In order for an essay question to be effective it’s important to read that essay response and provide feedback to the learner.  When you are using Moodle or another LMS to track scores it can be easy for essay responses to get lost in the system.  Don’t let this happen, it’s easy to follow up on responses to Articulate Quizmaker essay questions in Moodle by following the instructions in this MoodleTut.

You’ve got Moodle and Articulate now you want them to talk to each other using SCORM.  One of the most common questions I see in forums, twitter, and blogs is how to use SCORM so that the results of eLearning courses developed with Articulate can be tracked in the Moodle gradebook.  While it is a fairly simple process, many eLearning developers run into problems tracking scores for Articulate courses in Moodle.  This post will help you get all those settings just right so that you can take advantage of SCORM reporting and tracking features in Articulate and Moodle.

One of the first things you are going to want to do in Moodle is add some users to your account.  Moodle gives you the option to both add individual, and import multiple

Import Users

users in Moodle.  In this short tutorial we are going to show you how you can both import, and add new users in Moodle.

Adding Users is useful if you only need to add a single user (like a student just joined your class).

Importing Users is probably what you will want to do if you have to add more than just a user or two.  You can upload a CSV file that contains a list of all the users you want to add to your Moodle account.

User permissions in any software can often be really confusing.  Without reading a manual it is almost impossible to figure out what an Administrator can do differently than a Teacher can.  Tomaz made a pretty sweet “What is Moodle” presentation using PowerPoint and Legos, and one of the more interesting slides presented the various Moodle roles in a clever and interesting way…using Lego Peeps!

In Moodle 1.9 there are actually a few more roles than what are listed above.

• Administrator – Can do anything on the site, in all courses.
• Course creator – Can create new courses.
• Teachers - Can do anything within a course (change activities, grade students).
• Non-Editing Teachers – Same as a teacher, but can’t alter activities.
• Student – Basically what you would expect.  Can’t edit course or activities, but can take courses.
• Guests – They basically have browse capabilities.
