Lest the community be left out of celebrating we have a special day after the big day just for us!

Yesterday was a full day of recreation (outside of the hours of prayer, of course) to celebrate the wonderful gift of Sr. Mary Amata's Solemn Profession. We enjoyed the rare

We often describe a special event in our lives as a "day made in heaven" and February, 2, 2012, Feast of the Presentation, was especially so as Sr. Mary Amata deepened her spousal union with Christ and her perpetual holocaust through solemn profession as a Nun of the Order of Preachers.

What happens is something that, each year, always amazes me. The plan was that everyone would sing it in the same key (!). Groups were asked to send in a video clip to the brethren at the Curia and the angels would do the rest.

This will be the first Solemn Profession in 13 years and we are so excited, not to mention how excited Sr. Mary Amata is!

Jordan, successor of St. Dominic as Master of the Order, brought in nearly 1,000 men into the Order of Preachers! 

In his footsteps is Fr. Benedict Croell, OP, vocation director of the Province of St. Joseph. He's hasn't helped that many men come in (yet!) but by the size of the novitiate classes he just might!

We have been trying to get Dr. Cavadini to come for lectures for nearly 3 years but one thing or another got in the way! We were thrilled to have Dr. Cavadini with us and benefited greatly

You might remember that he preached our retreat this past August and was with us for hurricane Irene, staying on a few extra days to make sure that we had Holy Mass since our new chaplain, Fr. Gregory was supposed to arrive the day of the hurricane!
