Back From The Big City

We are back from the big apple! We spent the past few days marveling over the gorgeous shoes that are in store for Fall 2016 (along with eating tons of great food!). It was difficult picking our favorite styles with so much to choose from, but we can't wait for our final selections to roll in this fall! In the meantime, here are the shoe trends you can expect to see during Fall 2016... Fringe is definitely still on trend! What's going to be even bigger than fringe, however, are tassels. We are seeing tons of boots and booties with long tassels hanging from the zippers, etc. Also, suede is becoming more and more popular. Some of the best looking shoes are being made in suede. As far as colors go, we are seeing bordeaux pop up a lot on not only shoes but handbags and clothing as well. Which is great for us Gamecock fans! :) Don't worry, we still have plenty of great neutral shoes coming in as well. As far as styles go, we are seeing a ton of adorable booties in all different heights, from flat to wedge. By far, booties are going to be the more prevalent style of boot. We will be returning to New York at the end of February to shop for Fall 2016 clothing, so be on the look out for another re-cap!

Black and white have always been a powerful color combination, but today I’m focusing on the hue in-between—grey! Grey has made a huge comeback for this fall and winter, and some are even considering grey as the new black. I could never give up my love for all things black, which inspired today’s blog of combining both black and grey into an edgey yet chic look. If there is one trend to invest in this season, it is surely your favorite fall vest. I love the faux fur ombre vest shown here because it takes any simple outfit to the next level, whether it be a top or a dress. The leather leggings added just a touch of edge and gave me the perfect look I was going for. Happy Saturday! I'm so excited to share this week's featured look! BCBG can do no wrong in my eyes, and this "Lois" dress just further proves it. I fell in love with this dress the second it came in, but I feared it would wash me out. I typically try to stay away from neutral and cream tones with my lighter hair color and olive tone skin. Of course I tried it on anyway, and fell even more in love! It is so unique with its draped kimono sleeves and cinched waist, which also makes it flattering for all body types. The multiple flecks of color and hint of sparkle also make this dress perfect for all skin tones and hair colors. I love the fact that this dress has a touch of shimmer, making it even more fun and a little festive :) Options for accessorizing are truly endless with this look, but I chose to pair it with rose gold jewelry which we are seeing a lot of this season! Pair this dress with your favorite Fall boots or even try a heel for a different look. The possibilities are endless, so come try this kimono style on while it's still on our racks!

Lose the Straps, Get Wrapped Up in Elegance

I immediately fell in love with the rich and vibrant colors of this strapless sheath dress by Hutch. The jacquard fabric makes it heavier for our cooler fall evenings. Since it was a little chilly outside, I chose to pair the dress with a cozy blankie wrap from Minnie Rose. The cashmere wrap kept me warm while adding sophistication to my look. Our blankie wraps are a staple to have for anyone’s closet this fall. They are a perfect weight to pop on while in a movie, restaurant or anywhere else you may happen to get chilly! For accessories, I chose to wear a Kendra Scott necklace and earrings from her “Mirror Mirror” holiday collection. With the dress being strapless, the simple drusy necklace added just enough sparkle to the neckline without taking away from the metallic print of the dress. Last but not least, no outfit is complete without a fabulous heel. I am still obsessing over the scalloped suede heels I chose to wear by Dee Keller. The entire Dee Keller collection is one of my absolute favorite shoe lines because of the style and exceptional quality. This fall is all about booties and accessories! Today, I am sharing with you all a Susana Monaco dress that is versatile and fun this season. One of the many reasons I love this line is that all of the clothes can be easily dressed up or down. The best items to have in your closet are items that you can wear more than one way to create completely different looks. This dress has such a perfect fit, and the color is so rich and gorgeous complementing any skin tone. I created two different looks this week by changing up booties and accessories. One look incorporates black with a black bootie, leather pearl necklace, and an amazing Kelly Wynne wristlet. The other look shows the dress with a brown bootie, a topaz pendent necklace, and another Kelly Wynne bag in Black Plum Boa. The texture and colors in her bags can completely make any basic outfit anything but basic. This Saturday we are so excited that Kelly Wynne will be coming to Monkee’s for a trunk show. Re-Writing The Fashion Rules

Time to get creative, everyone! Mixing different prints and patterns is a trend that is showing up everywhere and is surprisingly easier than you may think. The key to mastering this trend is to stay in the same color family. Think of matching colors, not prints, even if it is just one color being shared. Also, it is best to choose one print to dominate while the other simply accents. This silk Shoshanna blouse plays the dominate role in this particular outfit with it's chic etching floral print. The large-scale flowers make the perfect contrast to the smaller graphic, jacquard plaid in the skirt. One last tip to remember for perfecting this trend is to mix tailored, structured pieces with a more loose fitted piece like shown here. The way we wear patterns is being re-defined, so don't be afraid to mix things up in your wardrobe this season!

Fall into Comfort with the Jogger Trend

Many people can’t think of a more ideal scenario than curling up for a relaxing day in a pair of sweatpants. Luckily, with the new jogger style pant, you no longer have to stay at home to be comfortable. This trend happens to be one of my favorites for many reasons. Not only are they super comfortable, they can also be dressed up or down and make a great skinny jean alternative. Another great feature of the jogger pant is that you can wear your favorite fall booties without the worry of tucking your jeans in. I am all about the jogger pant this season, and when I saw this pebble snake pair I knew they would be a staple piece to my fall wardrobe. I paired the pant with a faux suede vest and fitted black long sleeve top. Vests are another major trend that we are seeing everywhere this fall, and this particular one is so, so cozy. I literally felt like I was wearing pjs all day long while still being fashionable. I dressed up my particular look up by styling it with a suede heel to extenuate the patterned jogger pant. Believe me, this trend is one that you will definitely fall into once you give it a try!

I love to dress up, and our new Shoshanna arrival is such a beautiful excuse to do so. This dress is filled with so much texture. I absolutely love the striped jacquard fabric with hints of metallic silver twinkling with every twist and turn. I believe you can never be too sparkly, so I paired this dress with Kate Spade’s classic heel in silver glitter. As far as accessories go, I created a beautiful stack of Lilly and Laura bracelets along with popping in a Loren Hope rhinestone bracelet for added glitz. If you’re looking for an alluring dress with a touch of urban sophistication, this BCBG dress is the dress you’ve been dreaming of! Buying pieces that will transition into fall is one of my current top priorities while I’m out shopping, and this dress is one that is great to wear now and later. I love the asymmetric hemline, which gives the outfit a dramatic look. To pull this look together, I paired this cutting edge dress with a somewhat edgy skull embellished clutch and a tall, striking gold embellished heel. As far as jewelry, I chose to incorporate both gold and rose gold colors by pulling from tones in the shoes and dress underlay. One thing I am a sucker for is a beautiful romper. When I’m stumped at what to wear, a romper always does the trick because there is no separate coordination required. So, once we received this gorgeous BCBG romper, I fell head over heels for it. This is great to wear now on breezy evenings, but even more importantly, this piece transitions seamlessly into the fall. Another thing I love about this look is that you can so easily jazz it up by adding heels and accessories. I paired this look with this to die for black fringe Rebecca Minkoff crossbody and Margaret Elizabeth jewelry in blue tones. Margaret Elizabeth is a new jewelry line for us, and we are loving it! The company is based out of San Francisco, CA where Meg Sheckleton, the designer, believes “life is too short to not be doing what you love.” I could not agree more! Lastly, I chose a natural snake print Vince Camuto mule to complete the outfit by directing your eye all the way from the printed romper to the textured shoe. Now that it is officially summer, one of the most looked forward to holidays to kick off summer is just over one week away. It is time to start planning your perfect Fourth of July outfit!! Let’s be honest, the Fourth of July is the one holiday where you can get away with showing off your American pride by wearing red, white, and blue. The key to looking your best this Fourth of July is to pick just one main color and simply accent with the rest. It is important not to go overboard and give off a tacky sense of fashion. My goal was to create a look that could satisfy both casual and dressy occasions no matter what your Fourth of July plans may be. The halter neck Susana Monaco dress shown here is an absolute necessity for celebrating Independence Day. The material is super flowy making it comfortable and cool during these excruciatingly hot days. I LOVE that the back of the dress is cut lower giving off a flirty look. Sticking to the idea of popping in another color with the red, I chose to incorporate navy. The Moon and Lola necklace was the perfect choice in combination with the Navy GiGi tote. The GiGi tote is the perfect size to comfortably carry all of your other Fourth of July goodies. To complete your look, you have to have a comfortable but eye-catchy shoe, and the Andre Assous wedge shown here does just that!! I literally didn’t want to take these beauties off because they were sooooo cushiony, and the glitter strap provides the perfect hint of sparkle for celebrating.
