question like: "What percent of American males smoke a cigarette in the morning?" You guess the percentage and based on where your guess is to the actual amount you are given sweepstakes entries that can be spent on a number of 4 different sweepstakes prizes that have been anything from a backyard makeover to $1000 AMEX gift card. What I will say about Ipsos is that the prizes on which you can redeem points are excellent. They have anything from gift cards to just about every major online retailer from Amazon to Sephora to Target, figurines, and electronics that range from small stop watches to 52" Plasma TVs (which I am currently working toward, lol).

If you are hoping to get involved with surveys online I would say that it is best to open a separate e-mail account separate from your personal account and use that to sign up with the companies. Be careful now, the compulsion here is that you will begin to use this e-mail account for other things, its so fresh and new, unadulterated by spam, and it will be that way if you use it just for the survey companies as well, but when you start to use this new e-mail for other things, spam will slowly begin to flood your inbox and can crowd out your survey invitation so that you might miss some good opportunities.

When I signed into LinkReferral.com today to check some of the reviews of my site, I noticed this box on the main page! My site is listed under the Top 5 Member Reviewers!!

For all of the times that I wanted to write simple one lined reviews or not complete all of the ranking requirement, I'm glad I didn't. If you are not familiar with LinkReferral, it is a traffic building website that is just more than typical traffic exchange. Websites are given a 24 hour locked in ranking based on the tasks that webmasters complete on the site.

For example, when I sign in today my website might be ranked at 60 in its niche category and 300 in the general listing, but after completing my tasks it may be listed at 13 in the niche and 120 in the general. QYAO: Final Update = Bad News!!

Those of you that have followed by blog for some time will remember me getting involved with a program called QYAO, and while it has not gone under like so many other programs on the internet, it has suffered from some problems that led to a lot of member distrust and changes in the structure of QYAO that caused disinterest.

So for this post I just want to take a retrospective look at the course of QYAO to try to see some of the things that caused it's changes so that I can be more aware next time and hopefully not fall prey to the same pitfalls if and when I do decide to create a membership site of my own. Here are some of the problems that plagued QYAO.

1. Premature Launch

There are many programs out there that have membership open for a while before the program or website launches and while this is a great way to create interest and to allow the initial life blood of your site to enter, there are problems that arise when the site is not actually ready. QYAO suffered from problems of this nature. While there was a large member base, there was not a lot of leadership in the form of an administrator that knew all the intricate ins and outs of the site and could provide answers to any and all questions. Instead everyone had questions and it seemed as if no one had the answers.

2. If it's too good to true, IT DEFINITELY IS!!

No ifs, ands, or buts on this one. I was one of the members with rose colored glasses on. I had doubts but convinced myself that it couldn't be all bad if all of these people were investing money. QYAO made a lot of big promise. It seemed as though month after month there was a special on top of a special on top of a special and more and more they demanded money from their members for upgrades, or site creation and various other things. And while I lost less than $50 on the entire process, my stupidity in believing some of the crazy promises that QYAO made was not worth the money.

3. Middle Management

Not only an offline problem, QYAO was bogged down with all of this middle management. There was a different person to pay to upgrade membership. Someone else to teach recruitment, someone else for site development and so on to the point where I would be trying to keep track of 5 different people for 5 different things, who in turn had absolutely no communication with each other or upper management. More than that questions had to be asked in a chain of command so that 3 people stood between you and your answer, greatly increasing the time it took for my questions to be answered and often times because of problem 1, they were not answered satisfactorily.

4. No Transparency

I think this is the most damning problem that QYAO had. There was an illusive Jane that was the seeming owner and moderator of QYAO, but half-way through, her name and profile changed. Questions could not be asked directly to her and had to go through other appointed people and information was often given in bits and pieces. This is the most important thing to look for. If there the administrator is not available for questions, or cannot explain areas of the site of quell your concerns then run in the other direction as fast as you can. Make sure that all of your questions are answered by the information on the site or by the admin before you get deeply involved in anything on the internet.

On the upside QYAO continues to be a community of people that is willing to help each other. There are other structures set up that allow members to earn within the community that can be helpful for people who want to earn some extra money. If you are looking for something new, you can check out the new QYAO and see if it is something that you will be interested in.

So if you are thinking about joining a site, or shelling out some money keep these things in the back of your mind and make sure that you are completely comfortable with your decision. Remember that there are a lot of people that want to take your money and make you promises, but you cannot be taken advantage of unless you allow yourself to be. There's no rush to spend your money jumping from program to program.

As I was going through the Neobux forum I came across the topic heading of success stories. Clicking on the link, I was expecting the usual fare of $10, $20, and $30 payouts, 100s of referrals and the like. But instead I saw a topic that read "$2500 Per Month Pure Profit". Obviously not believing what I was seeing, I clicked in the topic and read through the post, and surprisingly it was no joke.

For this member and many other in the forum, Neobux has been a legitimate income for them on a monthly basis. This poster explained how he diligently logged into Neobux twice a day and clicked on all available links, reinvested his earnings, upgraded his membership and grew his income to the astounding amounts described. It seems that this program has provided much more than a few cents per click. The structure of Neobux is such that referrals can be rented adding to income. More than that, there is a science to the recycling referrals that allows Neobux members to maximize their profit.

It is clear that Neobux is not like other PTC programs, with payment proofs displaying amounts in the $1000s and even one here for $1,199!! Neobux has once again caught my attention as a program that I am going to spend a lot more time and effort developing.

Adsense Earnings

I have been a member of adsense for some time now, but I have only recently began to utilize my ads more efficiently, in terms of placement, colors, channels, etc. If you are a member of Google's adsense program then I would highly recommend that you take some time and read the optimization reports and suggestions so that you can begin to take better advantage of Adsense ads. After a bit of testing and optimization, I am making around $3-4/day on average, and growing. Here is a screenshot of today's earnings up until about 2:00:

Today I am going to talk a little bit about Google adsense and ad testing. When internet marketers and advertisers talk about testing ads, they are reffering to tracking the performance of certain ads, altering their colors and placements to track changes in performance and then making the necessary changes so that their ads are fully optimized. There are the different ways in which you can test your Google adsense codes:

1. Color Testing
There are two ways in which you can feature the adsense code on your page. As a part of the page in the sense that the colors correspond or in stark contrast to your page. Featured on this page, you will see that the adsense code is colored as part of the page. The colors match the colors of the page and there is more seamless intergration. You can also try a color scheme that is contrasting to your page. For a site like this, I would perhaps try Adsense code that looked something like this if I wanted to try and test contrasting code:

2. Ad Placement
Adsense makes it possible to take advantage of any and every unused space on your page. But adsense overkill can be a problem, and finding the right places on your page that will help to drive visitors to click on your ads is important. Playing around with adsense position can help you to optimize your earnings. I have found that inserting small bits of adsense code at the bottom of some posts help my earnings because visitor focus is already at the end of the posts, so that the next logical step for them is to click on an ad that might interest them. Placement in the header, footer, or sidebars, or even all three places will help you to maximize your earnings, and altering the placement of the ads can change the way that you earn.

3. Ad size
Ad size goes a long way in your page formatting and adsense earnings. Large and bulky ads that are not properly placed can not only ruin the flow of your page, but turn visitors off from staying on your page and clicking on ads. Finding the optimal size of the ads that you place on your page can also have a profound effect on your adsense earnings.

In these three ways, you can begin to take control over your adsense earnings, and by altering your ad color, placement, and size you can do major damage, or damage control. Testing your ads can only help you, and once you have begun to understand what works and what doesn't, you will be able to make the most out of every one of your ad placements, whether they be Google or otherwise.

Hey everyone, this post is going to be a bit of a shameless plug, lol. Well I am discussing today, my new PTC site called CairoClicks (named after my niece). Megalido: Make Big Money!

There are a number of auto-surf programs out there on the net. For those of you who have never heard of an auto-surf program, or have heard of it, but have never really taken the time to learn about what it entails, here is a little more information.

An auto-surf program is in a sense just a revenue sharing program. Each unit costs $6, and for this $6.00 and daily auto-surfing, you will earn a 12% return on your investment daily for 12 day. So that at the end of the 12th day you would have earned a total of 144% on your investment. You can purchase anywhere from 1 to 1000 units, so that you control your earnings entirely. As for me, I used the money that I earned from Neobux and bought 3 units (for a total spend of $18). This is just a test spend for me, but there are many others, who have invested much more and are seeing awesome returns. Everybody loves a little proof of payment, and for those of you who are curious about Neobux and whether or not they are paying, I want you to check out the forum for copious amounts of proof that people have been paid, and been paid immediately.

Once you have begun to earn a bit of money, you must think of ways to re-invest these returns into a program or venture that can get you more money for your investment. Collect returns and do the same, you can once again re-invest in a program that is working for you, or seek out other opportunities that show promise.

In this way you can slowly build your income starting with nothing but your time. I would say that the internet is endless and there are a number of programs that will turn out to be down right scams, but there are some true diamonds in the rough. I would suggest to really talk to people and ask for help and guidance. It seems as though despite all of the social networks and networking, people still hide behind their computers. They are proud to have the most friends, but their mail-boxes are empty, reach out and talk to people. Ask about their experience in a program that you are intersted in. Join forums and message boards, subscribe to RSS feeds and stay connected. Soon you will become very aware when the internet money making community starts to buzz about something new.

So remember people LEVERAGE is your friend, use it to your advantage. As with money, the more time that you invest, the more money you can earn, so get out and begin to sell your time!

Checks Galore: Paid Survey Review

All over the internet, you read promises that you can earn hundreds of dollars by taking surveys online. While I cannot say that this is entirely false, in general, it does not hold up. It is true that many survey companies will offer you $75-$100 for taking part in area focus groups or testing a product in your home. But on a daily basis you will most likely receive e-mails that offer surveys that require anywhere from 5-60 minutes of your time with rewards that range anywhere from a couple of cents to double digit dollars. Other survey companies offer you points that you can redeem for things like vacations, televisions, etc. In this picture is just a couple of checks that I have received for doing surveys over the last couple of weeks. The 4 checks that you see up top are from a company called PineCone Research. I just joined in mid August and they have been great about sending me surveys. What I love about this company is that they send out checks immediately so that when I complete a 10 minute survey, they send out my $3.00 almost immediately. The check out front is from MindField Online. A $21 check for a bout 4 or 5 surveys isn't too bad. What is great is that I am a member of at least 10 of these survey companies so that I am earning similar amounts in each.

Taking surveys online will not make you rich, so I think you should dispel that rumor immediately. But these surveys offer a really nice and stable income that will allow you to earn a couple hundred every month.

It was just by luck that I happened to get involved with surveys. As a bonus for joining ProjectPayday, I received a complementary membership to SurveyScout. Don't be fooled, you should never have to pay to join a survey panel, nor should you have to pay to receive access to a list of companies that will pay for your opinions. There are not too many programs that I get excited about, I am the typical skeptical online browser. The last program that I really dedicated my time and effort to was Qyao and it has worked well for me. HOW TO: Make A Web Banner

A great way to add more visibility to your site and increase its link appeal, is to create nice banner creatives for your site. We as internet users are very visually engaged. Between reading small text and processing all of the different colored links, we are constantly using our eyes to scan web pages fast and furiously. Creating a banner that has a fun animation, or even a simple and elegant banner, makes a low stress zone for the eye on a page and will help bring free traffic to your page. They are better than text link ads because they give readers a visual image to hold on to.

Now come to actually sitting down any making a banner. Think about a design that will grab attention and consider what you want the banner to say. How much information will give the viewer. The sign of a good banner is one that drives free targeted traffic to your site. For the beginners out there, don't freak, I promise you that it is the easiest thing ever. The things that you will need:

1. .jpeg or .gif that you would like to use for your banner. Now there are standards for the banners that you see around the web. The most common banner out there is the 468 x 60 banner. I am sure that most of you are familiar with the others including 125 x125 ( the size of the banners to the right)

2. Online photo storage account. If you do have an account where you can upload your photos and videos to the web then go out and get one. They are all over, some include: Flickr, Webshots, KodakGallery, etc. I personally use both Flickr and Webshots. Flickr is great because it allows me to also upload .gifs.

3. Lastly you will need this little piece of code:

You can just copy it exactly as it is, making sure to replace the highlighted links with links of your own. The first should be replaced with the URL (including http://) that you would like your banner to link to. Where the second link is, enter the URL of the image or gif that you uploaded to your photo account.

When you have all these three pieces complete, just copy and paste the HTML code for your banner into your site, profile, etc.

Another great way to utilize your banners is to advertise on other sites around the web. There are many sites out there that offer advertising on a blog, forum, or website. And this kind of advertising is nice because it will not necessarily break the bank.

I used GIMP image program to make the simple .gifs.

So go out and make your own website banners. If you are not into creating your own banners from scratch, you can also search the web as there are sites that allow you to create your own banners right on their site, with nice graphics and effects.

Qyao Promotion/ Earnings

Well, I have some more updates about my progress with Qyao.com. For the month of August I was working as a communications manager trainee....fancy language, but it basically meant that I was a feeler for Qyao and just remained active on the internet helping people learn more about Qyao, introducing Qyao to potential members, and most importantly guiding new members in understanding Qyao better and how to earn with it. During my probationary month I was able to refer 81 members while at the same time leveraging about $100 into ~$1900 (more later). Well I just found out today that after my training period I was promoted to the Communications Manager!! I am especially excited because I am able to go to school and work, yet remain active in my work with Qyao. So I've been away for just a bit and that's because I had to move all my things from NYC back to Philadelphia for my last year in school. Moving in was a huge ordeal, but I am glad to be all settled in and getting into the groove of things. Alexa Rank Rising

I am a member of SocialSpark. If you're a blogger and haven't checked it out then you should go ahead and take a look. They use a ranking method called Real Rank, which takes out all of the extrapolation used by Google statistics and just bases the blogs rank only on the concrete, links, traffic, etc. Despite using this ranking method, they also display the Alexa rank for each blog in the community and gives really nice statistic graphs that allow you to track your progress. Well I signed on to SocialSpark today and looked at my profile. When I clicked on my blog's Alexa rank, this the chart that came up:

I was really excited because I saw that all of my efforts in link building and article writing, and the various other strategies that I have utilized to bring more organic traffic to my site are paying off. Granted, I am not at the top of the Alexa ranks, but in about 10 days I have managed to bring my rank from 5 million to 2.75 million. It is great to see how my site has progressed, and really gives me the motivation to continue to do the most to help increase my Alexa and hopefully there-after, my Google rank as well!

At the start of the summer I decided to dedicate more time to making this site more successful. I am always talking about getting more free, and targeted traffic to you site, and realizing that search engines, especially google and yahoo, are the cornerstones to receiving more free targeted traffic I set out to learn SEO (search engine optimization). In order for you website/blog to take advantage of search engine traffic, you must optimize and make it stand out in the eyes of search engines.

Well, I am just a rookie at SEO but one of the things I learned was how to look out for my competition. What that means, is that I would visit sites that were similar to my own and check
out their information. Being able to look at the site stats is a good way to compare it to your own and see where you stand. In this endeavor, Firefox makes it extremely easy. They offer two extensions:

SEO for Firefox . This plugin grabs information about the website that you are currently viewing including: PR, Technorati Rank, and Alexa rank just to name a few of the features. More than that, it highlights no follow links on the page as well. There a lot other really helpful features that allows you to check up on other websites and see where they are successful so that you are able to mold your site into a picture of SEO success. The other tool that I find really handy and helpful is:

Alexa Sparky . This little bar sits in the bottom section of your firefox window, when you visit a web page it gives you the information that you would receive if you were to go to alexa and check the traffic statistics. It gives you traffic trends including reach and rank of the page you are on and its all delivered in a small toolbar. In the picture here I am on Google's home page. it gives me Google's rank, #2, and the traffic trend over the past three months.

Both of these tools are customizable so that you and tweak the setting so that the plug-ins perform exactly how you would like them to. For anyone that is new to SEO and wants to have some quick information about the sites that they visit and also about their internet equals/competition should really consider downloading these plugins. And the best part is they are 100% absolutely FREE!

What is RSS? And Why is it the Shizz?

So you sign on to your computer in the morning. You sit down, open and read your e-mail and then open 8 tabs. You want to visit all of your favorite websites to see what's news. So you move from tab to tab, either typing from memory or selecting bookmarks and you're off...

Now what is wrong with this picture? (I hope none of you out there are actually doing this) But what is wrong is that you are wasting your precious time manually surfing the net. Why make things hard for yourself when it can be so easy?

So What is RSS?

This is where RSS steps in. I'm sure that you all have seen this symbol on the web: I'm sure that this symbol has been shoved down your throat. But let me assure you that it was in good reason. What RSS subscribe does, is allow all of the new content from all of your fav websites to be delivered right to you, all on one page.

In order to utilize your subscription, you'll need a reader. What a reader is, is just an account, very similar to your e-mail, differing only in that it delivers the newest posts, content and changes on the websites that you visit most often, instead of e-mail. Both Google and Yahoo offer you very convenient reader services and you can definitely find a handful more if you just Google "RSS Reader". But don't despair if creating a new account rubs you the wrong way. Many websites (including this one::ahem) allows you to subscribe by e-mail. So all of the newest and freshest content is delivered hot off the presses right to your mailbox.

So if you don't already have RSS subscribe on your website, get it immediately. And if you didn't know what it was, or was a but fuzzy, I really hope I made things clear. RSS is like TV on the net, you can just change the channel and get the latest news.

Back to School Blues

For the people just tuning in for the first time, I am heading into my 4th year of college, but the start of the 2nd on my money making journey. I was taking classes and working away from home this summer (as a matter of fact for the past 2 summers) and I've been home for a mere 8 days. But alas I am returning to school this upcoming Saturday. Realizing that I had just one week left of freedom I started to think about a couple of things that I wanted to achieve in this last week. So here goes:

1. Purging...if you don't know what I mean, check out my post:
Purging...The Good Kind

2. Develop a routine for traffic building

3. Create a daily tasks list

4. Intense week of link building

If you can't already tell from this and my previous posts, lists are one of my favorite things. They help me to stay organized and with the school year looming its absolutely essential for me to make lists, especially my the daily task list so that I stay focused between all the school work and lab work during the academic year. In a or so week, I'll have an update post about how this list of activities went. But as you begin to think about going back to school, or back to work, or just because, make a list of things you want to achieve. Post it on your refrigerator, or your desktop, post it on your forehead for all I care, but stick to it, stay focused, and before your know it, you'll realize that putting things in lists, or goals, irregardless of how small, helps you to achieve them.
