Is Internet Marketing and SEO Different?

I saw this question on a forum I was in and thought wow! How could someone not know that they are two separate things, but they can both deliver the end result which is sales.

Internet marketing is where you market your site so you are promoting your website to get people to come to it and purchase what you are selling. You may do this by way of using Google Adwords ads to get people to your site or by writing articles and linking to your site in your resource box. You should make sure you use the profile and link back to your site with your chosen keyword hyperlinked in forums that you use as this will also get visitors to your website.

SEO on the other hand is important for getting you indexed in the search engines for your chosen keyword as you want people to visit your site who are looking for your product. An example would be say you had a gardening site and you wanted to be on page 1 of Google for the term gardening. You would need to SEO your site for the term Gardening. this would mean making your site keywords bold, ensuring your forum profile backlinks to your website are your keyword and hyperlinked, the same for your article resource box.

I would also recommend doing a little search on Google for gardening and see who comes up on page 1 and see what they do. When looking you can generally see bold keywords. Look at their html source and check out what they do for H1, H2, & H3 tags. There is a great tool to help you with your keyword density as you have to make sure you do not over do it as Google will ping you for it as being too spammy!

There is a lot more you can do to SEO or search engine optimize your website. However for the question is internet marketing and SEO different I would have to say as terms and meanings they most certainly are different. But they are both needed if you want to have a successful website as they most certainly go hand in hand.

Be Smart About Where You Backlink

Creating backlinks is an essential part of growing your websites presence and weight amongst the search engines. You can use free backlink checkers to see how you track in the backlinks stakes but did you know there is a little trick you can do to check if a site is worth adding a backlink to by using Google.

If you go to your Google page and just type in site:The-site-you-want-to-check.com (without the www) Then you will get all there backlinks but if you select the more options tab and along the left hand side is an option for Past 24 hours. This is where you can check and see if they have had any backlinks added to Google in the past 24 hours you can even check the past week or past year if you want. Of course you want to add your link to sites that do get indexed bu Google so if they have'nt had anything within the past week I would probably link somewhere else.

By using this tool you can ensure you are adding your links to sites that are going to be indexed and checked by Google regularly.

When using PLR articles for your website you often wonder how much is duplicate content and will Google penalise me for duplicate content. Sometimes you can yourself write the same paragraph several times throughout articles when you are writing on the same topic as it is what you know.

Microsoft May Rename Live Search 'Bing': Massive Ad Campaign Planned Microsoft's new search engine is reportedly dumping its codename, Kumo, in favor of the brand name Bing. To get the word out, Microsoft is planning a massive advertising campaign to launch its new search brand. Bing's debut will feature a $80 to $100 million online, TV, print, and radio advertising campaign, according to AdvertisingAge. To put that number in perspective, Google's entire advertising budget for all of 2008 was $25 million, AdAge says. Microsoft is hoping a major ad push will take a chunk out of Google -- the number one online search brand -- in favor of Bing, the same way Microsoft's laptop hunter ads helped in its fight against Apple.

Google SEO: New Discoveries

Google says it makes minor changes to the search engine at least every week and now you can feel some of these changes too.

Google quickly modifies the search engine to avoid having webmasters and some enterprises to learn how it all works and then to change the results in a negative way.

One of the things you can see now that you could not see some time ago is that the content on the top of the page has more importance than the content on the bottom. In my article about Yotam you can see this perfectly. If you search on google for Yotam 2004, or 2003 or 2005 you can see the article in the top 1 or top 2, but if you search for Yotam 2006, 2007 or 2008 the ranking will be reduced. This can be not only because of the height of the placement of the keywords but also because of the amount of content around those keywords. The last Yotam dates have less content around it and that might be influencing the results as well.
