Quality Counts training is required for major shows AND the Montgomery County Fair. Major Show entry nights are being held November 7th and 8th from 5pm – 7pm at the County Extension Office. You will need your Quality Counts certificate number, as well as your checkbook, exhibitor social security number, parent and exhibitor.

The pecan sale is going on now! All 4-H’ers, please work really hard to sell at least 10 bags of pecans. We expect the pecans to arrive about the 2nd week of November.

Roundup Results

Texas 4-H Roundup is wrapping up. Montgomery County 4-H had several top placings: Sarah Fulghum received 3rd place in the Science, Engineering and Technology Poster Contest; Sarah Gauteson received 2nd place with her Fashion Storyboard – Accessories; Christie Roberts received 3rd place in the Fashion Show, Buying-Specialty and Helene Neidig was awarded a $1500 scholarship. Congratulations!

May County Council Meeting

The County Council Meeting for May has been moved to May 16th to avoid conflicts with end of year tests and activities. This is also when the End Of Year party will be held.

Major Show Steer & State Fair Lamb, Goat and Swine Tags

If you would like to show a Steer at the 2011-2012 major shows or a Lamb, Goat or Pig at the 2011 State Fair of Texas, you must first order your tags. Tags cost $10 per head and orders are due to the Extension Office by April 8, 2011.

Texas AgriLife Extension – Montgomery County Scholarship

Tuesday, March 15 is the last day to turn in your Texas AgriLife Extension – Montgomery County Scholarship application. This is for high school seniors who will be attending college in the fall.

Montgomery County Fair Eligibility Forms

Please get your eligibility form for the Montgomery County Fair from your Club Manager. The member’s parent should fill in the dates the member will be out for the fair and sign it before it goes to the school. These forms are due to the 4-H Office at least one week prior to the show. If we do not receive this form, the member will be considered ineligible and will not be able to show at the fair.
