Adobe Illustrator Registry Problem

Are you getting the error “ Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem in the windows registry which needs to be corrected to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now? ”
This is because Adobe’s update software did a number on some settings.

I tried to CCleaner to fix the registry but i didn't work. The only way I have found to get rid of it is to:

Close all CS5 applications
Right click shortcut to Adobe Illustrator Cs5
Tell it to run as Administrator.
This will give enough permissions for Adobe to fix the registry items that it corrupted in the first place!

As you can see below, I right click the "Adobe Illustrator" icon and “Run as Administrator”.

Solved: 500 Internal Server Error with WordPress and 1and1 Hosting

Recently I updated some of my WordPress blogs which are hosted at 1and1.com. The site was ok until I login as admin. I was stuck at a 500 Internal Server Error page. If you we're also experiencing this problem, just follow the following steps.

Login to your website's root folder via ftp.
Find the .htacces file, download it to your computer and edit it with a text editor like notepad.
Add the following code at the top most
#fix 1and1 500 Internal Server Error
Options All -Indexes
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
#end fix
Save the file and upload it back to your server

Building font cache: VLC Media Player Fix

I bet you are VLC user too. I used it more than any other media players since VLC plays various media types but what only pissed me off is that when I install a new font it always rebuilt its font cache and usually it takes forever. What I do before was just restarting the pc would do the trick but I don't want to the it every time.
I found this fix before, credits to the author but sorry I forgot what site it is.

How to Fix

1. Open VLC and then go to Tools → Preferences.
2. Click on show All settings in the bottom-left corner of the Preferences window.
3. Now click on Video → Subtitles/OSD.
4. Select "Dummy font renderer function" as the Text rendering module.

And Voila. You have now a working vlc again.

HostGator - Change Main Domain Root Directory

How can I change my primary domain root folder from /public_html to /public_html/myfolder?

I just want to organize things here since I'm just using a shared hosting for my addon domains. The website I wish to display is in /public_html/myfolder but www.mywebsite.com shows the default webpage from the /public_html folder.

I chatted with the HostGator's tech support guy and he said it's not possible to change the root directory, it's only applicable for addon domains. I was thinking to change my main domain and add it as an addon domain but I was thinking may be there's should be another way so i tried to play with the .htaccess file and the following codes did the trick.

Mac 101: Knowing how to use the keyboard

I was working with Windows most of the time until I got my new job, I have to work on an iMac then switch back to Windows when I'm at home. What irritates me is that the keyboard layout is different. The Ctrl key in Windows is the Command key in Mac, the Alt key in Windows is the option key in Mac and the Backspace key Windows is labeled Delete in Mac but it can only do backspace, no forward delete.

It's really confusing if you keep switching from Windows to Mac and vice versa. It always happen that I pressed Alt+x/Alt+c/Alt+v to cut/copy/paste when I'm on pc, T_T. And when I'm on Mac also, I always use the delete key to do a forward delete but it backspaces rather so I ask uncle Google where's the delete button and as usual he always gives an answer. Now I know, It's so simple.

To duplicate the forward delete functionality on a Mac keyboard (laptop keyboard), find the function key (it is abbreviated as fn) on the bottom left side of the keyboard. Hold down function and hit the delete key (fn+delete).

Yes, I know. I'm so noob. :p

Imtoo Dvd Ripper

Last week I was trying to rip a dvd. I tested several popular DVD Ripper Software, looking for ease of use, variety of options, and quality of exported .avi. Of those DVD rippers, I found that ImTOO DVD Ripper was superior compared to others.

File Compression/Size. ImTOO DVD Ripper by far had the best compression.
Quality. I can see no difference in the quality between the original DVD and of the ImTOO DVD Ripper made. The best to rip DVD to video (incl. AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, H.264/AVC, RM, MOV, XviD, 3GP, FLV, VOB, ASF, DV) & audio (incl. MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, M4A, AAC, AC3, OGG) formats.

Superb Web Hosting

It been a while since I started doing my freelance. I do front-end development and designs. I make websites but what's too ironic is that I can't even finish my own website. I need something to motivate me to finish my portfolio. May be if someone would pay me then i'll be able to finish it. lol. I am just too lazy.

In doing websites, you must have a domain and a webhost. My friend asked me why won't we just host our websites? I said it is possible but it would be a lot of hassle since we have to maintain those servers and create backups form time to time. But it is really a nice idea to host your site, you could even start your own web hosting business. Or may be it's better to just rent some space from other hosting services, something like colocation, a managed hosting which doesn't give you the maintaning jobs, less hassle and no headaches. I guess if you are as lazy as I am, you would rather buy a space than host it your own. There are a lot out there which offer cheap but reliable web hosting, like 1and1, superb.net, sphosting.com, etc.

Firefox: The official web browser of IBM

Mozilla's Firefox just became the official browser of IBM. This is great. Wohoo, let's help face out IE now...

The announcement came on Bob Sutor's blog this morning and means that tens of thousands of new users will be downloading Firefox at work - and, quite possibly, many will do it at home as well.

Sutor is VP of Open Source and Linux in IBM's Software Group, so it comes as no surprise that he supported this move. But this isn't merely for his division. Or even for the Software Group. This is for all 400,000 IBM employees all over the world.

All computers - whether on Windows, Mac or Linux OS - will be loaded with the software from now on. Employees will be urged to - expected to - make it their default browser.

And IBM will encourage all its vendors of browser-based software to fully support Firefox as well.

Why Firefox? "Firefox is now the gold standard for what an open, secure, and standards-compliant browser should be," Sutor wrote. IBM has contributed to Firefox over the years, too, and will continue to.

Sutor cited the shift to cloud computing as another reason for the change. Cloud computing, to be successful, requires open standards to be used. After all, if everyone enters the cloud using different infrastructure, it's going to be difficult to share data and truly access it from anywhere.

The reasons Sutor gave for why he loves Firefox:

Firefox is stunningly standards compliant, and interoperability via open standards is key to IBM’s strategy.
Firefox is open source and its development schedule is managed by a development community not beholden to one commercial entity.
Firefox is secure and an international community of experts continues to develop and maintain it.
Firefox is extensible and can be customized for particular applications and organizations, like IBM.
Firefox is innovative and has forced the hand of browsers that came before and after it to add and improve speed and function.

For a company the size of IBM to make this change and publicly encourage anyone and everyone to use Firefox as the default browser at home, too, is a huge boost for Mozilla.

Hidden Valley Mountain Resort

Sounds like it cannot be seen or it is on another dimension. lol, I was just addicted to japanese manga and anime so I was thinking that way. Hidden Valley Mouintain Resort is actually not hidden. It is just located in a remote area southwest of Cebu. Lamac, Pinamungajan, Cebu to be specific. I've never been there but they said its about 2.5 to 3 hours travel from Cebu City. Just visit the Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative(LMPC) site for more info about the resort.

Cebu Bloggers Society in cooperation with the Tsinelas Association will be having a two day outreach program teaching computer literacy to some students at Lut-od High School, Lut-od Pinamungahan, Cebu. And we will be staying at Hidden Valley Mountain Resort at night for free. yup, you read it right its free. Well, CBS got a lot of free invitations lately. weeeew I love free stuffs. I love CBS. :-)

I've done something like this outreach before at Paknaan National High School and Mandaue City Science High School together with my classmates but this one is different, I can relate to what a student of a mountain barangay school felt for not knowing much about computers, I too came from a mountain barangay school which lack a lot learning resources. During our time we only have two computers in our school which is not even enough for teachers. We only know computers via books. I remember the first time i touched a keyboard. I was taught to play games by my cousin that time. He said to use W,A,S,D keys for movement controls and it was so funny that I was so afraid what if I accidentally press the Tab,Caps Lock, Shift, and Ctrl keys, I was thinking it would make something troublesome, that it may broke the computer, lol. Then it was so ironic that I took IT during my college, I don't even know how to create tables on MSword. hehe. I draw tables using the lines in MSpaint then paste it to MSword. haha I am so noob.

Most BPO employees work during the night and sleep on the day. I was like that too until I was assigned on swing shift about three months ago. At first you'll find it uneasy to sleep during the day, Its really different if it’s at night. It’s like your 8 hours sleep during the day is equal to a 5 hours sleep during the night. Another thing is that if you got awaken you’ll find it hard to go back to sleep again. Going to day spas and having a body massage while listening to their amazing music will help you relax. But in my case, I don’t really have that much money to spend. So what I did is download some spa music and play those before I go to sleep. It’s like you were inside a spa too, something like an improvise spa environment, lol.

While I was searching for those kind of music, I found these cool stuff toys which plays some relaxing music too.

Actually they were like an mp3 player; see the feet of the bear stuff toy it has the control buttons. It's a sound machine or some called it the white noise machine.They were designed to help babies and kids to go to sleep. wow, less effort for parents now.

Last Saturday, 27 March 2010, the Cebu Bloggers Society was invited at Be Resorts Mactan(formerly called Microtel) for a hotel/beach tour. We were offered to use their facilities for free; some of us went kayaking, some were enjoying in the pool, some enjoyed playing on the Nintendo Wii.

Most of their guests were Asian tourists like Japanese, Chinese and Koreans. Room rates ranged from P5,400 - P7,900. For local clients, standard rooms are offered for P3,000 with breakfast. Special rates are given to local residents on some special occasions.

We were allowed to stay there up to 10pm but on that same day we were also invited to witness The Unveiling of the New Seven Event at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort so we left there at around 6pm. The event started at 6pm too so we were a bit late. The New Seven refers to the seven dolphins on the newly finished sculpture on their resort. It’s very nice, the seven dolphins formed a one big dolphin when you look at it at some point. They had fire dancers which attracts most of the guests, they are awesome; I wonder if those girls were also hot, lol. We then took our dinner and the food was great. It’s like a fiesta; there are a lot of delicious foods to choose from. That was my first time there but I was amazed, they treat us like VIPs.

Windows 7 - This copy of Windows is not genuine

Piracy isn’t good but paying $100 for a copy of Windows is STILL too much for us, the under privileged.

Last night I took a windows update for my desktop then a couple of minutes later I noticed a text watermark at the bottom-right of my screen stating that my copy of Windows is not genuine. Of course I know it's not genuine since I installed it myself.

So here's what we need if we want to get rid of the annoying watermark without going to pay any.
Download this Win7 Activator. Last updated February 2010.

The Remove WAT works for me.
It removes WAT (Windows Activation Technologies) completely from the OS, whilst still retaining genuine status and receiving all updates (optional as well). You can also pass the genuine check in things like Windows Defender.

I was offline in blogging for a while but now I'm going to begin where I left off. Right now I am working for the relayout of my blog.

Okay, back to the topic. The word for the day is "Mark". Define mark? Who is Mark? What to mark? Why to mark? There a lot of mark here, it's because Mark started to unite Cebu bloggers to a one booming blogging community.

Two years ago Mark founded the Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS). It's February 14,2008 same date as Valentines Day. I don't know if he doesn't have a date that time and he seeked for some to love and came up to found a group, CBS. It's just my assumption. lol. But I know most people were gigled and twitterpated to wait for this date so it's really is easy to remember. It's also the foundation day of our school so there's no way I can forget that.

I just happen to login back to friendster today and wohoooh they got a new look, a new background, a new logo with a tagline "Connecting Smiles", a new shoutout "Tell your friends what you're doing right now..." . It's almost the same with facebook excluding the chat and those addictive games. Lol, they are really trying hard to fuck facebook in their face. As if they can. Lol. Facebook is really booming right now.

Will this new look can give back traffic to Friendster? Ambot lng...

Engineers create fingernail-size chip that holds 1TB of data

Engineers have created a new fingernail-size chip that can hold 1 trillion bytes (a terabyte) of data -- 50 times the capacity of today's best silicon-based chip technologies.

The engineers, from North Carolina State University, said their nanostructured Ni-MgO system can store up to 20 high-definition DVDs or 250 million pages of text, "far exceeding the storage capacities of today's computer memory systems."

The team of engineers was led by Jagdish "Jay" Narayan, director of the National Science Foundation Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Structures at the university.

The engineers made their breakthrough using the process of selective doping, in which an impurity is added to a material whose properties consequently change.

Pixlr : Online Adobe Photoshop?

Last night my cousin told me that his mom is admitted at the hospital due to highblood pressure. I went there the morning after then I stayed there the whole day, when I got back to home I was so tired but I still I check my email before going to sleep. And yeah, I got an email from my classmate spamming what he found on the net, the subject was "ONLINE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP" so I open it and it has only a link inside...it's http://pixlr.com/editor. I'm not an expert but I know Adobe Photoshop so I give it a try, I click the link and was amazed...

At first, I told myself that this would be same as other online photo editor I know which is really not that good. But this one is more advance, it really looks like Photoshop(although its only about 30% of photoshop's funtionality but it is really cool), actually you can say that it is a mini photoshop that works on your browser, this got the tools, brushes, filters, layers etc. It can open .PSD files too. It has also a firefox plugin to open images and screen grabs from the web direct to the pixlr image editor.

The only shit is that you can't do the rightclick thingy since this is made in flash. But if you like photo editing and don't have adobe photoshop installed on your computer, just give pixlr a try, I promise it's awesome...
