Ooma equals Free Phone

As 2011 began, I am sure my long time readers know I sat down to do our annual "family" exam of our finances. We do this each year to ensure that our expenses are as low as they possibly can be, so that we are not just continuing to pay bills because they happen to be there.

What is important to look at? Everything! We pull our checking statement out and go through every payment we make over the months to see what we can reduce. This includes, but is not limited to: auto insurance, home insurance, electricity/gas, TV, telephone, internet, life insurance, cell phone bills, groceries, garbage, etc.

You will find, your family can lower their expenses for the year by hundreds and hundreds of dollars or more! If you haven't called your providers yet, now is the time! Read here on how to get your cable lowered if you use cable or satellite. You can do this with other providers as well: telephone, internet, garbage, etc, if you have competition for these services.

Today, I wanted to share how we saved $480 this year and have FREE telephone. We were paying approx $40 for our telephone each month ( this was just telephone and our internet is on top of that ) and added up to the $480 annually.

One of my readers wrote me early last year to tell me about Ooma. I had never heard of it, but I decided to test it for everyone. And, boy am I glad I did. We have been using it since last year and loved it. So, we decided to cancel our telephone from Cincinnati Bell and move exclusively to Ooma. We have had no problems except wondering where our monthly phone bill went?

Ooma is a box you buy that works like VOIP, or companies like Vonage. It connects through your High Speed Internet, so you do have to have this service already.

What I like about it?

It is FREE ( depending on your state, you may owe state taxes. )
I was able to port my old phone number over
You can connect it so all your wall phones, cordless phones, etc work
It comes with many additional services: Free unlimited long distance in country, Free voicemail, Free caller ID, Free Call waiting, etc
It has 911 capabilities
It is as clear as my home phone and no one has noticed a difference

How do you get it? I bought mine thru Amazon and it does cost $200 approx. They give you a 30 day money back guarantee. When we looked at our phone bill, we figured after 5 months at $40 we had paid $200. So, after 5 months our phone bill would then be free. We decided to try it.

My recommendation and what we did:

1. Look at your current phone bill to see how long until you paid $200 and it would be free for you.

2. Order it and install it IMMEDIATELY so you can use the 30 day money back guarantee to see if you like it. We installed it only to ONE cordless phone and used that phone to call people. We did not want our home phone number shut off until we tested it.

3. After 30 days, if you decide to keep it then port your old phone number over. Otherwise, return it on time to get your money back.

4. Once your old phone number is ported over, then connect it to all your phones in the house.

To have free phone month after month, we have been ecstatic. The savings to us year after year is huge. I hope this new company will help your family also save as much as us.

J&R Market Research Study

J & R Coordinating Services, Inc has a current screener available for Cincinnati area residents for a Market Research study.

It will be on either Friday, March 25th or Monday, March 28th at their Mason location.

I took the screener ( short ) and didn't qualify. It was appearing to ask questions about pets (which I don't have ), although I am not positive that is what the study will be on. Also, I do not have a payment amount, but I do know they have always paid me nicely in the past for my time.

Hotspex - Surveys for Amazon Gift Certificates AND Online Offer Update

Surveys, surveys, surveys! I feel like that is almost all I have been blogging about lately.

If you haven't been able to tell, I usually write my blog based on what I am doing in my everyday life to earn and save extra money for my family.

My favorite method is Online Offers but, I have not been able to find any good Online Offers lately. So, Surveys and Market Research have become something I have been spending more time on lately and thus writing about more.

But, do not fear.........I have decided to start testing some of the new Online Offers that have come out over the past year. They are with companies I have not had experience with yet, so we will see how they pan out.

I have also decided that since so many of you have been writing me wanting to know when new Online Offers will come out, I will test them via my blog. Meaning? I am going to let you know which one I am doing and give you weekly updates on how it is progressing and when my money finally comes. This way, you can either follow along with me or wait and see how it turns out for me before starting.

Of course if things go wrong, I will report on that, too. Hopefully via testing, we will find some of these new companies to be legit and we can all begin earning more this year again. Look for an Online Offer update coming soon.

Until then, surveys are still one of my favorite money makers. And, one of the companies I have been a member of for years has finally made a change that warrants it being mentioned on my blog.

75% Toy Sale - Target

Thankfully, I got a call from my girlfriend, Lili, today to let me know that the Target 75% Toy Clearance would be happening today.

And, well, we need to send a big thank you to Francine, her sister, for alerting both of us.

As usual, I found it was a great time to stockpile my Birthday party, Holidays, Easter, etc shopping. If you remember, I hit the toy sale in January. You can click here to see how I did back then. Notice all those baby dolls I grabbed? Well, my daughter has gone to enough Birthday parties this year, that I was all out of dolls already. And, we have a friend's birthday party next week. Ugh!

So, as you can see from my photo today I was able to grab 6 of the Dora Explorer Girl dolls for just $4.94. These are normally almost $20 each. I am ready for all the birthday parties again! :)

On top of that, I got Thomas the Train, Circo wooden train accessories, Littlest Pet Shop and Fancy Nancy animals, and even accessories for the Dora Girls.

All in all, it was a very successful trip. I saved over $270!

$25 Mindfield Online Survey

I had a great survey taking day. I qualified for a $25 survey with Mindfield and earned an extra $3 thanks to Valued Opinion.

Already a member? Go to your survey email account and see if you got an invite to study 20105992. If you did, take the screener to see if you qualify for this survey/study, too. It is well worth it.

If you are a new member, keep an eye on your email in case you get an invite, too. And, don't forget they have a Refer a Friend program you will want to utilize as well. It is suspended currently, but keep an eye open so you know when it becomes active again.

$125 Investment Study - Lakamos

If you have at least one investment product ( 401k, IRA, Stocks, etc ) and make changes to your Auto Insurance online, you may qualify for this $125 Study.

The focus group will be on August 2nd or 3rd for approx. 2 hours. I ASSUME this is an online study, since the invite they sent me didn't specify, but I am not sure.

Click IQ Survey up - 150 Points

Click IQ has a 150 Survey up on their site. It took me about 5 minutes to complete and was very straightforward.

This is one of the few survey sites I remind members when I get an invite because they fill up fast! Other sites I will only put reminders out when a high dollar survey comes out.

If you ever get invites to surveys from Click IQ that I may not get, feel free to share the information on my Money Saving Methods Facebook wall here so others can benefit, too. I can then update my blog for non Facebook members. :)

An email just went out ( or at least I just got it ) on a $25 Survey from Opinion Outpost. It takes 20 minutes.
